< Ezekiel 27 >
1 And it came [the] word of Yahweh to me saying.
And the word of Yahweh came unto me, saying:
2 And you O son of humankind take up on Tyre a lamentation.
Thou, therefore, son of man, Take up over Tyre a dirge;
3 And you will say to Tyre (that sits *Q(K)*) at [the] entrances of [the] sea [the] trader of the peoples to islands many thus he says [the] Lord Yahweh O Tyre you you have said I [am] perfect of beauty.
And thou shalt say unto Tyre, O thou that dwellest by the entrances of the sea, Thou merchant of the peoples unto many shores, — Thus, saith My Lord, Yahweh, O Tyre, Thou saidst, I, am the perfection of beauty!
4 [were] in [the] heart of [the] seas Territories your builders your they perfected beauty your.
In the heart of the seas, were thy bounds, —Thy builders perfected thy beauty:
5 Fir trees from Senir they built of you all planks a cedar from Lebanon they took to make a mast on you.
With fir-trees from Senir, but they for thee all the two-decked vessels, — Cedar from Lebanon, fetched they, to make masts for thee:
6 Oaks from Bashan they made oars your boards your they made ivory inlaid in pine from [the] islands of (Kittim. *Q(k)*)
With oaks from Bashan, made they thine oars, — Thy benches, made they of ivory, inlaid with boxwood, From the shores of the West:
7 Fine linen with colorful weaving from Egypt it was sail your to become of you a sail blue and purple from [the] islands of Elishah it was covering your.
Of fine linen with embroidered work from Egypt, was thy sail, To serve thee for ensign, — Blue and purple from the shores of Aeolis became thine awning:
8 [the] inhabitants of Sidon and Arvad they were rowers of you skillful [people] your O Tyre they were in you they [were] sailors your.
the inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad, Became rowers for thee, — Thine own skilled men O Tyre, were within thee, They were thy sailors:
9 [the] elders of Gebal and wise [people] its they were in you [the] repairers of leaks your all [the] ships of the sea and mariners their they were in you to trade merchandise your.
the elders of Byblus and the skilled men thereof, were within thee, Thy calkers, — All the ships of the sea and their mariners, were within thee, To carry on thy traffic,
10 Persia and Lud and Put they were in army your men of war your shield and helmet they hung up in you they they gave splendor your.
They of Persia and Lud and Phut were in thine army, Thy men of war, — Shield and helmet, hung they up within thee, They set forth thy splendour:
11 [the] people of Arvad and Helech [were] on walls your all around and [the] Gammadites in towers your they were shields their they hung up on walls your all around they they perfected beauty your.
The sons of Arvad: with thine army, were upon thy walls round about, And valorous in thy towers, — Their shields, hung they up on thy walls round about, They perfected thy beauty:
12 Tarshish [was] trader your from [the] abundance of all wealth for silver iron tin and lead they exchanged wares your.
Tarshish was a trader of thine. For the abundance of all wealth, — With silver iron. tin and lead, Took they part in thy traffic:
13 Javan Tubal and Meshech they [were] traders your for [the] life of human[s] and vessels of bronze they exchanged merchandise your.
Javan. Tubal and Meshech, They were merchants of thine, — With the persons of men and vessels of bronze, Shared they in thy barter:
14 From Beth Togarmah horses and horsemen and mules they exchanged wares your.
Some of the house of Togarmah, with horses and horsemen and mules, Took part in thy traffic:
15 [the] people of Dedan [were] traders your islands many [were] [the] merchandise of hand your horns of ivory (and ebony *Q(k)*) they brought tribute your.
the sons of Dedan were merchants of thine, Many, isles, took the merchandise of thy hand, —Horns of ivory and ebony, gave they back to thee in exchange:
16 Aram [was] trader your from [the] abundance of products your for turquoise purple and multicolored cloth and fine linen and corals and ruby they exchanged for wares your.
Syria, was a trader of thine For the abundance of thy manufactures, - With carbuncle and purple and embroidery and fine linen and coral and rubies, Took they part in thy traffic:
17 Judah and [the] land of Israel they [were] traders your for [the] wheat of Minnith and cake and honey and oil and balm they exchanged merchandise your.
Judah and the land of Israel, They, were merchants of thine, — With the wheat of Minnith and the sweets of pannag and honey and oil and balsam, Shared they in thy barter:
18 Damascus [was] trader your in [the] abundance of products your from [the] abundance of all wealth for [the] wine of Helbon and wool of Zahar.
Damascus was a trader of thine For the multitude of thy manufactures For the multitude of all wealth, - With the wine of Helbon and white wool:
19 Vedan and Javan from Uzal for wares your they exchanged iron wrought cassia and calamus for merchandise your it was.
Wedan and Javan, from Uzal, Brought into thy traffic, — Steel, cassia and calamus, Were, in thy merchandise:
20 Dedan [was] trader your for clothes of material for riding.
Dedan was a merchant of thine, - With spreading wraps for riding:
21 Arabia and all [the] princes of Kedar they [were] [the] traders of hand your for lambs and rams and goats for them traders your.
Arabia and all the princes of Kedar, They, were traders at thy service, — With lambs and rams and he-goats, With these, were they traders of thine:
22 [the] traders of Sheba and Raamah they [were] traders your for [the] best of every spice and for every stone precious and gold they exchanged wares your.
The merchants of Sheba and Raamah, They were merchants of thine, — With the chief of all spices and with every kind of precious stone and gold, Took they part in thy traffic:
23 Haran and Canneh and Eden [the] traders of Sheba Asshur Chilmad [was] trader your.
Haran and Canneh and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, —Asshur. Chilmad, Were merchants of thine:
24 They [were] traders your (for beautiful garments *LA(bh)*) for garments of blue and multicolored cloth and for blankets of variegated cloth for ropes bound and made firm in market place your.
Those were thy merchants for gorgeous garments, for wrappings of blue and embroidery, and for treasure-chests of variegated cloth, —for cords, twisted and strong, in thy market:
25 [the] ships of Tarshish [were] travelers your merchandise your and you were filled and you were honored exceedingly (in [the] heart of *LB(ah)*) [the] seas.
the ships of Tarshish, were thy masts Carrying on thy barter, So wast thou filled and becamest very glorious In the heart of the seas.
26 On waters many they brought you the rowers you [the] wind of the east it broke you in [the] heart of [the] seas.
Into mighty waters, have they brought thee, the rowers—even thee, — the east wind, hath broken thee In the heart of the seas:
27 Wealth your and wares your merchandise your mariners your and sailors your [the] repairers of leaks your and [the] traders of merchandise your and all [the] men of war your who [were] in you and with all company your which [was] in [the] midst of you they will fall in [the] heart of [the] seas on [the] day of downfall your.
Thy wealth and thy wares, thy merchandise thy mariners, and thy sailors, -thy calkers and the barterers of thy merchandise and all thy men of war who are in thee and in all thy gathered host which is in thy midst Shall fall into the heart of the seas, In the day of thy fall.
28 To [the] sound of [the] outcry of sailors your they will quake pasturelands.
At the sound of the outcry of thy pilots, the coasts shall quake:
29 And they will come down from ships their all [those who] wield an oar mariners all [the] sailors of the sea to the land they will stand.
Then shall come down from their ships all that handle the oar, mariners, all the sailors of the sea— Upon the land, shall they take up their station;
30 And they will make heard on you voice their so they may cry out bitter so they may bring up dust on heads their in ash[es] they will roll.
And make loud [lament] over thee, with their voice, And make biter outcry, - And shall lift up dust on their heads, In ashes, shall roll themselves;
31 And they will make bald because of you baldness and they will gird themselves sackcloth and they will weep because of you with bitterness of emotion wailing bitter.
And shall make bald for thee a baldness And gird them with sackcloth, — And shall weep for thee in bitterness of soul A bitter lamentation;
32 And they will take up concerning you in wailing their a lamentation and they will lament on you who? [is] like Tyre like one silenced in [the] middle of the sea.
And shall take up for thee in their Wailing: a dirge, And shall chant over thee, - Who is like Tyre? Like the Sent One in the midst of the sea?
33 When went out wares your from [the] seas you satisfied peoples many by [the] abundance of wealth your and merchandise your you made rich [the] kings of [the] earth.
By the going forth of thy commodities out of the seas, Thou didst satisfy many peoples, By the multitude of thy wares and of thy merchandise, Thou didst enrich the kings of the earth.
34 [the] time Being broken from [the] seas in [the] depths of [the] water merchandise your and all company your in [the] midst of you they have fallen.
Now, thou art wrecked out of the seas In the depths of waters, — Thy merchandise and all thy gathered host In thy midst, have fallen.
35 All [the] inhabitants of the islands they have been appalled on you and kings their they have shuddered shuddering they have been disconcerted faces.
All the dwellers in the coastlands, Are astounded over thee, - And their kings have been made to shudder a shuddering, To be troubled in countenance.
36 Traders among the peoples they have hissed on you terrors you have become and there not [will be] you until perpetuity.
The traders among the peoples, have hissed over thee: A terror, hast thou become, And, art not, Unto times age-abiding.
