Genesis 4
1 And the man he knew Eve wife his and she conceived and she bore Cain and she said I have acquired a man with Yahweh.
Og Adam holdt sig til sin hustru Eva, og hun blev fruktsommelig og fødte Kain; da sa hun: Jeg har fått en mann ved Herren.
2 And she repeated to give birth to brother his Abel and he was Abel a herder of sheep and Cain he was a tiller of [the] ground.
Siden fødte hun Abel, hans bror. Og Abel blev fårehyrde, men Kain blev jorddyrker.
3 And it happened from [the] end of days and he brought Cain some of [the] fruit of the ground an offering to Yahweh.
Da nogen tid var gått, hendte det at Kain bar frem for Herren et offer av jordens grøde.
4 And Abel he brought also he some of [the] firstborn of flock his and some of fat their and he looked Yahweh to Abel and to offering his.
Og Abel bar også frem et offer, som han tok av de førstefødte lam i sin hjord og deres fett; og Herren så til Abel og hans offer,
5 And to Cain and to offering his not he looked and burned to Cain exceedingly and they fell face his.
men til Kain og hans offer så han ikke. Da blev Kain meget vred, og han stirret ned for sig.
6 And he said Yahweh to Cain why? does it burn to you and why? have they fallen face your.
Og Herren sa til Kain: Hvorfor er du vred, og hvorfor stirrer du ned for dig?
7 ¿ Not if you will do well lifting up and if not you will do well to the door sin [is] crouching and [is] to you desire its and you you will rule over it.
Er det ikke så at dersom du har godt i sinne, da kan du løfte op ditt ansikt? Men har du ikke godt i sinne, da ligger synden på lur ved døren, og dens attrå står til dig, men du skal være herre over den.
8 And he said Cain to Abel brother his (let us go [into] the field *X*) and it was when were they in the field and he rose up Cain against Abel brother his and he killed him.
Og Kain talte til Abel, sin bror. Og da de engang var ute på marken, for Kain løs på Abel, sin bror, og slo ham ihjel.
9 And he said Yahweh to Cain where? [is] Abel brother your and he said not I know ¿ [the] keeper of brother my [am] I.
Da sa Herren til Kain: Hvor er Abel, din bror? Han svarte: Jeg vet ikke; skal jeg passe på min bror?
10 And he said what? have you done [the] voice of [the] blood of brother your [are] crying out to me from the ground.
Men han sa: Hvad har du gjort? Hør, din brors blod roper til mig fra jorden.
11 And now [are] cursed you from the ground which has opened mouth its to receive [the] blood of brother your from hand your.
Og nu skal du være bannlyst fra den jord som lot op sin munn og tok imot din brors blod av din hånd!
12 For you will till the ground not will repeat to give produce its to you a wanderer and a fugitive you will be on the earth.
Når du dyrker jorden, skal den ikke mere gi dig sin grøde; omflakkende og hjemløs skal du være på jorden.
13 And he said Cain to Yahweh [is too] great punishment my for bearing.
Da sa Kain til Herren: Min misgjerning er større enn at jeg kan bære den.
14 Here! you have driven away me this day from on [the] surface of the ground and from before you I will be hidden and I will be a wanderer and a fugitive on the earth and it will be every [one who] finds me he will kill me.
Se, du har idag drevet mig ut av landet, og jeg må skjule mig for ditt åsyn; og jeg vil bli omflakkende og hjemløs på jorden, og det vil gå så at hver den som finner mig, slår mig ihjel.
15 And he said to him Yahweh therefore any [one who] kills Cain sevenfold he will be avenged and he appointed Yahweh for Cain a sign to not to strike him any [one who] found him.
Men Herren sa til ham: Nei! for slår nogen Kain ihjel, skal han lide syvfold hevn. Og Herren gav Kain et merke, forat ikke nogen som møtte ham, skulde slå ham ihjel.
16 And he went out Cain from to before Yahweh and he dwelt in [the] land of Nod [the] east of Eden.
Så gikk Kain bort fra Herrens åsyn og bosatte sig i landet Nod, østenfor Eden.
17 And he knew Cain wife his and she conceived and she bore Enoch and he was building a city and he called [the] name of the city according to [the] name of son his Enoch.
Og Kain holdt sig til sin hustru, og hun blev fruktsommelig og fødte Hanok; og han tok sig for å bygge en by og kalte byen Hanok efter sin sønn.
18 And he was born to Enoch Irad and Irad he fathered Mehujael and Mehujael he fathered Methushael and Methushael he fathered Lamech.
Og Hanok fikk sønnen Irad, og Irad blev far til Mehujael, og Mehujael blev far til Metusael, og Metusael blev far til Lamek.
19 And he took for himself Lamech two wives [the] name of the one [was] Adah and [the] name of the second [was] Zillah.
Og Lamek tok sig to hustruer; den ene hette Ada, og den andre hette Silla.
20 And she bore Adah Jabal he he was [the] father of dweller[s] of tent and livestock.
Og Ada fødte Jabal; han blev stamfar til dem som bor i telt og holder buskap.
21 And [the] name of brother his [was] Jubal he he was [the] father of every player of harp and flute.
Og hans bror hette Jubal; han blev stamfar til alle dem som spiller på harpe og fløite.
22 And Zillah also she she bore Tubal-Cain a sharpener of every worker of bronze and iron and [was] [the] sister of Tubal-Cain Naamah.
Og Silla fødte Tubalkain; han smidde alle slags skarpe redskaper av kobber og jern; og Tubalkains søster var Na'ama.
23 And he said Lamech to wives his O Adah and Zillah listen to voice my O wives of Lamech give ear to speech my that a man I have killed for bruise my and a young man for wound my.
Og Lamek sa til sine hustruer: Ada og Silla, hør mine ord, Lameks hustruer, merk min tale! En mann dreper jeg for hvert sår jeg får, og en gutt for hver skramme jeg får;
24 For sevenfold he will be avenged Cain and Lamech seventy and seven.
for hevnes Kain syv ganger, da skal Lamek hevnes syv og sytti ganger.
25 And he knew Adam again wife his and she bore a son and she called name his Seth for he has appointed for me God of spring another in place of Abel for he killed him Cain.
Og Adam holdt sig atter til sin hustru, og hun fødte en sønn og kalte ham Set; for sa hun Gud har satt mig en annen sønn i Abels sted, fordi Kain slo ham ihjel.
26 And to Seth also he he was born a son and he called name his Enosh then it was begun to call on [the] name of Yahweh.
Og Set fikk en sønn og kalte ham Enos. På den tid begynte de å påkalle Herrens navn.
