Matthew 16
1 And having approached the Pharisees and Sadducees, testing they asked Him a sign out of heaven to show them.
| ויגשו הפרושים והצדוקים לנסותו וישאלו מאתו להראותם אות מן השמים׃ |
2 And answering He said to them; Evening having come you say; Fair weather, is red for the sky.
| ויען ויאמר להם בערב תאמרו יום צח יהיה כי אדמו השמים׃ |
3 And in the morning; Today a storm, is red for being overcast the sky. (hypocrites *K*) The indeed appearance of the sky you know [how] to discern, however the signs of the times not you are able?
| ובבקר תאמרו היום סער כי אדמו והתקדרו השמים חנפים אתם את פני השמים ידעתם לבחן ואתות העתים לא תוכלו׃ |
4 A generation evil and adulterous a sign seeks; and a sign not will be given to it only except the sign of Jonah (prophet. *K*) And having left them He went away.
| דור רע ומנאף בקש לו אות ואות לא ינתן לו בלתי אם אות יונה הנביא ויעזבם וילך לו׃ |
5 And having come the disciples (of him *k*) to the other side they forgot bread to take.
| וכבוא התלמידים אל עבר הים שכחו לקחת אתם לחם׃ |
6 And Jesus said to them; do watch and do beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
| ויאמר ישוע אליהם ראו והשמרו לכם משאר הפרושים והצדוקים׃ |
7 And they were reasoning among themselves saying Because bread not we took.
| ויחשבו בלבבם לאמר כי לא לקחנו אתנו לחם׃ |
8 Having known [this] however Jesus said (to them: *k*) Why reason you among yourselves, O [you] of little faith, because bread not (you take? *N(K)O*)
| וידע ישוע ויאמר אליהם קטני האמונה מה תחשבו בלבבכם כי לא לקחתם אתכם לחם׃ |
9 Not yet do you understand nor remember the five loaves for the five thousand and how many hand-baskets you gathered?
| העוד לא תשכילו ולא תזכרו את חמשת ככרות הלחם לחמשת אלפי איש וכמה סלים נשאתם׃ |
10 Nor [remember] the seven loaves for the four thousand and how many baskets you gathered?
| ואת שבע ככרות לחם לארבעת אלפי איש וכמה דודים נשאתם׃ |
11 How not understand you that not concerning (loaves *N(k)O*) I spoke to you? (do beware *N(k)O*) (also *no*) of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees!
| איך לא תבינו כי לא על הלחם אמרתי אליכם השמרו לכם משאר הפרושים והצדוקים׃ |
12 Then they understood that not He said to beware of the leaven (of the loaves *N(k)O*) but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
| אז הבינו כי לא אמר להשמר משאר הלחם כי אם מלמוד הפרושים והצדוקים׃ |
13 Having come then Jesus into the district of Caesarea Philippi He was questioning the disciples of Him saying; Whom (Me *k*) do pronounce men to be the Son of man?
| ויהי כבוא ישוע אל גלילות קיסרין של פילפוס וישאל את תלמידיו לאמר מה אמרים האנשים עלי מי הוא בן האדם׃ |
14 And they said: Some indeed, John the Baptist, others however, Elijah, others however, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.
| ויאמרו יש אמרים יוחנן המטביל הוא ואחרים אמרים אליהו ויש אמרים ירמיהו או אחד מן הנביאים׃ |
15 He says to them; You yourselves but whom Me do you pronounce to be?
| ויאמר אליהם ואתם מה תאמרו מי אני׃ |
16 Answering now Simon Peter said; You yourself are the Christ the Son of God the living.
| ויען שמעון פטרוס ויאמר אתה הוא המשיח בן אלהים חיים׃ |
17 (and *k*) Answering (now *no*) Jesus said to him; Blessed are you, Simon Barjona! For flesh and blood not revealed [it] to you but the Father of Mine who [is] in the heavens.
| ויען ויאמר אליו אשריך שמעון בר יונה כי בשר ודם לא גלה לך את זאת כי אם אבי שבשמים׃ |
18 I myself also I myself also now to you say that you yourself are Peter and on this the rock I will build My church, and [the] gates of hades not will prevail against it. (Hadēs g86)
| ואף אני אמר אליך כי אתה פטרוס ועל הסלע הזה אבנה את קהלתי ושערי שאול לא יגברו עליה׃ (Hadēs g86) |
19 (and *ko*) I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of the heavens, and whatever (if *NK(o)*) you shall bind on the earth, will be bound in the heavens, and whatever (maybe *NK(o)*) you shall loose on the earth, will be loosed in the heavens.
| ואתן לך את מפתחות מלכות השמים וכל אשר תאסר על הארץ אסור יהיה בשמים וכל אשר תתיר על הארץ מתר יהיה בשמים׃ |
20 Then (he ordered *NK(O)*) the disciples (of him *k*) that to no one they may say that He himself is (Jesus *k*) the Christ.
| אז צוה את התלמידים בגערה לבלתי הגיד לאיש כי הוא ישוע המשיח׃ |
21 From that time began Jesus (Christ *O*) to show to the disciples of Him that it is necessary for Him to Jerusalem to go away and many things to suffer from the elders and chief priests and scribes and to be killed and on the third day to be raised.
| מן העת ההיא החל ישוע להורות את תלמידיו שהוא צריך ללכת ירושלים ויענה הרבה בידי הזקנים והכהנים הגדולים והסופרים ויהרג וביום השלישי קום יקום׃ |
22 And having taken aside Him Peter began to rebuke Him saying; Far be it from You, Lord; certainly not will be to You this.
| ויקחהו פטרוס ויחל לגער בו לאמר חס לך אדני אל יהי לך כזאת׃ |
23 And having turned He said to Peter; do go behind Me Satan! A stumbling block you are (to me, *N(k)O*) For not your thoughts are of those of God but [of] the [things] of men.
| ויפן ויאמר לפטרוס סור מעלי השטן למכשול אתה לי כי אין לבך לדברי אלהים כי אם לדברי בני אדם׃ |
24 Then Jesus said to the disciples of Him; If anyone desires after Me to come, he should deny himself and he should take up the cross of him and he should follow Me.
| ויאמר ישוע אל תלמידיו איש כי יחפץ ללכת אחרי יכחש בנפשו ונשא את צלבו והלך אחרי׃ |
25 Who[ever] for (maybe *N(k)O*) shall desire the life of him to save, will lose it; who[ever] however maybe shall lose the life of him on account of Me, will find it.
| כי כל אשר יחפץ להושיע את נפשו תאבד נפשו ממנו וכל אשר תאבד לו נפשו למעני הוא ימצאנה׃ |
26 What for (will it be profitable *N(k)O*) [for] a man, if the world whole he shall gain, but the soul of him shall lose? Or what will give a man [as] an exchange for the soul of him?
| כי מה יועיל האדם כי יקנה את כל העולם ונפשו תשחת או מה יתן האדם פדיון נפשו׃ |
27 Is about for the Son of the man to come in the glory of the Father of Him with the angels of Him and then He will give to each according to the deeds of him.
| כי עתיד בן האדם לבוא בכבוד אביו עם מלאכיו ואז ישלם לכל איש כמעשהו׃ |
28 Amen I say to you (that *no*) there are some of those here (already standing *NK(o)*) who certainly not shall taste of death until when they may have seen the Son of Man coming in the kingdom of Him.
| אמן אמר אני לכם כי יש מן העמדים פה אשר לא יטעמו מות עד כי יראו את בן האדם בא במלכותו׃ |
