< Proverbs 10 >
1 [the] proverbs of Solomon. A son wise he makes glad a father and a son a fool [is] [the] grief of mother his.
The proverbs of Solomon [Peaceable, Recompense]. A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.
2 Not they profit treasures of wickedness and righteousness it delivers from death.
Treasures of ethical wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.
3 Not he allows to hunger Yahweh [the] appetite of [the] righteous and [the] craving of wicked [people] he rejects.
Adonai will not allow the soul of the upright to go hungry, but he thrusts away the desire of the wicked.
4 [is] poor [one who] works A palm of laxness and [the] hand of diligent [people] it gains riches.
He becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.
5 [one who] gathers In the summer [is] a son [who] acts prudently [one who] sleeps at the harvest [is] a son [who] acts shamefully.
He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during the harvest is a son who causes shame.
6 Blessings [belong] to [the] head of [the] righteous and [the] mouth of wicked [people] it conceals violence.
Blessings are on the head of the upright, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
7 [the] memory of [the] righteous [is] for A blessing and [the] name of wicked [people] it will rot.
The memory of the upright is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.
8 A wise [person] of heart he accepts commandments and a fool of lips he will be ruined.
The wise in heart receives mitzvot ·instructions·, but a chattering fool will fall.
9 [one who] walks In integrity he walks security and [one who] perverts ways his he will become known.
He who walks blamelessly walks surely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.
10 [one who] winks An eye he gives sorrow and a fool of lips he will be ruined.
One winking with the eye causes sorrow, but a chattering fool will fall.
11 [is] a fountain of Life [the] mouth of a righteous [person] and [the] mouth of wicked [people] it conceals violence.
The mouth of the upright is a spring of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
12 Hatred it stirs up contentions and over all transgressions it covers love.
Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all rebellious breaches of relationships.
13 On [the] lips of a discerning [person] it is found wisdom and a rod [is] for [the] back of [one] lacking of heart.
Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has discernment, but a rod is for the back of him who is void of understanding.
14 Wise [people] they store up knowledge and [the] mouth of a fool [is] destruction near.
Wise men lay up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near ruin.
15 [the] wealth of A rich [person] [is] a town of strength his [is the] ruin of poor [people] poverty their.
The rich man’s wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty.
16 [the] reward of [the] righteous [is] Life [the] yield of [the] wicked [is] sin.
The labor of the upright leads to life. The increase of the wicked leads to habitual sin ·missing the mark·.
17 [is] a path To life [one who] keeps discipline and [one who] neglects rebuke [is] leading astray.
He is in the way of life who heeds correction, but he who forsakes reproof leads others astray.
18 [one who] conceals Hatred [is] lips of falsehood and [one who] spreads an evil report he [is] a fool.
He who hides hatred has lying lips. He who utters a slander is a fool.
19 In a multitude of words not it ceases transgression and [one who] restrains lips his [is] acting prudently.
In the multitude of words there is no lack of rebellious breach of relationship, but he who restrains his lips does wisely.
20 [is] silver Chosen [the] tongue of [the] righteous [the] heart of wicked [people] [is] like a little.
The tongue of the upright is like choice silver. The heart of the wicked is of little worth.
21 [the] lips of [the] righteous They feed many [people] and fools by lack of heart they die.
The lips of the upright feed many, but the foolish die for lack of understanding.
22 [the] blessing of Yahweh it it makes rich and not he adds sorrow with it.
Adonai’s blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.
23 [is] like Sport for a fool to do wickedness and wisdom for a person of understanding.
It is a fool’s pleasure to do wickedness, but wisdom is a man of understanding’s pleasure.
24 [the] fear of A wicked [person] it it will come to him and [the] desire of righteous [people] someone will give.
What the wicked fear, will overtake them, but the desire of the upright will be granted.
25 When passes by a storm-wind and there not [is the] wicked and a righteous [person] [is] a foundation of perpetuity.
When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more; but the upright stand firm forever.
26 Like vinegar - to the teeth and like smoke to the eyes so the sluggard to [those who] send him.
As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.
27 [the] fear of Yahweh it adds days and [the] years of wicked [people] they will be short.
The fear of Adonai prolongs days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
28 [the] hope of Righteous [people] [is] joy and [the] hope of wicked [people] it is lost.
The prospect of the upright is joy, but the hope of the wicked will perish.
29 [is] a refuge For integrity [the] way of Yahweh and destruction for [those who] do wickedness.
The way of Adonai is a stronghold to the upright, but it is a destruction to the workers of vain striving of iniquity.
30 [the] righteous For ever not he will be shaken and wicked [people] not they will dwell in [the] land.
The upright will never be removed, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.
31 [the] mouth of A righteous [person] it will bear fruit wisdom and a tongue of perversities it will be cut off.
The mouth of the upright produces wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut off.
32 [the] lips of [the] righteous They know! pleasure and [the] mouth of wicked [people] perversities.
The lips of the upright know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.
