Genesis 24
1 And Abraham he was old he had come in days and Yahweh he had blessed Abraham in everything.
Tuổi tác cao, Áp-ra-ham được Chúa Hằng Hữu ban phước lành dồi dào.
2 And he said Abraham to servant his old of household his who was ruling over all that [belonged] to him put please hand your under thigh my.
Áp-ra-ham bảo người quản gia, một nô bộc lớn tuổi nhất trong nhà: “Con hãy đặt tay con trên đùi ta.
3 So I may make swear you by Yahweh [the] God of the heavens and [the] God of the earth that not you will take a wife for son my from [the] daughters of the Canaanite[s] whom I [am] dwelling in midst its.
Ta muốn con nhân danh Chúa Hằng Hữu, Chủ Tể trời đất, mà thề rằng con sẽ không cưới người Ca-na-an làm vợ cho con ta là Y-sác, dù ta kiều ngụ trong xứ họ;
4 For to land my and to kindred my you will go and you will take a wife for son my for Isaac.
con sẽ đi về quê hương ta, cưới cho Y-sác, con ta, một người vợ trong vòng bà con ta.”
5 And he said to him the servant perhaps not she will be willing the woman to go after me to the land this ¿ really will I take back son your to the land where you came out from there.
Quản gia đáp: “Con chỉ ngại không có cô nào chịu bỏ quê hương để đi đến xứ này lấy chồng. Con có nên đưa Y-sác về quê vợ không?”
6 And he said to him Abraham take heed to yourself lest you should take back son my there towards.
Áp-ra-ham quả quyết: “Tuyệt đối không! Con không bao giờ được đem Y-sác trở lại xứ ấy.
7 Yahweh - [the] God of the heavens who he took me from [the] household of father my and from [the] land of kindred my and who he spoke to me and who he swore an oath to me saying to offspring your I will give the land this he he will send angel his before you and you will take a wife for son my from there.
Chúa Hằng Hữu, Chủ Tể trời đất, đã đem ta ra khỏi nhà cha ta, nơi chôn nhau cắt rốn, đã phán dạy ta, và thề với ta: ‘Ta sẽ cho dòng giống con đất này.’ Chúa sẽ sai thiên sứ Ngài đi trước, dẫn dắt con qua đó để cưới vợ cho Y-sác.
8 And if not she will be willing the woman to go after you and you will be free from oath my this only son my not you must take back there towards.
Nếu cô dâu nhất định không theo con về đây, con sẽ khỏi mắc lời thề này. Dù sao, tuyệt đối không bao giờ được đem con ta về xứ ấy.”
9 And he put the servant hand his under [the] thigh of Abraham master his and he swore an oath to him on the matter this.
Quản gia đặt tay lên đùi Áp-ra-ham và thề nguyện như lời chủ dặn.
10 And he took the servant ten camels from [the] camels of master his and he went and every good thing of master his [was] in hand his and he arose and he went to Aram Naharaim to [the] city of Nahor.
Quản gia chọn mười con lạc đà chuyên chở đủ các loại bảo vật của chủ và lên đường. Đến thành phố của Na-cô, xứ Mê-sô-pô-ta-mi,
11 And he made kneel the camels from [the] outside of the city to [the] well of the water to [the] time of evening to [the] time of [the] going out of the [women who] draw water.
quản gia cho lạc đà dừng lại, và chúng quỳ xuống nghỉ chân bên giếng, đúng vào giờ phụ nữ trong thành ra múc nước.
12 And he said - O Yahweh [the] God of master my Abraham make happen please before me this day and do covenant loyalty with master my Abraham.
Quản gia cầu nguyện: “Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Áp-ra-ham, chủ con: Xin cho cô ấy gặp con hôm nay, để chứng tỏ lòng nhân từ của Chúa đối với Áp-ra-ham.
13 Here! I [am] standing at [the] spring of the water and [the] daughters of [the] people of the city [are] coming out to draw water.
Con đang đứng đây, bên giếng, và các thiếu nữ trong thành sắp ra múc nước.
14 And it will be the young woman whom I will say to her bend down please jar your so I may drink and she will say drink and also camels your I will give a drink to her you have appointed for servant your for Isaac and by it I will know that you have done covenant loyalty with master my.
Khi con xin cô nào cho con uống nước, mà cô ấy đáp: ‘Ông cứ uống đi; tôi sẽ cho bầy lạc đà ông uống nữa,’ xin Chúa cho cô ấy đúng là người Chúa chỉ định cho Y-sác, đầy tớ Chúa. Nhờ đó, con mới biết rõ Chúa đã tỏ lòng nhân từ với chủ con.”
15 And it was he not yet he had finished to speak and there! Rebekah [was] coming out who she had been born to Bethuel [the] son of Milcah [the] wife of Nahor [the] brother of Abraham and jar her [was] on shoulder her.
Quản gia chưa dứt lời cầu nguyện thì Rê-bê-ca vác bình ra đến giếng. Nàng là con của Bê-tu-ên, cháu bà Minh-ca. Bà này là vợ Na-cô, em của Áp-ra-ham.
16 And the young woman [was] good of appearance exceedingly a virgin and a man not he had known her and she went down the spring towards and she filled jar her and she came up.
Rê-bê-ca là một thiếu nữ tuyệt đẹp và trinh trắng. Nàng xuống giếng, múc đầy bình nước, đặt trên vai, rồi bước lên.
17 And he ran the servant to meet her and he said give to drink me please a little of water from jar your.
Quản gia chạy đến nói: “Xin cô vui lòng cho tôi uống ngụm nước trong bình.”
18 And she said drink O lord my and she hurried and she put down jar her on hand her and she gave a drink him.
Nàng dịu dàng đáp: “Thưa vâng, mời ông tự nhiên.” Vừa nói, nàng vội vã đỡ bình nước xuống, bưng mời quản gia uống.
19 And she finished to give a drink him and she said also for camels your I will draw water until they have finished to drink.
Quản gia uống xong, nàng sốt sắng: “Để tôi múc thêm nước cho lạc đà ông uống nữa, cho đến khi nào chúng uống đã khát.”
20 And she hurried and she emptied jar her into the watering channel and she ran again to the well to draw water and she drew water for all camels his.
Nàng nhanh nhẹn trút bình vào máng nước rồi chạy xuống giếng, và múc thêm nước cho cả đàn lạc đà uống.
21 And the man [was] gazing to her being silent to know ¿ had he made successful Yahweh journey his or? not.
Quản gia đứng lặng nhìn Rê-bê-ca, suy nghiệm xem đây có phải là cách Chúa Hằng Hữu dẫn dắt mình hay không.
22 And it was just as they had finished the camels to drink and he took the man a ring of gold [was] a beka weight its and two bracelets on hands her [was] ten of gold weight their.
Khi đàn lạc đà uống nước xong, quản gia lấy ra một chiếc khoen vàng nặng khoảng năm chỉ và một đôi vòng vàng, mỗi chiếc khoảng năm lạng.
23 And he said daughter of whom? [are] you tell please to me ¿ [is] there [the] house of father your room for us to stay [the] night.
Và hỏi: “Cô là con ai? Nhà cô có chỗ cho tôi nghỉ tạm tối nay không?”
24 And she said to him [am] [the] daughter of Bethuel I [the] son of Milcah whom she bore to Nahor.
Nàng đáp: “Tôi là con gái ông Bê-tu-ên, cháu cụ Minh-ca. Ông nội tôi là cụ Na-cô.
25 And she said to him both straw as well as fodder much which [is] with us also room to stay [the] night.
Nhà tôi có nhiều rơm với thức ăn cho lạc đà, và cũng có phòng trọ cho khách nữa.”
26 And he bowed low the man and he bowed down to Yahweh.
Quản gia cảm kích và cúi đầu thờ phượng Chúa Hằng Hữu.
27 And he said [be] blessed Yahweh [the] God of master my Abraham who not he has left covenant loyalty his and faithfulness his from with master my I on the journey he has led me Yahweh [the] house of [the] relatives of master my.
Ông nói: “Cảm tạ Chúa Hằng Hữu là Đức Chúa Trời của Áp-ra-ham, chủ con. Cảm tạ Chúa vì lòng nhân từ, thành tín đối với người, khi Ngài dắt con đến đúng ngay gia đình bà con của Áp-ra-ham.”
28 And she ran the young woman and she told to [the] household of mother her according to the things these.
Trong khi đó, Rê-bê-ca chạy về nhà thuật mọi chuyện cho cả nhà mẹ mình.
29 And [belonged] to Rebekah a brother and name his [was] Laban and he ran Laban to the man the outside towards to the spring.
Bấy giờ Rê-bê-ca có một người anh tên là La-ban, và người vội ra chỗ người quản gia, bên giếng nước.
30 And it was - when saw the ring and the bracelets on [the] hands of sister his and just as heard he [the] words of Rebekah sister his saying thus he spoke to me the man and he went to the man and there! [he was] standing with the camels at the spring.
La-ban, anh nàng, thấy chiếc khoen với đôi vòng vàng trên tay em, và nghe em thuật chuyện, liền chạy ra giếng. Quản gia vẫn còn đứng đó với bầy lạc đà. La-ban nói:
31 And he said come O [one] blessed of Yahweh why? are you standing on the outside and I I have made clear the house and a place for the camels.
“Ông là người được Chúa Hằng Hữu ban phước. Xin mời vào, sao đứng ngoài này vậy? Nhà tôi có sẵn phòng ngủ cho ông và chỗ cho lạc đà.”
32 And he went the man the house towards and he unharnessed the camels and he gave straw and fodder to the camels and water to wash feet his and [the] feet of the men who [were] with him.
Quản gia theo La-ban về nhà. La-ban đem rơm lót chỗ lạc đà nằm, cho chúng ăn, và lấy nước cho mấy người đầy tớ rửa chân.
33 (And it was put *Q(K)*) before him to eat and he said not I will eat until I have spoken words my and he said speak.
Thức ăn đã dọn ra rồi, nhưng quản gia còn lần lữa: “Tôi không dám ăn uống trước khi nói ra điều tôi cần phải thưa.” La-ban giục: “Ông cứ nói đi.”
34 And he said [am] [the] servant of Abraham I.
Quản gia đáp: “Tôi là đầy tớ của Áp-ra-ham.
35 And Yahweh he has blessed master my exceedingly and he has become great and he has given to him sheep and cattle and silver and gold and [male] servants and female servants and camels and donkeys.
Chúa Hằng Hữu ban phước dồi dào cho chủ tôi, làm cho người ngày càng cường thịnh. Chúa Hằng Hữu cho người nhiều gia súc, bạc vàng, tôi trai tớ gái, lạc đà, và lừa.
36 And she has borne Sarah [the] wife of master my a son to master my after old age her and he has given to him all that [belongs] to him.
Bà Sa-ra, chủ tôi, sinh một con trai trong tuổi già nua, và cậu con trai được hưởng trọn gia tài.
37 And he made swear an oath me master my saying not (you must take *LA(bh)*) a wife for son my from [the] daughters of the Canaanite[s] whom I [am] dwelling in land its.
Chủ tôi buộc tôi thề không được cưới cho cậu một người nào trong số các thiếu nữ Ca-na-an, là xứ chủ tôi trú ngụ,
38 If not to [the] house of father my you will go and to family my and you will take a wife for son my.
nhưng phải về quê cha đất tổ của chủ, và tìm cho cậu một người vợ trong gia đình chủ tôi.
39 And I said to master my perhaps not she will go the woman after me.
Tôi có thưa lại chủ: ‘Nếu người thiếu nữ không chịu theo tôi về thì sao?’
40 And he said to me Yahweh whom I have walked about before him he will send angel his with you and he will make successful journey your and you will take a wife for son my from family my and from [the] household of father my.
Chủ tôi bảo: ‘Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ sai thiên sứ đi với anh và giúp anh thành công. Anh sẽ tìm cho con ta một người vợ trong họ hàng ta, con cháu của cha ta.
41 Then you will be free from oath my for you will go to family my and if not they will give [her] to you and you will be free from oath my.
Một khi anh đã đến thăm gia đình ta, nếu họ không chịu gả, anh khỏi mắc lời thề nguyện này.’
42 And I came this day to the spring and I said O Yahweh [the] God of master my Abraham if [are] there you please [are] making successful journey my which I [am] going on it.
Chiều nay, khi đến giếng nước, tôi đã cầu nguyện: ‘Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Áp-ra-ham, chủ con, nếu Chúa cho con thành công trong công tác này, xin Chúa hướng dẫn con:
43 Here! I [am] standing at [the] spring of the water and it will be the young woman who will come out to draw water and I will say to her give to drink me please a little of water from jar your.
Trong khi con đứng bên giếng và các thiếu nữ ra múc nước, nếu con xin cô nào cho con uống nước trong bình,
44 And she will say to me both you drink and also for camels your I will draw water she [be] the woman whom he has appointed Yahweh for [the] son of master my.
mà cô ấy đáp: “Mời ông uống nước, và tôi cũng sẽ múc nước cho các lạc đà ông uống nữa”—thì cô ấy đúng là người vợ Chúa chọn cho con trai chủ con.’
45 I not yet I had finished to speak to heart my and there! Rebekah [was] coming out and jar her [was] on shoulder her and she went down the spring towards and she drew water and I said to her give a drink me please.
Tôi chưa dứt lời thầm nguyện, tôi đã thấy cô Rê-bê-ca ra đến giếng và vác bình trên vai xuống giếng múc nước. Tôi hỏi cô: ‘Xin cô cho tôi uống nước với.’
46 And she hurried and she put down jar her from on her and she said drink and also camels your I will give a drink to and I drank and also the camels she gave a drink.
Cô lập tức hạ bình xuống khỏi vai và đon đả đáp: ‘Mời ông uống nước, và tôi cũng sẽ múc nước cho các lạc đà ông uống nữa.’ Cho tôi uống đã khát xong, cô lại múc nước cho các lạc đà tôi uống.
47 And I asked her and I said daughter of whom? [are] you and she said [the] daughter of Bethuel [the] son of Nahor whom she bore to him Milcah and I put the ring on nose her and the bracelets on hands her.
Tôi hỏi: ‘Cô con ai?’ Cô đáp: ‘Tôi là con của Bê-tu-ên, cháu hai cụ Na-cô và Minh-ca.’ Tôi đã đeo vòng và đôi xuyến cho cô.
48 And I bowed low and I bowed down to Yahweh and I blessed Yahweh [the] God of master my Abraham who he had led me in [the] way of truth to take [the] daughter of [the] brother of master my for son his.
Tôi cúi đầu thờ phượng Chúa Hằng Hữu và ca ngợi Chân Thần của chủ tôi, Áp-ra-ham, vì Ngài đã hướng dẫn tôi đi đúng đường, để cưới con gái ông về cho con trai chủ tôi.
49 And now if [are] there you doing loyalty and faithfulness with master my tell to me and if not tell to me so I may turn to right or to left.
Vậy, để tỏ lòng ưu ái và trung thành với chủ tôi, xin quý vị cứ thẳng thắn trả lời được hay không, để tôi biết phải làm gì bây giờ.”
50 And he answered Laban and Bethuel and they said from Yahweh it has come out the matter not we are able to speak to you evil or good.
La-ban và Bê-tu-ên đáp: “Việc này do Chúa Hằng Hữu xếp đặt, chúng tôi đâu dám nói được hay không.
51 Here! Rebekah [is] before you take [her] and go so may she be a wife for [the] son of master your just as he has spoken Yahweh.
Kìa, Rê-bê-ca đứng trước mặt anh đó. Anh hãy rước nó về làm vợ cho con trai chủ anh, như Chúa Hằng Hữu đã phán bảo.”
52 And it was just as he heard [the] servant of Abraham words their and he bowed down [the] ground towards to Yahweh.
Quản gia của Áp-ra-ham nghe vậy, liền quỳ xuống trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu
53 And he brought out the servant articles of silver and articles of gold and garments and he gave [them] to Rebekah and precious gifts he gave to brother her and to mother her.
và trao các lễ vật cho Rê-bê-ca là các nữ trang bằng vàng, bằng bạc, và các bộ y phục quý giá. Quản gia cũng tặng bà Bê-tu-ên và La-ban nhiều bảo vật.
54 And they ate and they drank he and the men who [were] with him and they stayed [the] night and they arose in the morning and he said send away me to master my.
Đoạn, họ đãi tiệc ăn mừng. Ê-li-ê-se và đoàn tùy tùng ở lại nhà Bê-tu-ên đêm ấy. Sáng hôm sau, họ dậy sớm. Ê-li-ê-se yêu cầu: “Xin cho phép tôi được quay về nhà chủ tôi.”
55 And he said brother her and mother her let her remain the young woman with us days or ten (after *L(S)*) she will go.
Bà Bê-tu-ên và La-ban (anh của Rê-bê-ca) ngăn cản: “Gì mà vội thế! Cứ để cho nó ở nhà với chúng tôi đã, độ mười ngày nữa hãy đi.”
56 And he said to them may not you delay me and Yahweh he has made successful journey my send away me so let me go to master my.
Nhưng quản gia thưa: “Nhờ Chúa Hằng Hữu hướng dẫn tôi nên việc đã thành công, xin thông cảm và cho phép tôi trở về trình chủ tôi.”
57 And they said let us summon the young woman and let us ask mouth her.
Họ đáp: “Để chúng tôi hỏi ý nó xem sao.”
58 And they summoned Rebekah and they said to her ¿ will you go with the man this and she said I will go.
Họ gọi Rê-bê-ca vào hỏi: “Con muốn đi theo ông này không?” Nàng đáp: “Thưa vâng, con muốn đi.”
59 And they sent away Rebekah sister their and suckling-nurse her and [the] servant of Abraham and men his.
Vậy, họ đưa Rê-bê-ca với bà vú nuôi của nàng lên đường, đi theo quản gia và các đầy tớ của Áp-ra-ham.
60 And they blessed Rebekah and they said to her O sister our you become thousands of ten thousand so may it take possession of offspring your [the] gate of [those who] hate it.
La-ban chúc phước cho Rê-bê-ca: “Cầu chúc cho dòng dõi của em sẽ đông đảo hàng nghìn hàng vạn! Nguyện dòng dõi em mạnh mẽ và chiếm được cổng thành quân địch.”
61 And she arose Rebekah and maids her and they rode on the camels and they went after the man and he took the servant Rebekah and he went.
Rê-bê-ca và các nữ tì đứng dậy, cưỡi lạc đà và đi theo quản gia. Quản gia cùng Rê-bê-ca và các đầy tớ của Áp-ra-ham lên đường.
62 And Isaac he came from going Beer Lahai Roi and he [was] dwelling in [the] land of the Negev.
Y-sác đang ở Nê-ghép và từ giếng La-chai-roi đến đây; vì ông đang ở miền nam.
63 And he went out Isaac to meditate in the field to [the] turning of evening and he lifted up eyes his and he saw and there! camels [were] coming.
Một buổi tối, Y-sác ra ngoài đồng suy ngẫm, chợt thấy một đoàn lạc đà.
64 And she lifted up Rebekah eyes her and she saw Isaac and she fell from on the camel.
Vừa trông thấy Y-sác, Rê-bê-ca vội vã xuống lạc đà và
65 And she said to the servant who? [is] the man this who is walking in the field to meet us and he said the servant it [is] master my and she took the veil and she covered herself.
hỏi Ê-li-ê-se: “Có người đang vượt qua cánh đồng đi đón chúng ta, người đó là ai?” Ông đáp: “Con trai chủ tôi đó!” Rê-bê-ca lập tức lấy tấm voan phủ mặt mình.
66 And he recounted the servant to Isaac all the things which he had done.
Quản gia trình báo đầy đủ mọi việc cho Y-sác.
67 And he brought her Isaac the tent of towards Sarah mother his and he took Rebekah and she became of him a wife and he loved her and he was comforted Isaac after mother his.
Y-sác đưa Rê-bê-ca vào trại của mẹ mình và cưới nàng làm vợ. Y-sác yêu Rê-bê-ca và được an ủi phần nào sau những ngày chịu tang mẹ.
