Matthew 4
1 Then Jesus was led up into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted by the devil.
Tunc Iesus ductus est in desertum a Spiritu, ut tentaretur a diabolo.
2 And having fasted days forty and nights forty afterward He was hungry.
Et cum ieiunasset quadraginta diebus, et quadraginta noctibus, postea esuriit.
3 And having come the [one] tempting he said to Him; If Son You are of God, (do speak *NK(O)*) that stones these loaves of bread may become.
Et accedens tentator dixit ei: Si filius Dei es, dic ut lapides isti panes fiant.
4 But answering He said; It has been written: Not by bread alone will live (the *no*) man, but (by *NK(o)*) every declaration coming out through [the] mouth of God.’
Qui respondens dixit: Scriptum est: Non in solo pane vivit homo, sed in omni verbo, quod procedit de ore Dei.
5 Then takes Him the devil to the holy city and (set *N(k)O*) Him upon the pinnacle of the temple
Tunc assumpsit eum diabolus in sanctam civitatem, et statuit eum super pinnaculum templi,
6 and says to him; If Son You are of God, do throw Yourself down; it has been written for that To the angels of Him He will give orders concerning You, and in [their] hands will they bear up You otherwise otherwise You may strike against a stone the foot of You.’
et dixit ei: Si filius Dei es, mitte te deorsum. Scriptum est enim: Quia angelis suis mandavit de te, ut in manibus tollant te, ne forte offendas ad lapidem pedem tuum.
7 was saying to him Jesus; Again it has been written: Not you will test [the] Lord the God of you.’
Ait illi Iesus rursum: Scriptum est: Non tentabis Dominum Deum tuum.
8 Again takes Him the devil to a mountain high exceedingly and shows to Him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them
Iterum assumpsit eum diabolus in montem excelsum valde: et ostendit ei omnia regna mundi, et gloriam eorum,
9 and (he says *N(k)O*) to Him; These things to You all will I give, if falling down You shall worship me.
et dixit ei: Haec omnia tibi dabo, si cadens adoraveris me.
10 Then says to him Jesus; do go away (behind me *O*) Satan; it has been written for: [The] Lord the God of you you will worship and Him alone will you serve.’
Tunc dicit ei Iesus: Vade Satana: Scriptum est enim: Dominum Deum tuum adorabis, et illi soli servies.
11 Then leaves Him the devil, and behold angels came and they were ministering to Him.
Tunc reliquit eum diabolus: et ecce angeli accesserunt, et ministrabant ei.
12 Having heard now (Jesus *k*) that John was delivered up He withdrew into Galilee.
Cum autem audisset Iesus quod Ioannes traditus esset, secessit in Galilaeam:
13 And having left Nazareth, having come he dwelt at Capernaum which [is] on the sea-side in [the] region of Zebulun and of Naphtali,
et, relicta civitate Nazareth, venit, et habitavit in Capharnaum maritima, in finibus Zabulon et Nephthalim:
14 that it may be fulfilled that having been spoken through Isaiah the prophet saying:
ut adimpleretur quod dictum est per Isaiam prophetam:
15 Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, way of [the] sea beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles —
Terra Zabulon, et terra Nephtalim, via maris trans Iordanem, Galilaeae gentium:
16 The nation the [one] sitting in (darkness *NK(o)*) light have seen great, and to those sitting in [the] land and in a shadow of death a light has dawned on them.
populus, qui ambulabat in tenebris, vidit lucem magnam: et sedentibus in regione umbrae mortis, lux orta est eis.
17 From that time began Jesus to proclaim and to say; do repent; has drawn near for the kingdom of the heavens.
Exinde coepit Iesus praedicare, et dicere: Poenitentiam agite: appropinquabit enim regnum caelorum.
18 Walking now (Jesus *k*) beside the Sea of Galilee He saw two brothers, Simon the [one] being named Peter and Andrew the brother of him casting a net into the sea; they were for fishermen.
Ambulans autem Iesus iuxta mare Galilaeae, vidit duos fratres, Simonem, qui vocatur Petrus, et Andream fratrem eius, mittentes rete in mare, (erant enim piscatores)
19 And He says to them; Come after Me, and I will make you fishers of men.
et ait illis: Venite post me, et faciam vos fieri piscatores hominum.
20 And immediately having left the nets they followed Him.
At illi continuo relictis retibus secuti sunt eum.
21 And having gone on from there He saw others two brothers, James the [son] of Zebedee and John the brother of him in the boat with Zebedee the father of them mending the nets of them, and He called them.
Et procedens inde, vidit alios duos fratres, Iacobum Zebedaei, et Ioannem fratrem eius in navi cum Zebedaeo patre eorum, reficientes retia sua: et vocavit eos.
22 And immediately having left the boat and the father of them they followed Him.
Illi autem statim relictis retibus et patre, secuti sunt eum.
23 And He was going (through *no*) (all Galilee *N(k)O*) (Jesus *ko*) teaching in the synagogues of them and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
Et circuibat Iesus totam Galilaeam, docens in synagogis eorum, et praedicans evangelium regni: et sanans omnem languorem, et omnem infirmitatem in populo.
24 And went out the news of Him into all Syria; And they brought to Him all the sick having various diseases and by pains oppressing, and those being demonised and those being epileptic and those paralytic; and He healed them.
Et abiit opinio eius in totam Syriam, et obtulerunt ei omnes male habentes, variis languoribus, et tormentis comprehensos, et qui daemonia habebant, et lunaticos, et paralyticos, et curavit eos:
25 And followed Him crowds great from Galilee and [the] Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and beyond the Jordan.
et secutae sunt eum turbae multae de Galilaea, et Decapoli, et de Ierosolymis, et de Iudaea, et de trans Iordanem.
