< Jeremiah 18 >
1 The word which it came to Jeremiah from with Yahweh saying.
The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,
2 Arise and you will go down [the] house of the potter and there I will cause to hear you words my.
“Arise and go out to the potter's house, for I will have you hear my word there.”
3 And I went down [the] house of the potter (and there! he *Q(K)*) [was] doing work on the stones.
So I went out to the potter's house, and behold! The potter was working on the potter's wheel.
4 And it was spoiled the vessel which he [was] making with the clay in [the] hand of the potter and he would return and he made it a vessel another just as it was pleasing in [the] eyes of the potter to do.
But the object of clay that he was molding was ruined in his hand, so he changed his mind and made another object that seemed good in his eyes to do.
5 And it came [the] word of Yahweh to me saying.
Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
6 ¿ Like the potter this not am I able to do to you O house of Israel [the] utterance of Yahweh here! like the clay in [the] hand of the potter so you [are] in hand my O house of Israel.
“Should I not be able to act like this potter with you, house of Israel?—this is Yahweh's declaration. Behold! Like clay in a potter's hand—that is how you are in my hand, house of Israel.
7 A moment I will speak on a nation and on a kingdom to pluck up and to pull down and to destroy.
At one moment, I may proclaim something about a nation or a kingdom, that I will drive it out, tear it down, or destroy it.
8 And it will turn away the nation that from evil its which I had spoken on it and I will relent on the calamity which I had planned to do to it.
But if the nation about which I have made that proclamation turns from its evil, then I will relent from the disaster that I was planning to bring upon it.
9 And a moment I will speak on a nation and on a kingdom to build up and to plant.
At another moment, I may proclaim something about a nation or a kingdom, that I will build it up or plant it.
10 And it will do (the evil *Q(K)*) in view my to not to listen to voice my and I will relent on the good which I had said to do good to it.
But if it does evil in my eyes by not listening to my voice, then I will stop the good that I had said I would do for them.
11 And therefore say please to everyone of Judah and to [the] inhabitants of Jerusalem saying thus he says Yahweh here! I [am] about to fashion on you calamity and [am] about to plan on you a plan turn back please everyone from way his wicked and make good ways your and deeds your.
So now, speak to the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and say, 'Yahweh says this: See, I am about to form disaster against you. I am about to devise a plan against you. Repent, each person from his wicked way, so your ways and your practices will bring good to you.'
12 And they say despairing for after own plans our we will walk and everyone [the] stubbornness of heart his wicked we will act.
But they will say, 'This is no use. We will act according to our own plans. Each one of us will do what his evil, stubborn heart desires.'
13 Therefore thus he says Yahweh ask please among the nations who? has he heard like these [things] a horrible [thing] she has done exceedingly [the] virgin of Israel.
Therefore Yahweh says this, 'Ask the nations, who has ever heard of such a thing as this? The virgin Israel has committed a horrible act.
14 ¿ Does it leave from [the] rock of [the] field [the] snow of Lebanon or? are they plucked up waters strange cool flowing.
Does the snow in Lebanon ever leave the rocky hills on its sides? Are the mountain streams coming from far away ever destroyed, those cold streams?
15 For they have forgotten me people my to falsehood they make smoke and they have caused to stumble them in ways their paths of antiquity to walk paths a way not built up.
Yet my people have forgotten me. They have made offerings to useless idols and been made to stumble in their paths; they have left the ancient paths to walk lesser paths.
16 To make land their into a waste (whistling of *Q(K)*) perpetuity every [one who] passes by at it he will be appalled and he may wag with head his.
Their land will become a horror, an object of everlasting hissing. Everyone who passes by her will shudder and shake his head.
17 Like a wind of [the] east I will scatter them before an enemy back and not face I will show them on [the] day of disaster their.
I will scatter them before their enemies like an eastern wind. I will show them my back, and not my face, on the day of their disaster.'”
18 And people said come so let us plan on Jeremiah plans for not it will be lost instruction from [the] priest and counsel from [the] wise and word from [the] prophet come and let us attack him with the tongue and may not we pay attention to all words his.
So the people said, “Come, let us make plots against Jeremiah, since the law will never perish from the priests, or advice from the wise men, or words from the prophets. Come, let us attack him with our words and no longer pay attention to anything he proclaims.”
19 Be attentive! O Yahweh to me and listen to [the] voice of opponents my.
Pay attention to me, Yahweh, and listen to the voice of my enemies.
20 ¿ Will it be repaid in place of good evil for they have dug a pit for self my remember - standing my before you to speak on them good to turn back rage your from them.
Will disaster from them really be my reward for being good to them? For they have dug a pit for me. Remember how I stood before you to speak for their welfare, to cause your fury to turn away from them.
21 Therefore give children their to famine and pour them over [the] hands of [the] sword so they may become wives their childless and widows and men their may they be [the] slain of death young men their [those] struck down of [the] sword in battle.
Therefore give their children over to famine, and give them to the hands of those who use the sword. So let their women become bereaved and widows, and their men be killed, and their young men killed by the sword in battle.
22 May it be heard a cry of distress from houses their if you will bring on them a marauding band suddenly for they have dug (a pit *Q(K)*) to capture me and snares they have hidden for feet my.
Let a distressed shout be heard from their houses, as you suddenly bring raiders against them. For they have dug a pit to capture me and have hidden traps for my feet.
23 And you O Yahweh you know all plan their on me for death may not you atone on iniquity their and sin their from to before you may not you wipe out (and let them be *Q(K)*) overthrown before you in [the] time of anger your do with them.
But you, Yahweh, you know all of their plans against me to kill me. Do not forgive their iniquities and sins. Do not wipe their sins away from you. Instead, let them be overthrown before you. Act against them in the time of your wrath.
