< Genesis 32 >

1 And Jacob he went to way his and they met him [the] angels of God.
Awo Yakobo n’akwata ekkubo lye, bamalayika ba Katonda ne bamusisinkana.
2 And he said Jacob just when he saw them [is] [the] camp of God this and he called [the] name of the place that Mahanaim.
Yakobo bwe yabalaba n’agamba nti, “Lino ggye lya Katonda.” Ekifo ekyo n’alyoka akituuma Makanayimu.
3 And he sent Jacob messengers before him to Esau brother his [the] land of towards Seir [the] region of Edom.
Awo Yakobo n’atuma ababaka eri Esawu muganda we, mu kitundu kya Seyiri mu nsi ya Edomu.
4 And he commanded them saying thus you will say! to lord my to Esau thus he says servant your Jacob with Laban I have sojourned and I have delayed until now.
N’abagamba nti, “Mugambe mukama wange Esawu nti, ‘Omuddu wo Yakobo abadde ne Labbaani okutuusa kaakano,
5 And it be[longs] to me ox[en] and donkey[s] flock[s] and [male] servant[s] and female servant[s] and I have sent! to tell to lord my to find favor in view your.
alina ente, n’endogoyi, n’endiga era n’embuzi, abaweereza abakazi era n’abasajja. Kaakano aweerezza mukama we Esawu obubaka buno afune okusaasirwa mu maaso ge.’”
6 And they returned the messengers to Jacob saying we went to brother your to Esau and also [he is] coming to meet you and four hundred man [are] with him.
Ababaka bwe baakomawo eri Yakobo ne bamugamba nti, “Twatuuka ewa muganda wo Esawu era ajja okukusisinkana ng’alina abasajja ebikumi bina.”
7 And he was afraid Jacob exceedingly and it was distress to him and he divided the people which [was] with him and the flock and the herd and the camels into two camps.
Olwo Yakobo n’atandika okutiira ddala, n’asoberwa. N’ayawulamu abantu be yali nabo, n’ayawulamu n’endiga, ebisibo bye yalina ne mu ŋŋamira, ebibinja bibiri,
8 And he said if he will come Esau to the camp one and he will attack it and it will become the camp which remains an escaped remnant.
ng’alowooza nti, “Esawu bw’anaatuuka ku kibinja ekisooka n’akizikiriza, kale ekibinja ekisigaddewo kinadduka.”
9 And he said Jacob O God of father my Abraham and [the] God of father my Isaac O Yahweh who said to me return to land your and to kindred your so let me do good with you.
Awo Yakobo n’agamba nti, “Ayi Katonda wa jjajjange Ibulayimu, era Katonda wa kitange Isaaka, Ayi Mukama eyaŋŋamba nti, ‘Ddayo mu nsi yammwe, mu bantu bo, nange nnaakugaggawazanga,’
10 I am [too] insignificant for all the covenant loyalti and for all the faithfulness which you have done with servant your for with staff my I passed over the Jordan this and now I have become two camps.
sisaanira wadde akatundu akatono ak’okwagala kwo okutaggwaawo, wadde obwesigwa bwonna bw’olaze omuddu wo. Kubanga nasomoka omugga guno Yoludaani nga nnina muggobuggo; naye kaakano nfuuse ebibinja bibiri.
11 Deliver me please from [the] hand of brother my from [the] hand of Esau for [am] fearing I him lest he should come and he will attack me mother with children.
Nkusaba omponye mu mukono gwa muganda wange, Esawu, kubanga mmutya, talwa kujja n’atutta ffenna awamu n’abakazi n’abaana.
12 And you you have said certainly I will do good with you and I will make offspring your like [the] sand of the sea which not it will be counted from multitude.
Naye waŋŋamba nti, ‘Nnaakugaggawazanga, era abalikuvaamu baliba ng’omusenyu gw’ennyanja, ogutabalika obungi bwabwe.’”
13 And he stayed [the] night there in the night that and he took some of which came in hand his a gift for Esau brother his.
N’alyoka asula eyo ekiro ekyo, n’aggya ekirabo kya muganda we Esawu ku ebyo bye yalina:
14 Female goats two hundred and male goats twenty ewes two hundred and rams twenty.
embuzi enkazi ebikumi bibiri, embuzi ennume amakumi abiri, endiga enkazi ebikumi bibiri, endiga ennume amakumi abiri,
15 Camels suckling and young their thirty cows forty and bulls ten female donkeys twenty and male donkeys ten.
eŋŋamira enkazi amakumi asatu n’obwana bwazo, ente enkazi amakumi ana n’ennume kkumi, n’endogoyi enkazi amakumi abiri, n’endogoyi ennume kkumi.
16 And he gave [them] in [the] hand of servants his herd herd to only it and he said to servants his pass over before me and a space you will put between a herd and between a herd.
N’azikwasa abaddu be, buli kisibo ng’akyawudde, n’agamba abaddu be nti, “Kale munkulemberemu, mulekeewo ebbanga wakati wa buli kisibo.”
17 And he commanded the first saying that he will meet you Esau brother my and he will ask you saying [belong] to whom? you and where? are you going and [belong] to whom? these [animals] before you.
N’alagira eyakulembera nti, “Esawu, muganda wange bw’anaakusisinkana n’akubuuza nti, ‘Oli muntu w’ani? Ogenda wa? Na bino by’olina by’ani?’
18 And you will say to servant your to Jacob [is] a gift it [which has] been sent to lord my to Esau and there! also he [is] behind us.
N’olyoka omuddamu nti, ‘Bya muddu wo Yakobo, birabo by’aweerezza mukama wange Esawu, era tali wala naffe.’”
19 And he commanded both the second as well as the third as well as all who were going behind the herds saying according to the manner this you will speak! to Esau when find you him.
Bw’atyo era n’alagira n’owokubiri n’owookusatu ne bonna abaagobereranga ebisibo nti, “Nammwe mwogere ebigambo bye bimu bwe musisinkana Esawu,
20 And you will say also there! servant your Jacob [is] behind us for he said I will cover face his by the gift that is going before me and after thus I will see face his perhaps he will lift up face my.
era mugambe nti, ‘Omuddu wo Yakobo tali wala naffe.’” Kubanga Yakobo yalowooza nti, “Nnaamuwooyawooya n’ekirabo ekinkulembedde, n’oluvannyuma nnaalaba amaaso ge, osanga tankole kabi.”
21 And it passed on the gift on face his and he [was] staying [the] night in the night that in the camp.
Ekirabo kyekyava kimukulemberamu, ye n’asula mu kifo we yali ekiro ekyo.
22 And he rose - in the night that and he took [the] two wives his and [the] two maidservants his and one [plus] ten sons his and he passed over [the] ford of Jabbok.
Mu kiro ekyo Yakobo n’agolokoka n’atwala bakazi be bombi, n’abaweereza be abakazi ababiri, n’abaana be ekkumi n’omu n’asomokera e Yaboki.
23 And he took them and he sent over them the wadi and he sent over [that] which [belonged] to him.
N’abatwala ne byonna bye yalina n’abasomosa omugga.
24 And he remained Jacob to only him and he wrestled a man with him until came up the dawn.
Ye Yakobo n’asigala yekka, omusajja n’ameggana naye okutuusa obudde okukya.
25 And he saw that not he prevailed to him and he touched [the] socket of thigh his and it was dislocated [the] socket of [the] thigh of Jacob when wrestled he with him.
Omusajja bwe yalaba nga taasobole Yakobo, n’akoma ku kinywa ky’ekisambi kye. Yakobo n’atandika okuwenyera nga bw’ameggana n’omusajja.
26 And he said let go me for it has come up the dawn and he said not I will let go you that except you have blessed me.
Omusajja n’alyoka agamba Yakobo nti, “Ndeka ŋŋende kubanga obudde bugenda kukya.” Naye Yakobo n’ayogera nti, “Sijja kukuta nga tompadde mukisa.”
27 And he said to him what? [is] name your and he said Jacob.
Omusajja n’amubuuza nti, “Erinnya lyo gw’ani?” N’amuddamu nti, “Yakobo.”
28 And he said not Jacob it will be called again name your that except Israel for you have struggled with God and with people and you have prevailed.
Awo n’amugamba nti, “Tokyaddayo kuyitibwa Yakobo. Wabula onooyitibwanga Isirayiri, kubanga omegganye ne Katonda, awamu n’abantu n’owangula.”
29 And he asked Jacob and he said tell! please name your and he said why? this do you ask to name my and he blessed him there.
Awo ne Yakobo n’amugamba nti, “Mbuulira erinnya lyo.” Naye ye n’amuddamu nti, “Lwaki ombuuza erinnya lyange?” Awo n’amuwa omukisa.
30 And he called Jacob [the] name of the place Peniel for I have seen God face to face and it has been delivered life my.
Yakobo ekifo ekyo kyeyava akiyita Penieri, ng’agamba nti, “Kubanga ndabaganye ne Katonda, kyokka obulamu bwange ne busigalawo.”
31 And it rose to him the sun just when he passed over Penuel and he [was] limping on thigh his.
Enjuba n’evaayo ne mwakako nga bw’asala Penieri, ng’awenyera olw’obuvune mu kisambi kye.
32 There-fore not they eat [the] people of Israel [the] sinew of the tendon which [is] on [the] socket of the thigh until the day this for he touched [the] socket of [the] thigh of Jacob [the] sinew of the tendon.
Abayisirayiri kyebava batalya kinywa ky’ekisambi na buli kati, kubanga ekyo omusajja wa Katonda kye yakomako.
