Joshua 6
1 And Jericho [was] shutting and shut up because of [the] people of Israel there not [was one] going out and there not [was one] coming.
Ora Gerico era saldamente sbarrata dinanzi agli Israeliti; nessuno usciva e nessuno entrava.
2 And he said Yahweh to Joshua see I have given in hand your Jericho and king its [the] mighty [men] of strength.
Disse il Signore a Giosuè: «Vedi, io ti metto in mano Gerico e il suo re. Voi tutti prodi guerrieri,
3 And you will go around the city all [the] men of war you will encircle the city a time one thus you will do six days.
tutti atti alla guerra, girerete intorno alla città, facendo il circuito della città una volta. Così farete per sei giorni.
4 And seven priests they will carry seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark and on the day seventh you will go round the city seven times and the priests they will give a blast on the trumpets.
Sette sacerdoti porteranno sette trombe di corno d'ariete davanti all'arca; il settimo giorno poi girerete intorno alla città per sette volte e i sacerdoti suoneranno le trombe.
5 And it will be when blow - on [the] horn of ram's horn (just as hear you *Q(K)*) [the] sound of the trumpet they will shout all the people a shout loud and it will fall [the] wall of the city in place its and they will go up the people everyone before himself.
Quando si suonerà il corno dell'ariete, appena voi sentirete il suono della tromba, tutto il popolo proromperà in un grande grido di guerra, allora le mura della città crolleranno e il popolo entrerà, ciascuno diritto davanti a sé».
6 And he called Joshua [the] son of Nun to the priests and he said to them lift up [the] ark of the covenant and seven priests they will carry seven trumpets of rams' horns before [the] ark of Yahweh.
Giosuè, figlio di Nun, convocò i sacerdoti e disse loro: «Portate l'arca dell'alleanza; sette sacerdoti portino sette trombe di corno d'ariete davanti all'arca del Signore».
7 (And he said *Q(K)*) to the people pass on and go round the city and the armed [man] he will pass on before [the] ark of Yahweh.
Disse al popolo: «Mettetevi in marcia e girate intorno alla città e il gruppo armato passi davanti all'arca del Signore».
8 And it was when had said Joshua to the people and seven the priests [who] were carrying seven [the] trumpets of rams' horns before Yahweh they passed on and they gave a blast on the trumpets and [the] ark of [the] covenant of Yahweh [was] going after them.
Come Giosuè ebbe parlato al popolo, i sette sacerdoti, che portavano le sette trombe d'ariete davanti al Signore, si mossero e suonarono le trombe, mentre l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore li seguiva;
9 And the armed [man] [was] walking before the priests ([who] give a blast on *Q(K)*) the trumpets and the rearguard [was] walking behind the ark walking and giving blasts on the trumpets.
l'avanguardia precedeva i sacerdoti che suonavano le trombe e la retroguardia seguiva l'arca; si procedeva a suon di tromba.
10 And the people he commanded Joshua saying not you must shout and not you must make heard voice your and not it will go out from mouth your a word until [the] day say I to you shout and you will shout.
Al popolo Giosuè aveva ordinato: «Non urlate, non fate neppur sentire la voce e non una parola esca dalla vostra bocca finché vi dirò: Lanciate il grido di guerra, allora griderete».
11 And he caused to go around [the] ark of Yahweh the city it encircled [it] a time one and they went the camp and they stayed in the camp.
L'arca del Signore girò intorno alla città facendo il circuito una volta, poi tornarono nell'accampamento e passarono la notte nell'accampamento.
12 And he rose early Joshua in the morning and they lifted the priests [the] ark of Yahweh.
Di buon mattino Giosuè si alzò e i sacerdoti portarono l'arca del Signore;
13 And seven the priests [who] were carrying seven [the] trumpets of rams' horns before [the] ark of Yahweh [were] walking continuously and they gave blasts on the trumpets and the armed [man] [was] walking before them and the rearguard [was] walking behind [the] ark of Yahweh (walking *Q(K)*) and giving blasts on the trumpets.
i sette sacerdoti, che portavano le sette trombe di ariete davanti all'arca del Signore, avanzavano suonando le trombe; l'avanguardia li precedeva e la retroguardia seguiva l'arca del Signore; si marciava a suon di tromba.
14 And they went around the city on the day second a time one and they returned the camp thus they did six days.
Girarono intorno alla città, il secondo giorno, una volta e tornarono poi all'accampamento. Così fecero per sei giorni.
15 And it was - on the day seventh and they rose early when came up the dawn and they went around the city according to the custom this seven times only on the day that they went round the city seven times.
Al settimo giorno essi si alzarono al sorgere dell'aurora e girarono intorno alla città in questo modo per sette volte; soltanto in quel giorno fecero sette volte il giro intorno alla città.
16 And it was at the time seventh they gave a blast the priests on the trumpets and he said Joshua to the people shout for he has given Yahweh to you the city.
Alla settima volta i sacerdoti diedero fiato alle trombe e Giosuè disse al popolo: «Lanciate il grido di guerra perché il Signore mette in vostro potere la città.
17 And it will be the city a devoted thing it and all that [is] in it to Yahweh only Rahab the prostitute she will live she and every [one] who [is] with her in the house for she hid the messengers whom we sent.
La città con quanto vi è in essa sarà votata allo sterminio per il Signore; soltanto Raab, la prostituta, vivrà e chiunque è con lei nella casa, perché ha nascosto i messaggeri che noi avevamo inviati.
18 And only you keep from the devoted thing[s] lest you should totally destroy and you will take any of the devoted thing[s] and you will make [the] camp of Israel into a devoted thing and you will trouble it.
Solo guardatevi da ciò che è votato allo sterminio, perché, mentre eseguite la distruzione, non prendiate qualche cosa di ciò che è votato allo sterminio e rendiate così votato allo sterminio l'accampamento di Israele e gli portiate disgrazia.
19 And all - silver and gold and articles of bronze and iron [is] a holy thing it to Yahweh [the] treasury of Yahweh it will go.
Tutto l'argento, l'oro e gli oggetti di rame e di ferro sono cosa sacra per il Signore, devono entrare nel tesoro del Signore».
20 And it shouted the people and they gave a blast on the trumpets and it was when heard the people [the] sound of the trumpet and they shouted the people a shout loud and it fell the city wall in place its and it went up the people the city towards everyone before himself and they captured the city.
Allora il popolo lanciò il grido di guerra e si suonarono le trombe. Come il popolo udì il suono della tromba ed ebbe lanciato un grande grido di guerra, le mura della città crollarono; il popolo allora salì verso la città, ciascuno diritto davanti a sé, e occuparono la città.
21 And they totally destroyed all that [was] in the city from man and unto woman from young man and unto old [man] and unto ox[en] and sheep and donkey[s] to [the] mouth of [the] sword.
Votarono poi allo sterminio, passando a fil di spada, ogni essere che era nella città, dall'uomo alla donna, dal giovane al vecchio, e perfino il bue, l'ariete e l'asino.
22 And to two the men who had spied out the land he said Joshua go [the] house of the woman the prostitute and bring out from there the woman and every [one] who [belongs] to her just as you swore to her.
Ai due uomini che avevano esplorato il paese, Giosuè disse: «Entrate nella casa della prostituta, conducete fuori lei e quanto le appartiene, come le avete giurato».
23 And they went the young men who had spied out and they brought out Rahab and father her and mother her and brothers her and every [one] who [belonged] to her and all famili her they brought out and they put them from [the] outside of [the] camp of Israel.
Entrarono i giovani esploratori e condussero fuori Raab, suo padre, sua madre, i suoi fratelli e tutto quanto le apparteneva; fecero uscire tutta la sua famiglia e li stabilirono fuori dell'accampamento di Israele.
24 And the city they burned with fire and all that [was] in it only - the silver and the gold and [the] articles of bronze and iron they put [the] treasury of [the] house of Yahweh.
Incendiarono poi la città e quanto vi era, soltanto l'argento, l'oro e gli oggetti di rame e di ferro deposero nel tesoro della casa del Signore.
25 And Rahab the prostitute and [the] household of father her and every [one] who [belonged] to her he let live Joshua and she has dwelt in [the] midst of Israel until the day this for she hid the messengers whom he had sent Joshua to spy out Jericho.
Giosuè però lasciò in vita Raab, la prostituta, la casa di suo padre e quanto le apparteneva, ed essa abita in mezzo ad Israele fino ad oggi, perché aveva nascosto gli esploratori che Giosuè aveva inviato a Gerico.
26 And he administered an oath Joshua at the time that saying [is] cursed the person before Yahweh who he will arise and he will rebuild the city this Jericho with firstborn his he will found it and with young [son] his he will set up gates its.
In quella circostanza Giosuè fece giurare: «Maledetto davanti al Signore l'uomo che si alzerà e ricostruirà questa città di Gerico! Sul suo primogenito ne getterà le fondamenta e sul figlio minore ne erigerà le porte!».
27 And he was Yahweh with Joshua and it was [the] report of him in all the land.
Il Signore fu con Giosuè, la cui fama si sparse in tutto il paese.
