< Proverbs 4 >

1 Listen to O children [the] correction of a father and be attentive to know understanding.
Hear, ye sons, the correction of a father, and attend, that ye may know understanding.
2 For instruction good I give to you instruction my may not you neglect.
For, good teaching, have I given you, mine instruction, do not ye forsake.
3 If a son I was of father my tender and only [child] before mother my.
For, a son, became I to my father, tender and most precious in the sight of my mother.
4 And he taught me and he said to me let it hold fast to words my heart your keep commandments my and live.
So he taught me, and said to me—Let thy heart, lay hold of my words, Keep my commandments and live!
5 Acquire wisdom acquire understanding may not you forget and may not you turn aside from [the] utterances of mouth my.
Acquire wisdom, acquire understanding, Do not forget, neither decline thou from the sayings of my mouth.
6 May not you abandon her and she will keep you love her and she will guard you.
Do not forsake her, and she will guard thee, —love her and she will keep thee.
7 [is] first Wisdom acquire wisdom and by all acquisition your acquire understanding.
The principal thing, is wisdom, acquire thou wisdom, With all thine acquisition, acquire thou understanding.
8 Esteem her and she will exalt you she will honor you if you will embrace her.
Exalt her, and she will set thee on high, she will bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her:
9 She will put to head your a wreath of grace a crown of beauty she will give you.
She will give for thy head, a wreath of beauty, A crown of adorning, will she bestow upon thee.
10 Listen O son my and receive words my so they may increase for you years of life.
Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, and they will multiply to thee the years of life.
11 [the] way of Wisdom I taught you I led you in tracks of uprightness.
In the way of wisdom, have I taught thee, I have guided thee in tracks of uprightness.
12 When walking you not anyone will hinder step[s] your and if you will run not you will stumble.
When thou walkest, thy step shall not be hemmed in, and, if thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
13 Take hold on discipline may not you let go keep her for she [is] life your.
Take fast hold of correction, let her not go, —keep her, for, she, is thy life.
14 In [the] path of wicked [people] may not you go and may not you advance in [the] way of evil [people].
Upon the path of the lawless, do not thou enter, and do not advance in the way of the wicked:
15 Avoid it may not you pass along on it turn aside from on it and pass on.
Avoid it, do not pass thereon—turn from it, and depart.
16 For not they will sleep if not they do harm and it is taken away sleep their if not (they bring injury. *Q(K)*)
For they sleep not, unless they can do mischief, —They rob themselves of their sleep, if they cannot cause someone to stumble,
17 For they eat [the] bread of wickedness and [the] wine of violence they drink.
For they consume bread gotten by lawlessness, and, wine obtained by violence, they drink.
18 And [the] path of righteous [people] [is] like a light of brightness [which] goes and [which] shines until [the] established [part] of the day.
But, the path of the righteous, is as the light of dawn, —going on and brightening, unto meridian day.
19 [the] way of Wicked [people] [is] like darkness not they know on what? are they stumbling.
The way of the lawless, is like darkness, they know not, at what they stumble.
20 O son my to words my be attentive! to utterances my incline ear your.
My son, to my words, attend, to my sayings, incline thou thine ear;
21 Do not let them depart from eyes your keep them in [the] midst of heart your.
Let them not depart from thine eyes, keep them in the midst of thy heart;
22 For [are] life they to [those who] find them and to all flesh his health.
For, life, they are, to them who find them, —and, to every part of one’s flesh, they bring healing.
23 More than all guarding guard heart your for [are] from it [the] sources of life.
Above all that must be guarded, keep thou thy heart, for, out of it, are the issues of life.
24 Remove from yourself crookedness of mouth and deviousness of lips put far away from yourself.
Remove from thee, perverseness of mouth, and, craftiness of lips, put far from thee.
25 Eyes your before let them look and eyelids your let them look straight before you.
Let, thine eyes, right onward, look, —and, thine eyelashes, point straight before thee.
26 Make level [the] track of foot your and all ways your let them be steadfast.
Make level the track of thy foot, that, all thy ways, may be directed aright:
27 May not you turn aside right and left turn aside foot your from evil.
Decline not, to the right hand or to the left, —Turn away thy foot from wickedness.
