Haggai 1
1 In year two of Darius the king in the month sixth on day one of the month it came [the] word of Yahweh by [the] hand of Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel [the] son of Shealtiel [the] governor of Judah and to Joshua [the] son of Jehozadak the priest great saying.
Bara bulchiinsa Daariyoos Mootichaa keessaa waggaa lammaffaatti, guyyaa tokkoffaa jiʼa jaʼaffaatti, dubbiin Waaqayyoo karaa Haagee Raajichaatiin gara ilma Sheʼaltiiʼeel gara Zarubaabel bulchaa Yihuudaatii fi gara Iyyaasuu ilma Yehoozaadaaq lubicha ol aanaa akkana jedhee dhufe:
2 Thus he says Yahweh of hosts saying the people this they have said not a time to come [the] time of [the] house of Yahweh to be rebuilt.
Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu akkana jedha: “Sabni kun, ‘Yeroon itti manni Waaqayyoo ijaaramu amma illee hin geenye’ jedha.”
3 And it came [the] word of Yahweh by [the] hand of Haggai the prophet saying.
Ergasii dubbiin Waaqayyoo karaa Haagee Raajichaatiin akkana jedhee dhufe:
4 ¿ [does] a time [belong] to You you to dwell in houses your covered and the house this [is] desolate.
“Yeroon kun yeroo isin utuu manni kun diigamee jiruu manneen keessan kanneen miidhagfaman keessa jiraattaniidhaa?”
5 And therefore thus he says Yahweh of hosts set heart your on ways your.
Ammas Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu akkana jedha: “Yaada keessan karaa keessan irra kaaʼadhaa.
6 You have sown much and you have brought little you have eaten and not to satiety you have drunk and not to become drunk you have dressed and not to be warm to him and the [one who] earns wages [is] earning wages to a bag pierced.
Isin sanyii baayʼee facaafattanii waan xinnoo haammattaniirtu. Isin ni nyaattu; garuu hin quuftan. Ni dhugdu; garuu dheebuu hin baatan. Wayyaa ni uffattu; garuu isinitti hin hoʼu. Namni mindaa fudhatu akkuma nama mindaa isaa korojoo tarsaʼaa keessa kaaʼatuu ti.”
7 Thus he says Yahweh of hosts set heart your on ways your.
Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu akkana jedha: “Karaa keessan hubadhaa.
8 Go up the hill country and you will bring wood and rebuild the house so I may take pleasure in it (so let me be honored *Q(K)*) he says Yahweh.
Tulluutti ol baʼaa; muka fidaa; manicha ijaaraa; anis isatti nan gammada; nan kabajamas” jedha Waaqayyo.
9 You turned to look to much and there! little and you brought [it] the house and I blew on it because of what? [the] utterance of Yahweh of hosts because of house my which it [is] desolate and you [are] running each to own house his.
“Isin waan baayʼee abdattan; garuu ni xinnaate. Isin manatti galfattan ani immoo nan afuufe. Kun maaliif taʼee?” jedha Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu. “Kun sababii utuu manni koo diigamee jiruu tokkoon tokkoon keessan gara mana keessaniitti fiigdaniif.
10 There-fore on you they have withheld ([the] heavens *L(abh)*) from dew and the land it has withheld produce its.
Kanaafuu sababii keessaniif samiiwwan fixeensa isaanii dhowwatan; laftis midhaan ishee dhowwatte.
11 And I have summoned a drought on the land and on the mountains and on the grain and on the new wine and on the fresh oil and on [that] which it will bring forth the ground and on humankind and on the livestock and on all [the] toil of hands.
Anis lafa qotiisaa fi tulluuwwaniitti, midhaanii fi daadhii wayinii haaraatti, zayitii fi waan lafti kennitu hundatti, namaa fi loonitti, hojii dadhabbii harka keessaniittis hongee waameera.”
12 And he listened Zerubbabel - [the] son of Shealtiel and Joshua [the] son of Jehozadak the priest great and all - [the] remnant of the people to [the] voice of Yahweh God their and to [the] words of Haggai the prophet just as he had sent him Yahweh God their and they were afraid the people of Yahweh.
Zarubaabel ilmi Sheʼaltiiʼeel, Iyyaasuun ilmi Yehoozaadaaq lubichi ol aanaanii fi hambaawwan uummataa hundi sagalee Waaqayyo Waaqa isaaniitii fi ergaa Haagee raajichaatiif ajajaman; Waaqayyo Waaqni isaanii isa ergeeraatii. Uummannis Waaqayyoon sodaate.
13 And he said Haggai [the] messenger of Yahweh by [the] message of Yahweh to the people saying I [am] with you [the] utterance of Yahweh.
Ergasii Haageen ergamaan Waaqayyoo sun akkana jedhee ergaa Waaqayyoo kana sabatti hime: “Ani isin wajjinan jira” jedha Waaqayyo.
14 And he stirred up Yahweh [the] spirit of Zerubbabel [the] son of Shealtiel [the] governor of Judah and [the] spirit of Joshua [the] son of Jehozadak the priest great and [the] spirit of all [the] remnant of the people and they came and they did work in [the] house of Yahweh of hosts God their.
Akkasiin Waaqayyo hafuura Zarubaabel ilma Sheʼaltiiʼeel bulchaa Yihuudaa, hafuura Iyyaasuu ilma Yehoozaadaaq lubicha ol aanaatii fi hafuura hambaa uummata hundaa kakaase. Isaanis dhufanii mana Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼuu, mana Waaqa isaanii ijaaruu jalqaban;
15 On day twenty and four of the month in the sixth [month] in year two of Darius the king.
kunis bara Daariyoos mootichaa keessaa waggaa lammaffaatti, bultii digdamii afuraffaa jiʼa jaʼaffaatti taʼe.
