Jeremiah 36
1 And it was in the year fourth of Jehoiakim [the] son of Josiah [the] king of Judah it came the word this to Jeremiah from with Yahweh saying.
Dans la quatrième année du règne de Joïakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, la parole que voici fut adressée à Jérémie de la part de l’Eternel:
2 Take for yourself a scroll of a document and you will write to it all the words which I have spoken to you on Israel and on Judah and on all the nations from [the] day [when] I spoke to you from [the] days of Josiah and until the day this.
"Prends un rouleau de parchemin et mets-y par écrit toutes les paroles que je t’ai adressées au sujet d’Israël, de Juda et de toutes les nations, depuis le jour où j’ai communiqué avec toi, à l’époque de Josias, jusqu’à ce jour.
3 Perhaps they will hear [the] house of Judah all the harm which I [am] planning to do to them so that they may turn back everyone from way his evil and I will forgive iniquity their and sin their.
Peut-être les gens de Juda tiendront-ils compte de tous les maux que j’ai dessein de leur infliger, pour qu’ils abandonnent leur voie pernicieuse et que je puisse pardonner leur iniquité et leurs fautes."
4 And he called Jeremiah Baruch [the] son of Neriah and he wrote Baruch from [the] mouth of Jeremiah all [the] words of Yahweh which he had spoken to him on a scroll of a document.
Jérémie fit venir Baruch, fils de Néria, et celui-ci, sous la dictée de Jérémie, écrivit sur un rouleau de parchemin toutes les paroles que Dieu lui avait adressées.
5 And he commanded Jeremiah Baruch saying I [am] shut up not I am able to go [the] house of Yahweh.
Puis Jérémie fit à Baruch la recommandation suivante: "Je suis retenu en prison et ne puis me rendre dans la maison de l’Eternel.
6 And you will go you and you will read aloud in the scroll which you have written from mouth my [the] words of Yahweh in [the] ears of the people [the] house of Yahweh on a day of fasting and also in [the] ears of all Judah who are coming from cities their you will read aloud them.
Tu iras donc, toi, et, dans ce rouleau que tu as écrit sous ma dictée, tu liras les paroles de l’Eternel en présence du peuple, réuni dans la maison de l’Eternel à l’occasion d’un jour de jeûne. Tu les liras aussi en présence de tous les Judéens qui sont arrivés de leurs villes.
7 Perhaps it will fall supplication their before Yahweh so they may turn back everyone from way his evil for [is] great the anger and the rage which he has spoken Yahweh against the people this.
Peut-être leurs supplications se répandront-elles devant l’Eternel, et chacun d’eux abandonnera-t-il sa voie pernicieuse; car grandes sont la colère et l’indignation dont l’Eternel a menacé ce peuple."
8 And he did Baruch [the] son of Neriah according to all that he had commanded him Jeremiah the prophet to read aloud in the scroll [the] words of Yahweh [the] house of Yahweh.
Baruch, fils de Néria, se conforma fidèlement aux instructions de Jérémie, le prophète, en lisant au Temple les paroles de l’Eternel, consignées sur le livre.
9 And it was in the year fifth of Jehoiakim [the] son of Josiah [the] king of Judah in the month ninth they proclaimed a fast before Yahweh all the people in Jerusalem and all the people who were coming from [the] cities of Judah in Jerusalem.
Dans la cinquième année du règne de Joïakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, au cours du neuvième mois, on convoqua pour un jeûne devant l’Eternel tous les habitants de Jérusalem et toute la population qui, des villes de Juda, s’était rendue à Jérusalem.
10 And he read aloud Baruch in the scroll [the] words of Jeremiah [the] house of Yahweh in [the] room of Gemariah [the] son of Shaphan the scribe in the court upper [the] entrance of [the] gate of [the] house of Yahweh new in [the] ears of all the people.
Baruch lut alors, d’après son rouleau, les paroles de Jérémie, au Temple de l’Eternel, dans la salle de Ghemaria, fils du secrétaire Chafan, située dans la Cour supérieure, à l’entrée de la porte neuve du Temple. C’Était en présence de tout le peuple.
11 And he heard Micaiah [the] son of Gemariah [the] son of Shaphan all [the] words of Yahweh from on the scroll.
Or, Mikhaïhou, fils de Ghemaria, fils de Chafan, ayant entendu toutes les paroles de l’Eternel, consignées sur le livre,
12 And he went down [the] house of the king to [the] room of the scribe and there! there all the officials [were] sitting Elishama the scribe and Delaiah [the] son of Shemaiah and Elnathan [the] son of Achbor and Gemariah [the] son of Shaphan and Zedekiah [the] son of Hananiah and all the officials.
descendit au palais du roi, dans la salle du secrétaire, où se trouvaient réunis tous les hauts fonctionnaires: Elichama, le secrétaire, Delaïa, fils de Chemaya, Elnathan, fils d’Akhbor, Ghemaria, fils de Chafan, Sédécias, fils de Hanania, et tous les seigneurs.
13 And he told to them Micaiah all the words which he had heard when read aloud Baruch in the scroll in [the] ears of the people.
Mikhaïhou leur rapporta toutes les paroles qu’il avait entendues, lorsque Baruch avait fait la lecture du livre en présence du peuple.
14 And they sent all the officials to Baruch Jehudi [the] son of Nethaniah [the] son of Shelemiah [the] son of Cushi saying the scroll which you have read aloud in it in [the] ears of the people take it in hand your and come and he took Baruch [the] son of Neriah the scroll in hand his and he went to them.
Tous ces seigneurs dépêchèrent alors à Baruch lehoudi„ fils de Netania, fils de Chélémia, fils de Couchi, pour lui dire: "Ce rouleau que tu as lu à haute voix devant le peuple, emporte-le avec toi et viens." Baruch, fils de Néria, prit le rouleau dans sa main et se rendit auprès d’eux.
15 And they said to him sit please and read aloud it in ears our and he read [it] aloud Baruch in ears their.
Ils lui dirent: "Prends donc place, et fais-nous-en la lecture." Et Baruch le, lut devant eux.
16 And it was when heard they all the words they were in dread each to neighbor his and they said to Baruch certainly we will tell to the king all the things these.
Lorsqu’ils entendirent toutes ces paroles, ils se regardèrent avec effroi les uns! es autres et dirent à Baruch: "Il faut que nous rapportions au roi toutes ces paroles!"
17 And Baruch they asked saying tell please to us how? did you write all the words these from mouth his.
Et ils interrogèrent Baruch en ces termes: "Dis-nous donc de quelle façon tu as écrit ces paroles sous sa dictée?"
18 And he said to them Baruch from mouth his he proclaimed to me all the words these and I [was] writing on the scroll with ink.
Baruch leur répondit: "Il me dictait de vive voix toutes ces paroles, et moi je les transcrivais avec de l’encre sur le livre."
19 And they said the officials to Baruch go hide yourself you and Jeremiah and anyone may not he know where? [are] you.
Les seigneurs dirent à Baruch: "Va te mettre en sûreté, toi ainsi que Jérémie; que personne ne sache où vous êtes!"
20 And they went to the king [the] court towards and the scroll they had deposited in [the] room of Elishama the scribe and they told in [the] ears of the king all the things.
Puis ils se rendirent à la Cour auprès du roi, après avoir déposé le rouleau dans la salle d’Elichama, le secrétaire, et ils racontèrent au roi tous ces faits.
21 And he sent the king Jehudi to fetch the scroll and he fetched it from [the] room of Elishama the scribe and he read aloud it Jehudi in [the] ears of the king and in [the] ears of all the officials who were standing from with the king.
Le roi envoya chercher le rouleau par lehoudi, qui le retira de la salle d’Elichama, le secrétaire. Et lehoudi en donna lecture en présence du roi et en présence de tous les grands qui se tenaient debout devant le roi.
22 And the king [was] sitting [the] house of the winter in the month ninth and the fire-pot before him [was] kindled.
Or, le roi était assis dans son appartement d’hiver (on était au neuvième mois), et devant lui il y avait un brasier allumé.
23 And it was - when read aloud Jehudi three doors and four he tore it with [the] knife of the scribe and he threw [it] into the fire which [was] to the fire-pot until was consumed all the scroll on the fire which [was] on the fire-pot.
A mesure que lehoudi achevait de lire trois ou quatre colonnes, le roi les détachait avec un canif de scribe et les jetait au feu dans le brasier, jusqu’à ce que tout le rouleau eût été ainsi consumé par le feu du brasier.
24 And not they were afraid and not they tore clothes their the king and all servants his who heard all the words these.
Le roi et ses officiers qui avaient entendu toutes ces paroles n’en avaient éprouvé aucune crainte ni n’avaient déchiré leurs vêtements.
25 And also Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah they had made entreaty with the king to not to burn the scroll and not he listened to them.
Elnathan, Delaïa et Ghemaria avaient bien supplié le roi de ne pas brûler le rouleau, mais il ne les avait point écoutés.
26 And he commanded the king Jerahmeel [the] son of the king and Seraiah [the] son of Azriel and Shelemiah [the] son of Abdeel to seize Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet and he hid them Yahweh.
Le roi ordonna même à lerahmeêl, prince royal, à Seraïa, fils d’Azriel, et Chélémia, fils d’Abdiel, de se saisir de Baruch, le secrétaire, et de Jérémie, le prophète, mais l’Eternel les tint cachés.
27 And it came [the] word of Yahweh to Jeremiah after - burned the king the scroll and the words which he had written Baruch from [the] mouth of Jeremiah saying.
La parole de l’Eternel fut adressée à Jérémie, après que le roi eut brûlé le rouleau et les discours qu’y avait écrits Baruch sous la dictée de Jérémie.
28 Return take for yourself a scroll another and write on it all the words former which they were on the scroll former which he burned Jehoiakim [the] king of Judah.
"Va, dit-il, prendre derechef un autre rouleau, et inscris-y toutes les paroles primitives qui figuraient sur le premier rouleau, brûlé par Joïakim, roi de Juda.
29 And to Jehoiakim [the] king of Judah (you will say *LA(bh)*) thus he says Yahweh you you burned the scroll this saying why? did you write on it saying certainly he will come [the] king of Babylon and he will destroy the land this and he will cause to cease from it human being and animal.
Et à propos de Joïakim, roi de Juda, tu diras: "Ainsi parle l’Eternel: Tu as jeté au feu ce rouleau en t’écriant: Pourquoi y as-tu inscrit ces mots: "A coup sûr, il viendra le roi de Babylone, il ruinera ce pays et en fera disparaître hommes et bêtes"?
30 Therefore thus he says Yahweh on Jehoiakim [the] king of Judah not he will belong to him [one who] sits on [the] throne of David and corpse his it will be thrown out to the heat in the day and to the frost in the night.
Eh bien! voici ce que décrète l’Eternel au sujet de Joïakim, roi de Juda: "Il n’aura point d’héritier siégeant sur le trône de David, et son cadavre se trouvera exposé à la chaleur du jour et au froid de la nuit.
31 And I will visit on him and on offspring his and on servants his iniquity their and I will bring on them and on [the] inhabitants of Jerusalem and to everyone of Judah all the calamity which I have spoken against them and not they listened.
Je le châtierai, lui, sa race, ses officiers, pour leurs crimes, et je ferai fondre sur eux, sur les habitants de Jérusalem et les gens de Juda toutes les calamités que je leur ai annoncées, sans qu’ils voulussent écouter."
32 And Jeremiah he took - a scroll another and he gave it to Baruch [the] son of Neriah the scribe and he wrote on it from [the] mouth of Jeremiah all [the] words of the scroll which he had burned Jehoiakim [the] king of Judah in the fire and again it was added to them words many like them.
Jérémie se munit donc d’un autre rouleau, qu’il remit à Baruch, fils de Néria, le secrétaire. Celui-ci écrivit, sous la dictée de Jérémie, toutes les paroles. inscrites dans le livre qu’avait livré au feu Joïakim, roi de Juda. Beaucoup d’autres paroles de même nature y furent encore ajoutées.
