Judges 12
1 And it was summoned [the] man of Ephraim and it passed over Zaphon towards and they said to Jephthah why? - did you pass over - to wage war against [the] people of Ammon and us not you summoned to go with you house your we will burn over you with fire.
Người Ép-ra-im huy động quân đội rồi vượt Sông Giô-đan đến Xa-phôn. Họ gửi thông điệp này cho Giép-thê: “Tại sao khi đi đánh Am-môn, ông không gọi chúng tôi tham chiến? Chúng tôi sẽ đốt nhà ông, luôn cả ông trong ấy!”
2 And he said Jephthah to them a man of strife I was I and people my and [the] people of Ammon exceedingly and I summoned you and not you delivered me from hand their.
Giép-thê trả lời: “Tôi đã xin các anh tiếp viện từ lúc bắt đầu cuộc chiến, nhưng các anh đã từ chối! Các anh đã không giúp chúng tôi chống lại quân Am-môn.
3 And I saw that not you ([were] a deliverer *L(abh)*) and I put! life my in palm my and I passed over! against [the] people of Ammon and he gave them Yahweh in hand my and why? have you come up against me the day this to fight against me.
Khi thấy các anh không đến, tôi đã liều mạng ra trận, và được Chúa Hằng Hữu cho thắng quân Am-môn. Thế mà, hôm nay các anh còn muốn đánh tôi?”
4 And he gathered Jephthah all [the] men of Gilead and he fought with Ephraim and they attacked [the] men of Gilead Ephraim for they had said [are] fugitives of Ephraim you O Gilead in [the] midst of Ephraim in [the] midst of Manasseh.
Người Ép-ra-im nhục mạ: “Người Ga-la-át chỉ là một bọn người sống chui sống nhủi giữa Ép-ra-im và Ma-na-se.” Nghe thế, Giép-thê triệu tập toàn dân Ga-la-át tấn công người Ép-ra-im và đánh bại họ.
5 And it captured Gilead [the] fords of the Jordan to Ephraim and it was that they said [the] fugitives of Ephraim let me pass over and they said to him [the] men of Gilead ¿ an Ephrathite [are] you and he said - no.
Giép-thê trấn đóng dọc Sông Giô-đan ở những khúc cạn, khi có người Ép-ra-im đào tẩu, muốn thoát qua sông, người Ga-la-át phải thử người ấy. Họ sẽ hỏi: “Anh có phải là người thuộc đại tộc Ép-ra-im không?” Nếu người ấy nói “Không,”
6 And they said to him say please Shibboleth and he said Sibboleth and not he gave attention to speak right and they seized him and they slaughtered him to [the] fords of the Jordan and it fell at the time that of Ephraim forty and two thousand.
thì họ sẽ bảo người ấy nói: “Si-bô-lết.” Nếu người ấy đến từ Ép-ra-im, người ấy sẽ nói “Xi-bô-lết,” vì người Ép-ra-im không thể phát âm chính xác. Rồi họ sẽ bắt và giết người ấy tại chỗ cạn của sông Giô-đan. Có tổng cộng 42.000 người Ép-ra-im bị giết trong thời gian ấy.
7 And he judged Jephthah Israel six years and he died Jephthah the Gileadite and he was buried in [the] cities of Gilead.
Giép-thê làm phán quan Ít-ra-ên trong sáu năm. Ông qua đời, được chôn trong thành ở Ga-la-át.
8 And he judged after him Israel Ibzan from Beth-lehem.
Sau khi Giép-thê chết, Íp-san ở Bết-lê-hem làm phán quan của Ít-ra-ên.
9 And it belonged to him thirty sons and thirty daughters he sent away the outside towards and thirty daughters he brought for sons his from the outside and he judged Israel seven years.
Ông có ba mươi trai và ba mươi gái. Ông dựng vợ gả chồng cho các con với các gia đình bên ngoài tộc. Íp-san làm phán quan Ít-ra-ên được bảy năm.
10 And he died Ibzan and he was buried in Beth-lehem.
Khi qua đời, ông được chôn ở Bết-lê-hem.
11 And he judged after him Israel Elon the Zebulunite and he judged Israel ten years.
Sau khi Íp-san chết, Ê-lôn, người Sa-bu-luân, làm phán quan Ít-ra-ên được mười năm.
12 And he died Elon the Zebulunite and he was buried in Aijalon in [the] land of Zebulun.
Khi qua đời, ông được chôn tại A-gia-lôn trong đất Sa-bu-luân.
13 And he judged after him Israel Abdon [the] son of Hillel the Pirathonite.
Sau khi Ê-lôn chết, Áp-đôn, con Hi-lên, ở Phi-ra-thôn, làm phán quan Ít-ra-ên.
14 And it belonged to him forty sons and thirty sons of sons [who] rode on seventy donkeys and he judged Israel eight years.
Ông có bốn mươi con trai và ba mươi cháu trai, mỗi người cưỡi một con lừa. Ông làm phán quan Ít-ra-ên được tám năm.
15 And he died Abdon [the] son of Hillel the Pirathonite and he was buried at Pirathon in [the] land of Ephraim in [the] hill country of the Amalekite[s].
Khi qua đời, ông được chôn tại Phi-ra-thôn trong đất Ép-ra-im, thuộc vùng cao nguyên A-ma-léc.
