Numbers 16
1 And he took Korah [the] son of Izhar [the] son of Kohath [the] son of Levi and Dathan and Abiram [the] sons of Eliab and On [the] son of Peleth [the] sons of Reuben.
Or voilà que Corée, fils d’Isaar, fils de Caath, fils de Lévi, et Dathan et Abiron, les fils d’Eliab, et de plus Hon, fils de Phéleth d’entre les fils de Ruben,
2 And they rose up before Moses and men from [the] people of Israel fifty and two hundred leaders of [the] congregation called of [the] appointed meeting men of name.
S’élevèrent contre Moïse, ainsi que deux cent cinquante autres hommes des enfants d’Israël, princes de la synagogue, et qui, au temps du conseil, étaient nommément appelés.
3 And they assembled on Moses and on Aaron and they said to them enough for you that all the congregation all of them [are] holy and [is] among midst of them Yahweh and why? do you exalt yourselves over [the] assembly of Yahweh.
Comme donc ils résistaient à Moïse et à Aaron, ils dirent: Qu’il vous suffise que toute la multitude soit une multitude de saints, et que le Seigneur soit au milieu d’eux. Pourquoi vous élevez-vous au-dessus du peuple du Seigneur?
4 And he heard Moses and he fell on face his.
Ce qu’ayant entendu Moïse, il tomba incliné sur sa face,
5 And he spoke to Korah and to all company his saying morning and he will make known Yahweh [the one] who [belongs] to him and the holy [person] and he will bring [him] near to himself and [the one] whom he will choose him he will bring near to himself.
Et parlant à Coré et à toute la troupe: Demain matin, dit-il, le Seigneur fera connaître ceux qui lui appartiennent, et il attachera à lui les saints; et ceux qu’il aura choisis s’approcheront de lui.
6 This do take for yourselves censers O Korah and all company his.
Faites donc ceci: Que chacun prenne son encensoir, toi, Coré, et tout ton conseil.
7 And put in them - fire and set on them incense before Yahweh tomorrow and it will be the man whom he will choose Yahweh he [will be] the holy [person] enough for you O descendants of Levi.
Et ayant pris demain du feu, mettez dessus de l’encens devant le Seigneur, et celui qu’il aura choisi, celui-là même sera saint. Vous vous élevez beaucoup, fils de Lévi.
8 And he said Moses to Korah listen please O descendants of Levi.
Il dit encore à Coré: Ecoutez, fils de Lévi;
9 ¿ [is it too] small For you that he has set apart [the] God of Israel you from [the] congregation of Israel to bring near you to himself to serve [the] service of [the] tabernacle of Yahweh and to stand before the congregation to serve them.
Est-ce peu pour vous, que le Dieu d’Israël vous ait séparé de tout le peuple, et vous ait attaché à lui, afin que vous le serviez dans le culte du tabernacle, que vous assistiez devant la foule du peuple, et que vous exerciez le ministère pour le Seigneur?
10 And he has brought near you and all brothers your [the] descendants of Levi with you but you seek also priesthood.
Est-ce pour cela qu’il t’a fait approcher de lui, toi et tous tes frères, enfants de Lévi, afin que vous vous arrogiez même le sacerdoce,
11 Therefore you and all company your [are] the [ones who] have gathered on Yahweh and Aaron what? [is] he that (you will cause to grumble *Q(K)*) on him.
Et que toute ta troupe résiste au Seigneur? Qu’est-ce, en effet, qu’Aaron, pour que vous murmuriez contre lui?
12 And he sent Moses to summon Dathan and Abiram [the] sons of Eliab and they said not we will come up.
Moïse envoya donc appeler Dathan et Abiron, fils d’Eliab. Ils répondirent: Nous n’irons pas.
13 ¿ [is it] small That you have brought up us from a land flowing of milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness that you will make yourself ruler over us also really.
Est-ce peu pour vous, que vous nous ayez retirés d’une terre où coulaient du lait et du miel, pour nous faire mourir dans le désert, si de plus vous ne nous dominez point?
14 Also not into a land flowing of milk and honey you have brought us and you have given to us an inheritance of field and vineyard ¿ [the] eyes of the men those will you put out not we will come up.
À la vérité, vous nous avez conduits dans une terre, où coulent des ruisseaux de lait et de miel, et vous nous avez donné des possessions de champs et de vignes; est-ce que vous voulez aussi nous arracher les yeux? Nous n’irons pas.
15 And it burned to Moses exceedingly and he said to Yahweh may not you turn to offering their not a donkey one from them I have taken and not I have done harm to one of them.
Or, Moïse fort irrité, dit au Seigneur: Ne regardez point leurs sacrifices; vous savez que je n’ai jamais reçu d’eux pas même un ânon, et que je n’ai affligé aucun deux.
16 And he said Moses to Korah you and all company your be before Yahweh you and they and Aaron tomorrow.
Et il dit à Coré: Toi et toute ton assemblée, tenez-vous demain d’un côté devant le Seigneur, et Aaron d’un autre.
17 And take - each one censer his and you will put on them incense and you will bring near before Yahweh each one censer his fifty and two hundred censers and you and Aaron each one censer his.
Prenez chacun vos encensoirs, et mettez-y de l’encens, offrant au Seigneur deux cent cinquante encensoirs; qu’Aaron tienne aussi son encensoir.
18 And they took each one censer his and they put on them fire and they set on them incense and they stood [the] entrance of [the] tent of meeting and Moses and Aaron.
Lorsqu’ils eurent fait cela, Moïse et Aaron étant présents,
19 And he called together on them Korah all the congregation to [the] entrance of [the] tent of meeting and it appeared [the] glory of Yahweh to all the congregation.
Et qu’ils eurent réuni contre eux toute la multitude à la porte du tabernacle, la gloire du Seigneur apparut à tous.
20 And he spoke Yahweh to Moses and to Aaron saying.
Et le Seigneur ayant parlé à Moïse et à Aaron, dit:
21 Separate yourselves from among the congregation this so I may consume them like a moment.
Séparez-vous du milieu de cette assemblée, afin que je les détruise soudain.
22 And they fell on faces their and they said O God [the] God of the spirits of all flesh ¿ a man one will he sin and towards all the congregation will you be angry?
Ceux-ci tombèrent inclinés sur leur face et dirent: Dieu très fort des esprits de toute chair, est-ce qu’un seul péchant, votre colère sévira contre tous.
23 And he spoke Yahweh to Moses saying.
Et le Seigneur repartit à Moïse:
24 Speak to the congregation saying take yourselves up from round about [the] dwelling place of Korah Dathan and Abiram.
Ordonne à tout le peuple qu’il se sépare des tentes de Coré, de Dathan et d’Abiron.
25 And he arose Moses and he went to Dathan and Abiram and they went after him [the] elders of Israel.
Et Moïse se leva, alla vers Dathan et Abiron, et les anciens d’Israël le suivant,
26 And he spoke to the congregation saying turn away please from at [the] tents of the men wicked these and may not you touch all that [belongs] to them lest you should be swept away with all sins their.
Il dit à la multitude: Retirez-vous des tentes de ces hommes impies et ne touchez pas ce qui leur appartient, de peur que vous ne soyez enveloppés dans leurs péchés.
27 And they took themselves up from at [the] dwelling place of Korah Dathan and Abiram from all around and Dathan and Abiram they came out standing [the] entrance of tents their and wives their and sons their and little one[s] their.
Or lorsqu’ils se furent retirés de leurs tentes tout autour, Dathan et Abiron, sortis se tenaient à l’entrée de leurs pavillons avec leurs femmes, leurs enfants, et tous les leurs.
28 And he said Moses by this you will know! that Yahweh he has sent me to do all the works these for not from own heart my.
Alors Moïse dit: En ceci vous connaîtrez que le Seigneur m’a envoyé pour faire tout ce que vous voyez, et que je n’ai rien produit de mon propre esprit:
29 If like [the] death of every human they will die! these [men] and [the] visitation of every human it will be visited on them not Yahweh he has sent me.
S’ils meurent d’une mort ordinaire aux hommes, et s’ils sont visités de la plaie dont tous les autres ont coutume d’être visités, le Seigneur ne ma pas envoyé;
30 And if a creation he will create Yahweh and it will open the ground mouth its and it will swallow them and all that [belongs] to them and they will go down alive Sheol towards and you will know that they have spurned the men these Yahweh. (Sheol h7585)
Mais si le Seigneur fait une chose nouvelle: si la terre ouvrant sa bouche les engloutit, eux et tout ce qui leur appartient, et qu’ils descendent vivants dans l’enfer, vous saurez qu’ils ont blasphémé le Seigneur. (Sheol h7585)
31 And it was when finished he to speak all the words these and it was split open the ground which [was] under them.
Aussitôt qu’il cessa de parler, la terre se fendit sous leurs pieds;
32 And it opened the earth mouth its and it swallowed them and households their and every person who [belonged] to Korah and all the property.
Et ouvrant sa bouche, elle les dévora avec leurs tentes et tout leur avoir;
33 And they went down they and all that [belonged] to them alive Sheol towards and it covered over them the earth and they perished from among the assembly. (Sheol h7585)
Et ils descendirent vivants dans l’enfer, recouverts par la terre, et ils périrent du milieu de la multitude. (Sheol h7585)
34 And all Israel which [was] around them they fled to voice their for they said lest it should swallow us the earth.
Cependant tout Israël qui se tenait là autour, s’enfuit au cri de ceux qui périssaient, disant: C’est de peur que la terre ne nous engloutisse aussi.
35 And fire it came forth from with Yahweh and it consumed the fifty and two hundred man [who] were bringing near the incense.
En même temps un feu sorti du Seigneur tua les deux cent cinquante hommes qui offraient de l’encens.
36 And he spoke Yahweh to Moses saying.
Et le Seigneur parla à Moïse, disant:
37 Speak to Eleazar [the] son of Aaron the priest so may he take up the censers from between the burning and the fire scatter beyond for they are holy.
Ordonne à Éléazar, fils d’Aaron, le prêtre, qu’il prenne les encensoirs, qui sont par terre au milieu de l’embrasement, et qu’il disperse le feu çà et là, parce qu’ils ont été sanctifiés
38 [the] censers of The sinners these by lives their and people will make them beaten out of thin plates overlay for the altar for they brought near them before Yahweh and they became holy and they may become a sign for [the] people of Israel.
Par la mort des pécheurs; qu’il les réduise en lames, et qu’il les attache à l’autel, parce qu’on y a offert de l’encens au Seigneur, et qu’ils ont été sanctifiés, afin que les enfants d’Israël les voient comme un signe et un monument.
39 And he took Eleazar the priest [the] censers of bronze which they had brought near the [ones who] were burned and people beat out them overlay for the altar.
Eléazar, le prêtre, prit donc les encensoirs d’airain dans lesquels avaient offert de l’encens ceux que l’embrasement dévora, et il les réduisit en lames, les attachant à l’autel,
40 A reminder to [the] people of Israel so that that not he may draw near a man strange who not [is] one of [the] offspring of Aaron he to make smoke incense before Yahweh and not he will be like Korah and like company his just as he had spoken Yahweh by [the] hand of Moses to him.
Afin que les enfants d’Israël eussent dans la suite de quoi les avertir, que quelqu’un d’étranger et qui n’était pas de la race d’Aaron, ne devait pas offrir de l’encens au Seigneur, de peur qu’il ne lui arrivât ce qui arriva à Coré et à toute sa troupe, lorsque le Seigneur parla à Moïse.
41 And they grumbled all [the] congregation of [the] people of Israel from [the] next day on Moses and on Aaron saying you you have killed [the] people of Yahweh.
Or toute la multitude des enfants d’Israël murmura le jour suivant contre Moïse et Aaron, disant: C’est vous qui avez tué le peuple du Seigneur.
42 And it was when assembled the congregation on Moses and on Aaron and they turned to [the] tent of meeting and there! it covered it the cloud and it appeared [the] glory of Yahweh.
Et comme la sédition s’élevait et que le tumulte croissait,
43 And he came Moses and Aaron to [the] face of [the] tent of meeting.
Moïse et Aaron s’enfuirent au tabernacle d’alliance. Lorsqu’ils furent entrés, la nuée se couvrit, et la gloire du Seigneur apparut,
44 And he spoke Yahweh to Moses saying.
Et le Seigneur dit à Moïse:
45 Get away from among the congregation this so I may make an end of them like a moment and they fell on faces their.
Retirez-vous du milieu de cette multitude, maintenant même je les détruirai. Et comme ils étaient couchés sur la terre,
46 And he said Moses to Aaron take the censer and put on it fire from on the altar and set incense and take [it] quickly to the congregation and make atonement on them for it has gone forth wrath from to before Yahweh it has begun the plague.
Moïse dit à Aaron: Prends l’encensoir, et ayant pris, du feu de l’autel, mets de l’encens par dessus, et va aussitôt vers le peuple, afin que tu pries pour lui; car déjà la colère est sortie du Seigneur, et la plaie sévit avec violence,
47 And he took [it] Aaron just as - he had said Moses and he ran into [the] middle of the assembly and there! it had begun the plague among the people and he put the incense and he made atonement on the people.
Aaron l’ayant fait, et ayant couru au milieu de la multitude que déjà ravageait l’embrasement, offrit de l’encens.
48 And he stood between the dead and between the living and it was restrained the plague.
Et se tenant entre les morts et les vivants, il pria pour le peuple, et la plaie cessa.
49 And they were those [who] died by the plague four-teen thousand and seven hundred besides the [ones who] died on [the] matter of Korah.
Or il y eut de ceux qui furent frappés, quatorze mille et sept cents hommes, outre ceux qui avaient péri dans la sédition de Coré.
50 And he returned Aaron to Moses to [the] entrance of [the] tent of meeting and the plague it had been restrained.
Et Aaron retourna vers Moïse à la porte du tabernacle d’alliance, après que la mort se fut arrêté.
