Judges 3
1 And these [are] the nations which he left Yahweh to put to [the] test by them Israel all [those] who not they had known all [the] wars of Canaan.
Nämä ovat ne kansat, jotka Herra jätti paikoilleen koetellakseen niiden kautta Israelia, kaikkia niitä, jotka eivät olleet kokeneet mitään kaikista Kanaanin sodista-
2 Only so as to know [the] generations of [the] people of Israel to teach them war only which before not they had known them.
hän jätti ne ainoastaan sitä varten, että israelilaisten sukupolvet saisivat kokea sotaa, hänen opettaessaan heitä sotimaan, kuitenkin ainoastaan niitä, jotka eivät ennen olleet sotaa kokeneet-:
3 [the] five - [the] rulers of [the] Philistines And all the Canaanite[s] and the Sidonian[s] and the Hivite[s] [who] dwelt of [the] mount of Lebanon from [the] mountain of Baal Hermon to Lebo Hamath.
filistealaisten viisi ruhtinasta ja kaikki kanaanilaiset ja siidonilaiset ja hivviläiset, jotka asuivat Libanonin vuoristossa, Baal-Hermonin vuoresta siihen saakka, mistä mennään Hamatiin.
4 And they were to put to [the] test by them Israel to know ¿ will they obey [the] commandments of Yahweh which he had commanded ancestors their by [the] hand of Moses.
Nämä jäivät, että hän niiden kautta koettelisi Israelia saadakseen tietää, tottelisivatko he Herran käskyjä, jotka hän Mooseksen kautta oli antanut heidän isillensä.
5 And [the] people of Israel they dwelt in [the] midst of the Canaanite[s] the Hittite[s] and the Amorite[s] and the Perizzite[s] and the Hivite[s] and the Jebusite[s].
Israelilaiset asuivat siis kanaanilaisten, heettiläisten, amorilaisten, perissiläisten, hivviläisten ja jebusilaisten keskellä,
6 And they took daughters their for themselves to wives and daughters their they gave to sons their and they served gods their.
ja he ottivat heidän tyttäriänsä vaimoikseen ja antoivat omia tyttäriänsä heidän pojillensa ja palvelivat heidän jumaliansa.
7 And they did [the] people of Israel the evil in [the] eyes of Yahweh and they forgot Yahweh God their and they served the Baals and the Asherah poles.
Näin israelilaiset tekivät sitä, mikä oli pahaa Herran silmissä, ja unhottivat Herran, Jumalansa, ja palvelivat baaleja ja aseroita.
8 And it burned [the] anger of Yahweh on Israel and he sold them in [the] hand of Cushan-Rishathaim [the] king of Aram Naharaim and they served [the] people of Israel Cushan-Rishathaim eight years.
Silloin Herran viha syttyi Israelia kohtaan, ja hän myi heidät Kuusan-Risataimin, Mesopotamian kuninkaan, käsiin; ja israelilaiset palvelivat Kuusan-Risataimia kahdeksan vuotta.
9 And they cried out [the] people of Israel to Yahweh and he raised up Yahweh a deliverer for [the] people of Israel and he delivered them Othniel [the] son of Kenaz [the] brother of Caleb young more than him.
Mutta israelilaiset huusivat Herraa, ja Herra herätti israelilaisille vapauttajan, joka heidät vapautti, Otnielin, Kenaan, Kaalebin nuoremman veljen, pojan.
10 And it was on him [the] spirit of Yahweh and he judged Israel and he went out to war and he gave Yahweh in hand his Cushan-Rishathaim [the] king of Aram and it prevailed hand his over Cushan-Rishathaim.
Ja Herran henki tuli häneen, ja hän oli tuomarina Israelissa; hän lähti sotaan, ja Herra antoi Kuusan-Risataimin, Aramin kuninkaan, hänen käsiinsä, ja Kuusan-Risataim sai tuntea hänen kätensä voimaa.
11 And it was at peace the land forty year[s] and he died Othniel [the] son of Kenaz.
Ja maassa oli rauha neljäkymmentä vuotta; sitten Otniel, Kenaan poika, kuoli.
12 And they repeated [the] people of Israel to do the evil in [the] eyes of Yahweh and he strengthened Yahweh Eglon [the] king of Moab over Israel on for they did the evil in [the] eyes of Yahweh.
Mutta israelilaiset tekivät jälleen sitä, mikä oli pahaa Herran silmissä. Silloin Herra vahvisti Eglonin, Mooabin kuninkaan, Israelia väkevämmäksi, koska he tekivät sitä, mikä oli pahaa Herran silmissä.
13 And he gathered to himself [the] people of Ammon and Amalek and he went and he attacked Israel and they took possession of [the] city of the palm trees.
Ja tämä kokosi luoksensa ammonilaiset ja amalekilaiset, lähti liikkeelle ja voitti Israelin, ja he valtasivat Palmukaupungin.
14 And they served [the] people of Israel Eglon [the] king of Moab eight-teen year[s].
Ja israelilaiset palvelivat Eglonia, mooabilaisten kuningasta, kahdeksantoista vuotta.
15 And they cried out [the] people of Israel to Yahweh and he raised up Yahweh for them a deliverer Ehud [the] son of Gera [the] Ben-jaminite a man impeded [the] hand of right his and they sent [the] people of Israel by hand his tribute to Eglon [the] king of Moab.
Ja israelilaiset huusivat Herraa, ja Herra herätti heille vapauttajan, benjaminilaisen Eehudin, Geeran pojan, vasenkätisen miehen. Kun israelilaiset lähettivät hänet viemään veroa Eglonille, Mooabin kuninkaalle,
16 And he made for himself Ehud a sword and [belonged] to it two lips [was] a cubit length its and he girded it from under to garments his on [the] thigh of right his.
niin Eehud teki itsellensä kaksiteräisen miekan, jalan pituisen, ja sitoi sen takkinsa alle oikealle kupeelleen.
17 And he brought near the tribute to Eglon [the] king of Moab and Eglon [was] a man fat very.
Ja hän toi veron Eglonille, Mooabin kuninkaalle. Mutta Eglon oli hyvin lihava mies.
18 And it was just when he had finished to bring near the tribute and he sent away the people [who] bore the tribute.
Kun hän oli saanut tuoduksi veron, saattoi hän väen, joka oli verolahjoja kantanut, matkalle.
19 And he he returned from the idols which [were] with Gilgal and he said a word of secrecy [belongs] to me to you O king and he said hush! and they went out from with him all those [who] stood with him.

20 And Ehud - he came to him and he [was] sitting in [the] roof chamber of the coolness which [belonged] to him to only him and he said Ehud a word of God [belongs] to me to you and he rose from on the throne.
Kun Eehud oli tullut hänen luoksensa, hänen istuessaan yksin viileässä yläsalissaan, sanoi Eehud: "Minulla on sinulle sana Jumalalta". Silloin hän nousi istuimeltaan,
21 And he stretched out Ehud [the] hand of left his and he took the sword from on [the] thigh of right his and he thrust it in belly his.
mutta Eehud ojensi vasemman kätensä ja tempasi miekan oikealta kupeeltaan ja pisti sen hänen vatsaansa,
22 And it went also the hilt after the blade and it closed up the fat behind the blade that not he drew out the sword from belly his and he went out the hole towards.
niin että kahvakin meni sisään terän mukana ja terä upposi kokonaan ihraan, sillä hän ei vetänyt ulos miekkaa hänen vatsastaan. Sitten hän meni ulos laakealle katolle.
23 And he went out Ehud the porch towards and he closed [the] doors of the roof chamber behind him and he locked [them].
Kun Eehud oli tullut pylväskäytävään, sulki hän yläsalin ovet jälkeensä ja lukitsi ne.
24 And he he went forth and servants his they came and they saw and there! [the] doors of the roof chamber [were] locked and they said surely [is] covering he feet his in [the] chamber of the coolness.
Hänen mentyään tulivat kuninkaan palvelijat, ja kun he näkivät, että yläsalin ovet olivat lukitut, niin he ajattelivat: "Varmaankin hän on tarpeellaan viileässä kammiossa".
25 And they writhed until were ashamed and there! not he [was] opening [the] doors of the roof chamber and they took the key and they opened [them] and there! master their [was] lying [the] ground towards dead.
Sitten he odottivat kyllästyksiin asti, mutta kun hän ei sittenkään avannut yläsalin ovia, ottivat he avaimen ja avasivat itse. Ja katso, heidän herransa makasi kuolleena lattialla.
26 And Ehud he escaped until delayed they and he he passed by the idols and he escaped Seirah towards.
Mutta Eehud oli paennut heidän vitkastellessaan; hän oli jo päässyt jumalankuvien ohi ja pakeni Seiraan.
27 And it was when came he and he gave a blast on the ram's horn in [the] hill country of Ephraim and they went down with him [the] people of Israel from the hill country and he [was] before them.
Ja sinne tultuaan hän puhalsi pasunaan Efraimin vuoristossa. Silloin israelilaiset laskeutuivat hänen kanssaan vuoristosta, ja hän heidän etunenässään.
28 And he said to them pursue after me for he has given Yahweh enemies your Moab in hand your and they went down after him and they captured [the] fords of the Jordan to Moab and not they permitted anyone to pass over.
Ja hän sanoi heille: "Seuratkaa minua, sillä Herra antaa teidän vihollisenne, mooabilaiset, teidän käsiinne". Silloin he laskeutuivat hänen jäljessään alas, valtasivat mooabilaisten tieltä Jordanin kahlauspaikat eivätkä päästäneet ketään yli.
29 And they struck down Moab at the time that about ten thousand man every stout [person] and every man of strength and not he escaped anyone.
Ja he voittivat silloin Mooabin, lähes kymmenen tuhatta miestä, kaikki voimakkaita ja sotakuntoisia miehiä; eikä ainoakaan päässyt pakoon.
30 And it was subdued Moab on the day that under [the] hand of Israel and it was at peace the land eighty year[s].
Niin täytyi Mooabin silloin nöyrtyä Israelin käden alle. Ja maassa oli rauha kahdeksankymmentä vuotta.
31 And after him he was Shamgar [the] son of Anath and he struck down [the] Philistines six hundred man with [the] goad of cattle and he delivered also he Israel.
Hänen jälkeensä tuli Samgar, Anatin poika. Hän surmasi filistealaisia kuusisataa miestä häränpistimellä; hänkin vapautti Israelin.
