Numbers 14
1 And it lifted up all the congregation and they gave forth voice their and they wept the people in the night that.
Toute l'assemblée éleva la voix et poussa des cris, et le peuple pleura cette nuit-là.
2 And they grumbled on Moses and on Aaron all [the] people of Israel and they said to them all the congregation if we had died in [the] land of Egypt or in the wilderness this if we had died.
Tous les enfants d'Israël murmurèrent contre Moïse et contre Aaron. Toute l'assemblée leur dit: « Nous aurions voulu mourir au pays d'Égypte, ou mourir dans ce désert!
3 And why? [is] Yahweh bringing us into the land this to fall by the sword wives our and little one[s] our they will become plunder ¿ not good for us [is] to return Egypt towards.
Pourquoi Yahvé nous fait-il venir dans ce pays, pour que nous tombions par l'épée? Nos femmes et nos petits enfants seront capturés ou tués! Ne vaudrait-il pas mieux pour nous de retourner en Égypte? »
4 And they said each to brother his let us appoint a leader and let us return Egypt towards.
Ils se dirent les uns aux autres: « Choisissons un chef et retournons en Égypte. »
5 And he fell Moses and Aaron on faces their before all [the] assembly of [the] congregation of [the] people of Israel.
Et Moïse et Aaron tombèrent sur leur visage devant toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël.
6 And Joshua [the] son of Nun and Caleb [the] son of Jephunneh one of those [who] spied out the land they tore clothes their.
Josué, fils de Nun, et Caleb, fils de Jephunné, qui étaient de ceux qui avaient exploré le pays, déchirèrent leurs vêtements.
7 And they said to all [the] congregation of [the] people of Israel saying the land which we passed in it to spy out it [is] good the land very very.
Ils parlèrent à toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël, en disant: « Le pays que nous avons traversé pour l'explorer est un pays extrêmement bon.
8 If he delights in us Yahweh and he will bring us into the land this and he will give it to us a land which it [is] flowing of milk and honey.
Si Yahvé se plaît en nous, il nous fera entrer dans ce pays et nous le donnera: un pays où coulent le lait et le miel.
9 Only against Yahweh may not you rebel and you may not you fear [the] people of the land for [will be] bread our they it has departed shade their from over them and Yahweh [is] with us may not you fear them.
Seulement, ne vous révoltez pas contre Yahvé, et ne craignez pas les habitants du pays, car ils sont notre pain. Leur défense s'est retirée au-dessus d'eux, et Yahvé est avec nous. Ne les craignez pas. »
10 And they said all the congregation to stone them with stones and [the] glory of Yahweh it appeared at [the] tent of meeting to all [the] people of Israel.
Mais toute la congrégation menaçait de les lapider. La gloire de Yahvé apparut dans la Tente de la Rencontre à tous les enfants d'Israël.
11 And he said Yahweh to Moses until when? will they spurn me the people this and until when? not will they believe in me with all the signs which I did in midst its.
Yahvé dit à Moïse: « Jusques à quand ce peuple me méprisera-t-il? Jusques à quand ne croiront-ils pas en moi, à cause de tous les signes que j'ai accomplis au milieu d'eux?
12 I will strike it with pestilence and I will dispossess it and I may make you a nation great and mighty more than it.
Je les frapperai de la peste, je les déshériterai et je ferai de vous une nation plus grande et plus puissante qu'eux. »
13 And he said Moses to Yahweh and they will hear Egypt that you brought up by strength your the people this from midst its.
Moïse dit à Yahvé: « Les Égyptiens l'entendront, car c'est par ta puissance que tu as fait sortir ce peuple du milieu d'eux.
14 And they will say to [the] inhabitant[s] of the land this they have heard that you O Yahweh [are] in [the] midst of the people this who eye in eye he was seen - you O Yahweh and cloud your [is] standing over them and in a pillar of cloud you [are] going before them by day and in a pillar of fire night.
Ils le diront aux habitants de ce pays. Ils ont appris que toi, Yahvé, tu es au milieu de ce peuple, car on te voit face à face, et ta nuée se tient au-dessus d'eux, et tu marches devant eux, dans une colonne de nuée le jour, et dans une colonne de feu la nuit.
15 And you will put to death the people this like a person one and they will say the nations which they have heard report your saying.
Si tu as tué ce peuple comme un seul homme, les nations qui ont entendu parler de toi diront:
16 Because not was able Yahweh to bring the people this into the land which he swore to them and he has slaughtered them in the wilderness.
« Parce que l'Éternel n'a pas pu faire entrer ce peuple dans le pays qu'il lui avait promis, il l'a tué dans le désert ».
17 And therefore may it be great please [the] power of [the] Lord just as you have spoken saying.
Maintenant, que la puissance de l'Éternel soit grande, comme vous l'avez dit, en disant:
18 Yahweh [is] long of anger and great of covenant loyalty forgiving iniquity and transgression and certainly not he will leave unpunished visiting [the] iniquity of parents on [the] children on a third generation and on a fourth generation.
« L'Éternel est lent à la colère et riche en bonté, il pardonne l'iniquité et la désobéissance; il ne pardonne pas les coupables, il fait retomber l'iniquité des pères sur les enfants, sur la troisième et la quatrième génération.
19 Forgive please [the] iniquity of the people this according to [the] greatness of covenant loyalty your and just as you have forgiven the people this from Egypt and until now.
Pardonne, je te prie, l'iniquité de ce peuple, selon la grandeur de ta bonté, et comme tu as pardonné à ce peuple, depuis l'Égypte jusqu'à maintenant. »
20 And he said Yahweh I have forgiven [them] according to word your.
L'Éternel dit: J'ai pardonné selon ta parole;
21 And but [by] [the] life of me so may be filled [with the] glory of Yahweh all the earth.
mais, en vérité, comme je suis vivant et que toute la terre sera remplie de la gloire de l'Éternel,
22 For all the men who saw glory my and signs my which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness and they have put to [the] test me this ten times and not they have listened to voice my.
parce que tous ces hommes qui ont vu ma gloire et les signes que j'ai opérés en Égypte et dans le désert, m'ont tenté dix fois et n'ont pas écouté ma voix,
23 If they will see the land which I swore to ancestors their and all [those who] have spurned me not they will see it.
ils ne verront pas le pays que j'ai juré à leurs pères, et aucun de ceux qui m'ont méprisé ne le verra.
24 And servant my Caleb consequence it has been a spirit another with him and he has filled after me and I will bring him into the land where he went there and offspring his it will take possession of it.
Mais mon serviteur Caleb, parce qu'il avait avec lui un autre esprit et qu'il m'a entièrement suivi, lui, je le ferai entrer dans le pays où il est allé. Sa descendance le possédera.
25 And the Amalekite[s] and the Canaanite[s] [was] dwelling in the valley[s] tomorrow turn and set out for yourselves the wilderness [the] way of [the] sea of reed[s].
Puisque l'Amalécite et le Cananéen habitent dans la vallée, demain, tournez-vous et allez dans le désert par le chemin de la mer Rouge. »
26 And he spoke Yahweh to Moses and to Aaron saying.
Yahvé parla à Moïse et à Aaron, et dit:
27 Until when? to the congregation evil this which they [are] grumbling on me [the] grumblings of [the] people of Israel which they [are] grumbling on me I have heard.
« Jusqu'à quand supporterai-je cette méchante assemblée qui se plaint de moi? J'ai entendu les plaintes des enfants d'Israël, qui se plaignent de moi.
28 Say to them [by] [the] life of me [the] utterance of Yahweh if not just as you have spoken in ears my so I will do to you.
Dis-leur: Je suis vivant, dit l'Éternel, et je vous ferai ce que vous avez dit à mes oreilles.
29 In the wilderness this they will fall corpses your and all enrolled [men] your of all number your from a son of twenty year[s] and up-wards who you have grumbled on me.
Vos cadavres tomberont dans ce désert; et tous ceux d'entre vous qui ont été comptés, selon votre nombre total, depuis l'âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, et qui se sont plaints de moi,
30 If you you will go into the land which I lifted up hand my to cause to dwell you in it that except Caleb [the] son of Jephunneh and Joshua [the] son of Nun.
vous n'entrerez pas dans le pays que j'ai juré de vous faire habiter, excepté Caleb, fils de Jephunné, et Josué, fils de Nun.
31 And little one[s] your who you said plunder he will become and I will bring them and they will know the land which you have rejected it.
Mais je ferai venir vos petits enfants que vous avez dit devoir être capturés ou tués, et ils connaîtront le pays que vous avez rejeté.
32 And corpses your you they will fall in the wilderness this.
Mais quant à vous, vos cadavres tomberont dans ce désert.
33 And children your they will be shepherds in the wilderness forty year[s] and they will bear prostitution your until are finished corpses your in the wilderness.
Vos enfants seront errants dans le désert pendant quarante ans, et porteront votre prostitution, jusqu'à ce que vos cadavres soient consumés dans le désert.
34 By [the] number of the days which you spied out the land forty day[s] a day for the year a day for the year you will bear iniquities your forty year[s] and you will know opposition my.
Après le nombre de jours pendant lesquels vous avez exploré le pays, quarante jours, car chaque jour est une année, vous porterez vos fautes, quarante ans, et vous connaîtrez mon aliénation'.
35 I Yahweh I have spoken if not - this I will do to all the congregation evil this which has gathered on me in the wilderness this they will meet their end and there they will die.
Moi, Yahvé, j'ai parlé. Je vais faire cela à toute cette méchante assemblée qui s'est réunie contre moi. Dans ce désert, ils seront consumés, et c'est là qu'ils mourront. »
36 And the men whom he sent Moses to spy out the land and they returned (and they caused to grumble *Q(K)*) on him all the congregation by bringing out a bad report on the land.
Les hommes que Moïse avait envoyés pour explorer le pays et qui, à leur retour, avaient poussé toute l'assemblée à murmurer contre lui en rapportant un mauvais rapport sur le pays,
37 And they died the men [who] brought out [the] unfavorable report of the land evil by plague before Yahweh.
ces hommes qui avaient rapporté un mauvais rapport sur le pays, moururent par la peste devant Yahvé.
38 And Joshua [the] son of Nun and Caleb [the] son of Jephunneh they lived of the men those who went to spy out the land.
Mais Josué, fils de Nun, et Caleb, fils de Jephunné, restèrent en vie parmi les hommes qui étaient allés explorer le pays.
39 And he spoke Moses the words these to all [the] people of Israel and they mourned the people exceedingly.
Moïse rapporta ces paroles à tous les enfants d'Israël, et le peuple se lamenta beaucoup.
40 And they rose early in the morning and they went up to [the] top of the hill country saying here [are] we and we will go up to the place which he said Yahweh that we have sinned.
Ils se levèrent de bon matin et montèrent au sommet de la montagne, en disant: « Voici, nous sommes ici, et nous monterons au lieu que l'Éternel a promis, car nous avons péché. »
41 And he said Moses why? this [are] you transgressing [the] mouth of Yahweh and it not it will succeed.
Moïse dit: « Pourquoi désobéissez-vous maintenant au commandement de l'Éternel, puisqu'il ne prospérera pas?
42 May not you go up for not Yahweh [will be] in midst your and not you will be defeated before enemies your.
Ne montez pas, car l'Éternel n'est pas au milieu de vous; ainsi, vous ne serez pas terrassés devant vos ennemis.
43 For the Amalekite[s] and the Canaanite[s] [are] there before you and you will fall by the sword for since you have turned back from after Yahweh and not he will be Yahweh with you.
Car là, l'Amalécite et le Cananéen sont devant toi, et tu tomberas par l'épée parce que tu t'es détourné de suivre l'Yahvé; c'est pourquoi l'Yahvé ne sera pas avec toi. »
44 And they presumed to go up to [the] top of the hill country and [the] ark of [the] covenant of Yahweh and Moses not they departed from [the] midst of the camp.
Mais ils s'enhardirent à monter au sommet de la montagne. Néanmoins, l'arche de l'alliance de Yahvé et Moïse ne sortirent pas du camp.
45 And he came down the Amalekite[s] and the Canaanite[s] who dwelt in the hill country that and they struck them and they scattered them to Hormah.
Alors les Amalécites descendirent, ainsi que les Cananéens qui habitaient cette montagne, et ils les frappèrent et les battirent jusqu'à Horma.
