< Jeremiah 37 >
1 And he reigned king Zedekiah [the] son of Josiah in place of Coniah [the] son of Jehoiakim whom he made king Nebuchadnezzar [the] king of Babylon in [the] land of Judah.
Pea naʻe pule ʻae tuʻi ko Setikia ko e foha ʻo Siosaia ko e fetongi ʻo Konaia ko e foha ʻo Sihoiakimi, ʻaia naʻe fakanofo ko e tuʻi ʻi he fonua ʻo Siuta, ʻe Nepukanesa ko e tuʻi ʻo Papilone.
2 And not he listened he and servants his and [the] people of the land to [the] words of Yahweh which he spoke by [the] hand of Jeremiah the prophet.
Ka naʻe ʻikai te ne fanongo ʻe ia, pe ko ʻene kau tamaioʻeiki, pe ko e kakai ʻoe fonua ki he ngaahi folofola ʻa Sihova, ʻaia naʻa ne folofolaʻaki ʻi he palōfita ko Selemaia.
3 And he sent the king Zedekiah Jehucal [the] son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah [the] son of Maaseiah the priest to Jeremiah the prophet saying pray please for us to Yahweh God our.
Pea naʻe fekau ʻe Setikia ko e tuʻi ʻa Sehukali, ko e foha ʻo Selemaia, pea mo Sefania ko e foha ʻo Māseia ko e taulaʻeiki, ki he palōfita ko Selemaia, ʻo pehē, “Hūfia ni ʻakimautolu kia Sihova ko hotau ʻOtua,”
4 And Jeremiah [was] coming and [was] going out in among the people and not they had put him [the] house of (imprisonment. *Q(K)*)
He naʻe kei feʻaluʻaki pe ʻa Selemaia ʻi he kakai: he naʻe teʻeki ai tuku ia ki he fale fakapōpula.
5 And [the] army of Pharaoh it had come forth from Egypt and they had heard the Chaldeans who were laying siege on Jerusalem report their and they had taken themselves up from on Jerusalem.
6 And it came [the] word of Yahweh to Jeremiah the prophet saying.
Pea naʻe toki hoko ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova ki he palōfita ko Selemaia, ʻo pehē,
7 Thus he says Yahweh [the] God of Israel thus you will say to [the] king of Judah who sent you to me to consult me there! - [the] army of Pharaoh which was coming out to you to help [is] about to return to own land its Egypt.
“ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli; ‘Te ke lea ʻo pehē ki he tuʻi ʻo Siuta, ʻaia naʻe fekau koe kiate au ke ʻeke kiate au; “Vakai, ko e kau tau ʻa Felo ʻaia kuo haʻu ko e tokoni kiate kimoutolu, te nau toe ʻalu ki ʻIsipite ko honau fonua.
8 And they will return the Chaldeans and they will fight on the city this and they will capture it and they will burn it with fire.
Pea ʻe toe haʻu ʻae kau Kalitia ʻo tau mo e kolo ni, pea ʻe lavaʻi ia, pea tutu ʻaki ia ʻae afi.”’
9 Thus - he says Yahweh may not you deceive selves your saying certainly they will go from on us the Chaldeans for not they will go.
“ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova; ‘ʻOua naʻa kākaaʻi ʻakimoutolu, ʻo pehē, Ko e moʻoni ʻe ʻalu ʻiate kitautolu ʻae kau Kalitia; koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai te nau ʻalu.
10 That except you struck down all [the] army of [the] Chaldeans who are fighting with you and they survived among them men pierced through everyone in tent his they will arise and they will burn the city this with fire.
Kapau naʻa mou taaʻi ʻae kautau kotoa pē ʻae kau Kalitia ʻaia naʻe tauʻi ʻakimoutolu, kae toe pe ʻae kau tangata kafo ʻiate kinautolu, ka te nau tuʻu hake ʻae tangata taki taha mei hono fale fehikitaki, pea tutu ʻaki ʻae afi ʻae kolo ni.”
11 And it was when had taken itself up [the] army of the Chaldeans from on Jerusalem because of [the] army of Pharaoh.
Pea naʻe hoko ʻo pehē, ʻi he mahuʻi ʻae tau ʻae kau Kalitia mei Selūsalema ko e manavahē ki he kau tau ʻa Felo,
12 And he went out Jeremiah from Jerusalem to go [the] land of Benjamin to receive a portion from there in among the people.
Naʻe ʻalu atu ʻa Selemaia ke mahuʻi mei Selūsalema ki he fonua ʻo Penisimani, ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoe kakai ʻi ai.
13 And it was he [was] at [the] gate of Benjamin and [was] there a captain of [the] guard and name his [was] Irijah [the] son of Shelemiah [the] son of Hananiah and he arrested Jeremiah the prophet saying to the Chaldeans you [are] falling.
Pea ʻi heʻene ʻi he matapā ʻo Penisimani, naʻe ʻi ai ʻae ʻeiki ʻae fale fakapōpula, ko hono hingoa ko ʻIlisa, ko e foha ʻo Selemaia, ko e foha ʻo Hanania; pea naʻa ne puke ʻa Selemaia ko e palōfita, ʻo ne pehē, “ʻOku ke hola ki he kau Kalitia.”
14 And he said Jeremiah a lie not I [am] falling on the Chaldeans and not he listened to him and he seized Irijah Jeremiah and he brought him to the officials.
15 And they were angry the officials towards Jeremiah and they struck him and they put him [the] house of fetter[s] [the] house of Jonathan the scribe for it they had made into [the] house of imprisonment.
Pea naʻe ʻita ʻae houʻeiki kia Selemaia, pea taaʻi ia, pea tuku ia ki he fale fakapōpula ʻi he fale ʻo Sonatapi ko e tangata tohi: he kuo nau ngaohi ia ko e fale fakapōpula.
16 For he went Jeremiah into [the] house of the cistern and into the cell and he remained there Jeremiah days many.
Pea kuo hū ʻa Selemaia ki he fale fakapoʻuli, pea mo hono ngaahi ʻana, pea nofo ai ʻa Selemaia ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho lahi;
17 And he sent the king Zedekiah and he took him and he asked him the king in house his in secrecy and he said ¿ [is] there a word from with Yahweh and he said Jeremiah there is and he said in [the] hand of [the] king of Babylon you will be given.
Pea naʻe toki fekau ʻe Setikia ko e tuʻi ke ʻomi ia mei ai: pea fehuʻi fakafufū ʻe he tuʻi kiate ia ʻi hono fale, ʻo pehē, “ʻOku ai ha folofola meia Sihova?” Pea pehē ʻe Selemaia, “ʻOku ai:” he naʻe pehē ʻe ia, “ʻE tukuange koe ki he nima ʻoe tuʻi ʻo Papilone.”
18 And he said Jeremiah to the king Zedekiah what? have I sinned to you and to servants your and to the people this that you have put me into [the] house of imprisonment.
Pea naʻe lea ʻa Selemaia, ki he tuʻi ko Setikia, “Ko e hā ʻeku kovi kuo u fai kiate koe, pe ki hoʻo kau tamaioʻeiki, pe ki hoʻo kakai, koeʻuhi kuo mou tuku ai au ki he fale fakapōpula?
19 (And where? *Q(K)*) [are] prophets your who they prophesied to you saying not he will come [the] king of Babylon on you and on the land this.
Ko e fē homou kau palōfita naʻe kikite kiate kimoutolu, ʻo pehē, ‘ʻE ʻikai tauʻi ʻakimoutolu, pe ko e fonua ni ʻe he tuʻi ʻo Papilone?’
20 And therefore listen please O lord my the king may it fall please supplication my before you and may not you make go back me [the] house of Jonathan the scribe and not I will die there.
Ka ko eni, fanongo mai, ʻOku ou kole kiate koe, ʻE hoku ʻeiki ko e tuʻi: ʻoku ou kole kiate koe, tuku ke lelei ʻeku kole ʻi ho ʻao; pea ʻoua naʻa pule ke toe ʻave au ki he fale ʻo Sonatapi ko e tangata tohi, telia naʻaku mate ai.”

Pea naʻe toki fekau ʻe Setikia ko e tuʻi ke ʻave ʻa Selemaia ki he lotoʻā ʻoe fale fakapōpula, pea ke nau foaki kiate ia ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē ʻae konga mā mei he hala ʻoe kau tangata taʻo mā, ʻo aʻu ki he fakaʻosi ʻae mā kotoa pē ʻi he kolo. Ko ia naʻe nofo ʻa Selemaia ki he lotoʻā ʻoe fale fakapōpula.
