Judges 21
1 And [the] man of Israel he had sworn at Mizpah saying anyone of us not he will give daughter his to Benjamin to a wife.
Les hommes d’Israël avaient juré à Mitspa, en disant: Aucun de nous ne donnera sa fille pour femme à un Benjamite.
2 And it came the people Beth-el and they sat there until the evening before God and they lifted up voice their and they wept weeping great.
Le peuple vint à Béthel, et il y resta devant Dieu jusqu’au soir. Ils élevèrent la voix, ils versèrent d’abondantes larmes,
3 And they said why? O Yahweh [the] God of Israel has it happened (this [thing] *LA(bh)*) in Israel to be missing this day from Israel a tribe one.
et ils dirent: O Éternel, Dieu d’Israël, pourquoi est-il arrivé en Israël qu’il manque aujourd’hui une tribu d’Israël?
4 And it was from [the] next day and they rose early the people and they built there an altar and they offered up burnt offerings and peace offerings.
Le lendemain, le peuple se leva de bon matin; ils bâtirent là un autel, et ils offrirent des holocaustes et des sacrifices d’actions de grâces.
5 And they said [the] people of Israel who? [is [the] one] who not he went up in the assembly from all [the] tribes of Israel to Yahweh for the oath great it was to [the one] who not he went up to Yahweh Mizpah saying certainly he will be put to death.
Les enfants d’Israël dirent: Quel est celui d’entre toutes les tribus d’Israël qui n’est pas monté à l’assemblée devant l’Éternel? Car on avait fait un serment solennel contre quiconque ne monterait pas vers l’Éternel à Mitspa, on avait dit: Il sera puni de mort.
6 And they had compassion [the] people of Israel to Benjamin brother its and they said it has been cut off this day a tribe one from Israel.
Les enfants d’Israël éprouvaient du repentir au sujet de Benjamin, leur frère, et ils disaient: Aujourd’hui une tribu a été retranchée d’Israël.
7 What? will we do for them for [those who] remain for wives and we we have sworn by Yahweh to not to give to them any of daughters our to wives.
Que ferons-nous pour procurer des femmes à ceux qui ont survécu, puisque nous avons juré par l’Éternel de ne pas leur donner de nos filles pour femmes?
8 And they said who? [is the] one from [the] tribes of Israel which not it went up to Yahweh Mizpah and there! not he had come anyone to the camp from Jabesh Gilead to the assembly.
Ils dirent donc: Y a-t-il quelqu’un d’entre les tribus d’Israël qui ne soit pas monté vers l’Éternel à Mitspa? Et voici, personne de Jabès en Galaad n’était venu au camp, à l’assemblée.
9 And it was mustered the people and there! there not there [was] anyone from [the] inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead.
On fit le dénombrement du peuple, et il n’y avait là aucun des habitants de Jabès en Galaad.
10 And they sent there the congregation two [plus] ten thousand man from [the] sons of strength and they commanded them saying go and you will strike [the] inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead to [the] mouth of [the] sword and the women and the little one[s].
Alors l’assemblée envoya contre eux douze mille soldats, en leur donnant cet ordre: Allez, et frappez du tranchant de l’épée les habitants de Jabès en Galaad, avec les femmes et les enfants.
11 And this [is] the thing which you will do every male and every woman [who] has known lying of a male you will totally destroy.
Voici ce que vous ferez: vous dévouerez par interdit tout mâle et toute femme qui a connu la couche d’un homme.
12 And they found of [the] inhabitants of - Jabesh Gilead four hundred young woman virgin[s] who not she had known a man to lying of a male and they brought them to the camp Shiloh which [is] in [the] land of Canaan.
Ils trouvèrent parmi les habitants de Jabès en Galaad quatre cents jeunes filles vierges qui n’avaient point connu d’homme en couchant avec lui, et ils les amenèrent dans le camp à Silo, qui est au pays de Canaan.
13 And they sent all the congregation and they spoke to [the] descendants of Benjamin who [were] at [the] rock of Rimmon and they proclaimed to them peace.
Toute l’assemblée envoya des messagers pour parler aux fils de Benjamin qui étaient au rocher de Rimmon, et pour leur annoncer la paix.
14 And it returned Benjamin at the time that and they gave to them the women whom they had preserved alive from [the] women of Jabesh Gilead and not they found for them so.
En ce temps-là, les Benjamites revinrent, et on leur donna les femmes à qui l’on avait laissé la vie parmi les femmes de Jabès en Galaad. Mais il n’y en avait pas assez pour eux.
15 And the people it had compassion to Benjamin for he had made Yahweh a breach in [the] tribes of Israel.
Le peuple éprouvait du repentir au sujet de Benjamin, car l’Éternel avait fait une brèche dans les tribus d’Israël.
16 And they said [the] elders of the congregation what? will we do for [those who] remain for wives for she is destroyed from Benjamin woman.
Les anciens de l’assemblée dirent: Que ferons-nous pour procurer des femmes à ceux qui restent, puisque les femmes de Benjamin ont été détruites?
17 And they said a possession of [the] escaped remnant [belongs] to Benjamin and not it will be wiped out a tribe from Israel.
Et ils dirent: Que les réchappés de Benjamin conservent leur héritage, afin qu’une tribu ne soit pas effacée d’Israël.
18 And we not we are able to give to them wives any of daughters our for they had sworn [the] people of Israel saying [be] cursed [one who] gives a wife to Benjamin.
Mais nous ne pouvons pas leur donner de nos filles pour femmes, car les enfants d’Israël ont juré, en disant: Maudit soit celui qui donnera une femme à un Benjamite!
19 And they said here! [the] festival of Yahweh [is] in Shiloh from days - days towards which [is] from north-ward of Beth-el [the] rising of towards the sun of [the] highway which goes up from Beth-el Shechem towards and from [the] south to Lebonah.
Et ils dirent: Voici, il y a chaque année une fête de l’Éternel à Silo, qui est au nord de Béthel, à l’orient de la route qui monte de Béthel, à Sichem, et au midi de Lebona.
20 (And they commanded *Q(K)*) [the] descendants of Benjamin saying go and you will lie in wait in the vineyards.
Puis ils donnèrent cet ordre aux fils de Benjamin: Allez, et placez-vous en embuscade dans les vignes.
21 And you will see and there! if they will come out [the] daughters of Shiloh to dance in dances and you will go out from the vineyards and you will seize for yourselves each man wife his from [the] daughters of Shiloh and you will go [the] land of Benjamin.
Vous regarderez, et voici, lorsque les filles de Silo sortiront pour danser, vous sortirez des vignes, vous enlèverez chacun une des filles de Silo pour en faire votre femme, et vous vous en irez dans le pays de Benjamin.
22 And it will be that they will come fathers their or brothers their (to make a complaint *Q(k)*) to us and we will say to them show favor for to us them for not we took each man wife his in the battle for not you you gave [them] to them about this time you will be guilty.
Si leurs pères ou leurs frères viennent se plaindre auprès de nous, nous leur dirons: Accordez-les-nous, car nous n’avons pas pris une femme pour chacun dans la guerre. Ce n’est pas vous qui les leur avez données; en ce cas, vous seriez coupables.
23 And they did thus [the] descendants of Benjamin and they carried off wives to number their from the dancers whom they seized and they went and they returned to inheritance their and they rebuilt the cities and they dwelt in them.
Ainsi firent les fils de Benjamin; ils prirent des femmes selon leur nombre parmi les danseuses qu’ils enlevèrent, puis ils partirent et retournèrent dans leur héritage; ils rebâtirent les villes, et y habitèrent.
24 And they dispersed from there [the] people of Israel at the time that each man to tribe his and to clan his and they went out from there each man to inheritance his.
Et dans le même temps les enfants d’Israël s’en allèrent de là chacun dans sa tribu et dans sa famille, ils retournèrent chacun dans son héritage.
25 In the days those there not [was] a king in Israel each man the right in own eyes his he will do.
En ce temps-là, il n’y avait point de roi en Israël. Chacun faisait ce qui lui semblait bon.
