Joshua 14
1 And these [are that] which they inherited [the] people of Israel in [the] land of Canaan which they gave as a possession them Eleazar the priest and Joshua [the] son of Nun and [the] leaders of [the] fathers of the tribes of [the] people of Israel.
Voici ce qu’ont possédé les enfants d’Israël dans la terre de Chanaan que leur donnèrent Eléazar, le prêtre, et Josué, fils de Nun et les princes des familles de chaque tribu d’Israël,
2 By [the] allotted portion of inheritance their just as he had commanded Yahweh by [the] hand of Moses for [the] nine the tribes and [the] half of the tribe.
Distribuant tout par le sort, comme avait ordonné le Seigneur par l’entremise de Moïse, aux neuf tribus et à la demi-tribu de Manassé.
3 For he had given Moses [the] inheritance of [the] two the tribes and [the] half of the tribe from [the] other side of the Jordan and to the Levites not he had given an inheritance in midst of them.
Car aux deux autres tribus et à Y autre demi-tribu, Moïse avait donné au-delà du Jourdain une possession; à l’exception des Lévites qui ne reçurent aucune terre comme leurs frères;
4 For they were [the] descendants of Joseph two tribes Manasseh and Ephraim and not people gave a portion to the Levites in the land that except cities to dwell in and pasture lands their for livestock their and for possession[s] their.
Mais en leur place succédèrent les fils de Joseph, divisés en deux tribus, Manassé et Ephraïm; et les Lévites ne reçurent point d’autre part dans la terre de Chanaan que des villes pour les habiter, et leurs faubourgs pour leurs bêtes de somme et leurs troupeaux.
5 Just as he had commanded Yahweh Moses so they did [the] people of Israel and they apportioned the land.
Comme le Seigneur avait ordonné à Moïse, ainsi firent les enfants d’Israël, et ils partagèrent la terre.
6 And they approached [the] descendants of Judah to Joshua at Gilgal and he said to him Caleb [the] son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite you you know the word which he spoke Yahweh to Moses [the] man of God on causes my and on causes your at Kadesh Barnea.
C’est pourquoi les enfants de Juda vinrent trouver Josué à Galgala; et Caleb, fils de Jéphoné, le Cénézéen, lui dit: Tu sais ce que le Seigneur a dit de moi et de toi à Moïse, homme de Dieu, à Cadesbarné.
7 [was] a son of Forty year[s] I when sent Moses [the] servant of Yahweh me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land and I brought back him a word just as with heart my.
J’avais quarante ans, lorsque Moïse, serviteur du Seigneur, m’envoya de Cadesbarné, pour considérer la terre, et que je lui rapportai ce qui me paraissait vrai.
8 And brothers my who they went up with me they melted [the] heart of the people and I I filled after Yahweh God my.
Mais mes frères qui étaient montés avec moi, ont dissous le cœur du peuple; et néanmoins moi, je suivis le Seigneur mon Dieu.
9 And he swore an oath Moses on the day that saying if not the land which it trod foot your on it of you it will become an inheritance and of children your until perpetuity for you filled after Yahweh God my.
Et Moïse jura en ce jour-là, disant: La terre que ton pied a foulée sera ta possession et la possession de tes enfants pour toujours, parce que tu as suivi le Seigneur mon Dieu.
10 And now here! he has let live Yahweh - me just as he spoke this forty and five year[s] from then he spoke Yahweh the word this to Moses when it walked Israel in the wilderness and now here! I this day [am] a son of five and eighty year[s].
Le Seigneur m’a donc accordé la vie, comme il a promis jusqu’au présent jour. Il y a quarante-cinq ans que le Seigneur dit cette parole à Moïse, quand Israël allait à travers le désert: aujourd’hui j’ai quatre vingt-cinq ans.
11 Still I this day [am] strong just as on [the] day sent me Moses as strength my then and as strength my now for the battle and to go out and to come.
Aussi fort que je l’étais au temps que je fus envoyé pour explorer le pays: la vigueur de ce temps-là a persévéré jusqu’aujourd’hui, tant pour combattre que pour marcher.
12 And therefore give! to me the hill country this which he spoke Yahweh on the day that for you you heard on the day that that Anakites [were] there and cities large fortified perhaps Yahweh with me and I will dispossess them just as he spoke Yahweh.
Donne-moi donc cette montagne, que ma promise le Seigneur, toi-même l’entendant, sur laquelle sont des Enacim, des villes grandes et fortifiées; pour voir si le Seigneur sera avec moi, et si je pourrai les exterminer comme il m’a promis.
13 And he blessed him Joshua and he gave Hebron to Caleb [the] son of Jephunneh to an inheritance.
Et Josué le bénit, et il lui livra Hébron en possession.
14 There-fore it became Hebron of Caleb [the] son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite an inheritance until the day this because that he filled after Yahweh [the] God of Israel.
Et depuis, Hébron a été à Caleb, fils de Jéphoné, le Cénézéen, jusqu’au présent jour, parce qu’il suivit le Seigneur Dieu d’Israël.
15 And [the] name of Hebron before [was] Kiriath Arba [who was] the man great among the Anakites he and the land it was at peace from war.
Hébron était appelée auparavant du nom de Cariatharbé: Adam, le plus grand entre les Enacim, y est enterré: et le pays se reposa des combats.
