< Proverbs 1 >
1 [the] proverbs of Solomon [the] son of David [the] king of Israel.
Ici nĩ thimo cia Solomoni mũrũ wa Daudi, ũrĩa warĩ mũthamaki wa Isiraeli:
2 To learn wisdom and discipline to teach words of understanding.
nĩ thimo cia gũtũma mũndũ agĩe na ũũgĩ, na ataarĩke; nĩ cia gũtũma ahote gũtaũkĩrwo nĩ ciugo cia ũũgĩ;
3 To receive correction of insight righteousness and justice and uprightness.
nĩ cia gũtũma mũndũ ataarĩke ahote kũbarĩrĩra mũtũũrĩre wake, ekage maũndũ marĩa magĩrĩire, na ma kĩhooto, na marĩa mega;
4 To give to naive people prudence to a youth knowledge and discretion.
nĩ cia gũtũma ũrĩa ũtarĩ na ũũgĩ agĩe na ũmenyo, na cia gũtũma mũndũ mwĩthĩ agĩe na ũmenyo na ũgereri:
5 Let him listen a prudent [one] and let him increase insight and a discerning [one] wise directions let him get.
arĩa oogĩ-rĩ, nĩmathikĩrĩrie na mongerere wĩruti wao, nao arĩa akũũrani maũndũ metĩkĩre gũtongorio.
6 To understand a proverb and an enigma [the] words of learned ones and parables their.
Ningĩ nĩ cia gũtũma mũndũ ataũkĩrwo nĩ thimo na ngerekano, na ataũkĩrwo nĩ ciugo cia andũ arĩa oogĩ, na ndaĩ ciao.
7 [the] fear of Yahweh [is the] beginning of knowledge wisdom and discipline fools they despise.
Kĩambĩrĩria kĩa ũmenyo nĩ gwĩtigĩra Jehova, no arĩa akĩĩgu nĩ mathũire ũũgĩ na ũtaaro.
8 Listen to O son my [the] correction of father your and may not you reject [the] instruction of mother your.
Mũrũ wakwa, thikĩrĩria mataaro ma thoguo, na ndũgatigane na ũrutani wa maitũguo.
9 For - [will be] a wreath of favor they for head your and necklaces for neck your.
Maũndũ macio magaatuĩka ithaga rĩa kũgemia mũtwe waku, na ta mũgathĩ wa kũgemia ngingo yaku.
10 O son my if they will entice you sinners may not you be willing.
Mũrũ wakwa, ehia mangĩgakũheenereria-rĩ, ndũkanetĩkanie nao.
11 If they will say come! with us let us lie in wait for blood let us lie hidden for an innocent [one] without cause.
Mangĩgakwĩra atĩrĩ, “Ũka ũthiĩ hamwe na ithuĩ; reke tuoherie mũndũ tũite thakame yake, reke tũcemaceeme mũndũ o na ũtehĩtie;
12 Let us engulf them like Sheol alive and complete like [those who] go down of [the] pit. (Sheol )
ningĩ reke tũmamerie marĩ muoyo, o ta ũrĩa mbĩrĩra ĩĩkaga, na marĩ agima, o ta arĩa maharũrũkaga irima; (Sheol )
13 All wealth prized we will find we will fill houses our plunder.
Na ithuĩ-rĩ, tũkĩgĩe na indo cia goro cia mĩthemba yothe, na tũiyũrie nyũmba ciitũ na indo cia ndaho;
14 Lot your you will cast in midst of us a bag one it will belong to all of us.
rutithania wĩra na ithuĩ, tũkorwo na mũhuko ũmwe ithuothe”;
15 O son my may not you walk in [the] way with them restrain foot your from pathway their.
mũrũ wakwa, tiga gũtwarana nao, ndũkagerere njĩra ciao;
16 For feet their to evil they run and they may make haste to shed blood.
nĩgũkorwo magũrũ mao mahanyũkaga mathiĩ mehia-inĩ, nao mahiũhaga magaite thakame.
17 For in vain [is] spread out the net in [the] eyes of every owner of a wing.
Kaĩ nĩ wĩra wa tũhũ kũiga gĩkerenge nyoni ciothe igĩkuonaga-ĩ!
18 And they for own blood their they lie in wait they lie hidden for own life their.
Andũ aya mohagĩria thakame yao ene; maceemaga o mĩoyo yao ene!
19 [are] thus [the] paths of Every [one who] gains unjustly unjust gain [the] life of owners its it will take.
Ũcio nĩguo mũthia wa arĩa othe magĩaga na indo na njĩra ya ungumania; indo icio iniinaga mĩoyo ya arĩa magĩaga nacio.
20 Wisdom in the street it cries aloud in the open places she gives voice her.
Ũũgĩ nĩ aretana anĩrĩire njĩra-inĩ, ningĩ agakayũrũrũka arĩ ihaaro-inĩ cia mũingĩ;
21 At [the] top of noisy [places] she calls out at [the] entrances of [the] gates in the city sayings her she utters.
Aragũthũka na mũgambo mũnene arĩ magomano-inĩ ma njĩra kũu kũrĩ inegene, o na itoonyero rĩa itũũra inene akoria atĩrĩ:
22 Until when? - O naive people will you love naivete and mockers mockery do they delight in? themselves and fools will they hate? knowledge.
“Inyuĩ mũtarĩ ũũgĩ-rĩ, nĩ nginya rĩ mũgũtũũra mwendete njĩra cianyu itarĩ cia ũũgĩ? Nĩ nginya rĩ anyũrũrania megũtũũra makenagĩra kĩnyũrũri, na arĩa akĩĩgu mathũire ũmenyo?
23 You will turn back to rebuke my here! I will pour out to you spirit my let me declare words my you.
Korwo nĩmwetĩkĩrire kũigua ũtaaro wakwa-rĩ, nĩingĩamũhingũrĩire ngoro yakwa, ndũme mũmenye meciiria makwa.
24 Because I called and you refused I offered hand my and there not [was] an attentive [one].
No tondũ nĩmwaregire kũnjigua rĩrĩa ndetanire, na gũtirĩ mũndũ werũmbũirie hĩndĩ ĩrĩa ndatambũrũkirie guoko gwakwa,
25 And you ignored all advice my and rebuke my not you yielded to.
na mũkĩagĩra mataaro makwa mothe bata, na mũkĩaga gwĩtĩkĩra ikaanania rĩakwa-rĩ,
26 Also I at calamity your I will laugh I will mock when comes dread your.
niĩ na niĩ nĩngamũthekerera hĩndĩ yanyu ya mwanangĩko, na ndĩmũnyũrũrie rĩrĩa mũgaakorererwo nĩ mũtino:
27 When comes (like devastation *Q(K)*) dread your and calamity your like a storm-wind it will arrive when comes on you trouble and distress.
ĩĩ hĩndĩ ĩrĩa guoya ũkaamũkorerera ta kĩhuhũkanio, rĩrĩa mwanangĩko ũkaamũhaata ta rũhuho rwa kĩhuhũkanio, rĩrĩa mũgaakinyĩrĩrwo nĩ mĩnyamaro na ruo rwa ngoro.
28 Then they will call to me and not I will answer they will earnestly seek me and not they will find me.
“Hĩndĩ ĩyo nĩmakangaĩra, no ndikametĩka; nĩmakanjetha na kĩyo, no matikanyona.
29 Because for they hated knowledge and [the] fear of Yahweh not they chose.
Tondũ nĩmathũũrire ũmenyo, na matiigana gũthuura gwĩtigĩra Jehova,
30 Not they yielded to advice my they spurned all rebuke my.
tondũ matietĩkĩrire mataaro makwa, na nĩmamenire ikaanania rĩakwa,
31 So they may eat from [the] fruit of way their and from own schemes their they will be surfeited.
makaarĩa maciaro ma mĩthiĩre yao, na mahũũnio nĩ maciaro ma mathugunda mao.
32 For [the] waywardness of naive people it will ruin them and [the] ease of fools it will destroy them.
Nĩgũkorwo ũgenyũ wa arĩa matarĩ ũũgĩ nĩũkamooraga, nakuo kwĩgangara kwa arĩa akĩĩgu nĩgũkamaniina;
33 And [one who] listens to me he will dwell security and he will be at ease from dread of trouble.
no ũrĩa wothe ũnjiguaga arĩtũũraga na thayũ, na atũũre ahooreire, atarĩ ũgwati angĩĩtigĩra.”
