Genesis 32
1 And Jacob he went to way his and they met him [the] angels of God.
Jacob siguió su camino y unos ángeles de Dios vinieron a su encuentro.
2 And he said Jacob just when he saw them [is] [the] camp of God this and he called [the] name of the place that Mahanaim.
Cuando los vio dijo: “¡Este debe ser el campamento de Dios!” Y llamó al lugar “Dos campamentos”.
3 And he sent Jacob messengers before him to Esau brother his [the] land of towards Seir [the] region of Edom.
Entonces envió mensajeros a su hermano Esaú, que vivía en la región de Seír, en el país de Edom.
4 And he commanded them saying thus you will say! to lord my to Esau thus he says servant your Jacob with Laban I have sojourned and I have delayed until now.
Y les dijo: “Esto es lo que deben decirle a mi señor Esaú: Tu siervo Jacob te envía este mensaje. He estado con Labán hasta ahora,
5 And it be[longs] to me ox[en] and donkey[s] flock[s] and [male] servant[s] and female servant[s] and I have sent! to tell to lord my to find favor in view your.
y tengo ganado, asnos, ovejas y cabras, así como esclavos y esclavas. He enviado a estos mensajeros para explicarte esto, mi señor, esperando que te alegresde verme”.
6 And they returned the messengers to Jacob saying we went to brother your to Esau and also [he is] coming to meet you and four hundred man [are] with him.
Los mensajeros volvieron a Jacob y le dijeron: “¡Su hermano Esaú viene a recibirle con 400 hombres armados!”
7 And he was afraid Jacob exceedingly and it was distress to him and he divided the people which [was] with him and the flock and the herd and the camels into two camps.
Cuando Jacob escuchó esto, estaba absolutamente aterrorizado. Dividió a toda la gente con él, junto con las ovejas, las cabras, el ganado y los camellos, en dos grupos,
8 And he said if he will come Esau to the camp one and he will attack it and it will become the camp which remains an escaped remnant.
diciéndose a sí mismo: “Si Esaú viene y destruye un grupo, el otro puede escapar”.
9 And he said Jacob O God of father my Abraham and [the] God of father my Isaac O Yahweh who said to me return to land your and to kindred your so let me do good with you.
Entonces Jacob oró: “¡Dios de mi abuelo Abraham, Dios de mi padre Isaac! Señor, tú fuiste quien me dijo: ‘Vuelve a tu país y a la casa de tu familia, y te trataré bien’
10 I am [too] insignificant for all the covenant loyalti and for all the faithfulness which you have done with servant your for with staff my I passed over the Jordan this and now I have become two camps.
No merezco todo el amor y la fidelidad que has mostrado a tu siervo. Crucé el Jordán hace años con sólo mi bastón, y ahora tengo dos grandes campamentos.
11 Deliver me please from [the] hand of brother my from [the] hand of Esau for [am] fearing I him lest he should come and he will attack me mother with children.
Por favor, sálvame de mi hermano; ¡defiéndeme de Esaú! Me aterra que venga a atacarme a mí, a mis mujeres y a mis hijos.
12 And you you have said certainly I will do good with you and I will make offspring your like [the] sand of the sea which not it will be counted from multitude.
Tú mismo me dijiste: ‘Sin duda alguna te trataré bien. Haré que tus descendientes sean tan numerosos como la arena de la playa, demasiados para contarlos’”.
13 And he stayed [the] night there in the night that and he took some of which came in hand his a gift for Esau brother his.
Jacob pasó la noche allí. Luego escogió animales como regalo para su hermano Esaú:
14 Female goats two hundred and male goats twenty ewes two hundred and rams twenty.
200 cabras hembras, 20 cabras machos; 200 ovejas, 20 carneros;
15 Camels suckling and young their thirty cows forty and bulls ten female donkeys twenty and male donkeys ten.
30 camellos hembras con sus crías, 40 vacas, 10 toros; 20 burros hembras, 10 burros machos.
16 And he gave [them] in [the] hand of servants his herd herd to only it and he said to servants his pass over before me and a space you will put between a herd and between a herd.
Puso a sus sirvientes a cargo de cada uno de los rebaños y les dijo: “Adelántense y mantengan una buena distancia entre los rebaños”.
17 And he commanded the first saying that he will meet you Esau brother my and he will ask you saying [belong] to whom? you and where? are you going and [belong] to whom? these [animals] before you.
A los que tenían el primer rebaño les dio estas instrucciones: “Cuando mi hermano Esaú se encuentre con ustedes y les pregunte: ‘¿Quién es su amo, a dónde van, y de quién son estos animales que vienen con ustedes’
18 And you will say to servant your to Jacob [is] a gift it [which has] been sent to lord my to Esau and there! also he [is] behind us.
deberán decirle: ‘Tu siervo Jacob envía estos como regalo a mi señor Esaú, y viene detrás de nosotros’”.
19 And he commanded both the second as well as the third as well as all who were going behind the herds saying according to the manner this you will speak! to Esau when find you him.
A los que tenían el segundo, el tercero, y todos los rebaños subsiguientes lesdio las mismas instrucciones, diciéndoles: “Esto es lo que deben decirle a Esaú cuando se encuentre con ustedes.
20 And you will say also there! servant your Jacob [is] behind us for he said I will cover face his by the gift that is going before me and after thus I will see face his perhaps he will lift up face my.
Y también deben decirle: ‘Tu siervo Jacob viene justo detrás de nosotros’”.
21 And it passed on the gift on face his and he [was] staying [the] night in the night that in the camp.
Así que los regalos iban adelante mientras Jacob pasaba la noche en el campamento.
22 And he rose - in the night that and he took [the] two wives his and [the] two maidservants his and one [plus] ten sons his and he passed over [the] ford of Jabbok.
Se levantó durante la noche y tomó a sus dos esposas y a las dos criadas personales y a sus once hijos, y cruzó el río Jaboc.
23 And he took them and he sent over them the wadi and he sent over [that] which [belonged] to him.
Después de ayudarles a cruzar, también les envió todo lo que les pertenecía.
24 And he remained Jacob to only him and he wrestled a man with him until came up the dawn.
Pero Jacob se quedó allí solo. Un hombre vino y luchó con él hasta el amanecer.
25 And he saw that not he prevailed to him and he touched [the] socket of thigh his and it was dislocated [the] socket of [the] thigh of Jacob when wrestled he with him.
Cuando el hombre se dio cuenta de que no podía vencer a Jacob, golpeó la cavidad de la cadera de Jacob y la desarticuló mientras luchaba con él.
26 And he said let go me for it has come up the dawn and he said not I will let go you that except you have blessed me.
Entonces el hombre dijo: “Déjame ir porque ya casi ha amanecido”. “No te dejaré ir a menos que me bendigas”, respondió Jacob.
27 And he said to him what? [is] name your and he said Jacob.
“¿Cómo te llamas?” le preguntó el hombre. “Jacob”, respondió él.
28 And he said not Jacob it will be called again name your that except Israel for you have struggled with God and with people and you have prevailed.
“Tu nombre no será más Jacob”, dijo el hombre. “En su lugar te llamarás Israel, porque luchaste con Dios y con los hombres, y ganaste”.
29 And he asked Jacob and he said tell! please name your and he said why? this do you ask to name my and he blessed him there.
“Por favor, dime tu nombre”, preguntó Jacob. “¿Por qué me preguntas mi nombre?” respondió el hombre. Entonces bendijo a Jacob allí.
30 And he called Jacob [the] name of the place Peniel for I have seen God face to face and it has been delivered life my.
Jacob nombró el lugar Peniel, diciendo: “¡Vi a Dios cara a cara y todavía estoy vivo!”
31 And it rose to him the sun just when he passed over Penuel and he [was] limping on thigh his.
Y cuando Jacob se fue de Peniel, ya salía el sol, e iba cojeando por su cadera fracturada.
32 There-fore not they eat [the] people of Israel [the] sinew of the tendon which [is] on [the] socket of the thigh until the day this for he touched [the] socket of [the] thigh of Jacob [the] sinew of the tendon.
(Por eso, aún hoy, los israelitas no se comen el tendón del muslo que está unido a la cuenca de la cadera, porque ahí es donde el hombre golpeó la cuenca de la cadera de Jacob).
