< Judges 1 >

1 And it was after [the] death of Joshua and they enquired [the] people of Israel by Yahweh saying who? will he go up for us against the Canaanite[s] at the first to engage in battle against him.
Après la mort de Josué, les enfants d'Israël consultèrent Yahweh, en disant: " Qui de nous montera le premier contre les Chananéens pour les combattre? "
2 And he said Yahweh Judah he will go up here! I have given the land in hand his.
Yahweh répondit: " Juda montera; voici que j'ai livré le pays entre ses mains. "
3 And he said Judah to Simeon brother his come up with me in lot my so let us fight against the Canaanite[s] and I will go also I with you in lot your and he went with him Simeon.
Et Juda dit à Siméon, son frère: " Monte avec moi dans le pays que le sort m'a assigné, et nous combattrons les Chananéens; j'irai aussi avec toi dans le pays que le sort t'a assigné. " Et Siméon alla avec lui.
4 And he went up Judah and he gave Yahweh the Canaanite[s] and the Perizzite[s] in hand their and they defeated them at Bezek ten thousand man.
Juda monta, et Yahweh livra entre leurs mains les Chananéens et les Phérézéens; ils battirent dix mille hommes à Bézec.
5 And they found Adoni-Bezek at Bezek and they fought against him and they defeated the Canaanite[s] and the Perizzite[s].
Ayant trouvé à Bézec Adoni-Bésec, ils l'attaquèrent et ils battirent les Chananéens et les Phérézéens.
6 And he fled Adoni-Bezek and they pursued after him and they seized him and they cut off [the] thumbs of hands his and feet his.

7 And he said Adoni-Bezek seventy - kings [the] thumbs of hands their and feet their cut off they were gathering up under table my just as I have done so he has repaid to me God and they brought him Jerusalem and he died there.
Adoni-Bésec dit: " Soixante-dix rois, ayant les pouces des pieds et des mains coupés, ramassaient les miettes sous ma table; ce que j'ai fait, Dieu me le rend. " On l'emmena à Jérusalem, et il y mourut.
8 And they fought [the] descendants of Judah against Jerusalem and they captured it and they struck it to [the] mouth of [the] sword and the city they sent in fire.
Les fils de Juda attaquèrent Jérusalem et, l'ayant prise, ils la frappèrent du tranchant de l'épée et mirent le feu à la ville.
9 And after they went down [the] descendants of Judah to fight against the Canaanite[s] [who] dwelt of the hill country and the Negev and the Shephelah.
Ensuite les fils de Juda descendirent pour combattre les Chananéens qui habitaient la montagne, le Négéb et la Séphéla.
10 And he went Judah against the Canaanite[s] who dwelt in Hebron and [the] name of Hebron before [was] Kiriath Arba and they defeated Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai.
Juda marcha contre les Chananéens qui habitaient à Hébron, appelée autrefois Cariath-Arbé, et il battit Sésaï, Ahiman et Tholmaï.
11 And he went from there against [the] inhabitants of Debir and [the] name of Debir before [was] Kiriath Sepher.
Il marcha de là contre les habitants de Dabir, qui s'appelait autrefois Cariath-Sépher.
12 And he said Caleb [the one] who he will strike Kiriath Sepher and he will capture it and I will give to him Achsah daughter my to a wife.
Caleb dit: " A celui qui frappera Cariath-Sépher et qui la prendra, je donnerai pour femme ma fille Axa. "
13 And he captured it Othniel [the] son of Kenaz [the] brother of Caleb young more than him and he gave to him Achsah daughter his to a wife.
Othoniel, fils de Cénez, frère cadet de Caleb, s'en empara, et Caleb lui donna sa fille Axa pour femme.
14 And it was when came she and she incited him to ask from with father her the field and she went down from on the donkey and he said to her Caleb what? [is] to you.
Lorsqu'elle alla chez Othoniel, elle l'excita à demander à son père un champ. Elle descendit de son âne, et Caleb lui dit: " Qu'as-tu? "
15 And she said to him give! to me a blessing for [the] land of the Negev you have given to me and you will give to me springs of water and he gave to her Caleb springs upper and springs lower.

16 And [the] descendants of [the] Kenite [the] father-in-law of Moses they went up from [the] city of the palm trees with [the] descendants of Judah [the] wilderness of Judah which [is] in [the] Negev Arad and he went and he dwelt with the people.
Les fils du Cinéen, beau-frère de Moïse, montèrent de la ville des palmiers, avec les fils de Juda, dans le désert de Juda, au midi d'Arad, et ils vinrent s'établir avec le peuple.
17 And he went Judah with Simeon brother his and they attacked the Canaanite[s] [who] dwelt of Zephath and they totally destroyed it and he called [the] name of the city Hormah.
Juda se mit en marche avec Siméon, son frère, et ils battirent les Chananéens qui habitaient Séphaath; ils dévouèrent la ville par anathème, et on l'appela Horma.
18 And he captured Judah Gaza and territory its and Ashkelon and territory its and Ekron and territory its.
Juda s'empara aussi de Gaza et de son territoire, d'Ascalon et de son territoire, d'Accaron et de son territoire.
19 And he was Yahweh (with *L(abh)*) Judah and it took possession of the hill country for not to dispossess [the] inhabitants of the valley for chariotry of iron [belonged] to them.
Yahweh fut avec Juda; et Juda prit possession de la montagne, mais il ne put chasser les habitants de la plaine, parce qu'ils avaient des chars de fer.
20 And people gave to Caleb Hebron just as he had said Moses and he dispossessed from there three [the] sons of Anak.
On donna Hébron à Caleb, comme l'avait dit Moïse, et il en chassa les trois fils d'Enac.
21 And the Jebusite[s] [who] dwelt of Jerusalem not they dispossessed [the] descendants of Benjamin and he has dwelt the Jebusite[s] with [the] descendants of Benjamin in Jerusalem until the day this.
Les fils de Benjamin ne chassèrent point les Jébuséens qui habitaient Jérusalem, et les Jébuséens ont habité à Jérusalem avec les fils de Benjamin, jusqu'à ce jour.
22 And they went up [the] house of Joseph also they Beth-el and Yahweh [was] with them.
La maison de Joseph, elle aussi, monta contre Béthel, et Yahweh fut avec eux.
23 And they caused to spy out [the] house of Joseph at Beth-el and [the] name of the city before [was] Luz.
La maison de Joseph fit faire une reconnaissance à Béthel, ville dont le nom était autrefois Luz.
24 And they saw those [who] watched a man coming out from the city and they said to him show us please [the] entrance of the city and we will do with you loyalty.
Les gardes, ayant aperçu un homme qui sortait de la ville, ils lui dirent: " Montre-nous par où on peut entrer dans la ville, et nous te ferons grâce. "
25 And he showed them [the] entrance of the city and they struck the city to [the] mouth of [the] sword and the man and all family his they let go.
Il leur montra par où ils pourraient entrer dans la ville, et ils frappèrent la ville du tranchant de l'épée, mais ils laissèrent aller cet homme avec toute sa famille.
26 And he went the man [the] land of the Hittites and he built a city and he called name its Luz that [is] name its until the day this.
Cet homme se rendit dans le pays des Héthéens; il bâtit une ville et la nomma Luz, et c'est son nom jusqu'à ce jour.
27 And not it took possession of Manasseh Beth Shean and daughters its and Taanach and daughters its and ([the] inhabitants of *Q(K)*) Dor and daughters its and [the] inhabitants of Ibleam and daughters its and [the] inhabitants of Megiddo and daughters its and it was determined the Canaanite[s] to dwell in the land this.
Manassé ne chassa pas les habitants de Bethsan et des villes de sa dépendance, ni ceux de Thanac et des villes de sa dépendance, ni les habitants de Dor et des villes de sa dépendance, ni les habitants de Jéblaam et des villes de sa dépendance, ni les habitants de Mageddo et des villes de sa dépendance; et les Chananéens s'enhardirent à rester dans ce pays.
28 And it was that it became strong Israel and it made the Canaanite[s] into forced labor and certainly not it dispossessed him.
Lorsqu'Israël fut devenu assez fort, il assujettit les Chananéens à un tribut, et ne les chassa point.
29 And Ephraim not it dispossessed the Canaanite[s] who dwelt in Gezer and it dwelt the Canaanite[s] in midst its in Gezer.
Ephraïm ne chassa point les Chananéens qui habitaient à Gaser, et les Chananéens habitèrent au milieu d'Ephraïm, à Gaser.
30 Zebulun not it dispossessed [the] inhabitants of Kitron and [the] inhabitants of Nahalol and it dwelt the Canaanite[s] in midst its and they became forced labor.
Zabulon ne chassa point les habitants de Cétron, ni les habitants de Naalol; et les Chananéens habitèrent au milieu de Zabulon, mais ils furent soumis à un tribut.
31 Asher not it dispossessed [the] inhabitants of Acco and [the] inhabitants of Sidon and Ahlab and Aczib and Helbah and Aphek and Rehob.
Aser ne chassa point les habitants d'Accho, ni les habitants de Sidon, ni ceux d'Ahalab, d'Achazib, d'Helba, d'Aphec et de Rohob;
32 And it dwelt the Asherite[s] in [the] midst of the Canaanite[s] [the] inhabitants of the land for not it dispossessed it.
et les fils d'Aser demeurèrent au milieu des Chananéens, habitants du pays, car ils ne les chassèrent point.
33 Naphtali not it dispossessed [the] inhabitants of Beth Shemesh and [the] inhabitants of Beth Anath and it dwelt in [the] midst of the Canaanite[s] [the] inhabitants of the land and [the] inhabitants of Beth Shemesh and Beth Anath they became for them forced labor.
Nephthali ne chassa point les habitants de Beth-Samès, ni les habitants de Beth-Anath, et il demeura au milieu des Chananéens, habitants du pays; mais les habitants de Beth-Samès et de Beth-Anath furent soumis à un tribut en sa faveur.
34 And they pressed the Amorite[s] [the] descendants of Dan the hill country towards for not it permitted it to go down to the valley.
Les Amorrhéens refoulèrent dans la montagne les fils de Dan, et ne les laissèrent pas descendre dans la plaine.
35 And it was determined the Amorite[s] to dwell in [the] mountain of Heres in Aijalon and in Shaalbim and it was heavy [the] hand of [the] house of Joseph and they became forced labor.
Les Amorrhéens s'enhardirent à rester à Har-Harés, à Ajalon et à Salebim; mais la main de la maison de Joseph s'appesantit sur eux, et ils furent soumis à un tribut.
36 And [the] border of the Amorite[s] [was] from [the] ascent of scorpions from Sela and up-wards.
Le territoire des Amorrhéens s'étendait de la montée d'Acrabbim, de Séla, et au-dessus.
