Jeremiah 41

1 And it was - in the month seventh he came Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah [the] son of Elishama one of [the] offspring of royalty and [the] chiefs of the king and ten men [who were] with him to Gedaliah [the] son of Ahikam Mizpah towards and they were eating there food together at Mizpah.

सातवें माह में एलीशामा का पौत्र नेथनियाह का पुत्र, राजपरिवार का वंशज इशमाएल, राजा के प्रमुख सेनापतियों में से एक तथा दस व्यक्ति अहीकाम के पुत्र गेदालियाह से भेंट करने मिज़पाह पहुंचे. जब वे वहां साथ बैठे हुए भोजन कर रहे थे,

2 And he arose Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah and [the] ten the men - who they were with him and they struck down Gedaliah [the] son of Ahikam [the] son of Shaphan with the sword and he killed him whom he had appointed [the] king of Babylon over the land.

नेथनियाह का पुत्र इशमाएल तथा उसके दस साथी उठे और तलवार के प्रहार से शापान के पौत्र, अहीकाम के पुत्र गेदालिया का वध कर दिया, गेदालियाह, जिसे बाबेल के राजा ने देश पर अधिपति नियुक्त किया था.

3 And all the Jews who they were with him with Gedaliah at Mizpah and the Chaldeans who they were found there [the] men of war he struck down Ishmael.

इशमाएल ने राजा के सारे यहूदियों का भी संहार कर दिया, अर्थात् वे, जो मिज़पाह में गेदालियाह के साथ थे, उसने उन कसदी सैनिकों का भी संहार कर दिया, जो उस स्थान पर पाए गए.

4 And it was on the day second of killing Gedaliah and anyone not he knew.

दूसरे दिन, जब गेदालियाह की हत्या की जा चुकी थी, जिसके विषय में किसी को कोई संज्ञान न था,

5 And they came men from Shechem from Shiloh and from Samaria eighty man shaven of beard and torn of clothes and having cut themselves and an offering and frankincense in hand their to bring [the] house of Yahweh.

शेकेम से, शीलो से तथा शमरिया से अस्सी व्यक्ति वहां पहुंचे, उनकी दाढ़ी मूंड़ी हुई थी, वस्त्र फटे हुए तथा देह पर घाव लगे हुए थे, वे अपने साथ अन्‍नबलि एवं धूप लेकर आए थे, कि इन्हें याहवेह के भवन में ले जाएं.

6 And he went out Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah to meet them from Mizpah going continually and weeping and it was when met them and he said to them come to Gedaliah [the] son of Ahikam.

तब नेथनियाह का पुत्र इशमाएल मिज़पाह से उनसे भेंट करने निकला, इस समय वह रोता जा रहा था. जब उसकी भेंट इन अस्सी व्यक्तियों के समूह से हुई, उसने उनसे कहा, “चलिए, हम अहीकाम के पुत्र गेदालियाह से भेंट करने चलें.”

7 And it was when came they into [the] middle of the city and he slaughtered them Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah into [the] middle of the cistern he and the men who [were] with him.

उनके नगर में पहुंचते ही, नेथनियाह के पुत्र इशमाएल तथा उसके साथियों ने उनकी हत्या कर दी और उनके शव कुएं में फेंक दिए.

8 And ten men they were found among them and they said to Ishmael may not you kill us for there is [belonging] to us treasures in the field wheat and barley and oil and honey and he refrained and not he killed them in among relatives their.

किंतु इन अस्सी में से दस जीवित रह गए थे, उन्होंने इशमाएल से आग्रह किया, “हमें जीवनदान दीजिए! हमारे पास गेहूं, जौ, मधु तथा तेल का भंडार है, जिसे हमने खेत में छिपा रखा है.” तब इशमाएल ने अन्य सत्तर के साथ उनकी हत्या नहीं की.

9 And the cistern where he threw there Ishmael - all [the] corpses of the men whom he had struck down by [the] hand of Gedaliah it [was [the] one] which he had made the king Asa because of Baasha [the] king of Israel it he filled Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah [those] slain.

वह कुंआ जिसमें इशमाएल ने उन लोगों के शव फेंक दिए थे, जिनकी उसने गेदालियाह के साथ हत्या की थी, राजा आसा द्वारा इस्राएल के राजा बाशा से अपनी सुरक्षा के उद्देश्य से निर्मित किया गया था. नेथनियाह के पुत्र इशमाएल ने इस कुएं को मरे हुओं के शवों से भर दिया.

10 And he took captive - Ishmael all [the] rest of the people which [was] in Mizpah [the] daughters of the king and all the people who remained at Mizpah whom he had appointed Nebuzaradan [the] chief of [the] bodyguards with Gedaliah [the] son of Ahikam and he took captive them Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah and he went to pass over to [the] people of Ammon.

तत्पश्चात इशमाएल ने मिज़पाह में निवास कर रहे सारे लोगों को बंदी बना लिया, राजा की बेटियों तथा मिज़पाह में शेष रह गए सभी यहूदी, जिन्हें अंगरक्षकों के प्रधान, नेबुज़रादान ने अहीकाम के पुत्र गेदालियाह के संरक्षण में छोड़ रखा था. इस प्रकार नेथनियाह के पुत्र इशमाएल ने इन सभी को बंदी बना लिया और वह अम्मोन वंशजों के देश की ओर इन्हें लेकर प्रस्थित हो गया.

11 And he heard Johanan [the] son of Kareah and all [the] commanders of the armies who [were] with him all the evil which he had done Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah.

नेथनियाह के पुत्र इशमाएल द्वारा किए गए इस संकट का समाचार कोरियाह के पुत्र योहानन तथा उसके साथ की संयुक्त सेना के सेनापतियों को प्राप्‍त हुआ,

12 And they took all the men and they went to do battle with Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah and they found him to water great which [is] in Gibeon.

इसलिये उन्होंने सभी पुरुषों को एकजुट किया और नेथनियाह के पुत्र इशमाएल से युद्ध करने के लिए तैयार हुए. नेथनियाह के पुत्र इशमाएल को उन्होंने गिबयोन के महा कुंड के निकट जा पकड़ा.

13 And it was when saw all the people which [was] with Ishmael Johanan [the] son of Kareah and all [the] commanders of the armies who [were] with him and they were glad.

जैसे ही इशमाएल के सारे साथियों की दृष्टि कोरियाह के पुत्र योहानन तथा उसके साथी सेनापतियों पर पड़ी, वे पुलकित हो गए.

14 And they turned round all the people which he had taken captive Ishmael from Mizpah and they turned back and they went to Johanan [the] son of Kareah.

इससे मिज़पाह में इशमाएल द्वारा बंदी बनाए गए सभी लोग मुड़कर कोरियाह के पुत्र योहानन के निकट आ गए.

15 And Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah he escaped with eight men from before Johanan and he went to [the] people of Ammon.

किंतु नेथनियाह का पुत्र इशमाएल योहानन से बचकर भाग निकला, उसके साथ आठ व्यक्ति भी बच निकले और अम्मोन वंशजों के देश पहुंच गए.

16 And he took Johanan [the] son of Kareah and all [the] commanders of the armies who [were] with him all [the] rest of the people which he had brought back from with Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah from Mizpah after he had struck down Gedaliah [the] son of Ahikam men [the] men of war and women and little one[s] and court-officials whom he had brought back from Gibeon.

तब कोरियाह के पुत्र योहानन तथा उसके साथ की सेना के सारे सेनापतियों ने मिज़पाह से लोगों के संपूर्ण लोगों को निकाल लिया, जिन्हें उसने नेथनियाह के पुत्र इशमाएल से विमुक्त किया था, जिन्हें इशमाएल ने अहीकाम के पुत्र गेदालियाह की हत्या के बाद बंदी बना लिया था, अर्थात्, सैनिक, स्त्रियां, बालक; तथा राज-दरबार के अधिकारी जिन्हें उसने गिबयोन से लौटा ले आया था.

17 And they went and they remained at Geruth (Kimham *Q(K)*) which [is] beside Beth-lehem to go to go Egypt.

उपयुक्त समय आने पर मिस्र चले जाने के उद्देश्य से वे जाकर बेथलेहेम के निकटवर्ती नगर गेरुथ किमहाम में ठहरे रहे.

18 From before the Chaldeans for they were afraid of them for he had struck down Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah Gedaliah [the] son of Ahikam whom he had appointed [the] king of Babylon over the land.

क्योंकि उन्हें कसदियों का भय था. क्योंकि नेथनियाह के पुत्र इशमाएल ने अहीकाम के पुत्र गेदालियाह की हत्या कर दी थी, जिसको बाबेल के राजा ने देश पर अधिपति नियुक्त किया था.
