< Joshua 15 >
1 And it was the lot of [the] tribe of [the] descendants of Judah to clans their to [the] border of Edom [the] wilderness of Zin [the] south towards from [the] end of [the] south.
The assignment of land for the tribe of the people of Judah, clan by clan, extended south to the border of Edom, with the wilderness of Zin being the farthest point to the south.
2 And it was to them border of [the] south from [the] end of [the] Sea of Salt from the bay which faces [the] south towards.
Their border on the south ran from the end of the Salt Sea, from the bay that faces to the south.
3 And it goes out to from [the] south of [the] ascent of scorpions and it passes on Zin towards and it goes up from [the] south of Kadesh Barnea and it passes on Hezron and it goes up Addar towards and it turns Karka towards.
Their boundary next went out to the south of the hill of Akrabbim and passed along to Zin, and went up south of Kadesh Barnea, along by Hezron, and up to Addar, where it turned about to Karka.
4 And it passes on Azmon towards and it goes out [the] wadi of Egypt (and they are *Q(K)*) ([the] extremities of *LAH(b)*) the territory west-ward this it will be of you border of [the] south.
It passed along to Azmon, went by the brook of Egypt, and came to its end at the sea. This was their south boundary.
5 And [the] border east-ward [is] [the] Sea of Salt to [the] end of the Jordan and [the] border of [the] side of north-ward [is] from [the] bay of the sea from [the] end of the Jordan.
The eastern boundary was the Salt Sea, at the mouth of the Jordan. The border on the north ran from the bay of the sea at the mouth of the Jordan.
6 And it goes up the border Beth Hoglah and it passes on from [the] north of Beth Arabah and it goes up the border [the] stone of Bohan [the] son of Reuben.
It went up to Beth Hoglah and passed along north of Beth Arabah. Then it went up to the Stone of Bohan the son of Reuben.
7 And it goes up the border - Debir towards from [the] valley of Achor and north-ward [it is] turning to Gilgal which [is] opposite to [the] ascent of Adummim which [is] from [the] south of the wadi and it passes on the border to [the] waters of En Shemesh and they are extremities its to En Rogel.
Then the border went up to Debir from the Valley of Achor, and so northward, turning toward Gilgal, which is opposite the hill of Adummim, which is on the south side of the valley. Then the border passed along to the springs of En Shemesh and went to En Rogel.
8 And it goes up the border [the] valley of Ben Hinnom to [the] slope of the Jebusite[s] from [the] south that [is] Jerusalem and it goes up the border to [the] top of the mountain which [is] on [the] face of [the] valley of [Ben] Hinnom west-ward which [is] at [the] end of [the] valley of [the] Rephaites north-ward.
Then the border went up the Valley of Ben Hinnom to the south side of the Jebusite city (that is, Jerusalem). Then it went up to the top of the hill that lies over the Valley of Hinnom, on the west, which is at the northern end of the Valley of Rephaim.
9 And it turns the border from [the] top of the mountain to [the] spring of [the] waters of Nephtoah and it goes out to [the] cities of [the] mountain of Ephron and it turns the border Baalah that [is] Kiriath Jearim.
Then the border extended from the top of the hills to the spring of Nephtoah, and went out from there to the cities of Mount Ephron. Then the border bends around to Baalah (the same as Kiriath Jearim).
10 And it turns the border from Baalah west-ward to [the] mountain of Seir and it passes on to [the] slope of [the] mountain of Jearim from north-ward that [is] Kesalon and it goes down Beth Shemesh and it passes on Timnah.
Then the border circled around west of Baalah to Mount Seir, and passed along to the side of Mount Jearim on the north (the same as Kesalon), went down to Beth Shemesh, and crossed over to Timnah.
11 And it goes out the border to [the] slope of Ekron north-ward and it turns the border Shikkeron towards and it passes on [the] mountain of Baalah and it goes out Jabneel and they are [the] extremities of the territory west-ward.
The border went out beside the northern hill of Ekron, and then it bends around to Shikkeron and passed along to Mount Baalah, from there it went to Jabneel. The border ended at the sea.
12 And [the] border of [the] west [is] the sea towards great and territory this [is] [the] border of [the] descendants of Judah around to clans their.
The western boundary was the Great Sea and its coastline. This is the border around the tribe of Judah, clan by clan.
13 And to Caleb [the] son of Jephunneh someone gave a portion in among [the] descendants of Judah to [the] mouth of Yahweh to Joshua Kiriath Arba [the] father of Anak that [is] Hebron.
In keeping with the commandment of Yahweh to Joshua, Joshua gave Caleb son of Jephunneh an assignment of land among the tribe of Judah, Kiriath Arba, that is, Hebron (Arba was the father of Anak).
14 And he dispossessed from there Caleb three [the] sons of Anak Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai those born of Anak.
Caleb drove out from there the three sons of Anak: Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai, descendants of Anak.
15 And he went up from there against [the] inhabitants of Debir and [the] name of Debir before [was] Kiriath Sepher.
He went up from there against the inhabitants of Debir (Debir used to be called Kiriath Sepher).
16 And he said Caleb [the one] who he will strike Kiriath Sepher and he will capture it and I will give to him Achsah daughter my to a wife.
Caleb said, “The man who attacks Kiriath Sepher and captures it, to him I will give Aksah my daughter as a wife.”
17 And he captured it Othniel [the] son of Kenaz [the] brother of Caleb and he gave to him Achsah daughter his to a wife.
When Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb's brother, captured it, Caleb gave him Aksah his daughter as a wife.
18 And it was when came she and she incited him to ask from with father her a field and she went down from on the donkey and he said to her Caleb what? [is] to you.
Soon after that, Aksah came to Othniel and she urged him to ask her father for a field. When she got off her donkey, Caleb said to her, “What do you want?”
19 And she said give! to me a blessing for [the] land of the Negev you have given to me and you will give to me springs of water and he gave to her springs upper and springs lower.
Aksah replied, “Do me a special favor, since you have given me the land of the Negev: Also give me some springs of water.” Then Caleb gave her the upper springs and lower springs.
20 This [was] [the] inheritance of [the] tribe of [the] descendants of Judah to clans their.
This was the inheritance of the tribe of Judah, clan by clan.
21 And they were the cities from [the] end of [the] tribe of [the] descendants of Judah to [the] border of Edom in the south Kabzeel and Eder and Jagur.
The cities belonging to the tribe of Judah in the extreme south, toward the border of Edom, were Kabzeel, Eder, Jagur,
22 And Kinah and Dimonah and Adadah.
Kinah, Dimonah, Adadah,
23 And Kedesh and Hazor and Ithnan.
Kedesh, Hazor, Ithnan,
24 Ziph and Telem and Bealoth.
Ziph, Telem, Bealoth.
25 And Hazor - Hadattah and Kerioth Hezron that [is] Hazor.
Hazor Hadattah, Kerioth Hezron (this was also known as Hazor),
26 Amam and Shema and Moladah.
Amam, Shema, Moladah,
27 And Hazar Gaddah and Heshmon and Beth Pelet.
Hazar Gaddah, Heshmon, Beth Pelet,
28 And Hazar Shual and Beer Sheba and Biziothiah.
Hazar Shual, Beersheba, Biziothiah.
29 Baalah and Iim and Ezem.
Baalah, Iyim, Ezem,
30 And Eltolad and Kesil and Hormah.
Eltolad, Kesil, Hormah,
31 And Ziklag and Madmannah and Sansannah.

32 And Lebaoth and Shilhim and Ain and Rimmon all [the] cities [were] twenty and nine and villages their.
Lebaoth, Shilhim, Ain, and Rimmon. These were twenty-nine cities in all, including their villages.
33 In the Shephelah Eshtaol and Zorah and Ashnah.
In the lower hill country to the west, there were Eshtaol, Zorah, Ashnah,
34 And Zanoah and En Gannim Tappuah and Enam.
Zanoah, En Gannim, Tappuah, Enam,
35 Jarmuth and Adullam Socoh and Azekah.
Jarmuth, Adullam, Sokoh, Azekah,
36 And Shaaraim and Adithaim and Gederah and Gederothaim cities four-teen and villages their.
Shaaraim, Adithaim, and Gederah (that is, Gederothaim). These were fourteen cities in number, including their villages.
37 Zenan and Hadashah and Migdal Gad.
Zenan, Hadashah, Migdalgad,
38 And Dilean and Mizpah and Joktheel.
Dilean, Mizpah, Joktheel,
39 Lachish and Bozkath and Eglon.
Lachish, Bozkath, Eglon.
40 And Cabbon and Lahmas and Kitlish.
Kabbon, Lahmas, Kitlish,
41 And Gederoth Beth Dagon and Naamah and Makkedah cities six-teen and villages their.
Gederoth, Beth Dagon, Naamah, Makkedah. These were sixteen cities in number, including their villages.
42 Libnah and Ether and Ashan.
Libnah, Ether, Ashan,
43 And Iphtah and Ashnah and Nezib.
Iphtah, Ashnah, Nezib,
44 And Keilah and Aczib and Mareshah cities nine and villages their.
Keilah, Akzib, Mareshah. These were nine cities, including their villages.
45 Ekron and daughters its and villages its.
Ekron, with its surrounding towns and villages;
46 From Ekron and west-ward all that [is] on [the] hand of Ashdod and villages their.
from Ekron to the Great Sea, all the settlements that were near Ashdod, including their villages.
47 Ashdod daughters its and villages its Gaza daughters its and villages its to [the] wadi of Egypt and the sea (great *Q(K)*) and territory.
Ashdod, its surrounding towns, including their villages; Gaza, its surrounding towns including their villages; to the brook of Egypt, and to the Great Sea with its coastline.
48 And in the hill country Shamir and Jattir and Socoh.
In the hill country, Shamir, Jattir, Sokoh,
49 And Dannah and Kiriath Sannah that [is] Debir.
Dannah, Kiriath Sannah (that is, Debir),
50 And Anab and Eshtemoh and Anim.

51 And Goshen and Holon and Giloh cities one [plus] ten and villages their.
Goshen, Holon, and Giloh. These were eleven cities, including their villages.
52 Arab and Rumah and Eshan.
Arab, Dumah, Eshan,
53 (And Janum *Q(K)*) and Beth Tappuah and Aphekah.
Janim, Beth Tappuah, Aphekah,
54 And Humtah and Kiriath Arba that [is] Hebron and Zior cities nine and villages their.
Humtah, Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron), and Zior. These were nine cities, including their villages.
55 Maon - Carmel and Ziph and Juttah.
Maon, Carmel, Ziph, Juttah,
56 And Jezreel and Jokdeam and Zanoah.
Jezreel, Jokdeam, Zanoah,
57 Kain Gibeah and Timnah cities ten and villages their.
Kain, Gibeah, and Timnah. These were ten cities, including their villages.
58 Halhul Beth Zur and Gedor.
Halhul, Beth Zur, Gedor,
59 And Maarath and Beth Anoth and Eltekon cities six and villages their.
Maarath, Beth Anoth, and Eltekon. These were six cities, including their villages.
60 Kiriath Baal that [is] Kiriath Jearim and Rabbah cities two and villages their.
Kiriath Baal (that is, Kiriath Jearim), and Rabbah. These were two cities, including their villages.
61 In the wilderness Beth Arabah Middin and Secacah.
In the wilderness, there were Beth Arabah, Middin, Secacah,
62 And Nibshan and [the] city of Salt and En Gedi cities six and villages their.
Nibshan, the City of Salt, and En Gedi. These were six cities, including their villages.
63 And the Jebusite[s] [the] inhabitants of Jerusalem not (they were able *Q(K)*) [the] descendants of Judah to dispossess them and he has dwelt the Jebusite[s] with [the] descendants of Judah in Jerusalem until the day this.
But as for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the tribe of Judah could not drive them out, so the Jebusites live there with the tribe of Judah to this day.
