Isaiah 41
1 Be silent to me O islands and peoples let them renew strength let them approach then let them speak together for judgment let us draw near.
Iles, faites silence pour m’écouter! Que les peuples raniment leur force, Qu’ils avancent, et qu’ils parlent! Approchons pour plaider ensemble.
2 Who? has he stirred up from [the] east righteousness he calls him to foot his he delivers up before him nations and kings he subdues he makes [them] like dust sword his like chaff driven about bow his.
Qui a suscité de l’orient Celui que le salut appelle à sa suite? Qui lui a livré les nations et assujetti des rois? Qui a réduit leur glaive en poussière, Et leur arc en un chaume qui s’envole?
3 He pursues them he passes on peace a path with feet his not he comes.
Il s’est mis à leur poursuite, il a parcouru avec bonheur Un chemin que son pied n’avait jamais foulé.
4 Who? has he done [it] and has he accomplished [it]? calling forth the generations from [the] beginning I Yahweh [am] first and with [the] last I [am] he.
Qui a fait et exécuté ces choses? C’est celui qui a appelé les générations dès le commencement, Moi, l’Éternel, le premier Et le même jusqu’aux derniers âges.
5 They have seen islands so they may be afraid [the] ends of the earth they tremble they have drawn near and they have come!
Les îles le voient, et sont dans la crainte, Les extrémités de la terre tremblent: Ils s’approchent, ils viennent.
6 Each neighbor his they help and to brother his he says be strong.
Ils s’aident l’un l’autre, Et chacun dit à son frère: Courage!
7 And he encouraged a craftsman a metalsmith a smoother of a hammer a striker of an anvil saying of the soldering [is] good it and he strengthened it with nails not it will be shaken.
Le sculpteur encourage le fondeur; Celui qui polit au marteau encourage celui qui frappe sur l’enclume; Il dit de la soudure: Elle est bonne! Et il fixe l’idole avec des clous, pour qu’elle ne branle pas.
8 And you O Israel servant my Jacob whom I have chosen you [the] offspring of Abraham friend my.
Mais toi, Israël, mon serviteur, Jacob, que j’ai choisi, Race d’Abraham que j’ai aimé!
9 Whom I took hold of you from [the] ends of the earth and from remotest parts its I called you and I said to you [are] servant my you I have chosen you and not I have rejected you.
Toi, que j’ai pris aux extrémités de la terre, Et que j’ai appelé d’une contrée lointaine, A qui j’ai dit: Tu es mon serviteur, Je te choisis, et ne te rejette point!
10 May not you be afraid for [am] with you I may not you fear for I [am] God your I have strengthened you also I have helped you also I have supported you with [the] right [hand] of righteousness my.
Ne crains rien, car je suis avec toi; Ne promène pas des regards inquiets, car je suis ton Dieu; Je te fortifie, je viens à ton secours, Je te soutiens de ma droite triomphante.
11 There! they will be ashamed and they may be put to shame all those [who] are angry with you they will be as nothing so they may perish [the] people of strife your.
Voici, ils seront confondus, ils seront couverts de honte, Tous ceux qui sont irrités contre toi; Ils seront réduits à rien, ils périront, Ceux qui disputent contre toi.
12 You will seek them and not you will find them [the] people of strife your they will be as nothing and as nothing [the] people of warfare your.
Tu les chercheras, et ne les trouveras plus, Ceux qui te suscitaient querelle; Ils seront réduits à rien, réduits au néant, Ceux qui te faisaient la guerre.
13 For I [am] Yahweh God your [who] takes hold of right [hand] your who says to you may not you be afraid I I will help you.
Car je suis l’Éternel, ton Dieu, Qui fortifie ta droite, Qui te dis: Ne crains rien, Je viens à ton secours.
14 May not you be afraid O worm of Jacob O men of Israel I I will help you [the] utterance of Yahweh and [is] redeemer your [the] holy [one] of Israel.
Ne crains rien, vermisseau de Jacob, Faible reste d’Israël; Je viens à ton secours, dit l’Éternel, Et le Saint d’Israël est ton sauveur.
15 Here! I will make you a threshing-sledge sharp new an owner of teeth you will thresh mountains so you may crush [them] and hills like chaff you will make.
Voici, je fais de toi un traîneau aigu, tout neuf, Garni de pointes; Tu écraseras, tu broieras les montagnes, Et tu rendras les collines semblables à de la balle.
16 You will winnow them and a wind it will carry away them and a tempest it will scatter them and you you will be glad in Yahweh in [the] holy [one] of Israel you will boast.
Tu les vanneras, et le vent les emportera, Et un tourbillon les dispersera. Mais toi, tu te réjouiras en l’Éternel, Tu mettras ta gloire dans le Saint d’Israël.
17 The poor [people] and the needy [people] [are] seeking water and there not tongue their with thirst it is dry I Yahweh I will answer them [the] God of Israel not I will forsake them.
Les malheureux et les indigents cherchent de l’eau, et il n’y en a point; Leur langue est desséchée par la soif. Moi, l’Éternel, je les exaucerai; Moi, le Dieu d’Israël, je ne les abandonnerai pas.
18 I will open on bare heights rivers and in [the] middle of valleys springs I will make [the] wilderness a pool of water and a land dry springs of water.
Je ferai jaillir des fleuves sur les collines, Et des sources au milieu des vallées; Je changerai le désert en étang, Et la terre aride en courants d’eau;
19 I will put in the wilderness cedar[s] acacia tree[s] and myrtle tree[s] and tree[s] of oil I will set in the desert plain cypress[es] elm[s] and box tree[s] together.
Je mettrai dans le désert le cèdre, l’acacia, Le myrte et l’olivier; Je mettrai dans les lieux stériles Le cyprès, l’orme et le buis, tous ensemble;
20 So that they may see so they may know so they may set so they may have insight all together that [the] hand of Yahweh it has done this and [the] holy [one] of Israel he has created it.
Afin qu’ils voient, qu’ils sachent, Qu’ils observent et considèrent Que la main de l’Éternel a fait ces choses, Que le Saint d’Israël en est l’auteur.
21 Bring near case your he says Yahweh bring near arguments your he says [the] king of Jacob.
Plaidez votre cause, Dit l’Éternel; Produisez vos moyens de défense, Dit le roi de Jacob.
22 Let them bring [them] near and they may tell to us [the things] which they will happen the former [things] - what? [were] they tell so let us take [them] heart our so we may know end their or the coming [things] proclaim to us.
Qu’ils les produisent, et qu’ils nous déclarent Ce qui doit arriver. Quelles sont les prédictions que jadis vous avez faites? Dites-le, pour que nous y prenions garde, Et que nous en reconnaissions l’accomplissement; Ou bien, annoncez-nous l’avenir.
23 Tell the [things] coming to afterwards so let us know that [are] gods you also you will do good and you may do harm and let us fear (so let us see *Q(K)*) altogether.
Dites ce qui arrivera plus tard, Pour que nous sachions si vous êtes des dieux; Faites seulement quelque chose de bien ou de mal, Pour que nous le voyions et le regardions ensemble.
24 Here! you [are] from nothing and work your [is] from something worthless [is] an abomination [one who] he chooses you.
Voici, vous n’êtes rien, Et votre œuvre est le néant; C’est une abomination que de se complaire en vous.
25 I have stirred up from [the] north and he has come from [the] rising of [the] sun he will call on name my so he may come officials like mud and like a potter [who] he tramples clay.
Je l’ai suscité du septentrion, et il est venu; De l’orient, il invoque mon nom; Il foule les puissants comme de la boue, Comme de l’argile que foule un potier.
26 Who? did he tell [it] from [the] beginning so we may know and from before so we may say correct also there not [was one who] told also there not [was one who] proclaimed also there not [was one who] heard words your.
Qui l’a annoncé dès le commencement, pour que nous le sachions, Et longtemps d’avance, pour que nous disions: C’est vrai? Nul ne l’a annoncé, nul ne l’a prédit, Et personne n’a entendu vos paroles.
27 A first [one] to Zion here! here [are] they and to Jerusalem a bearer of news I gave.
C’est moi le premier qui ai dit à Sion: Les voici, les voici! Et à Jérusalem: J’envoie un messager de bonnes nouvelles!
28 And [when] I may look and there not [is] a person and from these and there not [is] a counselor and I will ask them and they may bring back a word.
Je regarde, et il n’y a personne, Personne parmi eux qui prophétise, Et qui puisse répondre, si je l’interroge.
29 There! all of them [are] deception [are] nothing deeds their [are] a wind and emptiness molten images their.
Voici, ils ne sont tous que vanité, Leurs œuvres ne sont que néant, Leurs idoles ne sont qu’un vain souffle.
