Ecclesiastes 12
1 And remember creator your in [the] days of youth your until that not they will come [the] days of evil and they will arrive years which you will say not [belongs] to me in them pleasure.
Ingatlah pada Penciptamu selagi engkau muda, sebelum tiba tahun-tahun penuh sengsara. Pada masa itu engkau akan berkata, "Hidupku tidak bahagia."
2 Until that not it will become dark the sun and the light and the moon and the stars and they will return the clouds after the rain.
Bila tiba saat itu matamu tak lagi terang, sehingga pudarlah sinar surya, bulan dan bintang. Awan mendung pembawa hujan, tetap menyertaimu bagai ancaman.
3 In the day when they will tremble [the] keepers of the house and they will bend themselves [the] people of strength and they will cease the [female] grinders for they have become few and they will grow dim the [women who] look in the windows.
Lenganmu gemetar dan tak lagi memberi perlindungan. Kakimu yang kekar akan goyah tanpa kekuatan. Gigimu tidak lengkap untuk mengunyah makanan. Matamu kabur sehingga menyuramkan pandangan.
4 And they will be shut up [the] doors on the street when becomes low [the] sound of the grinding mill for someone may arise to [the] sound of bird and they may be reduced all [the] daughters of song.
Keramaian di jalan sampai di telingamu dengan samar-samar. Bunyi musik dan penggilingan hampir-hampir tidak terdengar. Engkau tak dapat tidur terlena. Kicauan burung pun membuat engkau terjaga.
5 Also from a high [place] people will be afraid and terrors [are] in the way and it may blossom the almond tree so it may drag itself along the grasshopper and it may fail the caper-berry for [is] going humankind to [the] house of perpetuity its and they will go about (in the street *L(abh)*) the mourners.
Engkau takut mendaki tempat yang tinggi dan harus berjalan dengan hati-hati. Rambutmu beruban dan kakimu kauseret waktu berjalan. Maka hilanglah segala hasrat dan keinginan. Kita menuju ke tempat tinggal kita yang penghabisan, orang-orang berkabung dan meratap di sepanjang jalan.
6 Until that not (it will be snapped *Q(K)*) [the] cord of silver so it may be crushed [the] bowl of gold so it may be broken [the] jar at the water spring and it will be crushed the [water] wheel to the well.
Rantai perak akan putus dan terpisah-pisah; lampu emas jatuh dan pecah; tali timba putus dan rusak; kendi hancur dan terserak-serak.
7 And it will return the dust to the earth like which it was and the spirit it will return to God who he gave it.
Tubuh kita akan kembali, menjadi debu di bumi. Nafas kehidupan kita akan kembali kepada Allah. Dialah yang memberikannya sebagai anugerah.
8 Futility of futilities he said the Teacher everything [is] futility.
Kataku, memang semuanya itu sia-sia, semuanya percuma, tak ada artinya.
9 And besides that he was Teacher wise again he taught knowledge the people and he weighed and he searched out he arranged in order proverbs [surely] a multitude.
Sang Pemikir itu arif dan bijaksana. Sebab itu diajarkannya kepada umat segala pengetahuannya. Banyak amsal dipelajarinya lalu ia menguji kebenarannya.
10 sought Teacher to find words of delight and [what] was written uprightness [was] words of truth.
Ia berusaha menemukan kata-kata penghibur, dan kata-kata yang ditulisnya adalah jujur.
11 [the] words of Wise [people] [are] like goads and [are] like nails firmly fixed masters of collections they are given from a shepherd one.
Perkataan orang arif itu seperti tongkat tajam seorang gembala, tongkat yang dipakainya untuk melindungi dombanya. Kumpulan amsal dan nasihat, seperti paku yang tertancap kuat. Semua itu pemberian Allah juga, gembala kita yang satu-satunya.
12 And excess more than them O child my be warned to make books many there not [is] an end and study much [is] weariness of flesh.
Anakku, tentang satu hal engkau harus waspada. Penulisan buku tak ada akhirnya, dan terlalu banyak belajar melelahkan jiwa dan raga.
13 [the] end of [the] matter Everything it has been heard God fear and commandments his keep for this [is] all humankind.
Sesudah semuanya kupertimbangkan, inilah kesimpulan yang kudapatkan. Takutlah kepada Allah dan taatilah segala perintah-Nya, sebab hanya untuk itulah manusia diciptakan-Nya.
14 For every deed God he will bring in judgment with every hidden thing whether good and or evil.
Allah akan mengadili segala perbuatan kita; yang baik dan yang buruk, bahkan yang tersembunyi juga.
