Numbers 13
1 And he spoke Yahweh to Moses saying.
Yahweh parla à Moïse, en disant:
2 Send for yourself men so they may spy out [the] land of Canaan which I [am] about to give to [the] people of Israel a man one a man one for [the] tribe of ancestors his you will send every [one] a leader among them.
« Envoie des hommes pour explorer le pays de Canaan, que je donne aux enfants d’Israël. Vous enverrez un homme par chacune des tribus patriarcales; que tous soient des princes parmi eux. »
3 And he sent them Moses from [the] wilderness of Paran on [the] mouth of Yahweh all of them [were] men [who were] [the] heads of [the] people of Israel they.
Moïse les envoya du désert de Pharan, selon l’ordre de Yahweh; tous ces hommes étaient des chefs des enfants d’Israël.
4 And these [are] names their for [the] tribe of Reuben Shammua [the] son of Zaccur.
Voici leurs noms: pour la tribu de Ruben, Sammua, fils de Zéchur;
5 For [the] tribe of Simeon Shaphat [the] son of Hori.
pour la tribu de Siméon, Saphat, fils de Huri;
6 For [the] tribe of Judah Caleb [the] son of Jephunneh.
pour la tribu de Juda, Caleb, fils de Jéphoné;
7 For [the] tribe of Issachar Igal [the] son of Joseph.
pour la tribu d’Issachar, Igal, fils de Joseph;
8 For [the] tribe of Ephraim Hoshea [the] son of Nun.
pour la tribu d’Ephraïm, Osée, fils de Nun;
9 For [the] tribe of Benjamin Palti [the] son of Raphu.
pour la tribu de Benjamin, Phalti, fils de Raphu;
10 For [the] tribe of Zebulun Gaddiel [the] son of Sodi.
pour la tribu de Zabulon, Geddiel, fils de Sodi;
11 For [the] tribe of Joseph for [the] tribe of Manasseh Gaddi [the] son of Susi.
pour la tribu de Joseph, la tribu de Manassé, Gaddi, fils de Susi;
12 For [the] tribe of Dan Ammiel [the] son of Gemalli.
pour la tribu de Dan, Ammiel, fils de Gemalli;
13 For [the] tribe of Asher Sethur [the] son of Michael.

14 For [the] tribe of Naphtali Nahbi [the] son of Vopshi.

15 For [the] tribe of Gad Geuel [the] son of Maki.

16 These [are] [the] names of the men whom he sent Moses to spy out the land and he called Moses Hoshea [the] son of Nun Joshua.
Tels sont les noms des hommes que Moïse envoya pour explorer le pays. Moïse donna à Osée, fils de Nun, le nom de Josué.
17 And he sent them Moses to spy out [the] land of Canaan and he said to them go up this in the Negev and you will go up the hill country.
Moïse les envoya pour explorer le pays de Canaan; il leur dit: « Montez là par le Négeb; et vous monterez sur la montagne.
18 And you will see the land what? [is] it and the people which dwells on it ¿ strong [is] it ¿ feeble ¿ few [is] it or? many.
Vous examinerez le pays, ce qu’il est, et le peuple qui l’habite, s’il est fort ou faible, peu nombreux ou considérable;
19 And what? [is] the land which it [is] dwelling in it ¿ good [is] it or? bad and what? [are] the cities which it [is] dwelling in them ¿ in camps or? in fortresses.
ce qu’est le pays où il habite, s’il est bon ou mauvais; ce que sont les villes où il habite, si elles sont ouvertes ou fortifiées;
20 And what? [is] the land ¿ fat [is] it or? lean ¿ [is] there in it wood or? not and you will show yourselves strong and you will take some of [the] fruit of the land and the days [were the] days of [the] first-fruits of grapes.
ce qu’est le sol, s’il est gras ou maigre, s’il y a des arbres ou non. Ayez bon courage, et prenez des fruits du pays. » C’était le temps des premiers raisins.
21 And they went up and they spied out the land from [the] wilderness of Zin to Rehob Lebo Hamath.
Ils montèrent et explorèrent le pays, depuis le désert de Sin jusqu’à Rohob, sur le chemin d’Emath.
22 And they went up in the Negev and he came to Hebron and [were] there Ahiman Sheshai and Talmai those born of Anak and Hebron seven years it was built before Zoan Egypt.
Ils montèrent dans le Négeb et allèrent jusqu’à Hébron, où étaient Achiman, Sisaï et Tholmaï, enfants d’Enac. Hébron avait été bâtie sept ans avant Tanis d’Égypte.
23 And they came to [the] wadi of Eshcol and they cut down from there a branch and a cluster of grapes one and they carried it on the pole two and some of the pomegranates and some of the figs.
Arrivés à la vallée d’Escol, ils coupèrent une branche de vigne avec sa grappe de raisin, et ils la portèrent à deux au moyen d’une perche; ils prirent aussi des grenades et des figues.
24 the Place that someone called [the] wadi of Eshcol on [the] causes of the cluster which they cut down from there [the] people of Israel.
On donna à ce lieu le nom de vallée d’Escol, à cause de la grappe que les enfants d’Israël y coupèrent.
25 And they returned from spying out the land from [the] end of forty day[s].
Au bout de quarante jours, ils revinrent d’explorer le pays.
26 And they went and they came to Moses and to Aaron and to all [the] congregation of [the] people of Israel to [the] wilderness of Paran Kadesh towards and they brought back them word and all the congregation and they showed them [the] fruit of the land.
Ils allèrent et se rendirent auprès de Moïse et d’Aaron, et de toute l’assemblée des enfants d’Israël, à Cadès, dans le désert de Pharan. Ils leur firent un rapport, ainsi qu’à toute l’assemblée, et leur montrèrent les fruits du pays.
27 And they recounted to him and they said we went into the land which you sent us and also [is] flowing of milk and honey it and this [is] fruit its.
Voici le récit qu’ils firent à Moïse: « Nous sommes allés dans le pays où tu nous as envoyés. C’est vraiment un pays où coulent le lait et le miel, et en voici les fruits.
28 Nevertheless for [is] strong the people which dwells in the land and the cities [are] fortified large very and also those born of Anak we saw there.
Mais le peuple qui habite le pays est puissant, et les villes sont fortifiées et très grandes; nous y avons même vu des enfants d’Enac.
29 Amalek [is] dwelling in [the] land of the Negev and the Hittite[s] and the Jebusite[s] and the Amorite[s] [is] dwelling in the hill country and the Canaanite[s] [is] dwelling at the sea and on [the] side of the Jordan.
Amalec habite la contrée du Négeb; le Hittite, le Jébuséen et l’Amorrhéen habitent dans la montagne, et le Chananéen habite au bord de la mer et le long du Jourdain. »
30 And he silenced Caleb the people to Moses and he said certainly we will go up and we will take possession of it for certainly we will prevail to it.
Caleb fit taire le peuple au sujet de Moïse: « Montons, dit-il, emparons-nous du pays, car nous pouvons nous en rendre maîtres. »
31 And the men who they had gone up with him they said not we are able to go up against the people for [is] strong it more than us.
Mais les hommes qui y étaient montés avec lui, dirent: « Nous ne sommes pas capables de monter contre ce peuple: il est plus fort que nous. »
32 And they brought out bad report of the land which they had spied out it to [the] people of Israel saying the land which we passed in it to spy out it [is] a land [which] devours inhabitants its it and all the people which we saw in [the] midst of it [were] men of stature.
Et ils décrièrent devant les enfants d’Israël le pays qu’ils avaient exploré, en disant: « Le pays que nous avons parcouru pour l’explorer, est un pays qui dévore ses habitants; tout le peuple que nous y avons vu est formé de gens de haute taille;
33 And there we saw the Nephilim [the] descendants of Anak [were] from the Nephilim and we were in own eyes our like grasshoppers and thus we were in view their.
et nous y avons vu les géants, fils d’Enac, de la race des géants: nous étions à nos yeux et aux leurs comme des sauterelles. »
