Ezra 4
1 And they heard [the] opponents of Judah and Benjamin that [the] children of the exile [were] building a temple for Yahweh [the] God of Israel.
Und die Feinde Judas und Benjamins hörten, daß die Kinder der Wegführung Jehova, dem Gott Israels, einen Tempel bauten;
2 And they approached Zerubbabel and [the] heads of the fathers and they said to them let us build with you for like you we seek God your (and to him *Q(K)*) we [have been] sacrificing since [the] days of Esar-haddon [the] king of Assyria who brought up us here.
und sie traten zu Serubbabel und zu den Häuptern der Väter und sprachen zu ihnen: Wir wollen mit euch bauen; denn wir suchen euren Gott wie ihr; und ihm opfern wir seit den Tagen Esar-Haddons, des Königs von Assyrien, der uns hierher heraufgeführt hat. [Vergl. 2. Kön. 17]
3 And he said to them Zerubbabel and Jeshua and [the] rest of [the] heads of the fathers of Israel not for you and for us to build a house for God our for we together we will build [it] for Yahweh [the] God of Israel just as he commanded us the king Cyrus [the] king of Persia.
Aber Serubbabel und Jeschua und die übrigen Häupter der Väter Israels sprachen zu ihnen: Es geziemt euch nicht, mit uns unserem Gott ein Haus zu bauen; sondern wir allein wollen Jehova, dem Gott Israels, bauen, wie der König Kores, der König von Persien, uns geboten hat.
4 And it was [the] people of the land [were] making slack [the] hands of [the] people of Judah (and [were] terrifying *Q(K)*) them to build.
Da suchte das Volk des Landes die Hände des Volkes Juda schlaff zu machen und sie vom Bauen abzuschrecken.
5 And [were] hiring on them counselors to frustrate purpose their all [the] days of Cyrus [the] king of Persia and until [the] reign of Darius [the] king of Persia.
Und sie dingten Ratgeber wider sie, um ihren Plan zu vereiteln, alle die Tage Kores, des Königs von Persien, und bis zur Regierung Darius, des Königs von Persien.
6 And in [the] reign of Ahasuerus at [the] beginning of reign his they wrote an accusation on [the] inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.
Und unter der Regierung des Ahasveros, im Anfange seiner Regierung, schrieben sie eine Anklage wider die Bewohner von Juda und Jerusalem. -
7 And in [the] days of Artaxerxes he wrote Bishlam Mithredath Tabeel and [the] rest of (colleagues his *Q(K)*) to (Artaxerxes *Q(k)*) [the] king of Persia and [the] writing of the letter [was] written Aramaic and [was] translated Aramaic.
Und in den Tagen Artasastas schrieben Bischlam, Mithredath, Tabeel und seine übrigen Genossen an Artasasta, den König von Persien. Die Schrift des Briefes war aber aramäisch geschrieben und ins Aramäische übersetzt. [d. h. aramäisch verfaßt]
8 Rehum lord of command and Shimshai scribe the they wrote a letter one concerning Jerusalem to Artaxerxes king the as follows.
Rechum, der Statthalter, und Schimschai, der Schreiber, schrieben an Artasasta, den König, einen Brief wider Jerusalem also: -
9 Then Rehum lord of command and Shimshai scribe the and [the] rest of associates their Dinay the and officials the Tarpelites the Sipparites the (Erechites the *Q(K)*) Babylonians the Susanchites the (Dehavites the *Q(K)*) Elamites the.
damals schrieben nämlich Rechum, der Statthalter, und Schimschai, der Schreiber, und ihre übrigen Genossen, Diniter und Apharsathkiter, Tarpeliter, Apharsiter, Arkewiter, Babylonier, Susaniter, Dehiter und Elamiter,
10 And [the] rest of nations the which he took into exile Osnappar great and honorable and he caused to dwell them in [the] city of Samaria and [the] rest of [the] region beyond river the and now.
und die übrigen Völker, welche der große und erlauchte Osnappar wegführte und in den Städten Samarias [Vergl. 2. Kön. 17. 24] und in dem übrigen Gebiete jenseit des Stromes wohnen ließ, und so weiter: -
11 This [is] [the] copy of letter the which they sent to him to Artaxerxes king the (servant your *Q(K)*) [the] man of [the] region beyond river the and now.
dies ist die Abschrift des Briefes, den sie an ihn, an den König Artasasta, sandten: Deine Knechte, die Männer diesseit des Stromes, und so weiter.
12 Known let it be to king the that Jews the who they came up from beside you to us they have come to Jerusalem city the rebellious (and evil *Q(k)*) [they are] building (and walls the they have finished *Q(K)*) and foundations the they are repairing.
Es sei dem König kundgetan, daß die Juden, die von dir heraufgezogen, zu uns nach Jerusalem gekommen sind; sie bauen die aufrührerische und böse Stadt wieder auf, und vollenden die Mauern und bessern die Grundlagen aus.
13 Now known let it be to king the that if city the this it will be built and walls the they will be finished tribute tax and toll not they will give and certainly kings it will injure.
So sei nun dem König kundgetan, daß, wenn diese Stadt wieder aufgebaut wird, und die Mauern vollendet werden, sie Steuer, Zoll [Eig. Lebensmittelsteuer; so auch v 20;7,24] und Weggeld nicht mehr geben werden, und solches [O. sie, d. h. die Stadt] schließlich die Könige benachteiligen wird.
14 Now as to because that [the] salt of palace the we eat salt and [the] dishonor of king the not ([is] proper *LB(ah)*) for us to see concerning this we have sent and we have made known to king the.
Weil wir nun das Salz des Palastes essen und es uns nicht geziemt, den Schaden des Königs anzusehen, deswegen senden wir und tun es dem König kund,
15 That he will search in [the] book of records the of fathers your so you may find in [the] book of records the so you may know that city the this [is] a city rebellious and injuring kings and provinces and a revolt [it was] making in midst its from [the] days of antiquity on this city the this it was laid waste.
damit man in dem Buche der Denkwürdigkeiten deiner Väter nachsuche; und du wirst in dem Buche der Denkwürdigkeiten finden, und wirst erkennen, daß diese Stadt eine aufrührerische Stadt gewesen ist, und nachteilig den Königen und Ländern, und daß man von den Tagen der Vorzeit her Empörung darin gestiftet hat, weswegen diese Stadt zerstört worden ist.

Wir tun dem König kund, daß, wenn diese Stadt wieder aufgebaut wird, und die Mauern vollendet werden, du deshalb diesseit des Stromes kein Teil mehr haben wirst.
17 Word the he sent king the to Rehum lord of command and Shimshai scribe the and [the] rest of associates their who [were] dwelling in Samaria and [the] rest of [the] region beyond river the peace and now.
Der König sandte eine Antwort an Rechum, den Statthalter, und Schimschai, den Schreiber, und an ihre übrigen Genossen, welche in Samaria und in dem übrigen Gebiete jenseit des Stromes wohnten: Frieden, und so weiter.
18 Letter the which you sent to us made distinct it was read aloud before me.
Der Brief, den ihr an uns gesandt habt, ist deutlich vor mir gelesen worden.
19 And from me it was made a decree and they searched and they found that city the this from [the] days of antiquity against kings [was] rising up and rebellion and revolt [have] been done by it.
Und von mir ist Befehl gegeben worden, und man hat nachgesucht und gefunden, daß diese Stadt von den Tagen der Vorzeit her sich wider die Könige aufgelehnt hat, und daß Aufruhr und Empörung in ihr gestiftet worden sind.
20 And kings strong they were over Jerusalem and having mastery over all [the] region beyond river the and tribute tax and toll [was] being paid to them.
Und mächtige Könige sind über Jerusalem gewesen, die über alles geherrscht haben, was jenseit des Stromes ist; und Steuer, Zoll und Weggeld wurde ihnen gegeben.
21 Now make a decree to make to cease men the these and city the this not it will be built until from me decree the it will be made.
So gebet nun Befehl, diesen Männern zu wehren, damit diese Stadt nicht wieder aufgebaut werde, bis von mir Befehl gegeben wird.
22 And cautious be negligence to do concerning this why? will it grow great damage the to injury kings.
Und hütet euch, hierin einen Fehler zu begehen; warum sollte der Schaden wachsen, um den Königen Nachteil zu bringen?
23 Then from that [the] copy of letter the of (Artaxerxes *Q(k)*) king the it was read aloud before Rehum and Shimshai scribe the and associates their they went in haste to Jerusalem to Jews the and they made to cease them with force and power.
Hierauf, sobald die Abschrift des Briefes des Königs Artasasta vor Rechum und Schimschai, dem Schreiber, und ihren Genossen gelesen war, gingen sie eilends nach Jerusalem zu den Juden, und wehrten ihnen mit Gewalt und Macht.
24 Then it ceased [the] work of [the] house of God which [is] in Jerusalem and it was ceasing until year two of [the] reign of Darius [the] king of Persia.
Damals hörte die Arbeit am Hause Gottes in Jerusalem auf, und sie unterblieb bis zum zweiten Jahre der Regierung des Königs Darius von Persien.
