< John 6 >

1 After these things went away Jesus over the Sea of Galilee — of Tiberias.
tataH paraM yIshu rgAlIl pradeshIyasya tiviriyAnAmnaH sindhoH pAraM gatavAn|
2 (and *k*) Was following (now *no*) after Him a crowd great, because (they were experiencing *N(k)O*) (of him *k*) the signs which He was doing upon those being sick.
tato vyAdhimallokasvAsthyakaraNarUpANi tasyAshcharyyANi karmmANi dR^iShTvA bahavo janAstatpashchAd agachChan|
3 Went up now on the mountain (*k*) Jesus and there He was sitting with the disciples of Him.
tato yIshuH parvvatamAruhya tatra shiShyaiH sAkam|
4 Was now near the Passover the feast of the Jews.
tasmin samaya nistArotsavanAmni yihUdIyAnAma utsava upasthite
5 Having lifted up then the eyes Jesus and having seen that a great crowd is coming to Him He says to (*k*) Philip; From where (we may buy *N(k)O*) bread that may eat these?
yIshu rnetre uttolya bahulokAn svasamIpAgatAn vilokya philipaM pR^iShTavAn eteShAM bhojanAya bhojadravyANi vayaM kutra kretuM shakrumaH?
6 This now He was saying testing him; He himself for knew what He was about to do.
vAkyamidaM tasya parIkShArtham avAdIt kintu yat kariShyati tat svayam ajAnAt|
7 Answered Him (*n*) Philip; Two hundred denarii worth of loaves not are sufficient for them that each (of them *k*) little [piece] one may receive.
philipaH pratyavochat eteShAm ekaiko yadyalpam alpaM prApnoti tarhi mudrApAdadvishatena krItapUpA api nyUnA bhaviShyanti|
8 Says to Him one of the disciples of Him, Andrew the brother of Simon Peter;
shimon pitarasya bhrAtA AndriyAkhyaH shiShyANAmeko vyAhR^itavAn
9 Is a little boy (one *k*) here (who *N(k)O*) has five loaves barley and two small fish; but these what are for so many?
atra kasyachid bAlakasya samIpe pa ncha yAvapUpAH kShudramatsyadvaya ncha santi kintu lokAnAM etAvAtAM madhye taiH kiM bhaviShyati?
10 Said (now *k*) Jesus; do make the men to recline. There was now grass much in the place. Reclined therefore the men the number (about *N(k)O*) five thousand.
pashchAd yIshuravadat lokAnupaveshayata tatra bahuyavasasattvAt pa nchasahastrebhyo nyUnA adhikA vA puruShA bhUmyAm upAvishan|
11 Took (then *N(k)O*) the loaves Jesus and having given thanks He distributed (to the disciples now the disciples *K*) to those reclining, likewise also of the fish as much as they were wishing.
tato yIshustAn pUpAnAdAya Ishvarasya guNAn kIrttayitvA shiShyeShu samArpayat tataste tebhya upaviShTalokebhyaH pUpAn yatheShTamatsya ncha prAduH|
12 When now they were filled He says to the disciples of Him; do gather together the having been over and above fragments so that nothing anything may be lost.
teShu tR^ipteShu sa tAnavochad eteShAM ki nchidapi yathA nApachIyate tathA sarvvANyavashiShTAni saMgR^ihlIta|
13 They gathered together therefore and filled twelve hand-baskets of fragments from the five loaves barley which (exceeded *N(k)O*) to those having eaten.
tataH sarvveShAM bhojanAt paraM te teShAM pa nchAnAM yAvapUpAnAM avashiShTAnyakhilAni saMgR^ihya dvAdashaDallakAn apUrayan|
14 The therefore people having seen (what *NK(o)*) He had done (sign *NK(O)*) (Jesus *k*) were saying that This is truly the prophet who is coming into the world.
aparaM yIshoretAdR^ishIm AshcharyyakriyAM dR^iShTvA lokA mitho vaktumArebhire jagati yasyAgamanaM bhaviShyati sa evAyam avashyaM bhaviShyadvakttA|
15 Jesus therefore having known that they are about to come and to seize Him that they may make (Him *k*) king withdrew again to the mountain Himself alone.
ataeva lokA Agatya tamAkramya rAjAnaM kariShyanti yIshusteShAm IdR^ishaM mAnasaM vij nAya punashcha parvvatam ekAkI gatavAn|
16 When now evening it became, went down the disciples of Him to the sea,
sAyaMkAla upasthite shiShyA jaladhitaTaM vrajitvA nAvamAruhya nagaradishi sindhau vAhayitvAgaman|
17 and having climbed into (*k*) a boat they were going over the sea to Capernaum. And dark already it had become, and (not yet *N(k)O*) had come to them Jesus,
tasmin samaye timira upAtiShThat kintu yIShusteShAM samIpaM nAgachChat|
18 And the sea by a wind strong blowing was agitated.
tadA prabalapavanavahanAt sAgare mahAtara Ngo bhavitum Arebhe|
19 Having rowed therefore about stadia twenty five or thirty, they see Jesus walking on the sea and near the boat coming, and they were frightened.
tataste vAhayitvA dvitrAn kroshAn gatAH pashchAd yIshuM jaladherupari padbhyAM vrajantaM naukAntikam AgachChantaM vilokya trAsayuktA abhavan
20 And He says to them; I myself am [He], not do fear.
kintu sa tAnukttavAn ayamahaM mA bhaiShTa|
21 They were willing then to receive Him into the boat, and immediately was the boat at the land to which they were going.
tadA te taM svairaM nAvi gR^ihItavantaH tadA tatkShaNAd uddiShTasthAne naurupAsthAt|
22 On the next day the crowd which already standing on the other side of the sea (having seen *N(k)O*) that boat other no was there only except one (that into which climbed the disciples of him *K*) and for not went with the disciples of Him Jesus into the (boat *N(k)O*) but alone the disciples of Him went away;
yayA nAvA shiShyA agachChan tadanyA kApi naukA tasmin sthAne nAsIt tato yIshuH shiShyaiH sAkaM nAgamat kevalAH shiShyA agaman etat pArasthA lokA j nAtavantaH|
23 (another *NK(O)*) (now *k*) came (boats *NK(o)*) from Tiberias near the place where they ate the bread when was giving thanks to the Lord.
kintu tataH paraM prabhu ryatra Ishvarasya guNAn anukIrttya lokAn pUpAn abhojayat tatsthAnasya samIpasthativiriyAyA aparAstaraNaya Agaman|
24 When therefore saw the crowd that Jesus not is there nor [are] the disciples of Him, they climbed (also *k*) themselves into the (boats *N(k)O*) and came to Capernaum seeking Jesus,
yIshustatra nAsti shiShyA api tatra nA santi lokA iti vij nAya yIshuM gaveShayituM taraNibhiH kapharnAhUm puraM gatAH|
25 And having found Him on the other side of the sea they said to Him; Rabbi, when here have You come?
tataste saritpateH pAre taM sAkShAt prApya prAvochan he guro bhavAn atra sthAne kadAgamat?
26 Answered them Jesus and said; Amen Amen I say to you; you seek Me not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were satisfied.
tadA yIshustAn pratyavAdId yuShmAnahaM yathArthataraM vadAmi AshcharyyakarmmadarshanAddheto rna kintu pUpabhojanAt tena tR^iptatvA ncha mAM gaveShayatha|
27 do work not [for] the food that is perishing but [for] the food which is enduring unto life eternal which the Son of Man to you will give; Him for the Father has sealed God. (aiōnios g166)
kShayaNIyabhakShyArthaM mA shrAmiShTa kintvantAyurbhakShyArthaM shrAmyata, tasmAt tAdR^ishaM bhakShyaM manujaputro yuShmAbhyaM dAsyati; tasmin tAta IshvaraH pramANaM prAdAt| (aiōnios g166)
28 They said therefore to Him; What (shall we do *N(k)O*) that we may be doing the works of God?
tadA te. apR^ichChan IshvarAbhimataM karmma karttum asmAbhiH kiM karttavyaM?
29 Answered Jesus and said to them; This is the work of God that (you may believe *N(k)O*) in Him whom has sent He.
tato yIshuravadad Ishvaro yaM prairayat tasmin vishvasanam IshvarAbhimataM karmma|
30 They said therefore to Him; What then do You yourself [as a] sign that we may see and may believe You? What work do You perform?
tadA te vyAharan bhavatA kiM lakShaNaM darshitaM yaddR^iShTvA bhavati vishvasiShyAmaH? tvayA kiM karmma kR^itaM?
31 The fathers of us the manna ate in the wilderness even as it is written: Bread from heaven He gave them to eat.’
asmAkaM pUrvvapuruShA mahAprAntare mAnnAM bhokttuM prApuH yathA lipirAste| svargIyANi tu bhakShyANi pradadau parameshvaraH|
32 Said therefore to them Jesus; Amen Amen I say to you; not Moses (has given *NK(o)*) you the bread from heaven, but the Father of Mine gives you the bread from heaven true.
tadA yIshuravadad ahaM yuShmAnatiyathArthaM vadAmi mUsA yuShmAbhyaM svargIyaM bhakShyaM nAdAt kintu mama pitA yuShmAbhyaM svargIyaM paramaM bhakShyaM dadAti|
33 The for bread of God is the [One] coming down out of heaven and life giving to the world.
yaH svargAdavaruhya jagate jIvanaM dadAti sa IshvaradattabhakShyarUpaH|
34 They said therefore to Him; Sir, always do give to us bread this.
tadA te prAvochan he prabho bhakShyamidaM nityamasmabhyaM dadAtu|
35 Said (now *K(O)*) to them Jesus; I myself am the bread of life; the [one] coming to Me myself certainly not may hunger, and the [one] believing in Me myself certainly not (will thirst *N(k)O*) at any time.
yIshuravadad ahameva jIvanarUpaM bhakShyaM yo jano mama sannidhim AgachChati sa jAtu kShudhArtto na bhaviShyati, tathA yo jano mAM pratyeti sa jAtu tR^iShArtto na bhaviShyati|
36 But I said to you that also you have seen Me and yet not believe.
mAM dR^iShTvApi yUyaM na vishvasitha yuShmAnaham ityavochaM|
37 All that gives Me the Father to Me myself will come, and the [one] coming to Me myself certainly not shall I cast out,
pitA mahyaM yAvato lokAnadadAt te sarvva eva mamAntikam AgamiShyanti yaH kashchichcha mama sannidhim AyAsyati taM kenApi prakAreNa na dUrIkariShyAmi|
38 For I have come down (from *N(k)O*) heaven not that I may do the will of Me but the will of the [One who] having sent Me.
nijAbhimataM sAdhayituM na hi kintu prerayiturabhimataM sAdhayituM svargAd Agatosmi|
39 This now is the will of the [One who] having sent Me ([the] Father, *K*) that all that He has given Me none I may lose of it, but may raise up it in the last day.
sa yAn yAn lokAn mahyamadadAt teShAmekamapi na hArayitvA sheShadine sarvvAnaham utthApayAmi idaM matprerayituH piturabhimataM|
40 This (for *N(k)O*) is the will of the (Father *N(K)O*) (Mine, *N(k)O*) that everyone who is beholding the Son and believing in Him he may have life eternal, and will raise up him I myself (in *n*) the last day. (aiōnios g166)
yaH kashchin mAnavasutaM vilokya vishvasiti sa sheShadine mayotthApitaH san anantAyuH prApsyati iti matprerakasyAbhimataM| (aiōnios g166)
41 Were grumbling therefore the Jews about Him because He said; I myself am the bread having come down from heaven;
tadA svargAd yad bhakShyam avArohat tad bhakShyam ahameva yihUdIyalokAstasyaitad vAkye vivadamAnA vakttumArebhire
42 And they were saying; (Surely *N(k)O*) this is Jesus the son of Joseph, of whom we ourselves know the father and the mother? How (then *N(K)O*) says He (this *k*) that From heaven I have come down?
yUShaphaH putro yIshu ryasya mAtApitarau vayaM jAnIma eSha kiM saeva na? tarhi svargAd avAroham iti vAkyaM kathaM vaktti?
43 Answered (therefore *K*) (*k*) Jesus and said to them; Not do grumble with one another.
tadA yIshustAn pratyavadat parasparaM mA vivadadhvaM
44 No [one] is able to come to Me, only unless the Father the [one] having sent Me shall draw him, and I myself and I myself will raise up him in the last day.
matprerakeNa pitrA nAkR^iShTaH kopi jano mamAntikam AyAtuM na shaknoti kintvAgataM janaM charame. ahni protthApayiShyAmi|
45 It is written in the prophets: And they will be all taught (*k*) of God.’ Everyone (therefore *K*) who (having heard *NK(o)*) from the Father and having learned he comes to Me myself;
te sarvva IshvareNa shikShitA bhaviShyanti bhaviShyadvAdinAM grantheShu lipiritthamAste ato yaH kashchit pituH sakAshAt shrutvA shikShate sa eva mama samIpam AgamiShyati|
46 Not for the Father has seen anyone only except the [One] being from God, He has seen the Father.
ya IshvarAd ajAyata taM vinA kopi manuShyo janakaM nAdarshat kevalaH saeva tAtam adrAkShIt|
47 Amen Amen I say to you; the [one] believing (into me myself *KO*) has life eternal. (aiōnios g166)
ahaM yuShmAn yathArthataraM vadAmi yo jano mayi vishvAsaM karoti sonantAyuH prApnoti| (aiōnios g166)
48 I myself am the bread of life.
ahameva tajjIvanabhakShyaM|
49 The fathers of You ate in the wilderness the manna and died;
yuShmAkaM pUrvvapuruShA mahAprAntare mannAbhakShyaM bhUkttApi mR^itAH
50 This is the bread from heaven coming down, that anyone of it may eat and not may die.
kintu yadbhakShyaM svargAdAgachChat tad yadi kashchid bhu Nktte tarhi sa na mriyate|
51 I myself am the bread which is living from heaven having come down; if anyone shall have eaten of this bread, (he will live *N(k)O*) to the age. and the bread also that I myself will give the flesh of Me is (which I myself I will give *K*) for the of the world life. (aiōn g165)
yajjIvanabhakShyaM svargAdAgachChat sohameva idaM bhakShyaM yo jano bhu Nktte sa nityajIvI bhaviShyati| punashcha jagato jIvanArthamahaM yat svakIyapishitaM dAsyAmi tadeva mayA vitaritaM bhakShyam| (aiōn g165)
52 Were arguing therefore with one another the Jews saying; How is able this [man] us to give the flesh of Him to eat?
tasmAd yihUdIyAH parasparaM vivadamAnA vakttumArebhire eSha bhojanArthaM svIyaM palalaM katham asmabhyaM dAsyati?
53 Said therefore to them Jesus; Amen Amen I say to you; only unless you shall have eaten the flesh of the Son of Man and shall have drunk of Him the blood, not you have life in yourselves.
tadA yIshustAn Avochad yuShmAnahaM yathArthataraM vadAmi manuShyaputrasyAmiShe yuShmAbhi rna bhuktte tasya rudhire cha na pIte jIvanena sArddhaM yuShmAkaM sambandho nAsti|
54 The [one] eating of My flesh and drinking of My blood has life eternal, and I myself and I myself will raise up him in the last day. (aiōnios g166)
yo mamAmiShaM svAdati mama sudhira ncha pivati sonantAyuH prApnoti tataH sheShe. ahni tamaham utthApayiShyAmi| (aiōnios g166)
55 The for flesh of Me (true *N(k)O*) is food, and the blood of Me (true *N(k)O*) is drink.
yato madIyamAmiShaM paramaM bhakShyaM tathA madIyaM shoNitaM paramaM peyaM|
56 The [one] eating of My flesh and drinking of My blood in Me myself abides and I myself and I myself in him.
yo jano madIyaM palalaM svAdati madIyaM rudhira ncha pivati sa mayi vasati tasminnaha ncha vasAmi|
57 Even as sent Me the living Father and I myself and I myself live because of the Father, also the [one] feeding on Me he also he also (will live *N(k)O*) because of Me myself.
matprerayitrA jIvatA tAtena yathAhaM jIvAmi tadvad yaH kashchin mAmatti sopi mayA jIviShyati|
58 This is the bread from (*k*) heaven having come down, not even as ate the fathers (of you *K*) (*k*) (manna *K*) and died; The [one] eating this bread (will live *N(k)O*) to the age. (aiōn g165)
yadbhakShyaM svargAdAgachChat tadidaM yanmAnnAM svAditvA yuShmAkaM pitaro. amriyanta tAdR^isham idaM bhakShyaM na bhavati idaM bhakShyaM yo bhakShati sa nityaM jIviShyati| (aiōn g165)
59 These things He said in [the] synagogue teaching in Capernaum.
yadA kapharnAhUm puryyAM bhajanagehe upAdishat tadA kathA etA akathayat|
60 Many therefore having heard of the disciples of Him said; Difficult is word this; who is able it to hear?
tadetthaM shrutvA tasya shiShyANAm aneke parasparam akathayan idaM gADhaM vAkyaM vAkyamIdR^ishaM kaH shrotuM shakruyAt?
61 knowing however Jesus in Himself that are grumbling about this the disciples of Him He said to them; This you does offend?
kintu yIshuH shiShyANAm itthaM vivAdaM svachitte vij nAya kathitavAn idaM vAkyaM kiM yuShmAkaM vighnaM janayati?
62 What if then you shall see the Son of Man ascending where He was before?
yadi manujasutaM pUrvvavAsasthAnam UrdvvaM gachChantaM pashyatha tarhi kiM bhaviShyati?
63 The Spirit is the [one] giving life, the flesh not profits no [thing]; The declarations that I myself (have spoken *N(k)O*) to you spirit are and life they are.
Atmaiva jIvanadAyakaH vapu rniShphalaM yuShmabhyamahaM yAni vachAMsi kathayAmi tAnyAtmA jIvana ncha|
64 But they are of you some who not believe. Knew for from [the] beginning Jesus who are those not believing and who it is who will betray Him.
kintu yuShmAkaM madhye kechana avishvAsinaH santi ke ke na vishvasanti ko vA taM parakareShu samarpayiShyati tAn yIshurAprathamAd vetti|
65 And He was saying; Because of this have I said to you that no [one] is able to come to Me only unless it shall granted to him from the Father (of mine. *k*)
aparamapi kathitavAn asmAt kAraNAd akathayaM pituH sakAshAt shakttimaprApya kopi mamAntikam AgantuM na shaknoti|
66 From that [time] many (out of *no*) the disciples of Him went away to the back and no longer no longer with Him were walking.
tatkAle. aneke shiShyA vyAghuTya tena sArddhaM puna rnAgachChan|
67 Said therefore Jesus to the Twelve; Surely not also you yourselves are wishing to go away?
tadA yIshu rdvAdashashiShyAn ukttavAn yUyamapi kiM yAsyatha?
68 Answered (therefore *K*) Him Simon Peter; Lord, to whom will we go? declarations of life eternal You have, (aiōnios g166)
tataH shimon pitaraH pratyavochat he prabho kasyAbhyarNaM gamiShyAmaH? (aiōnios g166)
69 and we ourselves have believed and have known that You yourself are (Christ *K*) the (Holy One *N(K)O*) of God (who is living. *K*)
anantajIvanadAyinyo yAH kathAstAstavaiva| bhavAn amareshvarasyAbhiShikttaputra iti vishvasya nishchitaM jAnImaH|
70 Answered them Jesus; Not I myself you the Twelve did choose, and of you one a devil is?
tadA yIshuravadat kimahaM yuShmAkaM dvAdashajanAn manonItAn na kR^itavAn? kintu yuShmAkaM madhyepi kashchideko vighnakArI vidyate|
71 He was speaking now of Judas [son] of Simon (Iscariot; *N(k)O*) he for was about to betray Him one (being *ko*) of the Twelve.
imAM kathaM sa shimonaH putram IShkarIyotIyaM yihUdAm uddishya kathitavAn yato dvAdashAnAM madhye gaNitaH sa taM parakareShu samarpayiShyati|
