Hebrews 4
1 We may fear therefore otherwise otherwise while is left remaining [the] promise to enter into the rest of Him, may seem any of you to have fallen short.
We moeten er dus wèl bevreesd voor zijn, dat iemand van u bevonden wordt achter te blijven, terwijl de belofte nog voortduurt, om zijn Rust binnen te gaan.
2 And for we are evangelised just as also they [were]; also they [were]; but not did profit the message of [their] hearing them not (united with *N(k)O*) the faith of those having heard.
Immers ook wij hebben de belofte ontvangen, juist zoals zij. Maar hùn heeft het woord, dat ze hoorden, niet gebaat, omdat het horen niet gepaard ging met geloof;
3 We enter for into the rest those having believed even as He has said: So I swore in the wrath of mine; Not will they enter into the rest of Mine; and yet and yet the works from [the] foundation of [the] world have been finished.
want we gaan slechts binnen in de Rust, indien we geloven; zoals Hij heeft gezegd: "Daarom zwoer Ik in mijn toorn: neen, ze zullen niet ingaan in mijn Rust." —Inderdaad, toen door de schepping der wereld de werken voltooid waren,
4 He has spoken for somewhere concerning the seventh [day] in this way; And rested God on the day seventh from all the works of Him.
heeft Hij over de zevende dag ergens aldus gesproken: "En God Rustte op de zevende dag van al zijn werken;"
5 And in this [passage] again; [Not] will they enter into the rest of Mine.
en hier weer: "Neen, ze zullen niet ingaan in mijn Rust."
6 Since therefore it remains [for] some to enter into it and those formerly having been evangelised not they did enter in because of disobedience,
Welnu, daar het zeker is, dat enigen althans Haar zullen binnengaan, terwijl zij, die het eerst de belofte ontvingen, door ongehoorzaamheid er niet zijn binnengegaan,
7 again a certain He appoints day: Today, through David saying: after so long a time, even as (it has been predicted, *N(K)O*) Today if the voice of Him you shall hear, not shall harden the hearts of you.
daarom stelt Hij opnieuw een dag vast: "Heden", en spreekt Hij zo lange tijd daarna door David, zoals reeds gezegd is: "Als gij heden mijn stem verneemt, verstokt uw harten niet."
8 If for to them Joshua gave rest, not then would about another was he speaking after this day;
Zo Josuë immers de rust had gebracht, dan zou Hij niet van een andere dag spreken, die eerst later zou komen.
9 So then there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.
Dus is het volk Gods nog een Sabbat-Rust voorbehouden;
10 The [one] for having entered into the rest of Him also he himself rested from the works of him as from [His] own God [did].
want die zijn Rust binnengaat, rust ook zelf van zijn werken, zoals ook God van de zijne.
11 We may be diligent therefore to enter into that [very] rest, so that not by the same anyone example may fall of disobedience.
Doen wij ons best dus, om binnen te gaan in die Rust, opdat niemand in dit voorbeeld van ongehoorzaamheid mag vervallen.
12 Living [is] for the word of God and active and sharper than any sword two-edged even penetrating as far as [the] division of soul (then *k*) and spirit, of joints and also marrows, and able to judge [the] thoughts and intentions of [the] heart;
Want Gods woord is levend en krachtig, scherper dan elk tweesnijdend zwaard, dóórdringend tussen ziel en geest, gewrichten en merg, rechter ook der neigingen en overdenkingen van het hart.
13 And not there is creature hidden before Him; all things however [are] uncovered and laid bare to the eyes of Him to whom [is] our reckoning.
En geen schepsel is onzichtbaar voor Hem, maar alles ligt naakt en bloot voor de ogen van Hem, aan wien we verantwoording hebben af te leggen.
14 Having therefore a high priest great having passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, we may hold firmly to [our] confession.
Daar we nu een groten Hogepriester hebben, die in de hemelen is doorgedrongen, Jesus, den zoon van God, zo laat ons vasthouden aan de belijdenis.
15 Not for have we a high priest not being able to sympathize with the weaknesses of us, (tempted *N(k)O*) however in all things by [the] same way without sin.
Want we hebben geen Hogepriester, die onze zwakheden niet meevoelen kan, maar Eén, die bekoord werd geheel op dezelfde wijze als wij, behoudens de zonde.
16 We may come therefore with boldness to the throne of grace, so that we may receive (mercy *N(k)O*) and grace may find for in time of need help.
Laat ons dus met vertrouwen opgaan tot de troon der genade, om barmhartigheid te verkrijgen, en genade te vinden tot tijdige hulp.
