Matthew 5
1 Having seen then the crowds He went up on the mountain, and when was sitting down He they came to Him the disciples of Him.
Toen Jesus de menigte zag, besteeg Hij de berg; en nadat Hij Zich had neergezet, naderden zijn leerlingen tot Hem.
2 And opening the mouth of Him He was teaching them saying:
En Hij opende de mond, om hen te onderrichten, en sprak:
3 Blessed [are] the poor in the spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens.
Zalig de armen van geest; want hun behoort het rijk der hemelen.
4 Blessed [are] those mourning, for they themselves will be comforted.
Zalig de zachtmoedigen; want ze zullen het Land bezitten.
5 Blessed [are] the meek, for they themselves will inherit the earth.
Zalig, die wenen; want ze zullen worden getroost.
6 Blessed [are] those hungering and thirsting for righteousness, for they themselves will be filled.
Zalig, die hongeren en dorsten naar de gerechtigheid; want ze zullen worden verzadigd.
7 Blessed [are] the merciful, for they themselves will receive mercy.
Zalig de barmhartigen; want ze zullen barmhartigheid ondervinden.
8 Blessed [are] the pure in heart, for they themselves God will see.
Zalig de zuiveren van hart; want ze zullen God zien.
9 Blessed [are] the peacemakers, for they themselves sons of God will be called.
Zalig de vreedzamen; want ze zullen kinderen Gods worden genoemd.
10 Blessed [are] those persecuted on account of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens.
Zalig, die vervolging lijden om de gerechtigheid; want hun behoort het rijk der hemelen.
11 Blessed are you when they may insult you and they may persecute [you] and they may say all kinds of evil (declaration *k*) against you lying on account of Me.
Zalig zijt gij, als men u om Mijnentwil beschimpt en vervolgt, en vals beschuldigt van allerlei kwaad.
12 do rejoice and do exult, for the reward of you [is] great in the heavens; thus for they persecuted the prophets before you.
Verheugt en verblijdt u, want groot is uw loon in de hemel; zo toch heeft men de profeten vervolgd, die vóór u zijn geweest.
13 You yourselves are the salt of the earth; if however the salt shall become tasteless, with what will it be salted? For no [thing] it is useful any longer only except for (being cast *N(k)O*) out (and *k*) is to be trampled upon by men.
Gij zijt het zout der aarde. Maar als het zout smakeloos wordt, waarmee zal men het zouten? Het is nergens meer goed voor, dan om weggegooid te worden, en door de mensen te worden vertrapt.
14 You yourselves are the light of the world; Not is able a city to be hidden on a hill lying;
Gij zijt het licht der wereld. Een stad, die boven op de berg is gelegen, kan niet verborgen blijven.
15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket but upon the lampstand, and it shines for all those in the house.
Ook steekt men geen licht aan, om het onder de korenmaat te zetten; maar op de kandelaar, om het te laten schijnen voor allen, die in huis zijn.
16 Thus should shine the light of you before men so that they may see your good works and they may glorify the Father of you who [is] in the heavens.
Zo moet ook uw licht voor de mensen schijnen, opdat ze uw goede werken mogen zien, en uw Vader verheerlijken, die in de hemel is.
17 Not may think that I have come to abolish the law or the Prophets; not I have come to abolish but to fulfill.
Meent niet, dat Ik gekomen ben, om de Wet of de Profeten op te heffen. Ik ben niet komen opheffen, maar volmaken.
18 Amen for I say to you; until when may pass away the heaven and the earth, iota one or one stroke of a letter certainly not may pass away from the law until when everything may happen.
Voorwaar, Ik zeg u: Eer hemel en aarde vergaan, zal er geen jota of stip van de Wet vergaan, totdat alles is volbracht.
19 Who[ever] if then shall break one of the commandments of these the least and shall teach so the others, least he will be called in the kingdom of the heavens. who[ever] now maybe may keep and may teach [them], this [one] great will be called in the kingdom of the heavens.
Wie dus een van die kleinste geboden opheft en dit aan de mensen leert, zal de minste worden genoemd in het rijk der hemelen; maar wie ze onderhoudt en ze leert, hij zal groot worden genoemd in het rijk der hemelen.
20 I say for to you that only unless shall abound your righteousness above [that] of the scribes and Pharisees, certainly not shall you enter into the kingdom of the heavens.
Ik zeg u: Zo uw gerechtigheid niet groter is dan die van schriftgeleerden en farizeën, dan zult gij het rijk der hemelen niet binnengaan.
21 You have heard that it was said to the ancients; Not you will murder; who[ever] now maybe may murder, liable will be to the judgment;’
Gij hebt gehoord, dat tot de ouden gezegd is: Gij zult niet doden; en wie doodslag begaat, zal schuldig zijn voor het gerecht.
22 I myself however say to you that everyone who is being angry with the brother of him (in vain *KO*) liable will be to the judgment; who[ever] now maybe may say to the brother of him; Raca,’ liable will be to the Sanhedrin; who[ever] now maybe may say; Fool, liable will be to the hell of fire. Maar Ik zeg u: Wie vertoornd is op zijn broeder, zal schuldig zijn voor het gerecht. Wie tot zijn broeder zegt: Raka, zal schuldig zijn voor de Hoge Raad. En wie zegt: Dwaas, zal strafbaar zijn met het helse vuur. (Geenna g1067)
23 If therefore you shall offer the gift of you at the altar and there and there shall remember that the brother of you has something against you,
Als ge dus uw offergave brengt naar het altaar, en u daar herinnert, dat uw broeder iets tegen u heeft,
24 do leave there the gift of you before the altar and do go away, first do be reconciled to the brother of you, and then having come do offer the gift of you.
laat dan uw offer voor het altaar, en ga u eerst met uw broeder verzoenen; kom dan terug, en draag uw offer op.
25 do be agreeing with the accuser of you quickly before which you are with him on the way otherwise otherwise you shall deliver the accuser to the judge, and the judge (you he may betray *KO*) to the officer, and into prison you will be cast.
Versta u spoedig met uw tegenpartij, terwijl ge nog met hem onderweg zijt; anders zal uw tegenpartij u misschien overleveren aan den rechter, en de rechter u overleveren aan den gerechtsdienaar, en zult ge in de gevangenis worden geworpen.
26 Amen I say to you; certainly not you may come out from there until when you may pay the last kodranten!
Voorwaar, Ik zeg u: Ge zult daar niet uitkomen, voordat ge de laatste penning hebt betaald.
27 You have heard that it was said (to the ancients: *K*) Not will you commit adultery.’
Gij hebt gehoord, dat er gezegd is: Gij zult geen overspel doen.
28 I myself however say to you that everyone who is looking upon a woman in order to lust after (her *N(k)O*) already has committed adultery with her in the heart of him.
Maar Ik zeg u: Wie met begeerte naar een vrouw ziet, heeft reeds overspel met haar gepleegd in zijn hart.
29 If now the eye of you right causes to stumble you, do pluck out it and do cast [it] from you; it is better indeed for you that may perish one of the members of you and not all the body of you may be cast into hell. (Geenna g1067)
Als uw rechteroog u ergert, ruk het dan uit en werp het van u weg; want beter is het voor u, dat één uwer ledematen verloren gaat, dan dat heel uw lichaam in de hel wordt geworpen. (Geenna g1067)
30 And if the right of you hand causes to stumble you, do cut off it and do cast [it] from you; it is better indeed for you that may perish one of the members of you and not all the body of you into hell (may depart. *N(K)O*) (Geenna g1067)
En zo uw rechterhand u ergert, houw ze af, en werp ze van u weg; want beter is het voor u, dat één uwer ledematen verloren gaat, dan dat heel uw lichaam in de hel wordt geworpen. (Geenna g1067)
31 It was said also (that: *k*) Who[ever] maybe may divorce the wife of him, he should give to her a letter of divorce.’
Er is gezegd: Wie zijn vrouw verstoot, moet haar een scheidingsbrief geven.
32 I myself however say to you that (everyone who is divorcing *N(k)O*) the wife of him except on account of sexual immorality causes her (to be adulterated; *N(K)O*) And who[ever] if divorced shall marry, commits adultery.
Maar Ik zeg u: Wie zijn vrouw verstoot, behalve in geval van overspel, is oorzaak, dat ze overspel bedrijft; en wie een verstoten vrouw huwt, pleegt echtbreuk.
33 Again you have heard that it was said to the ancients; Not will you swear falsely, you will keep now to the Lord the oaths of you.
Gij hebt ook gehoord, dat tot de ouden gezegd is: Gij zult geen meineed doen, maar den Heer uw eden houden.
34 I myself however say to you not to swear at all, neither [swear] by heaven because [the] throne it is of God,
Maar Ik zeg u, in het geheel niet te zweren: noch bij de hemel, want hij is Gods troon;
35 nor [swear] by the earth because [the] footstool it is of the feet of Him, nor [swear] by Jerusalem because [the] city it is of the great King,
noch bij de aarde, want ze is zijn voetbank; noch bij Jerusalem, want ze is de stad van den groten Koning.
36 nor by the head of you may you swear because not you are able one hair white to make or black.
Ook bij uw hoofd zult ge niet zweren; want ge kunt nog niet eens één enkel haar wit of zwart maken.
37 should be however the statement of you Yes Yes, [and] ‘No ‘No; The however excessive of these from evil comes.
Maar uw woord zij: ja, ja; neen, neen; wat daar bijkomt, is uit den boze.
38 You have heard that it was said; Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.’
Gij hebt gehoord, dat gezegd is: Oog voor oog, tand voor tand.
39 I myself however say to you not to resist the evil [person]. Instead whoever you (strike on *N(k)O*) the right cheek of you, do turn to him also the other;
Maar Ik zeg u, geen weerstand te bieden aan het onrecht. Als iemand u op de rechterwang slaat, keer hem ook de andere toe.
40 and to the [one] willing you to sue and the tunic of you to take, do yield to him also the cloak;
Wil iemand u voor het gerecht dagen, en u het onderkleed nemen, laat hem ook de mantel.
41 and whoever you will compel to go mile one, do go with him two.
Dwingt iemand u duizend schreden te gaan, leg er met hem tweeduizend af.
42 To the [one] asking you (do give *N(k)O*) and the [one] desiring from you to borrow not may you turn away from.
Geef aan wie u iets vraagt; en wend u niet af van hem, die bij u lenen wil.
43 You have heard that it was said; You will love the neighbour of you and will hate the enemy of you.’
Gij hebt gehoord, dat er gezegd is: Uw naaste zult ge beminnen, en uw vijand zult ge haten.
44 I myself however say to you; do love the enemies of you (do bless those cursing you well do *K*) (to those hating *K(o)*) (you *K*) and do pray for those (mistreating you and *K*) persecuting you,
Maar Ik zeg u: Bemint uw vijanden, en bidt voor wie u lasteren en vervolgen;
45 so that you may be sons of the Father of you who is in (the *o*) heavens, For the sun of Him He makes rise on evil and good and He sends rain on righteous and unrighteous.
opdat gij kinderen moogt zijn van uw Vader in de hemel, die zijn zon doet opgaan over slechten en goeden, en het regenen laat over rechtvaardigen en onrechtvaardigen.
46 If for you shall love those loving you, what reward have you? Surely also the tax collectors the (same *NK(o)*) do?
Want zo gij bemint, die u liefhebben, welk loon zult gij dan ontvangen? Doen dat ook de tollenaars niet?
47 And if you shall greet the (brothers *NK(O)*) of you only, what excessive do you? Surely also the (Gentiles *N(K)O*) (the *no*) (same *N(k)O*) do?
En zo gij alleen uw broeders groet, wat bijzonders doet gij dan wel? Doen dat ook de heidenen niet?
48 Will be therefore you yourselves perfect (how *N(k)O*) the Father of you who (Heavenly *N(K)O*) perfect is.
Weest dus volmaakt, zoals uw hemelse Vader volmaakt is.
