Jeremiah 41

1 And it was - in the month seventh he came Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah [the] son of Elishama one of [the] offspring of royalty and [the] chiefs of the king and ten men [who were] with him to Gedaliah [the] son of Ahikam Mizpah towards and they were eating there food together at Mizpah.

Au septième mois, Ismaël, fils de Nathanias, fils d'Elisama, de la race royale, vint, accompagné de grands officiers du roi et de dix hommes, vers Godolias, fils d'Ahicam, à Maspha; et ils mangèrent ensemble à Maspha,

2 And he arose Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah and [the] ten the men - who they were with him and they struck down Gedaliah [the] son of Ahikam [the] son of Shaphan with the sword and he killed him whom he had appointed [the] king of Babylon over the land.

Et Ismaël, fils de Nathanias, se leva, lui et les dix hommes qui étaient avec lui, et ils frappèrent avec l'épée Godolias, fils d'Ahicam, fils de Saphan, et ils le firent mourir — lui que le roi de Babylone avait établi gouverneur du pays,

3 And all the Jews who they were with him with Gedaliah at Mizpah and the Chaldeans who they were found there [the] men of war he struck down Ishmael.

— ainsi que tous les judéens qui étaient avec lui, — avec Godolias, — à Maspha; Ismaël tua aussi les Chaldéens qui se trouvaient là, les gens de guerre.

4 And it was on the day second of killing Gedaliah and anyone not he knew.

Le second jour après le meurtre de Godolias, avant que personne le sût,

5 And they came men from Shechem from Shiloh and from Samaria eighty man shaven of beard and torn of clothes and having cut themselves and an offering and frankincense in hand their to bring [the] house of Yahweh.

des hommes vinrent de Sichem, de Silo et de Samarie, au nombre de quatre-vingts, la barbe rasée, les vêtements déchirés et le corps couvert d'incisions; ils portaient des offrandes et de l'encens, pour les présenter à la maison de Yahweh.

6 And he went out Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah to meet them from Mizpah going continually and weeping and it was when met them and he said to them come to Gedaliah [the] son of Ahikam.

Ismaël, fils de Nathanias, sortit de Maspha à leur rencontre, tout en pleurant; et, quand il les eut atteints, il leur dit: " Venez vers Godolias, fils d'Ahicam. "

7 And it was when came they into [the] middle of the city and he slaughtered them Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah into [the] middle of the cistern he and the men who [were] with him.

Mais dès qu'ils furent entrés au milieu de la ville, Ismaël, fils de Nathanias, les égorgea et les jeta au milieu de la citerne, lui et les hommes qui étaient avec lui.

8 And ten men they were found among them and they said to Ishmael may not you kill us for there is [belonging] to us treasures in the field wheat and barley and oil and honey and he refrained and not he killed them in among relatives their.

Mais il se trouva parmi eux dix hommes qui dirent à Ismaël: " Ne nous fais pas mourir, car nous avons dans les champs des provisions cachées de froment, d'orge, d'huile et de miel. " Alors il s'arrêta et ne les fit pas mourir au milieu de leurs frères.

9 And the cistern where he threw there Ishmael - all [the] corpses of the men whom he had struck down by [the] hand of Gedaliah it [was [the] one] which he had made the king Asa because of Baasha [the] king of Israel it he filled Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah [those] slain.

La citerne dans laquelle Ismaël jeta les cadavres des hommes qu'il avait frappés à cause de Godolias, est celle que le roi Asa avait faite en vue de Baasa, roi d'Israël; c'est elle qu'Ismaël, fils de Nathanias, remplit de cadavres.

10 And he took captive - Ishmael all [the] rest of the people which [was] in Mizpah [the] daughters of the king and all the people who remained at Mizpah whom he had appointed Nebuzaradan [the] chief of [the] bodyguards with Gedaliah [the] son of Ahikam and he took captive them Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah and he went to pass over to [the] people of Ammon.

Et Ismaël emmena prisonnier le reste du peuple qui était à Maspha, les filles du roi et tout le peuple qui était resté à Maspha, auxquels Nabuzardan, chef des gardes, avait donné pour chef Godolias, fils d'Ahicam; Ismaël, fils de Nathanias, les emmena prisonniers, et partit pour passer chez les fils d'Ammon.

11 And he heard Johanan [the] son of Kareah and all [the] commanders of the armies who [were] with him all the evil which he had done Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah.

Johanan, fils de Carée, et tous les chefs de troupes qui étaient avec lui, ayant appris tout le mal qu'Ismaël, fils de Nathanias, avait fait,

12 And they took all the men and they went to do battle with Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah and they found him to water great which [is] in Gibeon.

prirent tous leurs hommes et se mirent en marche pour combattre Ismaël, fils de Nathanias; ils l'atteignirent près du grand étang de Gabaon.

13 And it was when saw all the people which [was] with Ishmael Johanan [the] son of Kareah and all [the] commanders of the armies who [were] with him and they were glad.

Et quand tout le peuple qui était avec Ismaël, vit Johanan, fils de Carée, et tous les chefs des troupes qui étaient avec lui, il s'en réjouit.

14 And they turned round all the people which he had taken captive Ishmael from Mizpah and they turned back and they went to Johanan [the] son of Kareah.

Et tout le peuple qu'Ismaël emmenait prisonnier de Maspha se retourna et vint se joindre à Johanan, fils de Carée.

15 And Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah he escaped with eight men from before Johanan and he went to [the] people of Ammon.

Mais Ismaël, fils de Nathanias, s'échappa avec huit hommes devant Johanan, et alla chez les fils d'Ammon.

16 And he took Johanan [the] son of Kareah and all [the] commanders of the armies who [were] with him all [the] rest of the people which he had brought back from with Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah from Mizpah after he had struck down Gedaliah [the] son of Ahikam men [the] men of war and women and little one[s] and court-officials whom he had brought back from Gibeon.

Et Johanan, fils de Carée, et tous les chefs des troupes qui étaient avec lui, prirent tout le reste du peuple qu'Ismaël, fils de Nathanias, avait emmené de Maspha, après avoir tué Godolias, fils d'Ahicam, hommes de guerre, femmes, enfants et eunuques, et ils les ramenèrent de Gabaon.

17 And they went and they remained at Geruth (Kimham *Q(K)*) which [is] beside Beth-lehem to go to go Egypt.

Ils allèrent et s'arrêtèrent au caravansérail de Chamaam, près de Bethléem, pour se retirer ensuite en Egypte,

18 From before the Chaldeans for they were afraid of them for he had struck down Ishmael [the] son of Nethaniah Gedaliah [the] son of Ahikam whom he had appointed [the] king of Babylon over the land.

loin des Chaldéens qu'ils craignaient, parce qu'Ismaël, fils de Nathanias, avait tué Godolias, fils d'Ahicam, que le roi de Babylone avait établi gouverneur du pays.
