Judges 1
1 And it was after [the] death of Joshua and they enquired [the] people of Israel by Yahweh saying who? will he go up for us against the Canaanite[s] at the first to engage in battle against him.
Il advint, après la mort de Josué, que les fils d'Israël consultèrent le Seigneur, disant: Quel chef nous conduira contre les Chananéens pour les combattre?
2 And he said Yahweh Judah he will go up here! I have given the land in hand his.
Et le Seigneur dit: Juda marchera; voilà que j'ai mis en sa main la terre promise.
3 And he said Judah to Simeon brother his come up with me in lot my so let us fight against the Canaanite[s] and I will go also I with you in lot your and he went with him Simeon.
Et Juda dit à Siméon, son frère: Viens avec moi sur mes terres, et nous livrerons bataille aux Chananéens, ensuite j'irai avec toi sur ton territoire. Et Siméon marcha avec lui.
4 And he went up Judah and he gave Yahweh the Canaanite[s] and the Perizzite[s] in hand their and they defeated them at Bezek ten thousand man.
Juda partit donc, et le Seigneur livra à ses mains le Chananéen et le Phérézéen; il les tailla en pièces à Bézec au nombre de dix mille.
5 And they found Adoni-Bezek at Bezek and they fought against him and they defeated the Canaanite[s] and the Perizzite[s].
Après avoir surpris à Bézec Adonibézec, ils lui livrèrent bataille, et taillèrent en pièces le Chananéen et le Phérézéen.
6 And he fled Adoni-Bezek and they pursued after him and they seized him and they cut off [the] thumbs of hands his and feet his.
Adonibézec prit la fuite, ils coururent après lui, l'atteignirent et lui coupèrent les extrémités des pieds et des mains.
7 And he said Adoni-Bezek seventy - kings [the] thumbs of hands their and feet their cut off they were gathering up under table my just as I have done so he has repaid to me God and they brought him Jerusalem and he died there.
Alors, Adonibézec dit: Soixante-dix rois à qui j'avais fait couper les extrémités des pieds et des mains, ont ramassé ce qui tombait sous ma table. Dieu m'a donc traité comme j'ai traité autrui. Et ils le conduisirent à Jérusalem, où il mourut.
8 And they fought [the] descendants of Judah against Jerusalem and they captured it and they struck it to [the] mouth of [the] sword and the city they sent in fire.
Et, les fils de Juda assiégèrent Jérusalem; ils la prirent, ils passèrent les habitants au fil de l'épée, et ils incendièrent la ville.
9 And after they went down [the] descendants of Judah to fight against the Canaanite[s] [who] dwelt of the hill country and the Negev and the Shephelah.
Après cela, les fils de Juda descendirent pour combattre le Chananéen qui habitait les montagnes du midi et la plaine.
10 And he went Judah against the Canaanite[s] who dwelt in Hebron and [the] name of Hebron before [was] Kiriath Arba and they defeated Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai.
Et Juda marcha contre le Chananéen qui habitait Hébron, et tout Hébron sortit à sa rencontre; le nom d'Hébron était autrefois Cariath-Arboc-Sépher; Juda vainquit Sessi, Achiraan et Tholmi, de la race d'Enac.
11 And he went from there against [the] inhabitants of Debir and [the] name of Debir before [was] Kiriath Sepher.
De là, il monta pour attaquer Dabir; or, le nom de Dabir était autrefois Cariath-Sépher, ou Ville des Lettres.
12 And he said Caleb [the one] who he will strike Kiriath Sepher and he will capture it and I will give to him Achsah daughter my to a wife.
Et Caleb dit: Celui qui montera à l'assaut de la Ville des Lettres et la prendra, je lui donnerai pour femme ma fille Ascha.
13 And he captured it Othniel [the] son of Kenaz [the] brother of Caleb young more than him and he gave to him Achsah daughter his to a wife.
Et Gothoniel, fils de Cénez, frère puîné de Caleb, prit la ville; et Caleb lui donna pour femme sa fille Ascha.
14 And it was when came she and she incited him to ask from with father her the field and she went down from on the donkey and he said to her Caleb what? [is] to you.
Tandis qu'elle s'en allait, Gothoniel lui persuada de demander à son père un champ, et, montée sur son âne, elle murmura et cria: Tu m'as établie en une terre du midi. Et Caleb lui dit: Qu'as-tu?
15 And she said to him give! to me a blessing for [the] land of the Negev you have given to me and you will give to me springs of water and he gave to her Caleb springs upper and springs lower.
Et Ascha lui dit: Accorde-moi un bienfait; tu m'as établie en une terre du midi; tu me donneras une terre arrosée d'eau - Et Caleb lui donna, selon son cœur, une terre arrosée en haut et en bas.
16 And [the] descendants of [the] Kenite [the] father-in-law of Moses they went up from [the] city of the palm trees with [the] descendants of Judah [the] wilderness of Judah which [is] in [the] Negev Arad and he went and he dwelt with the people.
En ce temps-là, les fils de Jéthro le Cinéen, beau-père de Moïse, montèrent de la Ville des Palmiers, pour se réunir aux fils de Juda, dans le désert, au midi de Juda, vers la descente d'Arad, et ils demeurèrent parmi le peuple.
17 And he went Judah with Simeon brother his and they attacked the Canaanite[s] [who] dwelt of Zephath and they totally destroyed it and he called [the] name of the city Hormah.
Ensuite, Juda marcha avec son frère Siméon; ils vainquirent le Chananéen qui habitait en Sépheth, ils l'exterminèrent, et ils donnèrent à cette ville le nom d'Anathème.
18 And he captured Judah Gaza and territory its and Ashkelon and territory its and Ekron and territory its.
Mais Juda ne prit possession ni de Gaza, ni de son territoire; ni d'Ascalon, ni de son territoire; ni d'Accaron, ni de son territoire; ni d'Asor, ni de son territoire.
19 And he was Yahweh (with *L(abh)*) Judah and it took possession of the hill country for not to dispossess [the] inhabitants of the valley for chariotry of iron [belonged] to them.
Toutefois, le Seigneur était avec Juda; il eut dans son héritage la contrée montagneuse, mais il ne put exterminer les habitants de la côte, parce que Rhéchab s'y opposait.
20 And people gave to Caleb Hebron just as he had said Moses and he dispossessed from there three [the] sons of Anak.
Quant à Caleb, on lui avait donné, selon l'ordre de Moïse, le territoire d'Hébron, où il eut dans son héritage les trois villes des fils d'Enac.
21 And the Jebusite[s] [who] dwelt of Jerusalem not they dispossessed [the] descendants of Benjamin and he has dwelt the Jebusite[s] with [the] descendants of Benjamin in Jerusalem until the day this.
Les fils de Benjamin ne purent s'emparer du territoire des Jébuséens qui habitaient Jérusalem; les Jebuséens, jusqu'à ce jour, ont donc habité Jérusalem avec les fils de Benjamin.
22 And they went up [the] house of Joseph also they Beth-el and Yahweh [was] with them.
De leur côté, les fils de Joseph montèrent à Béthel, et le Seigneur était avec eux,
23 And they caused to spy out [the] house of Joseph at Beth-el and [the] name of the city before [was] Luz.
Et, après avoir établi leur camp, ils reconnurent Béthel, dont le nom était autrefois Luza.
24 And they saw those [who] watched a man coming out from the city and they said to him show us please [the] entrance of the city and we will do with you loyalty.
Or, les gardes virent un homme qui sortait de la ville; ils le prirent, et ils lui dirent: Montre-nous par où l'on peut entrer dans la ville, et nous serons miséricordieux envers toi.
25 And he showed them [the] entrance of the city and they struck the city to [the] mouth of [the] sword and the man and all family his they let go.
Et il leur montra l'entrée de la ville, et ils passèrent la ville au fil de l'épée, et ils laissèrent aller l'homme avec toute sa famille.
26 And he went the man [the] land of the Hittites and he built a city and he called name its Luz that [is] name its until the day this.
L'homme s'en alla dans la terre d'Heltim; il y bâtit une ville, et il lui donna le nom de Luza, qu'elle porte encore de nos jours.
27 And not it took possession of Manasseh Beth Shean and daughters its and Taanach and daughters its and ([the] inhabitants of *Q(K)*) Dor and daughters its and [the] inhabitants of Ibleam and daughters its and [the] inhabitants of Megiddo and daughters its and it was determined the Canaanite[s] to dwell in the land this.
Manassé ne détruisit ni Bethsan, qui est une ville des Scythes; ni ses filles, ni ses alentours; ni Thanac, ni ses dépendances; ni les habitants de Dor, ni leurs dépendances; ni l'habitant de Balac, ni ses filles, ni ses dépendances; ni Magedo, ni ses filles, ni ses alentours; ni Jéblaam, ni ses filles, ni ses alentours. Les Chananéens commencèrent à habiter cette terre avec eux.
28 And it was that it became strong Israel and it made the Canaanite[s] into forced labor and certainly not it dispossessed him.
Mais, lorsque Israël eut pris des forces, il assujettit le Chananéen au tribut, quoiqu'il ne le détruisit pas.
29 And Ephraim not it dispossessed the Canaanite[s] who dwelt in Gezer and it dwelt the Canaanite[s] in midst its in Gezer.
Ephraïm ne détruisit pas le Chananéen qui habitait Gazer; le Chananéen continua de demeurer à Gazer avec lui, et lui paya un tribut.
30 Zebulun not it dispossessed [the] inhabitants of Kitron and [the] inhabitants of Nahalol and it dwelt the Canaanite[s] in midst its and they became forced labor.
Zabulon ne détruisit pas les habitants de Cédron, ni ceux de Domana. Le Chananéen continua de demeurer avec lui, et devint son tributaire.
31 Asher not it dispossessed [the] inhabitants of Acco and [the] inhabitants of Sidon and Ahlab and Aczib and Helbah and Aphek and Rehob.
Aser ne détruisit pas les habitants d'Accho; ils devinrent ses tributaires; il ne détruisit pas les habitants de Dor, ni ceux de Sidon, de Dalaph, d'Aschazi, de Chebda, de Naï et d'Eréo.
32 And it dwelt the Asherite[s] in [the] midst of the Canaanite[s] [the] inhabitants of the land for not it dispossessed it.
Aser demeura au milieu des Chananéens qui habitaient cette terre, parce qu'il ne put les détruire.
33 Naphtali not it dispossessed [the] inhabitants of Beth Shemesh and [the] inhabitants of Beth Anath and it dwelt in [the] midst of the Canaanite[s] [the] inhabitants of the land and [the] inhabitants of Beth Shemesh and Beth Anath they became for them forced labor.
Nephthali ne détruisit pas les habitants de Bethsamys, ni ceux de Béthanath; Nephthali demeura au milieu du Chananéen qui habitait la contrée. Ceux de Bethsamys et de Béthanath devinrent ses tributaires.
34 And they pressed the Amorite[s] [the] descendants of Dan the hill country towards for not it permitted it to go down to the valley.
L'Amorrhéen resserra Dan sur les montagnes; il ne lui permit pas de descendre dans les vallées.
35 And it was determined the Amorite[s] to dwell in [the] mountain of Heres in Aijalon and in Shaalbim and it was heavy [the] hand of [the] house of Joseph and they became forced labor.
Les Amorrhéens commencèrent même à habiter la montagne de l'Argile, où il y a des ours et des renards; ils eurent Myrsinon et Thalabin; mais la main de la maison de Joseph s'appesantit sur l'Amorrhéen, et celui-ci devint son tributaire.
36 And [the] border of the Amorite[s] [was] from [the] ascent of scorpions from Sela and up-wards.
Les limites de l'Amorrhéen furent la montée d'Acrabin, les rochers et les hauteurs qui les dominent.
