Genesis 12
1 And he said Yahweh to Abram go for yourself from land your and from kindred your and from [the] household of father your to the land which I will show you.
Jahweh sprak tot Abram: Trek weg uit uw land, Uit uw stam en uit het huis uws vaders Naar het land, dat Ik u tonen zal.
2 So I may make you into a nation great and I will bless you and I will make great name your and you be a blessing.
Ik zal een groot volk van u maken, U zegenen en uw naam beroemd maken, Zodat hij ten zegen zal zijn.
3 So let me bless [those who] bless you and [one who] disdains you I will curse and they will be blessed by you all [the] clans of the earth.
Ik zal zegenen, die u zegent, Vervloeken, die u vervloekt. En in u zullen alle geslachten der aarde worden gezegend.
4 And he went Abram just as he had said to him Yahweh and he went with him Lot and Abram [was] a son of five years and seventy year[s] when came out he from Haran.
Toen vertrok Abram, zoals Jahweh hem bevolen had, en Lot ging met hem mee; Abram was vijf en zeventig jaar oud, toen hij uit Charan wegtrok.
5 And he took Abram Sarai wife his and Lot [the] son of brother his and all possession[s] their which they had accumulated and the person[s] whom they had acquired in Haran and they went out to go [the] land of towards Canaan and they came [the] land of towards Canaan.
Abram nam Sarai, zijn vrouw, en zijn neef Lot met zich mee, met heel hun bezit, en al de slaven, die zij in Charan hadden verworven; ze gingen op weg naar het land Kanaän, en kwamen daar aan.
6 And he passed Abram in the land to [the] place of Shechem to [the] great tree of Moreh and the Canaanite[s] then [was] in the land.
Abram trok het land door tot de plaats Sikem, en de eik van More. De Kanaänieten woonden toen nog in het land.
7 And he appeared Yahweh to Abram and he said to offspring your I will give the land this and he built there an altar to Yahweh who had appeared to him.
Nu verscheen Jahweh aan Abram, en sprak: Dit land zal Ik aan uw nageslacht geven. Toen bouwde hij daar een altaar ter ere van Jahweh, die hem verschenen was.
8 And he moved on from there the hill country towards from [the] east of Beth-el and he pitched (tent his *Q(K)*) Beth-el [was] from [the] west and Ai [was] from [the] east and he built there an altar to Yahweh and he called on [the] name of Yahweh.
Vandaar reisde hij verder naar het bergland ten oosten van Betel, en sloeg zijn tent op tussen Betel ten westen en Ai ten oosten; daar bouwde hij een altaar voor Jahweh, en riep de naam van Jahweh aan.
9 And he journeyed Abram going and journeying the south towards.
Daarna trok Abram steeds verder naar het zuiden.
10 And it was a famine in the land and he went down Abram Egypt towards to sojourn there for [was] heavy the famine in the land.
Toen er in het land eens hongersnood uitbrak, zakte Abram naar Egypte af, om daar enige tijd te verblijven; want de hongersnood teisterde het land hevig.
11 And it was just as he drew near to enter Egypt and he said to Sarai wife his here! please I know that [are] a woman beautiful of appearance you.
Maar op het punt Egypte binnen te trekken, zeide hij tot Sarai, zijn vrouw: Luister; ik weet, dat gij een mooie vrouw zijt.
12 And it will be that they will see you the Egyptians and they will say [is] wife his this and they will kill me and you they will let live.
Als de Egyptenaren u zien, en denken: dat is zijn vrouw, dan zullen ze mij vermoorden, maar u in leven laten.
13 Say please [are] sister my you so that it may go well for me for sake of you and it will live life my on account of you.
Zeg dus, dat gij mijn zuster zijt, dan zal het mij goed gaan om wille van u, en zal ik om uwentwil gespaard blijven.
14 And it was when entered Abram Egypt and they saw the Egyptians the woman that [was] beautiful she very.
Zodra Abram nu in Egypte was gekomen, zagen de Egyptenaren, hoe buitengewoon mooi die vrouw was.
15 And they saw her [the] officials of Pharaoh and they praised her to Pharaoh and she was taken the woman [the] house of Pharaoh.
En toen Farao’s hovelingen haar zagen, roemden zij haar bij Farao, met het gevolg, dat de vrouw in het paleis van Farao werd gehaald.
16 And to Abram he did good for sake of her and it be[longed] to him sheep and cattle and [male] donkeys and [male] servants and female servants and female donkeys and camels.
Hij overlaadde Abram om wille van haar met weldaden, zodat hij schapen, runderen en ezels, slaven en slavinnen, ezelinnen en kamelen ontving.
17 And he struck Yahweh - Pharaoh plagues great and house his on [the] matter of Sarai [the] wife of Abram.
Maar Jahweh trof Farao en zijn huis met zware slagen naar aanleiding van Sarai, de vrouw van Abram.
18 And he summoned Pharaoh Abram and he said what? this have you done to me why? not did you tell to me that [was] wife your she.
Toen ontbood Farao Abram, en zeide: Wat hebt ge mij daar aangedaan; waarom hebt ge mij niet meegedeeld, dat het uw vrouw is?
19 Why? did you say [is] sister my she and I took her for myself to a wife and now here! wife your take [her] and go.
Waarom hebt ge gezegd: het is mijn zuster; zodat ik ze mij tot vrouw heb genomen. Daar hebt ge uw vrouw terug; neem haar mee en vertrek.
20 And he commanded on him Pharaoh men and they sent away him and wife his and all that [belonged] to him.
En Farao gaf aan enige mannen bevel, om hem en zijn vrouw, met alles wat hem toebehoorde, uitgeleide te doen.
