Genesis 21
1 And Yahweh he visited Sarah just as he had said and he did Yahweh to Sarah just as he had spoken.
Yahweh visita Sara, comme il l’avait dit; Yahweh accomplit pour Sara ce qu’il avait promis.
2 And she conceived and she bore Sarah to Abraham a son of old age his to the appointed time which he had spoken with him God.
Sara conçut et enfanta à Abraham un fils dans sa vieillesse, au terme que Dieu lui avait marqué.
3 And he called Abraham [the] name of son his who had been born to him whom she had borne to him Sarah Isaac.
Abraham donna au fils qui lui était né, que Sara lui avait enfanté, le nom d’Isaac.
4 And he circumcised Abraham Isaac son his a son of eight days just as he had commanded him God.
Et Abraham circoncit Isaac, son fils, à l’âge de huit jours, comme Dieu le lui avait ordonné.
5 And Abraham [was] a son of one hundred year[s] when was born to him Isaac son his.
Abraham avait cent ans à la naissance d’Isaac, son fils.
6 And she said Sarah laughter he has made for me God everyone who hears he will laugh to me.
Et Sara dit: « Dieu m’a donné de quoi rire; quiconque l’apprendra rira à mon sujet. »
7 And she said who? has he said to Abraham she has suckled children Sarah for I have borne a son of old age his.
Elle ajouta: « Qui eût dit à Abraham: Sara allaitera des enfants? Car j’ai donné un fils à sa vieillesse. »
8 And he grew up the child and he was weaned and he prepared Abraham a feast great on [the] day was weaned Isaac.
L’enfant grandit, et on le sevra. Abraham fit un grand festin le jour où Isaac fut sevré.
9 And she saw Sarah [the] son of Hagar the Egyptian whom she had borne to Abraham mocking.
Sara vit le fils d’Agar, l’Égyptienne, qu’elle avait enfanté à Abraham, qui riait,
10 And she said to Abraham drive out the slave woman this and son her for not he will inherit [the] son of the slave woman this with son my with Isaac.
et elle dit à Abraham: « Chasse cette servante et son fils; car le fils de cette servante ne doit pas hériter avec mon fils, avec Isaac. »
11 And it was displeasing the matter exceedingly in [the] eyes of Abraham on [the] causes of son his.
Cette parole déplut beaucoup aux yeux d’Abraham, à cause de son fils Ismaël.
12 And he said God to Abraham may not it be displeasing in view your on the lad and on slave woman your all that she says to you Sarah listen to voice her for in Isaac it will be named of you offspring.
Mais Dieu dit à Abraham: « Que cela ne déplaise pas à tes yeux, à cause de l’enfant et de ta servante; quoi que Sara te demande, consens-y, car c’est d’Isaac que naîtra la postérité qui portera ton nom.
13 And also [the] son of the slave woman into a nation I will make him for [is] offspring your he.
Néanmoins du fils de la servante je ferai aussi une nation, parce qu’il est né de toi. »
14 And he rose early Abraham - in the morning and he took food and a skin of water and he gave [them] to Hagar placing on shoulder her and the boy and he sent away her and she went and she wandered in [the] wilderness of Beer Sheba.
Abraham s’étant levé de bon matin, prit du pain et une outre d’eau, les donna à Agar et les mit sur son épaule; il lui remit aussi l’enfant, et il la renvoya. Elle s’en alla, errant dans le désert de Bersabée.
15 And they were finished the water from the skin and she threw the boy under one of the bushes.
Quand l’eau qui était dans l’outre fut épuisée, elle jeta l’enfant sous l’un des arbrisseaux,
16 And she went and she sat for herself from before at a distance like [the] shooters of a bow for she said may not I look on [the] death of the boy and she sat from before and she lifted up voice her and she wept.
et elle s’en alla s’asseoir vis-à-vis, à une portée d’arc; car elle disait: « Je ne veux pas voir mourir l’enfant. » Elle s’assit donc vis-à-vis, éleva la voix et pleura.
17 And he heard God [the] sound of the lad and he called [the] angel of God - to Hagar from the heavens and he said to her what? [is] to you O Hagar may not you be afraid for he has heard God [the] sound of the lad at where he [is] there.
Dieu entendit la voix de l’enfant, et l’ange de Dieu appela du ciel Agar, en disant: « Qu’as-tu Agar? Ne crains point, car Dieu a entendu la voix de l’enfant, dans le lieu où il est.
18 Arise lift up the lad and take hold hand your on him for into a nation great I will make him.
Lève-toi, relève l’enfant, prends-le par la main, car je ferai de lui une grande nation. »
19 And he opened God eyes her and she saw a well of water and she went and she filled the skin water and she gave a drink to the lad.
Et Dieu lui ouvrit les yeux, et elle vit un puits d’eau; elle alla remplir l’outre d’eau et donna à boire à l’enfant.
20 And he was God with the lad and he grew up and he dwelt in the wilderness and he was a shooter a bowman.
Dieu fut avec l’enfant, et il grandit; il habita dans le désert et devint un tireur d’arc.
21 And he dwelt in [the] wilderness of Paran and she took for him mother his a wife from [the] land of Egypt.
Il habitait dans le désert de Pharan, et sa mère prit pour lui une femme du pays d’Égypte.
22 And it was at the time that and he said Abimelech and Phicol [the] commander of army his to Abraham saying God [is] with you in all that you [are] doing.
En ce temps-là, Abimélech, accompagné de Phicol, chef de son armée, parla ainsi à Abraham: « Dieu est avec toi dans tout ce que tu fais.
23 And therefore swear! to me by God here if you will deal falsely to me and to posterity my and to progeny my according to the loyalty which I have done with you you will do with me and with the land which you have sojourned in it.
Jure-moi donc ici, par le nom de Dieu, que tu ne tromperas ni moi, ni mes enfants, ni mes petits-enfants, mais que tu auras pour moi et pour ce pays où tu séjournes la même bienveillance dont j’ai usé envers toi. »
24 And he said Abraham I I will swear.
Abraham dit: « Je le jurerai. »
25 And he rebuked Abraham Abimelech on [the] causes of [the] well of water which they had seized [the] servants of Abimelech.
Mais Abraham fit des reproches à Abimélech au sujet d’un puits d’eau dont les serviteurs d’Abimélech s’étaient emparés de force.
26 And he said Abimelech not I know who? has he done the thing this and also you not you told to me and also I not I heard except this day.
Abimélech répondit: « J’ignore qui a fait cela; toi-même tu ne m’en as pas informé, et je n’en ai entendu parler qu’aujourd’hui. »
27 And he took Abraham sheep and cattle and he gave [them] to Abimelech and they made [the] two of them a covenant.
Et Abraham prit des brebis et des bœufs, et les donna à Abimélech, et ils firent alliance tous deux.
28 And he set Abraham seven ewe-lambs of the flock to alone them.
Abraham mit à part sept jeunes brebis du troupeau,
29 And he said Abimelech to Abraham what? [are] they seven ewe-lambs these which you have set to alone them.
et Abimélech dit à Abraham: « Qu’est-ce que ces sept jeunes brebis, que tu as mises à part? »
30 And he said that seven ewe-lambs you will take from hand my in order that it may become for me a witness for I dug the well this.
Il répondit: « Tu accepteras de ma main ces sept jeunes brebis, afin que ce soit pour moi un témoignage que j’ai creusé ce puits. »
31 There-fore he called the place that Beer Sheba for there they swore an oath [the] two of them.
C’est pourquoi on a appelé ce lieu Bersabée, parce que c’est là qu’ils ont tous deux prêté serment.
32 And they made a covenant at Beer Sheba and he arose Abimelech and Phicol [the] commander of army his and they returned to [the] land of [the] Philistines.
C’est ainsi qu’ils firent alliance à Bersabée. Après quoi Abimélech se leva, avec Phicol, chef de son armée, et ils retournèrent au pays des Philistins.
33 And he planted a tamarisk tree in Beer Sheba and he called there on [the] name of Yahweh [the] God of perpetuity.
Abraham planta un tamaris à Bersabée, et il invoqua là le nom de Yahweh, Dieu éternel;
34 And he sojourned Abraham in [the] land of [the] Philistines days many.
