< Exodus 22 >
1 If he will steal anyone an ox or a sheep and he will slaughter it or he has sold it five cattle he will repay in place of the ox and four sheep in place of the sheep.
If ony man stelith a scheep, ether oxe, and sleeth, ether sillith, he schal restore fiue oxen for oon oxe, and foure scheep for o scheep.
2 If in breaking in he will be found the thief and he will be struck and he will die there not for him [will be] blood.
And if a nyyt theef brekynge an hows, ether vndurmynynge, is foundun, and is deed bi a wounde takun, the smytere schal not be gilti of blood;
3 If it has risen the sun on him blood [will be] for him certainly he will make restitution if nothing [belongs] to him and he will be sold for theft his.
that if he dide this whanne the sunne was rysun, he dide man sleyng, and he schal die. If a theef hath not that, that he schal yelde for thefte, he schal be seeld;
4 If actually it will be found in hand his the thing stolen from an ox unto a donkey unto a sheep alive twofold he will make restitution.
if that thing that he staal, is foundun quyk at hym, ether oxe, ether asse, ether scheep, he schal restore the double.
5 If he will cause to be grazed over anyone a field or a vineyard and he will let go (cattle his *Q(K)*) and it will graze in [the] field of another [person] [the] best of field his and [the] best of vineyard his he will make compensation.
If a man harmeth a feeld, ethir vyner, and suffrith his beeste, that it waaste othere mennus thingis, he schal restore for the valu of harm, `what euer beste thing he hath in his feeld, ethir vyner.
6 If it will go forth a fire and it will find thornbushes and it will be consumed a heap of sheaves or the standing grain or the field certainly he will make compensation the [one who] kindled the fire.
If fier goith out, and fyndith eeris of corn, and catchith heepis of corn, ethir cornes stondynge in feeldis, he that kyndlide the fier schal yeelde the harm.
7 If he will give anyone to neighbor his money or articles to keep [them] and it will be stolen from [the] house of the person if he will be found the thief he will make restitution twofold.
If a man bitakith in to kepyng monei to a freend, ether a vessel `in to keping, and it is takun awey bi thefte fro hym that resseyuede, if the theef is foundun, he schal restore the double.
8 If not he will be found the thief and he will be brought near [the] master of the house to the judges if not he had stretched out hand his on [the] property of neighbor his.
If the theef is hid, the lord of the hows schal be brouyt to goddis, `that is, iugis, and he schal swere, that he helde not forth the hond in to `the thing of his neiybore,
9 On every matter of transgression on an ox on a donkey on a sheep on a garment on every thing lost which anyone will say that [is] it this to the judges it will come [the] case of both of them [the one] whom they will condemn as guilty! [the] judges he will make restitution twofold to neighbor his.
to `do fraude; as wel in oxe, as in asse, and in scheep, and in clooth; and what euer thing may brynge in harm, the cause of euer eithir schal come to goddis, and if thei demen, he schal restore the double to his neiybore.
10 If he will give anyone to neighbor his a donkey or an ox or a sheep and every animal to keep [it] and it will die or it was maimed or it was captured there not [was one who] saw.
If ony man bitakith to his neiybore oxe, asse, scheep, and al werk beeste to kepyng, and it is deed, ether is maad feble, ethir is takun of enemyes, and no man seeth this,
11 [the] oath of Yahweh it will be between [the] two of them if not he had stretched out hand his on [the] property of neighbor his and he will accept [it] owner its and not he will make compensation.
an ooth schal be in the myddis, that he helde not forth the hond to the `thing of his neiybore; and the lord schal resseyue the ooth, and he schal not be compellid to yelde.
12 And if certainly it will be stolen from with him he will make restitution to owner its.
That if it is takun awei bi thefte, he schal restore the harm to the lord;
13 Certainly [if] it will be torn in pieces he will bring it evidence the torn animal not he will make restitution.
if it is etun of a beeste, he schal brynge to the lord that that is slayn, and he schal not restore.
14 And if he will ask anyone from with neighbor his and it will be maimed or it died owner its not [was] with it certainly he will make restitution.
He that axith of his neiybore ony thing of these bi borewyng, and it is feblid, ether deed, while the lord is not present, he schal be constreyned to yelde; that if the lord is in presence,
15 If owner its [was] with it not he will make restitution if [was] hired it it came for hire its.
he schal not restore, moost if it cam hirid, for the meede of his werk.
16 And if he will seduce a man a virgin who not she was betrothed and he will lie with her certainly he will pay [the] bride-price for her for himself to a wife.
If a man disseyueth a virgyn not yit weddid, and slepith with hir, he schal yyue dower to hir, and schal haue hir wijf.
17 If absolutely he will refuse father her to give her to him silver he will weigh out according to [the] bride-price of virgins.
If the fadir of the virgyn nyle yyue, he schal yelde money, bi the maner of dower, which virgyns weren wont to take.
18 A sorceress not you will let live.
Thou schalt not suffre witchis to lyue.
19 Any [one who] lies with an animal certainly he will be put to death.
He that doith letcherie with a beeste, die by deeth.
20 [one who] sacrifices To the gods he will be dedicated to destruction except to Yahweh to only him.
He that offrith to goddis, out takun to the Lord aloone, be he slayn.
21 And a sojourner not you must maltreat and not you must oppress him for sojourners you were in [the] land of Egypt.
Thou schalt not make sory a comelyng, nether thou schalt turmente hym; for also ye weren comelyngis in the lond of Egipt.
22 Any widow and a fatherless one not you must afflict!
Ye schulen not anoye a widewe, and a fadirles ethir modirles child.
23 Certainly [if] you will afflict him that except carefully he will cry out to me certainly I will hear cry of distress his.
If ye hirten hem, thei schulen crye to me, and Y schal here the cry of hem,
24 And it will burn anger my and I will kill you with the sword and they will be wives your widows and children your fatherless ones.
and my greet veniaunce schal haue indignacioun, and Y schal smyte you with swerd, and youre wyues schulen be widewis, and youre sones schulen be fadirles.
25 If money - you will lend to people my the poor [person] with you not you must be to him like a creditor not you must put! on him interest.
If thou yyuest money to loone to my pore puple, that dwellith with thee, thou schalt not constreyne hym, as an extorsioner doith, nether thou schalt oppresse hym by vsuris.
26 Certainly [if] you will take as pledge [the] cloak of neighbor your until goes the sun you will return it to him.
If thou takist of thi neiybore `a wed a clooth, thou schalt yelde to hym bifore the goyng doun of the sunne;
27 For it ([is] covering his *Q(k)*) to alone it it [is] cloak his for skin his in what? will he lie down and it will be that he will cry out to me and I will hear for [am] gracious I.
for that aloone is the cloothing of his fleisch, with which he is hilid, nether he hath another, in which he slepith; if he crieth to me, Y schal here hym; for Y am mercyful.
28 God not you must curse and a leader among people your not you must curse.
Thou schalt not bacbyte goddis, and thou schalt not curse the prince of thi puple.
29 Full produce your and juice your not you must delay [the] firstborn of sons your you will give to me.
Thou schalt not tarye to offre to the Lord thi tithis, and firste fruytis. Thou schalt yyue to me the firste gendrid of thi sones;
30 Thus you will do to ox your to sheep your seven days it will be with mother its on the day eighth you will give it to me.
also of oxen, and of scheep thou schalt do in lijk maner; seuene daies be he with his modir, in the eiytithe dai thou schalt yelde hym to me.
31 And people of holiness you will be! of me and flesh in the field a torn animal not you must eat to the dog[s] you will throw! it.
Ye schulen be holi men to me; ye schulen not ete fleisch which is bifore taastid of beestis, but ye schulen caste forth to houndis.
