< Exodus 17 >

1 And they set out all [the] congregation of [the] people of Israel from [the] wilderness of Sin to journeyings their on [the] mouth of Yahweh and they encamped at Rephidim and there not [was] water to drink the people.
Na ka haere te huihui katoa o nga tama a Iharaira i te koraha o Hini i o ratou haerenga, i pera tonu me ta Ihowa i ako ai, a noho rawa atu ki Repirimi: otiia kahore he wai hei inu ma te iwi.
2 And it quarreled the people with Moses and they said give to us water so we may drink and he said to them Moses why? are you quarreling! with me why? are you putting to [the] test! Yahweh.
A ka mea a Mohi ki a ratou, He aha koutou i ngangau ai ki ahau? he aha koutou i whakamatautau ai i a Ihowa?
3 And it was thirsty there the people for water and it grumbled the people on Moses and it said why? this did you bring up us from Egypt to put to death me and children my and livestock my by thirst.
Na ka mate te iwi i te wai i reira; a amuamu ana te iwi ki a Mohi, a ka mea, He aha matou i kawea mai ai e koe i Ihipa kia kohurutia ai matou, me a matou tamariki, me a matou kararehe ki te matewai?
4 And he cried out Moses to Yahweh saying what? will I do to the people this yet a little and they will stone me.
5 And he said Yahweh to Moses pass on before the people and take with you some of [the] elders of Israel and staff your which you struck with it the River take in hand your and you will go.
6 Here I [will be] standing before you there - on the rock at Horeb and you will strike the rock and they will come out from it waters and it will drink the people and he did so Moses to [the] eyes of [the] elders of Israel.
Nana, tena ahau te tu atu na i tou aroaro i reira, i runga i te kamaka i Horepa, a mau e patu te kamaka, a ka puta he wai i reira, hei inu ma te iwi. A peratia ana e Mohi i te tirohanga a nga kaumatua o Iharaira.
7 And he called [the] name of the place Massah and Meribah on [the] quarrel of - [the] people of Israel and because put to [the] test they Yahweh saying ¿ [is] there Yahweh in midst our or? not.
A huaina ana e ia te ingoa o taua wahi ko Maha, ko Meripa; mo te ngangautanga a nga tama a Iharaira, mo ta ratou whakamatau hoki i a Ihowa, i a ratou i mea ra, Kei roto ranei a Ihowa i a tatou, kahore ranei?
8 And it came Amalek and it joined battle with Israel at Rephidim.
9 And he said Moses to Joshua choose for us men and go out fight against Amalek tomorrow I [will be] standing on [the] top of the hill and [the] staff of God [will be] in hand my.
10 And he did Joshua just as he had said to him Moses by fighting against Amalek and Moses Aaron and Hur they went up [the] top of the hill.
11 And it was just when he lifted up Moses hand his and it prevailed Israel and just when he gave rest hand his and it prevailed Amalek.
A ka maiangi ake te ringa o Mohi, na, ka kaha a Iharaira; a ka tukua iho tona ringa, na, ka kaha a Amareke.
12 And [the] hands of Moses [were] heavy and they took a stone and they put [it] under him and he sat on it and Aaron and Hur they supported hands his from this one and from this one and it was hands his [were] steadiness until went the sun.
Otiia ka taimaha nga ringa o Mohi; a ka mau raua ki tetahi kohatu, a whakatakotoria ana ki raro i a ia, a noho ana ia i runga; a puritia ake ana ona ringa e Arona raua ko Huru, kotahi i tetahi taha, kotahi i tetahi taha: katahi ka tuturu tonu on a ringa, a to noa te ra.
13 And he defeated Joshua Amalek and people its to [the] mouth of [the] sword.
14 And he said Yahweh to Moses write this reminder in the book and put [it] in [the] ears of Joshua for certainly I will wipe out [the] remembrance of Amalek from under the heavens.
15 And he built Moses an altar and he called name its Yahweh - [is] standard my.
A hanga ana e Mohi he aata, a huaina iho tona ingoa ko Ihowanihi.
16 And he said that a hand on [the] throne of Yahweh war [will belong] to Yahweh with Amalek from generation generation.
