Job 29
1 And he repeated Job to take up discourse his and he said.
Job prenant encore de nouveau sa parabole, dit:
2 Who? will he give me like months of long ago like [the] days [when] God he watched over me.
Qui m’accordera que je sois comme dans les anciens mois, comme aux jours dans lesquels Dieu me gardait;
3 When made shine he lamp his over head my to light his I walked darkness.
Quand sa lampe luisait sur ma tête, et qu’à sa lumière je marchais dans les ténèbres;
4 Just as I was in [the] days of prime my in [the] intimacy of God on tent my.
Comme je fus aux jours de ma jeunesse, quand en secret Dieu était dans mon tabernacle;
5 While still [the] Almighty [was] with me [were] around me lads my.
Quand le Tout-Puissant était avec moi, et qu’autour de moi étaient mes serviteurs;
6 When bathed steps my in curd and a rock it poured out beside me streams of oil.
Quand je lavais mes pieds dans le beurre, et qu’une pierre répandait pour moi des ruisseaux d’huile;
7 When went out I [the] gate on [the] town in the public square I prepared seat my.
Quand je m’avançais vers la porte de la ville, et que sur la place publique on me préparait un siège?
8 They saw me young men and they hid themselves and old [men] they rose they stood.
Les jeunes hommes me voyaient, et se retiraient à l’écart; et les vieillards, se levant, se tenaient debout.
9 Chiefs they restrained words and a hand they put to mouth their.
Les princes cessaient de parler, et mettaient un doigt sur leur bouche.
10 [the] voice of Nobles they were hidden and tongue their to palate their it stuck.
Les grands retenaient leur voix, et leur langue s’attachait à leur palais.
11 For an ear it heard and it called blessed me and an eye it saw and it bore witness to me.
L’oreille qui m’entendait me proclamait bienheureux, et l’œil qui me voyait me rendait témoignage;
12 That I rescued [the] afflicted [who] cried for help and [the] fatherless and [the one whom] not a helper [belonged] to him.
Parce que j’avais délivré le pauvre qui criait, et l’orphelin qui n’avait pas de soutien.
13 [the] blessing of [one] about to perish On me it came and [the] heart of a widow I made sing for joy.
La bénédiction de celui qui allait périr venait sur moi, et je consolais le cœur de la veuve.
14 Righteousness I put on and it clothed me [was] like a robe and a turban justice my.
Je me suis revêtu de la justice, et l’équité de mes jugements m’a servi comme de vêtement et de diadème.
15 Eyes I was to the blind and [was] feet to the lame I.
J’ai été un œil pour l’aveugle, et un pied pour le boiteux.
16 [was] a father I to the needy [people] and a case at law of [the one whom] not I knew I investigated it.
J’étais le père des pauvres; et l’affaire que je ne connaissais pas, je l’étudiais avec le plus grand soin.
17 And I broke! [the] jaws of [the] unrighteous and from teeth his I threw [the] prey.
Je brisais les mâchoires de l’injuste, et j’arrachais la proie de ses dents.
18 And I said with nest my I will expire and like sand I will increase days.
Et je disais: C’est dans mon petit nid que je mourrai, et comme le palmier, je multiplierai mes jours.
19 Root my [is] opened to water and dew it will remain overnight on branch[es] my.
Ma racine s’étend le long des eaux, et la rosée se reposera sur ma moisson.
20 Honor my [is] new with me and bow my in hand my it will show newness.
Ma gloire se renouvellera tous les jours et mon arc se fortifiera dans ma main.
21 To me people listened and they waited and they may be silent for counsel my.
Ceux qui m’écoutaient attendaient mon sentiment, et, attentifs, ils se tenaient en silence pour recevoir mon avis.
22 After word my not they repeated and on them it dropped speech my.
Ils n’osaient rien ajouter à mes paroles, et mon discours coulait sur eux goutte à goutte.
23 And they waited like the rain for me and mouth their they opened wide for spring rain.
Ils me souhaitaient comme l’eau du ciel, et ils ouvraient leur bouche, comme la terre s’ouvre à la pluie de l’arrière-saison.
24 I laughed to them not they believed and [the] light of face my not they made fall!
Si quelquefois je leur souriais, ils ne le croyaient pas, et la lumière de mon visage ne tombait pas à terre.
25 I chose way their so I may sit [as] chief so I may dwell like a king among the troop[s] just as mourners someone comforts.
Si je voulais aller parmi eux, j’avais la première place; et lorsque j’étais assis comme un roi entouré de son armée, j’étais cependant le consolateur des affligés.
