Exodus 1
1 And these [are] [the] names of [the] sons of Israel who went Egypt towards with Jacob everyone and household his they went.
Estos son los nombres de los hijos de Israel que vinieron a Egipto (cada hombre y su familia vinieron con Jacob):
2 Reuben Simeon Levi and Judah.
Rubén, Simeón, Leví y Judá,
3 Issachar Zebulun and Benjamin.
Isacar, Zabulón y Benjamín,
4 Dan and Naphtali Gad and Asher.
Dan y Neftalí, Gad y Aser.
5 And it was every person [who] came out of [the] thigh of Jacob seventy person[s] and Joseph he was in Egypt.
Todas las almas que salieron del cuerpo de Jacob fueron setenta almas, y José ya estaba en Egipto.
6 And he died Joseph and all brothers his and all the generation that.
José murió, al igual que todos sus hermanos y toda aquella generación.
7 And [the] people of Israel they were fruitful and they swarmed and they multiplied and they became mighty with muchness muchness and it was filled the land with them.
Los hijos de Israel fructificaron, se multiplicaron y se hicieron muy poderosos, y la tierra se llenó de ellos.
8 And he arose a king new over Egypt who not he knew Joseph.
Se levantó un nuevo rey sobre Egipto, que no conocía a José.
9 And he said to people his here! [the] people of [the] people of Israel [is] numerous and mighty more than us.
Dijo a su pueblo: “He aquí, el pueblo de los hijos de Israel es más y más poderoso que nosotros.
10 Give! let us deal wisely to it lest it should increase and it will be that they will happen war and it will be added also it to [those who] hate us and it will fight against us and it will go up from the land.
Vengan, tratemos con sabiduría con ellos, no sea que se multipliquen, y suceda que cuando estalle alguna guerra, ellos también se unan a nuestros enemigos y luchen contra nosotros, y escapen del país.”
11 And they appointed over it overseers of slave gangs so as to afflict it with forced labor their and it built cities of storage for Pharaoh Pithom and Rameses.
Por lo tanto, pusieron sobre ellos a los capataces para que los afligieran con sus cargas. Construyeron ciudades de almacenamiento para el Faraón: Pitón y Ramsés.
12 And just as people afflicted it so it increased and so it spread and people felt dread because of [the] people of Israel.
Pero cuanto más los afligían, más se multiplicaban y más se extendían. Comenzaron a temer a los hijos de Israel.
13 And they compelled to labor Egypt [the] people of Israel with harshness.
Los egipcios hicieron servir sin piedad a los hijos de Israel,
14 And they made bitter lives their with labor hard in mortar and in bricks and in all labor in the field all labor their which they labored by them with harshness.
y les amargaron la vida con un duro servicio en la argamasa y en el ladrillo, y en todo tipo de servicio en el campo, todo su servicio, en el que los hicieron servir sin piedad.
15 And he said [the] king of Egypt to the midwives Hebrew who [the] name of the one [was] Shiphrah and [the] name of the second [was] Puah.
El rey de Egipto habló con las parteras hebreas, de las cuales una se llamaba Sifra y la otra Fua,
16 And he said when assist as midwife you the Hebrew [women] and you will look at the stones if [is] a son he and you will kill him and if [is] a daughter she and she will live.
y les dijo: “Cuando cumpláis con el deber de partera a las mujeres hebreas y las veáis en el taburete de parto, si es un hijo, lo mataréis; pero si es una hija, vivirá.”
17 And they feared the midwives God and not they did just as he had spoken to them [the] king of Egypt and they let live the [male] children.
Pero las parteras temían a Dios, y no hicieron lo que el rey de Egipto les ordenaba, sino que salvaron a los niños vivos.
18 And he summoned [the] king of Egypt the midwives and he said to them why? have you done the thing this and have you let live? the [male] children.
El rey de Egipto llamó a las parteras y les dijo: “¿Por qué habéis hecho esto y habéis salvado vivos a los niños?”
19 And they said the midwives to Pharaoh for not [are] like the women Egyptian the Hebrew [women] that [are] vigorous they before she comes to them the midwife and they give birth.
Las parteras dijeron al faraón: “Porque las mujeres hebreas no son como las egipcias, pues son vigorosas y dan a luz antes de que la partera llegue a ellas.”
20 And he did good God to the midwives and it increased the people and they became mighty exceedingly.
Dios trató bien a las parteras, y el pueblo se multiplicó y se hizo muy poderoso.
21 And it was that they feared the midwives God and he appointed for them households.
Como las parteras temían a Dios, él les dio familias.
22 And he commanded Pharaoh to all people his saying every son born the River towards you will throw him and every daughter you will let live!
El faraón ordenó a todo su pueblo, diciendo: “Echaréis al río a todo hijo que nazca, y a toda hija la salvaréis con vida.”
