< Isaiah 8 >

1 And he said Yahweh to me take yourself a tablet large and write on it with a stylus of a person Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz.
And the Lord seide to me, Take to thee a greet book, and write ther ynne with the poyntil of man, Swiftli drawe thou awei spuylis, take thou prey soone.
2 And I will call as witness for myself witnesses reliable Uriah the priest and Zechariah [the] son of Jeberekiah.
And Y yaf to me faithful witnessis, Vrie, the prest, and Sacarie, the sone of Barachie.
3 And I drew near to the prophetess and she conceived and she bore a son and he said Yahweh to me call name his Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz.
And Y neiyede to the profetesse; and sche conseyuede, and childide a sone. And the Lord seide to me, Clepe thou his name Haste thou to drawe awei spuylis, haaste thou for to take prey.
4 For before he will know the lad to call out O father my and O mother my someone will carry off - [the] wealth of Damascus and [the] plunder of Samaria before [the] king of Assyria.
For whi bifor that the child kan clepe his fadir and his modir, the strengthe of Damask schal be doon awei, and the spuylis of Samarie, bifor the kyng of Assiriens.
5 And he repeated Yahweh to speak to me again saying.
And the Lord addide to speke yit to me, and he seide,
6 Because for it has rejected the people this [the] waters of Shiloah which go to gentleness and rejoicing with Rezin and [the] son of Remaliah.
For that thing that this puple hath caste awei the watris of Siloe, that goen with silence, and hath take more Rasyn, and the sone of Romelie, for this thing lo!
7 And therefore there! [the] Lord [is] about to bring up on them [the] waters of the River mighty and many [the] king of Assyria and all glory his and it will rise over all channels its and it will go over all banks its.
the Lord schal brynge on hem the stronge and many watris of the flood, the king of Assiriens, and al his glorie; and he schal stiye on alle the stremes therof, and he schal flowe on alle the ryueris therof.
8 And it will pass on in Judah it will overflow and it will pass over to [the] neck it will reach and it will be [the] spreading of wings its [the] fullness of [the] breadth of land your O Immanu-el.
And he schal go flowynge bi Juda, and he schal passe til to the necke, and schal come; and the spredyng forth of hise wyngis schal be, and schal fille the breede of thi lond, thou Emanuel.
9 Be bad O peoples and be shattered and give ear O all [the] distant places of [the] earth gird yourselves and be shattered gird yourselves and be shattered.
Puplis, be ye gaderid togidere, and be ye ouercomun; and alle londis afer, here ye. Be ye coumfortid, and be ye ouercomun; gird ye you, and be ye ouercomun;
10 Plan a plan so it may be frustrated speak a word and not it will stand for [is] with us God.
take ye councel, and it schal be destried; speke ye a word, and it schal not be doon, for God is with vs.
11 For thus he said Yahweh to me according to [the] strength of the hand and he will instruct me from walking in [the] way of the people this saying.
For whi the Lord seith these thingis to me, as he tauyte me in a stronge hond, that Y schulde not go in to the weie of this puple,
12 Not you must say! conspiracy of all that it is saying the people this conspiracy and fear its not you must fear and not you must regard with awe.
and seide, Seie ye not, It is sweryng togidere, for whi alle thingis which this puple spekith is sweryng togidere; and drede ye not the ferdfulnesse therof, nether be ye aferd.
13 Yahweh of hosts him you will regard as holy and he [will be] fear your and he [the] [one whom] regard with awe you.
Halowe ye the Lord hym silf of oostis; and he schal be youre inward drede, and he schal be youre ferdfulnesse, and he schal be to you in to halewyng.
14 And he will become a sanctuary and a stone of striking and a rock of stumbling for [the] two [the] houses of Israel a trap and a snare for [the] inhabitant[s] of Jerusalem.
Forsothe he schal be in to a stoon of hirtyng, and in to a stoon of sclaundre, to tweyne housis of Israel; in to a snare, and in to fallyng, to hem that dwellen in Jerusalem.
15 And they will stumble over them many [people] and they will fall and they will be broken and they will be ensnared and they will be captured.
And ful many of hem schulen offende, and schulen falle, and thei schulen be al to-brokun, and thei schulen be boundun, and schulen be takun.
16 Bind up [the] testimony seal up [the] instruction among disciples my.
Bynde thou witnessyng, mark thou the lawe in my disciplis.
17 And I will wait for Yahweh who is hiding face his from [the] house of Jacob and I will wait eagerly for him.
Y schal abide the Lord, that hath hid his face fro the hous of Jacob, and Y schal abide hym.
18 Here! I and the children whom he has given to me Yahweh for signs and for portents in Israel from with Yahweh of hosts who dwells on [the] mountain of Zion.
Lo! Y and my children, whiche the Lord yaf to me in to a signe, and greet wondur to Israel, of the Lord of oostis that dwellith in the hil of Sion.
19 And if they will say to you consult the necromancers and the soothsayers who whisper and who mutter ¿ not a people God its will it consult for the living the dead.
And whanne thei seien to you, Axe ye of coniureris, and of false dyuynouris, that gnasten in her enchauntyngis, whether the puple schal not axe of her God a reuelacioun for quyke men and deed?
20 To [the] instruction and to [the] testimony if not they will speak according to the manner this that not [belongs] to it dawn.
It is to go to the lawe more and to the witnessyng, that if thei seien not after this word, morewtide liyt schal not be to hem.
21 And it will pass in it hard pressed and hungry and it will be that it will be hungry and it will be enraged and it will curse king its and God its and it will turn upwards.
And it schal passe bi that, and it schal falle doun, and it schal hungre. And whanne it schal hungre, it schal be wrooth, and schal curse his kyng and his God, and it schal biholde vpward.
22 And to [the] earth it will look and there! trouble and darkness gloom of distress and gloom [it is] thrust out.
And it schal loke to the erthe, and lo! tribulacioun, and derknessis, and vnbyndyng, ether discoumfort, and angwisch, and myist pursuynge; and it schal not mow fle awei fro his angwisch.
