Jonah 4
1 And it was displeasing to Jonah displeasure great and it burned to him.
Ma Giona ne provò grande dispiacere e ne fu indispettito.
2 And he prayed to Yahweh and he said I beg you O Yahweh ¿ not [was] this word my until was I on own land my there-fore I did [the] first time to flee Tarshish towards that I knew that you [are] a God gracious and compassionate long of anger and great of covenant loyalty and [who] relents on evil.
Pregò il Signore: «Signore, non era forse questo che dicevo quand'ero nel mio paese? Per ciò mi affrettai a fuggire a Tarsis; perché so che tu sei un Dio misericordioso e clemente, longanime, di grande amore e che ti lasci impietosire riguardo al male minacciato.
3 And therefore O Yahweh take please life my from me for [is] good death my more than life my.
Or dunque, Signore, toglimi la vita, perché meglio è per me morire che vivere!».
4 And he said Yahweh ¿ rightly does it burn to you.
Ma il Signore gli rispose: «Ti sembra giusto essere sdegnato così?».
5 And he went out Jonah from the city and he sat from east of the city and he made for himself there a shelter and he sat under it in the shade until that he will see what? will it be in the city.
Giona allora uscì dalla città e sostò a oriente di essa. Si fece lì un riparo di frasche e vi si mise all'ombra in attesa di vedere ciò che sarebbe avvenuto nella città.
6 And he appointed Yahweh God a plant and it went up - over Jonah to be shade over head his to deliver him from distress his and he rejoiced Jonah on the plant a joy great.
Allora il Signore Dio fece crescere una pianta di ricino al di sopra di Giona per fare ombra sulla sua testa e liberarlo dal suo male. Giona provò una grande gioia per quel ricino.
7 And he appointed God a worm when came up the dawn to the next day and it attacked the plant and it withered.
Ma il giorno dopo, allo spuntar dell'alba, Dio mandò un verme a rodere il ricino e questo si seccò.
8 And it was - when arose the sun and he appointed God a wind an east wind hot and it struck the sun on [the] head of Jonah and he became faint and he asked life his to die and he said [is] good death my more than life my.
Quando il sole si fu alzato, Dio fece soffiare un vento d'oriente, afoso. Il sole colpì la testa di Giona, che si sentì venir meno e chiese di morire, dicendo: «Meglio per me morire che vivere».
9 And he said God to Jonah ¿ rightly does it burn to you on the plant and he said rightly it burns to me to death.
Dio disse a Giona: «Ti sembra giusto essere così sdegnato per una pianta di ricino?». Egli rispose: «Sì, è giusto; ne sono sdegnato al punto da invocare la morte!».
10 And he said Yahweh you you had compassion on the plant which not you had toiled in it and not you had made grow it that a son of a night it was and a son of a night it perished.
Ma il Signore gli rispose: «Tu ti dai pena per quella pianta di ricino per cui non hai fatto nessuna fatica e che tu non hai fatto spuntare, che in una notte è cresciuta e in una notte è perita:
11 And I not will I have compassion? on Nineveh the city great which there in it [are] many more than two [plus] ten ten thousand person[s] who not he distinguishes between right [hand] his and left his and livestock much.
e io non dovrei aver pietà di Ninive, quella grande città, nella quale sono più di centoventimila persone, che non sanno distinguere fra la mano destra e la sinistra, e una grande quantità di animali?».
