Judges 9
1 And he went Abimelech [the] son of Jerub-Baal Shechem towards to [the] brothers of mother his and he spoke to them and to all [the] clan of [the] house of [the] father of mother his saying.
A-bi-mê-léc, con Giê-ru Ba-anh, về quê mẹ ở Si-chem. Ông bàn với các cậu và gia đình bên ngoại mình:
2 Speak please in [the] ears of all [the] citizens of Shechem what? [is] good for you ¿ to rule over you seventy man all [the] sons of Jerub-Baal or? to rule over you a man one and you will remember that [am] bone your and flesh your I.
“Hãy đi hỏi người Si-chem, xem họ muốn cả bảy mươi con trai Giê-ru Ba-anh lãnh đạo, hay chỉ một người làm vua là hơn. Cũng xin nhắc họ rằng tôi cũng là người đồng cốt nhục!”
3 And they spoke [the] brothers of mother his on him in [the] ears of all [the] citizens of Shechem all the words these and it turned aside heart their after Abimelech for they said [is] brother our he.
Vậy, các cậu của A-bi-mê-léc đi nói với tất cả người dân ở Si-chem, và dĩ nhiên người Si-chem sẵn lòng ủng hộ A-bi-mê-léc, vì coi ông như anh em.
4 And they gave to him seventy silver (from [the] house of Baal-*L(abh)*) Berith and he hired for them Abimelech men unprincipled and undisciplined and they went after him.
Họ lấy bảy mươi miếng bạc trong miếu Ba-anh Bê-rít cho A-bi-mê-léc. Ông dùng tiền đó mướn bọn vô loại, du đãng theo mình.
5 And he went [the] house of father his Ophrah towards and he killed brothers his [the] sons of Jerub-Baal (seventy *L(abh)*) man on stone one and he was left Jotham [the] son of Jerub-Baal young for he hid himself.
Ông quay lại Óp-ra, về nhà cha mình, giết bảy mươi con trai của Giê-ru Ba-anh trên một tảng đá. Nhưng người con út là Giô-tham đi trốn, nên thoát chết.
6 And they gathered all [the] citizens of Shechem and all Beth Millo and they went and they made king Abimelech to king near [the] great tree set up which [was] in Shechem.
Người Si-chem và Bết-mi-lô họp tại bia đá bên gốc cây sồi ở Si-chem, tôn A-bi-mê-léc làm vua.
7 And people told to Jotham and he went and he stood on [the] top of [the] mountain of Gerizim and he lifted up voice his and he called out and he said to them listen to me O citizens of Shechem so he may listen to you God.
Khi Giô-tham nghe tin này, ông lên đỉnh Núi Ga-ri-xim và la to: “Hãy lắng nghe tôi, hỡi người Si-chem! Hãy nghe lời tôi nếu các người muốn Đức Chúa Trời nghe các người!
8 Certainly they went the trees to anoint over them a king and they said to the olive tree (reign! *Q(k)*) over us.
Xưa kia, cây cối muốn có vua. Chúng nói với cây ô-liu: ‘Xin làm vua chúng tôi.’
9 And it said to them the olive tree ¿ will I cease fatness my which by me people honor gods and men and will I go to sway over the trees.
Nhưng cây ô-liu đáp: ‘Không lẽ ta bỏ việc cung cấp dầu, một thứ dầu được cả Đức Chúa Trời lẫn loài người quý chuộng, để đi dao động cành lá mình trên các cây khác sao?’
10 And they said the trees to the fig tree come you reign over us.
Cây cối nói với các cây vả: ‘Xin làm vua chúng tôi!’
11 And it said to them the fig tree ¿ will I cease sweetness my and fruit my good and will I go to sway over the trees.
Nhưng cây vả đáp: ‘Không lẽ ta bỏ việc cung cấp trái ngọt, để đi dao động cành lá mình trên các cây khác?’
12 And they said the trees to the vine come you (reign *Q(k)*) over us.
Cây cối quay sang cây nho: ‘Xin làm vua chúng tôi!’
13 And it said to them the vine ¿ will I cease new wine my which makes glad gods and men and will I go to sway over the trees.
Nhưng cây nho cũng từ chối: ‘Lẽ nào ta bỏ việc cung cấp rượu nho, làm cho cả Đức Chúa Trời và loài người phấn khởi, để đi dao động cành lá mình trên các cây khác?’
14 And they said all the trees to the thorn bush come you reign over us.
Cuối cùng, cây cối phải nói với bụi gai: ‘Xin hãy cai trị chúng tôi!’
15 And it said the thorn bush to the trees if in truth you [are] anointing me to king over you come take refuge in shade my and if not let it go out a fire from the thorn bush and let it consume [the] cedars of Lebanon.
Bụi gai đáp lời cây cối: ‘Nếu anh em thật lòng muốn tôn ta làm vua, tất cả phải đến nấp dưới bóng ta. Nếu không, nguyện lửa từ bụi gai đốt cháy cả các cây bá hương ở Li-ban.’”
16 And now if in faithfulness and in integrity you have acted and you have made king Abimelech and if good you have done with Jerub-Baal and with house his and if according to [the] dealing of hands his you have done to him.
Giô-tham tiếp: “Bây giờ các người có thật lòng muốn tôn A-bi-mê-léc làm vua không? Thử hỏi các người có hậu đãi Giê-ru Ba-anh và gia đình ông ấy không? Các người có báo đáp công ơn của ông ấy không?
17 That he fought father my on you and he threw life his from in front and he delivered you from [the] hand of Midian.
Vì cha tôi đã hy sinh tính mạng chiến đấu cho các người, cứu các người khỏi tay Ma-đi-an.
18 And you you have risen up on [the] house of father my this day and you have killed sons his seventy man on stone one and you have made king Abimelech [the] son of female slave his over [the] citizens of Shechem for [is] brother your he.
Nhưng bây giờ, các người lại phản cha tôi, giết bảy mươi con trai của ông trên tảng đá, để tôn con của người nữ tì của cha tôi là A-bi-mê-léc lên làm vua Si-chem, chỉ vì A-bi-mê-léc là bà con.
19 And if in faithfulness and in integrity you have acted with Jerub-Baal and with house his the day this rejoice in Abimelech so he may rejoice also he in you.
Nếu các người đã cư xử trung hậu với Giê-ru Ba-anh và nhà ông, thì các người cứ vui vẻ với A-bi-mê-léc, và hãy để ông ấy vui vẻ với các người.
20 And if not let it go out a fire from Abimelech and let it consume [the] citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo and let it go out a fire from [the] citizens of Shechem and from Beth Millo and let it consume Abimelech.
Nếu không, lửa của A-bi-mê-léc sẽ thiêu đốt người Si-chem và Bết-mi-lô, và ngược lại lửa của Si-chem và Bết-mi-lô thiêu cháy A-bi-mê-léc!”
21 And he fled Jotham and he ran away and he went Beer towards and he dwelt there [away] from before Abimelech brother his.
Nói xong, Giô-tham trốn chạy và đến ẩn thân ở Bê-a, vì sợ A-bi-mê-léc, anh mình.
22 And he ruled Abimelech over Israel three years.
Sau khi A-bi-mê-léc cai trị Ít-ra-ên được ba năm.
23 And he sent God a spirit evil between Abimelech and between [the] citizens of Shechem and they dealt treacherously [the] citizens of Shechem with Abimelech.
Đức Chúa Trời sai một ác thần chia rẽ A-bi-mê-léc với người Si-chem, khiến họ phản A-bi-mê-léc.
24 To come [the] violence of seventy [the] sons of Jerub-Baal and blood their to put on Abimelech brother their who he killed them and on [the] citizens of Shechem who they strengthened hands his to kill brothers his.
Và như vậy, Đức Chúa Trời trừng phạt A-bi-mê-léc và các thủ lãnh của Si-chem về tội giết bảy mươi con trai của Giê-ru-ba-anh.
25 And they set to him [the] citizens of Shechem ambushers on [the] tops of the mountains and they robbed every [one] who he passed by on them on the road and it was told to Abimelech.
Người Si-chem mai phục trên đỉnh núi, chờ đợi A-bi-mê-léc. Nhưng vì họ cướp bóc những người đi ngang qua vùng ấy, nên tin này đến tai A-bi-mê-léc.
26 And he came Gaal [the] son of Ebed and brothers his and they passed on in Shechem and they trusted in him [the] citizens of Shechem.
Trong khi ấy, Ga-anh, con Ê-bết, cùng với anh em mình đến sinh sống ở Si-chem. Người địa phương tín nhiệm Ga-anh lắm.
27 And they went out the field and they gathered grapes vineyards their and they trod [them] and they made rejoicings and they went [the] house of god their and they ate and they drank and they cursed Abimelech.
Đến mùa nho, họ cùng nhau vào vườn hái trái, ép rượu. Họ tổ chức hội hè trong miếu thần, ăn uống no say, rồi bắt đầu chửi rủa A-bi-mê-léc.
28 And he said - Gaal [the] son of Ebed who? [is] Abimelech and who? [is] Shechem that we will serve him ¿ not [is he] [the] son of Jerub-Baal and [is] Zebul? deputy his serve [the] men of Hamor [the] father of Shechem and why? will we serve him we.
Ga-anh lên tiếng: “A-bi-mê-léc là ai mà người Si-chem chúng ta phải thần phục? Hắn là con của Giê-ru Ba-anh, và quan viên của hắn là Xê-bun. Hãy phụng thờ người Hê-mô, tổ tiên của người Si-chem. Thế thì tại sao chúng ta là người phải phục vụ hắn?
29 And who? will he give the people this in hand my and I will remove Abimelech and he said of Abimelech make numerous army your and come out!
Nếu được dân ủng hộ, tôi sẽ đuổi A-bi-mê-léc đi. Tôi sẽ thách hắn: ‘Hãy tăng cường quân lính mà ra trận!’”
30 And he heard Zebul [the] official of the city [the] words of Gaal [the] son of Ebed and it burned anger his.
Khi Xê-bun, quan đầu thành Si-chem, nghe những lời Ga-anh nói, rất nổi giận.
31 And he sent messengers to Abimelech in treachery saying here! Gaal [the] son of Ebed and brothers his [are] coming Shechem towards and here they [are] shutting up the city on you.
Ông sai người đến A-ru-ma, báo với A-bi-mê-léc: “Ga-anh, con Ê-bết, và anh em hắn đến Si-chem xúi dân chúng phản vua.
32 And therefore arise night you and the people which [is] with you and lie in wait in the field.
Bây giờ, xin vua xuất quân vào lúc đêm tối, phục sẵn ngoài đồng.
33 And it will be in the morning when rises the sun you will rise early and you will make a raid on the city and there! he and the people which [is] with him [are] going out against you and you will do to him just as it will find hand your.
Chờ lúc mặt trời mọc, xin vua kéo vào đánh thành. Khi Ga-anh và những người theo hắn kéo ra, thì vua tùy nghi đối phó.”
34 And he arose Abimelech and all the people which [was] with him night and they lay in wait on Shechem four companies.
A-bi-mê-léc đốc thúc quân sĩ theo mình ra đi đêm ấy, rồi chia làm bốn đội mai phục bên ngoài thành Si-chem.
35 And he went out Gaal [the] son of Ebed and he stood [the] entrance of [the] gate of the city and he arose Abimelech and the people which [was] with him from the ambush.
Khi Ga-anh ra đứng ở cổng thành, A-bi-mê-léc dẫn quân từ chỗ mai phục xông ra.
36 And he saw Gaal the people and he said to Zebul there! a people [is] coming down from [the] tops of the mountains and he said to him Zebul [the] shadow of the mountains you [are] seeing like men.
Thấy họ, Ga-anh nói với Xê-bun: “Xem kìa! Có đoàn người từ trên núi xuống.” Xê-bun: “Đó là bóng núi, không phải người đâu.”
37 And he repeated again Gaal to speak and he said there! a people [are] coming down from with [the] center of the land and a company one [is] coming from [the] direction of [the] great tree of [the] soothsayer.
Nhưng Ga-anh lại nói: “Không, trông kìa! Có một toán từ trên núi đi xuống. Và một toán khác theo lối Cây Sồi Thầy Bói tiến đến.”
38 And he said to him Zebul where? then [is] mouth your O [you] who you said who? [is] Abimelech that we will serve him ¿ not [is] this the people which you rejected it go out please now and fight against him.
Đến lúc ấy, Xê-bun la lên: “Không phải ông đã khoác lác nói rằng: A-bi-mê-léc là ai mà ta phải phục vụ, hay sao? Những người ông thấy đó là những người ông đã sỉ nhục! Bây giờ ông ra đánh với họ đi!”
39 And he went out Gaal before [the] citizens of Shechem and he fought against Abimelech.
Ga-anh dẫn người Si-chem ra nghênh chiến với A-bi-mê-léc.
40 And he pursued him Abimelech and he fled from before him and they fell [those] fatally wounded many to [the] entrance of the gate.
Nhưng A-bi-mê-léc đuổi Ga-anh chạy, đánh nhiều người Si-chem bị thương, nằm dài đến tận cổng thành.
41 And he dwelt Abimelech at Arumah and he drove out Zebul Gaal and brothers his from dwelling at Shechem.
Rồi, A-bi-mê-léc về A-ru-ma. Tại Si-chem, Xê-bun đuổi Ga-anh và anh em người ra khỏi thành.
42 And it was from [the] next day and it went out the people the field and people told to Abimelech.
Qua ngày hôm sau, người Si-chem lại kéo ra ngoài thành. Khi A-bi-mê-léc được tin,
43 And he took the people and he divided them into three companies and he lay in wait in the field and he saw and there! the people [was] going out from the city and he rose up on them and he struck down them.
ông liền chia quân làm ba đội, kéo đến phục ngoài đồng. Khi thấy người trong thành ra, phục binh liền ra chém giết.
44 And Abimelech and the companies which [were] with him they made a raid and they stood [the] entrance of [the] gate of the city and [the] two the companies they made a raid on all [those] who [were] in the field and they struck down them.
A-bi-mê-léc dẫn một đội tiến lên chặn cổng thành, trong khi hai đội kia ở lại tiếp tục càn quét.
45 And Abimelech [was] fighting against the city all the day that and he captured the city and the people which [was] in it he killed and he pulled down the city and he sowed it salt.
A-bi-mê-léc tấn công suốt ngày mới chiếm được thành. Mọi người trong thành đều bị giết, thành bị san bằng. A-bi-mê-léc còn sai rải muối lên thành đã sụp đổ.
46 And they heard all [the] citizens of [the] tower of Shechem and they went into [the] underground chamber of [the] house of El-Berith.
Nghe tin này, các cấp lãnh đạo tháp Si-chem kéo nhau lên trốn trên đồn của đền thần Bê-rít, vì đồn này kiên cố.
47 And it was told to Abimelech that they had gathered together all [the] citizens of [the] tower of Shechem.
Khi A-bi-mê-léc nghe rằng người Si-chem tụ lại trong đền,
48 And he went up Abimelech [the] mountain of Zalmon he and all the people which [was] with him and he took Abimelech the axes in hand his and he cut off a branch of wood and he lifted up it and he put [it] on shoulder his and he said to the people which [was] with him whatever you have seen I have done hurry do like me.
liền kéo toàn quân lên Núi Sanh-môn. Tại đó, A-bi-mê-léc lấy rìu đốn một nhánh cây vác lên vai, rồi ra lệnh cho mọi người theo mình: “Hãy làm đúng như ta làm. Nhanh lên!”
49 And they cut off also all the people everyone own branch his and they went after Abimelech and they put [them] over the underground chamber and they set on fire over them the underground chamber with fire and they died also all [the] men of [the] tower of Shechem about a thousand man and woman.
Mọi người chặt cây, vác đi theo A-bi-mê-léc. Họ chất cây quanh đồn rồi châm lửa đốt. Như thế, tất cả những người ở tháp Si-chem chết hết, tổng số đến chừng 1.000 người, cả nam lẫn nữ.
50 And he went Abimelech to Thebez and he encamped at Thebez and he captured it.
Sau đó, A-bi-mê-léc tấn công Thê-bết và chiếm thành.
51 And a tower of strength it was in [the] middle of the city and they fled there towards all the men and the women and all [the] citizens of the city and they shut [the] door behind them and they went up on [the] roof of the tower.
Nhưng, trong thành ấy có một cái tháp kiên cố, và mọi người chạy vào trốn trong đó. Họ đóng chặt cửa lại rồi leo lên nóc tháp.
52 And he came Abimelech to the tower and he fought against it and he drew near to [the] entrance of the tower to burn it with fire.
A-bi-mê-léc đuổi và tấn công tháp. Nhưng khi hắn đến tận bên cửa để đốt tháp
53 And she threw a woman one a mill-stone of an upper mill-stone on [the] head of Abimelech and it crushed skull his.
thì có một phụ nữ ném xuống một thớt cối đá, trúng đầu A-bi-mê-léc, làm vỡ sọ.
54 And he called quickly to the young man - [who] carried armor his and he said to him draw sword your and kill me lest people should say of me a woman she killed him and he pierced through him young man his and he died.
Hắn vội vàng gọi thanh niên mang khí giới cho mình và bảo: “Lấy gươm giết ta đi! Đừng để họ nói rằng một người phụ nữ đã giết A-bi-mê-léc.” Thanh niên này liền đâm hắn chết.
55 And they saw [the] man of Israel that he was dead Abimelech and they went everyone to own place his.
Những người theo A-bi-mê-léc thấy hắn chết rồi, họ liền giải tán, ai về nhà nấy.
56 And he repaid God [the] evil of Abimelech which he had done to father his by killing seventy brothers his.
Như vậy, Đức Chúa Trời trừng phạt A-bi-mê-léc vì tội ông đã phạm với cha mình khi giết bảy mươi anh em mình.
57 And all [the] evil of [the] men of Shechem he repaid God on head their and it came to them [the] curse of Jotham [the] son of Jerub-Baal.
Đức Chúa Trời cũng báo trả người Si-chem về tội ác của họ. Như thế lời nguyền rủa của Giô-tham đã thành sự thật.
