Judges 11
1 And Jephthah the Gileadite he was a mighty [man] of strength and he [was] [the] son of a woman a prostitute and he fathered Gilead Jephthah.
Jephté, fils de Galaad, était un homme très-fort; il était né d'une prostituée qui l'avait eu de Galaad.
2 And she bore [the] wife of Gilead to him sons and they grew up [the] sons of the wife and they drove out Jephthah and they said to him not you will have an inheritance in [the] house of father our for [are] [the] son of a woman another you.
Or, la femme de Galaad avait enfanté pour celui-ci des fils; et les fils de cette femme devinrent grands, et ils chassèrent Jephté, et ils lui dirent: Tu n'auras point part à l'héritage de notre père, parce que tu es le fils d'une prostituée.
3 And he fled Jephthah [away] from before brothers his and he dwelt in [the] land of Tob and they joined themselves to Jephthah men unprincipled and they went out with him.
Jephté s'enfuit donc de devant la face de ses frères, et il demeura en la terre de Tob. Et des hommes dénués de tout se rassemblèrent autour de Jephté, et ils sortirent avec lui.
4 And it was from days and they fought [the] people of Ammon with Israel.
Lorsque les fils d'Ammon furent en guerre avec Israël,
5 And it was just when they fought [the] people of Ammon with Israel and they went [the] elders of Gilead to fetch Jephthah from [the] land of Tob.
Les anciens de Galaad allèrent prendre Jephté en la terre de Tob.
6 And they said to Jephthah come! and you will become of us a commander so let us fight against [the] people of Ammon.
Et ils dirent à Jephté: Viens, tu seras notre chef, et nous livrerons bataille aux fils d'Ammon.
7 And he said Jephthah to [the] elders of Gilead ¿ not you did you hate me and did you drive out? me from [the] house of father my and why? have you come to me now just when [is] distress to you.
Et Jephté dit aux anciens de Galaad: N'est-ce point vous qui m'avez haï, et qui m'avez expulsé de la maison paternelle, et qui m'avez chassé loin de vous? Pourquoi donc êtes-vous venus ici, maintenant que vous avez besoin de moi?
8 And they said [the] elders of Gilead to Jephthah therefore now we have returned to you and you will come with us and you will fight against [the] people of Ammon and you will become of us chief of all [the] inhabitants of Gilead.
Et les anciens de Galaad dirent à Jephté: Nous sommes venus te trouver, pour que tu viennes avec nous, que tu combattes les fils d'Ammon, et que tu sois le chef de tous ceux qui habitent Galaad.
9 And he said Jephthah to [the] elders of Gilead if [are] bringing back you me to fight against [the] people of Ammon and he will deliver up Yahweh them before me I I will become of you chief.
Et Jephté dit aux fils de Galaad: Si vous m'emmenez pour livrer bataille aux fils d'Ammon, et si le Seigneur me les livre, vous me laisserez dominer sur vous.
10 And they said [the] elders of Gilead to Jephthah Yahweh he will be hearing between us if not according to word your so we will do.
Et les anciens de Galaad dirent à Jephté: Que le Seigneur soit témoin entre nous, si nous n'agissons pas selon ta parole.
11 And he went Jephthah with [the] elders of Gilead and they made the people him over them into chief and into commander and he spoke Jephthah all words his before Yahweh in Mizpah.
Jephté partit donc avec les anciens de Galaad; le peuple le mit à sa tête et le reconnut pour chef; et Jephté dit toutes ses paroles devant le Seigneur en Massépha.
12 And he sent Jephthah messengers to [the] king of [the] people of Ammon saying what? [is] to me and to you that you have come to me to wage war against land my.
Et Jephté dépêcha des envoyés au roi des fils d'Ammon, disant: Qu'y a-t- il entre moi et toi, pour que tu viennes ici apporter la guerre en ma contrée?
13 And he said [the] king of [the] people of Ammon to [the] messengers of Jephthah that it took Israel land my when came up it from Egypt from [the] Arnon and to the Jabbok and to the Jordan and therefore restore! them in peace.
Le roi des fils d'Amnion dit aux envoyés de Jephté: Parce qu'Israël, en venant d'Egypte, s'est emparé de mon territoire depuis l'Arnon jusqu'au Jaboc, et jusqu'au Jourdain; maintenant rends-nous-le pacifiquement, et je me retirerai.
14 And he repeated again Jephthah and he sent messengers to [the] king of [the] people of Ammon.
Jephté insista, et il dépêcha au roi des fils d'Ammon des envoyés,
15 And he said to him thus he says Jephthah not it has taken Israel [the] land of Moab and [the] land of [the] people of Ammon.
Qui lui dirent: Voici ce que dit Jephté: Israël n'a point pris la terre de Moab, ni la terre des fils d'Ammon.
16 That when came up they from Egypt and it went Israel in the wilderness to [the] sea of reed[s] and it came Kadesh towards.
En venant de l'Egypte, Israël a traversé le désert jusqu'à la mer de Siph, et est arrivé à Cadès.
17 And it sent Israel messengers - to [the] king of Edom - saying let me pass please in land your and not he listened [the] king of Edom and also to [the] king of Moab it sent and not he was willing and it remained Israel at Kadesh.
De là, Israël a envoyé des messagers au roi d'Edom, disant: Je passerai par ta terre, et le roi d'Edom ne les a pas écoutés; et Israël a envoyé au roi de Moab, qui n'a pas voulu acquiescer à leur demande. Et Israël a campé en Cadès;
18 And it went in the wilderness and it went around [the] land of Edom and [the] land of Moab and it came from [the] rising of [the] sun of [the] land of Moab and they encamped! on [the] other side of [the] Arnon and not they went in [the] territory of Moab for [the] Arnon [was] [the] border of Moab.
Puis, il s'est avancé par le désert; il a tourné autour de la terre d'Edom et de la terre de Moab; il a passé à l'orient de la terre de Moab, il a dressé ses tentes au delà du torrent d'Arnon; mais il n'est point entré en Moab, puisque l'Arnon est hors des limites de Moab.
19 And it sent Israel messengers to Sihon [the] king of the Amorite[s] [the] king of Heshbon and it said to him Israel let us pass please in land your to own place my.
Après cela, Israël a envoyé des messagers à Sehon, roi des Amorrhéens, roi d'Esebon, et Israël lui a dit: Permets que nous traversions ta terre jusqu'au pays qui nous appartient.
20 And not he trusted Sihon Israel to pass in territory his and he gathered Sihon all people his and they encamped at Jahaz and he fought with Israel.
Séhon ne s'est pas fié à Israël pour le laisser traverser son territoire, et Séhon a rassemblé tout son peuple, et il a campé en Jasa, et il a combattu Israël.
21 And he gave Yahweh [the] God of Israel Sihon and all people his in [the] hand of Israel and they defeated them and it took possession of Israel all [the] land of the Amorite[s] [who] dwelt of the land that.
Le Seigneur Dieu d'Israël a livré Séhon et tout son peuple aux mains d'Israël, qui l'a accablé; et Israël a pris possession de tout le territoire de l'Amorrhéen qui habitait cette terre,
22 And they took possession of all [the] territory of the Amorite[s] from [the] Arnon and to the Jabbok and from the wilderness and to the Jordan.
Et il a pris possession de toutes les limites de l'Amorrhéen,
23 And now Yahweh - [the] God of Israel he has dispossessed the Amorite[s] from before people his Israel and you will you take possession of? it.
Et maintenant que le Seigneur Dieu d'Israël a fait disparaître l'Amorrhéen de devant la face de son peuple Israël, ce serait toi qui prendrais son héritage?
24 ¿ Not [that] which he will cause to possess you Chemosh god your it will you take possession of and all that he has dispossessed Yahweh God our from before us it we will take possession of.
N'est-ce point toi qui hérites de ceux dont Chamos, ton dieu, te livre l'héritage? Hériterons-nous de tous ceux que le Seigneur notre Dieu a fait disparaître de devant vous?
25 And now ¿ really good [are] you more than Balak [the] son of Zippor [the] king of Moab ¿ really did he quarrel with Israel or? ever did he wage war against them.
D'ailleurs, l'emportes-tu en vaillance sur Balac, fils de Sephor, roi de Moab? Est-ce qu'il a combattu et combattu Israël? est-ce qu'il a lui fait guerre sur guerre,
26 When dwelt Israel in Heshbon and in daughters its and in Aroer and in daughters its and in all the cities which [were] on [the] sides of [the] Arnon three hundred year[s] and why? not did you recover [them] at the time that.
Lorsque Israël eut habité trois cents ans Esebon et son territoire, Aroer et son territoire, et toutes les villes auprès du Jourdain? Et pourquoi donc pendant tout ce temps ne les as-tu pas réclamées?
27 And I not I have sinned to you and you [are] doing with me evil by waging war against me may he judge Yahweh the judge this day between [the] people of Israel and between [the] people of Ammon.
Ce n'est donc point moi aujourd'hui qui ai failli envers toi; tu agis mal à mon égard, en apportant la guerre en ma contrée; que le Seigneur juge entre les fils d'Israël et les fils d'Ammon.
28 And not he listened [the] king of [the] people of Ammon to [the] words of Jephthah which he sent to him.
Or, le roi des fils d'Ammon ne fit point attention aux paroles que Jephté lui avait fait dire.
29 And it was on Jephthah [the] spirit of Yahweh and he passed through Gilead and Manasseh and he passed through Mizpah of Gilead and from Mizpah of Gilead he he passed on [the] people of Ammon.
Et l'Esprit du Seigneur vint sur Jephté, qui traversa Galaad, Manassé, et passa au delà des hauteurs de Galaad, de l'autre côté des fils d'Ammon.
30 And he vowed Jephthah a vow to Yahweh and he said certainly [if] you will give [the] people of Ammon in hand my.
Et Jephté fit un vœu au Seigneur; il dit: Si vous livrez à ma main les fils d'Ammon,
31 And it will be whatever comes out which it will come out from [the] doors of house my to meet me when return I in peace from [the] people of Ammon and it will belong to Yahweh and I will offer up it a burnt offering.
Le premier qui, venant à ma rencontre, franchira les portes de ma maison, lorsque j'y retournerai après la paix, celui-là sera au Seigneur; je le lui offrirai en holocauste.
32 And he passed on Jephthah to [the] people of Ammon to fight against them (and he gave them *L(abh)*) Yahweh in hand his.
Jephté s'approcha donc des fils d'Ammon pour les combattre, et le Seigneur les livra à ses mains;
33 And he defeated them from Aroer and until coming you Minnith twenty citi[es] and to Abel Keramim a defeat great very and they were subdued [the] people of Ammon from before [the] people of Israel.
Il les écrasa dans vingt villes, depuis Aroer jusqu'à l'Arnon, et jusqu'à Ebel-Charmin; il les frappa d'une très-grande plaie, et les fils d'Ammon furent humbles devant la face des fils d'Israël.
34 And he came Jephthah Mizpah to house his and there! daughter his [was] coming out to meet him with tambourines and with dancing and only she [was] an only [child] not [belonged] to him from him a son or a daughter.
Puis, Jephté revint à Massépha en sa maison, et voilà que sa fille en sortit à sa rencontre, avec des tambours et des chœurs; elle était son unique enfant, il n'avait point d'autre fille, ni de fils.
35 And it was when saw he her and he tore clothes his and he said alas! O daughter my certainly you have brought low me and you you are among [those who] trouble me and I I have opened mouth my to Yahweh and not I am able to turn back.
Lorsqu'il la vit il déchira ses vêtements, et il dit: Hélas! hélas! ma fille, tu m'as consterné cruellement, et toi seule causes ma consternation, car j'ai contre toi ouvert la bouche devant le Seigneur, et je ne puis m'en dédire.
36 And she said to him O father my you have opened mouth your to Yahweh do to me just as it has come out from mouth your after that he did for you Yahweh vengeance from enemies your from [the] people of Ammon.
Et elle lui dit; Père, as-tu ouvert la bouche devant le Seigneur? Dispose de moi selon ce qui est sorti de ta bouche, puisque le Seigneur a tiré par toi vengeance des fils d'Ammon tes ennemis,
37 And she said to father her let it be done for me the thing this refrain from me two months so let me go and I will go down on the mountains so I may weep on virginiti my I (and companions my. *Q(K)*)
Elle dit encore à son père: Que mon père exauce cette prière: Laisse à ta fille deux mois; et je partirai; et j'irai par les monts, et je pleurerai ma virginité, moi et mes compagnes.
38 And he said go and he sent away her two months and she went she and companions her and she wept on virginiti her on the mountains.
Et il lui dit: Pars; et il la congédia pour deux mois; elle partit, elle et ses compagnes, et elle pleura sa virginité sur les monts.
39 And it was from [the] end of - two months and she returned to father her and he did to her vow his which he had vowed and she not she had known a man and it was a custom in Israel.
A la fin des deux mois, elle retourna vers son père, et il accomplit en elle le vœu qu'il avait fait; or, elle ne connut point d'homme, et elle fut l'occasion d'une loi en Israël.
40 From days - days towards they go [the] daughters of Israel to recount for [the] daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite four days in the year.
D'âge en âge, les filles d'Israël s'en vont quatre jours par an pleurer la fille de Jephté, fils de Galaad.
