Jonah 4
1 And it was displeasing to Jonah displeasure great and it burned to him.
Jonas en éprouva un vif chagrin, et il fut irrité.
2 And he prayed to Yahweh and he said I beg you O Yahweh ¿ not [was] this word my until was I on own land my there-fore I did [the] first time to flee Tarshish towards that I knew that you [are] a God gracious and compassionate long of anger and great of covenant loyalty and [who] relents on evil.
Il fit une prière à Yahweh et dit: « Ah! Yahweh, n’est-ce pas là ce que je disais lorsque j’étais encore dans mon pays? C’est pourquoi je me suis d’abord enfui à Tharsis; car je savais que vous êtes un Dieu miséricordieux et clément, lent à la colère, riche en grâce et vous repentant du mal.
3 And therefore O Yahweh take please life my from me for [is] good death my more than life my.
Maintenant, Yahweh, retirez donc de moi mon âme, car la mort vaut mieux pour moi que la vie. »
4 And he said Yahweh ¿ rightly does it burn to you.
Et Yahweh répondit: « Fais-tu bien de t’irriter? »
5 And he went out Jonah from the city and he sat from east of the city and he made for himself there a shelter and he sat under it in the shade until that he will see what? will it be in the city.
Et Jonas sortit de la ville et s’assit à l’orient de la ville; là il se fit une hutte et s’assit dessous à l’ombre, jusqu’à ce qu’il vît ce qui arriverait dans la ville.
6 And he appointed Yahweh God a plant and it went up - over Jonah to be shade over head his to deliver him from distress his and he rejoiced Jonah on the plant a joy great.
Et Yahweh-Dieu fit pousser un ricin qui s’éleva au-dessus de Jonas pour qu’il y eût de l’ombre sur sa tête, afin de le délivrer de son mal; et Jonas éprouva une grande joie à cause du ricin.
7 And he appointed God a worm when came up the dawn to the next day and it attacked the plant and it withered.
Mais Yahweh fit venir, au lever de l’aurore, le lendemain, un ver qui piqua le ricin; et il sécha.
8 And it was - when arose the sun and he appointed God a wind an east wind hot and it struck the sun on [the] head of Jonah and he became faint and he asked life his to die and he said [is] good death my more than life my.
Et quand le soleil se leva, Yahweh fit venir un vent brûlant d’orient; et le soleil donna sur la tête de Jonas, au point qu’il défaillit. Il demanda de mourir et dit: « La mort vaut mieux pour moi que la vie. »
9 And he said God to Jonah ¿ rightly does it burn to you on the plant and he said rightly it burns to me to death.
Alors Dieu dit à Jonas: « Fais-tu bien de t’irriter à cause du ricin? « Il répondit: « Je fais bien de m’irriter jusqu’à la mort. »
10 And he said Yahweh you you had compassion on the plant which not you had toiled in it and not you had made grow it that a son of a night it was and a son of a night it perished.
Et Yahweh dit: « Tu t’affliges au sujet du ricin pour lequel tu n’as pas travaillé et que tu n’as pas fait croître, qui est venu en une nuit et qui a péri en une nuit;
11 And I not will I have compassion? on Nineveh the city great which there in it [are] many more than two [plus] ten ten thousand person[s] who not he distinguishes between right [hand] his and left his and livestock much.
et moi, je ne m’affligerais pas au sujet de Ninive, la grande ville, dans laquelle il y a plus de cent vingt mille hommes qui ne distinguent pas leur droite de leur gauche, et des animaux en grand nombre! »
