Hebrews 11
1 Is now faith of [things] hoped for [the] assurance, of things [the] conviction not being seen.
Or la foi rend présentes les choses qu'on espère, et elle est une démonstration de celles qu'on ne voit point.
2 In this for were commended the ancients.
Car c'est par elle que les anciens ont obtenu [un bon] témoignage.
3 By faith we understand to have been formed the ages by declaration of God so that which not out of [things] being visible (the [thing] being seen *N(k)O*) becoming. (aiōn g165)
Par la foi nous savons que les siècles ont été rangés par la parole de Dieu, de sorte que les choses qui se voient, n'ont point été faites de choses qui apparussent. (aiōn g165)
4 By faith a more excellent sacrifice Abel than Cain offered to God, through which he was testified to be righteous bearing witness to the gifts of him (God; *NK(o)*) and through it having died still (he speaks. *N(k)O*)
Par la foi Abel offrit à Dieu un plus excellent sacrifice que Caïn, [et] par elle il obtint le témoignage d'être juste, à cause que Dieu rendait témoignage de ses dons; et lui étant mort parle encore par elle.
5 By faith Enoch was translated not to see death and not was he found because took up him God; Before for the translation (of him *k*) he has been commended to have pleased God;
Par la foi Enoch fut enlevé pour ne point passer par la mort; et il ne fut point trouvé, parce que Dieu l'avait enlevé; car avant qu'il fût enlevé il a obtenu le témoignage d'avoir été agréable à Dieu.
6 Without now faith [it is] impossible to please [Him]; To believe for it behooves the one drawing near to God that He exists and [that] to those earnestly seeking out Him a rewarder He becomes.
Or il est impossible de lui être agréable sans la foi; car il faut que celui qui vient à Dieu, croie que Dieu est, et qu'il est le rémunérateur de ceux qui le cherchent.
7 By faith having been divinely instructed Noah concerning the [things] not yet seen having been moved with fear he prepared an ark for [the] salvation of the household of him, through which he condemned the world and of the according to faith righteousness [that is] he became heir.
Par la foi Noé ayant été divinement averti des choses qui ne se voyaient point encore, craignit, et bâtit l'Arche pour la conservation de sa famille, et par [cette Arche] il condamna le monde, et fut fait héritier de la justice qui est selon la foi.
8 By faith (the [one] *o*) being called Abraham obeyed to go out into (*k*) a place that he was going to receive for an inheritance and went out not knowing where he is going.
Par la foi Abraham étant appelé, obéit, pour aller en la terre, qu'il devait recevoir en héritage, et il partit sans savoir où il allait.
9 By faith he sojourned in (the *k*) land of the promise as [in] a foreign [country] in tents having dwelt with Isaac and Jacob the joint-heirs of the promise same;
Par la foi il demeura comme étranger en la terre, qui lui avait été promise, comme si elle ne lui eût point appartenu, demeurant sous des tentes avec Isaac et Jacob, qui étaient héritiers avec lui de la même promesse.
10 He was awaiting for the foundations having city of which [the] architect and builder [is] God.
Car il attendait la cité qui a des fondements, et de laquelle Dieu [est] l'architecte, et le fondateur.
11 By faith also herself Sarah ([being] barren *N*) power for [the] conception of seed received even beyond [the] opportune age (she brought forth *K*) since faithful she considered the [One] having promised.
Par la foi aussi Sara reçut la vertu de concevoir un enfant, et elle enfanta hors d'âge, parce qu'elle fut persuadée que celui qui [le lui] avait promis, était fidèle.
12 Therefore also from one man were born, and he as good as dead, even as the stars of heaven in multitude and (as *N(k)O*) the sand by the shore of the sea countless.
C'est pourquoi d'un seul, et qui même [était] amorti, sont nés [des gens] qui égalent en nombre les étoiles du ciel, et le sable qui est sur le rivage de la mer, lequel ne se peut nombrer.
13 In faith died these all not (having received *NK(O)*) the promises but from afar them having seen and (having been persuaded and *K*) having embraced [them] and having confessed that strangers and sojourners they are on the earth.
Tous ceux-ci sont morts en la foi, sans avoir reçu [les choses dont ils avaient eu] les promesses, mais ils les ont vues de loin, crues, et saluées, et ils ont fait profession qu'ils étaient étrangers et voyageurs sur la terre.
14 Those for such things saying make manifest that their country they are seeking.
Car ceux qui tiennent ces discours montrent clairement qu'ils cherchent encore [leur] pays.
15 And if indeed that [one] (they were remembering *NK(o)*) from where (they came out, *N(k)O*) they had then would opportunity to return;
Et certes, s'ils eussent rappelé dans leur souvenir celui dont ils étaient sortis, ils avaient du temps pour y retourner.
16 (now *N(k)O*) however to a better [one] they stretch forward to, That is to a heavenly [one]; Therefore not is ashamed of them God God to be called of them; He has prepared indeed for them a city.
Mais ils en désiraient un meilleur, c'est-à-dire, le céleste; c'est pourquoi Dieu ne prend point à honte d'être appelé leur Dieu, parce qu'il leur avait préparé une Cité.
17 By faith has offered up Abraham Isaac Being tested, even [his] only begotten [son] was offering up the [one] the promises having received,
Par la foi, Abraham étant éprouvé, offrit Isaac; celui, [dis-je], qui avait reçu les promesses, offrit même son fils unique.
18 as to whom it was said that In Isaac will be reckoned your offspring;
A l'égard duquel il lui avait été dit: les descendants d'Isaac seront ta véritable postérité.
19 having reasoned that even out from [the] dead to raise able [was] God, from where him also in a simile he received.
Ayant estimé que Dieu le pouvait même ressusciter d'entre les morts; c'est pourquoi aussi il le recouvra par une espèce [de résurrection].
20 By faith (also *no*) concerning [the things] coming blessed Isaac Jacob and Esau.
Par la foi Isaac donna à Jacob et à Esaü une bénédiction qui regardait l'avenir.
21 By faith Jacob dying each of the sons of Joseph blessed and worshiped on the top of the staff of him.
Par la foi Jacob en mourant bénit chacun des fils de Joseph, et se prosterna [devant Dieu] étant appuyé sur le bout de son bâton.
22 By faith Joseph dying concerning the exodus of the sons of Israel made mention and concerning the bones of him gave instructions.
Par la foi Joseph en mourant fit mention de la sortie des enfants d'Israël, et donna un ordre touchant ses os.
23 By faith Moses having been born he was hidden three months by the parents of him because they saw [was] beautiful the little child and not they did fear the edict of the king.
Par la foi Moïse étant né fut caché trois mois par ses père et mère, parce que c'était un très bel enfant, et ils ne craignirent point l'Edit du Roi.
24 By faith Moses grown having become he refused to be named [the] son of [the] daughter of Pharaoh,
Par la foi Moïse étant déjà grand, refusa d'être nommé fils de la fille de Pharaon.
25 rather having chosen to suffer affliction with the people of God than [the] temporary to have of sin enjoyment;
Choisissant plutôt d'être affligé avec le peuple de Dieu, que de jouir pour un peu de temps [des délices] du péché.
26 greater wealth having esteemed than that (in *k*) (Egypt *N(k)O*) treasures the reproach of Christ; he was looking for toward the reward.
[Et] ayant estimé que l'opprobre de Christ était un plus grand trésor que les richesses de l'Egypte; parce qu'il avait égard à la rémunération.
27 By faith he left Egypt not having feared the anger of the king; the for Invisible [One] as seeing he persevered.
Par la foi il quitta l'Egypte, n'ayant point craint la fureur du Roi; car il demeura ferme, comme voyant celui qui est invisible.
28 By faith he has kept the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, so that not the [one] destroying the firstborn may touch them.
Par la foi il fit la Pâque et l'aspersion du sang, afin que celui qui tuait les premiers-nés, ne touchât point à ceux [des Israélites].
29 By faith they passed through the Red Sea as through dry (land, *no*) which an attempt having made the Egyptians were swallowed up.
Par la foi ils traversèrent la mer Rouge, comme par un lieu sec; ce que les Egyptiens ayant voulu éprouver, ils furent engloutis [dans les eaux].
30 By faith the walls of Jericho (fell *N(k)O*) having been encircled for seven days.
Par la foi les murs de Jéricho tombèrent, après qu'on en eut fait le tour durant sept jours.
31 By faith Rahab the prostitute not did perish with those having disobeyed having received the spies with peace.
Par la foi Rahab l'hospitalière ne périt point avec les incrédules; ayant reçu les espions [et les ayant renvoyés] en paix.
32 And what more shall I say? Will fail me for telling the time of Gideon, Barak, (both and *k*) Samson, (and *k*) Jephthah, David also and Samuel and the prophets;
Et que dirai-je davantage? car le temps me manquera, si je veux parler de Gédéon, de Barac, de Samson, de Jephté, de David, de Samuel, et des Prophètes,
33 who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, obtained promises, shut [the] mouths of lions,
Qui par la foi ont combattu les Royaumes, ont exercé la justice, ont obtenu [l'effet] des promesses, ont fermé les gueules des lions,
34 quenched [the] power of fire, escaped [the] blades of [the] sword, (be empowered *N(k)O*) out of weakness, became mighty in war, [the] armies put to flight of foreigners.
Ont éteint la force du feu, sont échappés du tranchant des épées; de malades sont devenus vigoureux; se sont montrés forts dans la bataille, [et] ont tourné en fuite les armées des étrangers.
35 Received back women by resurrection the dead of them; others then were tortured not having accepted release, so that a better resurrection they may obtain;
Les femmes ont recouvré leurs morts par le moyen de la résurrection; d'autres ont été étendus dans le tourment, ne tenant point compte d'être délivrés, afin d'obtenir la meilleure résurrection.
36 Others then of mockings and of scourgings trial received, in addition also of chains and imprisonment;
Et d'autres ont été éprouvés par des moqueries et par des coups, par des liens, et par la prison.
37 They were stoned, they were sawed in two (tested *KO*) by slaughter of [the] sword they were killed; they wandered in sheepskins, in goats’ skins, being destitute, being oppressed, being mistreated,
Ils ont été lapidés, ils ont été sciés, ils ont souffert de rudes épreuves, ils ont été mis à mort par le tranchant de l'épée, ils ont été errants çà et là, vêtus de peaux de brebis et de chèvres, réduits à la misère, affligés, tourmentés;
38 of whom not was worthy the world; (in *N(k)O*) deserts wandering and in mountains and in caves and in the holes of the earth.
Desquels le monde n'était pas digne; errant dans les déserts, et dans les montagnes, dans les cavernes, et dans les trous de la terre.
39 And these all having been commended through the faith not did receive the promise
Et quoiqu'ils aient tous été recommandables par leur foi, ils n'ont pourtant point reçu [l'effet de] la promesse;
40 God for us better something having planned, so that not apart from us they may be made perfect.
Dieu ayant pourvu quelque chose de meilleur pour nous; en sorte qu'ils ne sont point parvenus à la perfection sans nous.
