Judges 6
1 And they did [the] people of Israel the evil in [the] eyes of Yahweh and he gave them Yahweh in [the] hand of Midian seven years.
Les enfants d’Israël ayant de nouveau mécontenté l’Eternel, il les abandonna pendant sept ans au pouvoir des Madianites.
2 And it prevailed [the] hand of Midian over Israel because of Midian they made for themselves - [the] people of Israel the dens which [are] in the mountains and the caves and the strongholds.
Accablés par la supériorité de Madian, les Israélites, pour y échapper, utilisèrent les creux des montagnes, les souterrains et les châteaux forts.
3 And it was if it sowed Israel and it went up Midian and Amalek and [the] people of [the] east and they went up on him.
Or, quand Israël avait fait les semailles, Madian accourait avec Amalec et les peuplades orientales, et venait l’attaquer.
4 And they encamped on them and they destroyed [the] produce of the land until coming you Gaza and not they left sustenance in Israel and a sheep and an ox and a donkey.
Ils occupaient son pays, détruisaient les produits de la terre jusque vers Gaza, et ne laissaient en Israël aucune subsistance, non plus que brebis, bœufs ni ânes.
5 For they and livestock their they came up and tents their (and they came *Q(K)*) according to [the] abundance of locust[s] for multitude and [belonged] to them and to camels their not number and they came in the land to destroy it.
Car eux-mêmes venaient avec leurs troupeaux et leurs tentes, ils arrivaient en masse comme les sauterelles, eux et leurs chameaux étaient innombrables; et ils envahissaient le pays pour le ravager.
6 And it became low Israel very because of Midian and they cried out [the] people of Israel to Yahweh.
lsraël tomba ainsi dans une misère extrême par le fait de Madian, et il se plaignit à l’Eternel.
7 And it was that they cried out [the] people of Israel to Yahweh on [the] causes of Midian.
Comme les enfants d’Israël se plaignaient à l’Eternel au sujet de Madian,
8 And he sent Yahweh a man a prophet to [the] people of Israel and he said to them thus he says Yahweh - [the] God of Israel I I brought up you from Egypt and I brought out you from a house of slaves.
l’Eternel leur envoya un personnage inspiré, qui leur dit: "Ainsi a parlé l’Eternel, Dieu d’Israël: C’Est moi qui vous ai fait monter de l’Egypte, qui vous ai tirés de la maison de servitude;
9 And I delivered you from [the] hand of Egypt and from [the] hand of all [those who] oppressed you and I drove out them from before you and I gave! to you land their.
je vous ai sauvés de la main des Egyptiens et de la main de vos autres oppresseurs; j’ai chassé ces derniers devant vous et vous ai donné leur pays.
10 And I said! to you I [am] Yahweh God your not you must fear [the] gods of the Amorite[s] whom you [are] dwelling in land their and not you have listened to voice my.
Et je vous ai dit: "C’Est moi, I’Eternel, qui suis votre Dieu! ne révérez point les dieux des Amorréens dont vous habitez le pays!" Mais vous n’avez pas écouté ma voix…"
11 And he came [the] angel of Yahweh and he sat under the oak which [was] in Ophrah which [belonged] to Joash [the] Abi-ezrite and Gideon son his [was] beating out wheat in the winepress to hide [it] from Midian.
Or, un ange du Seigneur vint se placer sous un térébinthe près d’Ofra, appartenant à Joas l’Abiézrite, au moment où Gédéon, son fils, battait du froment dans le pressoir pour le mettre à l’abri des Madianites.
12 And he appeared to him [the] angel of Yahweh and he said to him Yahweh [is] with you O mighty [man] of strength.
L’Ange du Seigneur lui apparut et lui dit: "L’Eternel est avec toi, vaillant homme!"
13 And he said to him Gideon pardon me O lord my and there Yahweh [is] with us and why? has it found us all this and where? [are] all wonders his which they recounted to us fathers our saying ¿ not from Egypt did he bring up us Yahweh and now he has abandoned us Yahweh and he has given us in [the] hand of Midian.
Et Gédéon lui répondit: "Hélas! Seigneur, si l’Eternel est avec nous, d’où vient tout ce qui nous arrive? Que sont devenus tous ses prodiges que nous ont contés nos pères, disant: N’Est-ce pas l’Eternel qui nous a fait sortir de l’Egypte? Maintenant l’Eternel nous délaisse et nous livre aux mains de Madian!"
14 And he turned to him Yahweh and he said go in strength your this and you will deliver Israel from [the] hand of Midian ¿ not have I sent you.
Alors l’Eternel s’adressa à lui, disant: "Va avec ce courage qui t’anime, et tu sauveras Israël de la main de Madian: c’est moi qui t’envoie."
15 And he said to him pardon me O Lord how? will I deliver Israel here! family my [is] the weak in Manasseh and I [am] the insignificant in [the] house of father my.
Gédéon répliqua: "De grâce, mon Dieu, par quel moyen sauverais-je Israël? Ma famille est la moindre en Manassé, et moi je suis le plus jeune dans la maison de mon père!"
16 And he said to him Yahweh that I will be with you and you will strike down Midian like a man one.
"C’Est que je serai avec toi, répondit l’Eternel, et tu battras les Madianites comme un seul homme."
17 And he said to him if please I have found favor in view your and you will do for me a sign that you [are] speaking with me.
"Eh bien! dit-il, si j’ai trouvé faveur à tes yeux, tu me prouveras par un signe que c’est toi-même qui me parles.
18 May not please you depart from here until come I to you and I will bring out gift my and I will set [it] before you and he said I I will remain until returning you.
Ne t’éloigne pas d’ici, je te prie, que je ne sois revenu près de toi: je vais quérir mon offrande et la déposer devant toi." Il répondit: "J’Attendrai ton retour."
19 And Gideon he went and he prepared a kid of goats and an ephah of flour of unleavened bread the meat he put in the basket and the broth he put in the pot and he brought [them] out to him to under the oak and he brought [them] near.
Et Gédéon rentra, apprêta un jeune chevreau et des pains azymes d’un êpha de farine, mit la viande dans une corbeille et le bouillon dans un pot, porta le tout sous le térébinthe et le lui offrit.
20 And he said to him [the] angel of God take the meat and the unleavened bread and set [them] to the rock this and the broth pour out and he did so.
L’Ange de Dieu lui dit: "Prends la viande avec les azymes, pose-les sur ce rocher, et répands le bouillon"; ce qu’il fit.
21 And he stretched out [the] angel of Yahweh [the] end of the staff which [was] in hand his and he touched the meat and the unleavened bread and it went up the fire from the rock and it consumed the meat and the unleavened bread and [the] angel of Yahweh he went from eyes his.
Et l’ange de l’Eternel, de l’extrémité du bâton qu’il tenait à la main, toucha la viande et les azymes: soudain un feu sortit du rocher, consuma viande et azymes, et l’ange de l’Eternel disparut à ses yeux.
22 And he saw Gideon that [was] [the] angel of Yahweh it. And he said Gideon alas! O Lord Yahweh for since I have seen [the] angel of Yahweh face to face.
Gédéon vit alors que c’était un ange, et il s’écria: "Malheur à moi, Seigneur Dieu! car c’est un ange de l’Eternel que j’ai vu face à face."
23 And he said to him Yahweh peace [be] to you may not you be afraid not you will die.
"Rassure-toi, lui dit le Seigneur, ne crains rien: tu ne mourras pas."
24 And he built there Gideon an altar to Yahweh and he called it Yahweh [is] peace until the day this still it [is] in Ophrah of [the] Abi-ezrite[s].
Gédéon bâtit là au Seigneur un autel, qu’il appela Adonaï Chalôm; aujourd’hui encore il subsiste dans Ofra, qui est aux Abiézrites.
25 And it was in the night that and he said to him Yahweh take [the] young bull of the ox which [belongs] to father your and [the] young bull the second seven years and you will tear down [the] altar of Baal which [belongs] to father your and the Asherah pole which [is] at it you will cut down.
Cette même nuit, l’Eternel lui dit: "Prends l’un des taureaux qui sont à ton père, le deuxième taureau, âgé de sept ans. Tu démoliras l’autel consacré à Baal par ton père, et tu abattras le bocage qui est auprès.
26 And you will build an altar to Yahweh God your on [the] top of the place of refuge this in the row and you will take the young bull second and you will offer up a burnt offering with [the] wood of the Asherah pole which you will cut down.
Puis tu bâtiras un autel à l’Eternel, ton Dieu, au sommet de ce rocher, sur le plateau; tu prendras le deuxième taureau, et le brûleras en holocauste, sur le bois du bocage que tu auras abattu."
27 And he took Gideon ten men from servants his and he did just as he had spoken to him Yahweh and it was since he feared [the] household of father his and [the] men of the city from acting by day and he acted night.
Gédéon, aidé de dix de ses serviteurs, fit ce que l’Eternel lui avait ordonné; mais comme il n’osait, à cause de sa famille et des gens de la ville, agir en plein jour, il le fit nuitamment.
28 And they rose early [the] men of the city in the morning and there! it was torn down [the] altar of Baal and the Asherah pole which [was] at it it was cut down and the young bull second it had been offered up on the altar which had been built.
Au matin, quand les gens de la ville se levèrent, ils virent l’autel de Baal renversé, son bocage abattu, le deuxième taureau offert en holocauste sur l’autel nouveau,
29 And they said each to neighbor his who? has he done the thing this and they investigated and they searched and they said Gideon [the] son of Joash he has done the thing this.
et ils se dirent l’un à l’autre: "Qui a fait cela?…" Ils s’informèrent, firent des recherches et on leur dit: "C’Est Gédéon, fils de Joas, qui en est l’auteur."
30 And they said [the] men of the city to Joash bring out son your so may he die for he has torn down [the] altar of Baal and for he has cut down the Asherah pole which [was] at it.
Alors les gens de la ville dirent à Joas: "Livre ton fils pour qu’il meure, parce qu’il a démoli l’autel de Baal et abattu le bocage attenant."
31 And he said Joash to all [those] who they stood on him ¿ you - will you conduct a case! for Baal or? you will you deliver! him [the one] who he will conduct a case for him he will be put to death until the morning if [is] a god he let him conduct a case for himself if someone has torn down altar his.
Mais Joas dit à la foule qui l’assaillait: "Est-ce à vous de venger Baal, à vous de lui venir en aide? Qui prétend le faire mérite la mort, avant même qu’il soit jour! Si Baal est Dieu, qu’il venge lui-même son injure, son autel renversé!"
32 And someone called him on the day that Jerub-Baal saying let him conduct a case against him Baal for he has torn down altar his.
Gédéon fut à cette occasion, surnommé Jérubbaal, c’est-à-dire que Baal s’en prenne à lui, pour avoir démoli son autel.
33 And all Midian and Amalek and [the] people of [the] east they gathered together and they passed over and they encamped in [the] valley of Jezreel.
Or, tout Madian s’était réuni avec Amalec et les peuplades orientales; ils avaient pénétré à l’intérieur et campaient dans la vallée de Jezreêl.
34 And [the] spirit of Yahweh it clothed Gideon and he gave a blast on the ram's horn (and it was called together *L(abh)*) Abiezer after him.
Soudain une inspiration divine enveloppa Gédéon; il fit sonner du cor, et les Abiézrites se groupèrent derrière lui.
35 And messengers he sent in all Manasseh (and it was called together *L(abh)*) also it after him and messengers he sent in Asher and in Zebulun and in Naphtali and they went up to meet them.
Il envoya aussi des messagers dans tout Manassé, qui se joignit également à lui; pareillement en Aser, Zabulon, Nephtali, qui montèrent au-devant d’eux.
36 And he said Gideon to God if there you [are] about to deliver by hand my Israel just as you have spoken.
Et Gédéon dit au Seigneur: "Si tu veux, par ma main, secourir Israël comme tu l’as dit,
37 Here! I [am] placing [the] fleece of wool on the threshing floor if dew it will be on the fleece to alone it and [will be] on all the ground dryness and I will know that you will deliver by hand my Israel just as you have spoken.
eh bien! je mets cette toison sur le sol de l’aire: s’il vient de la rosée sur la toison seule et que tout le sol reste sec, je saurai que tu veux secourir par ma main Israël, comme tu l’as promis."
38 And it was so and he rose early from [the] next day and he squeezed out the fleece and he drained dew from the fleece [the] fullness of the bowl water.
Et il en fut ainsi. En se levant le lendemain, Gédéon pressa la toison et, de la rosée qu’il en exprima, il eut une pleine écuelle d’eau.
39 And he said Gideon to God may not it burn anger your on me and let me speak only this time let me put to [the] test please only this time by the fleece let it be please dryness to the fleece to alone it and on all the ground let it be dew.
Gédéon dit au Seigneur: "Ne te mets pas en colère contre moi si je t’adresse encore une prière. Permets-moi seulement une nouvelle épreuve par cette toison: que la toison seule reste sèche, tandis que tout le sol sera couvert de rosée!"
40 And he did God so in the night that and it was dryness to the fleece to alone it and on all the ground it was dew.
Dieu déféra à sa demande cette nuit même: la toison seule resta sèche, le sol d’alentour fut couvert de rosée.
