Ecclesiastes 1
1 [the] words of Teacher [the] son of David king in Jerusalem.
Lời của Người Truyền Đạo, con Vua Đa-vít, cai trị tại Giê-ru-sa-lem.
2 Futility of futilities he said Teacher futility of futilities everything [is] futility.
Người Truyền Đạo nói: “Mọi thứ đều vô nghĩa! Hoàn toàn vô nghĩa!”
3 What? profit [belongs] to humankind in all toil his that he toils under the sun.
Con người làm lụng khó nhọc dưới ánh mặt trời để hưởng được gì?
4 A generation [is] going and a generation [is] coming and the earth for ever [is] continuing.
Thế hệ đến và thế hệ đi, nhưng trái đất vẫn không bao giờ thay đổi.
5 And it rises the sun and it goes the sun and to place its [is] panting [is] rising it there.
Mặt trời mọc và mặt trời lặn, xoay vần không dứt.
6 [it is] going To [the] south and [it is] circling to [the] north circling around - circling around [is] going the wind and on circuits its [is] returning the wind.
Gió thổi hướng nam rồi thổi hướng bắc. Quanh đi vòng lại, gió thổi không ngừng.
7 All the rivers [are] going to the sea and the sea not it [is] full to [the] place where the rivers [are] going there they [are] returning to go.
Sông đổ mãi vào biển nhưng biển chẳng hề đầy. Nước trở về các sông và lại đổ vào biển.
8 All things [are] wearisome not he is able anyone to speak [them] not it is satisfied an eye by seeing and not it is filled an ear from hearing.
Vạn vật mỏi mòn không tả xiết. Chúng ta thấy nhiều nhưng vẫn không hài lòng. Chúng ta nghe nhiều nhưng vẫn không mãn nguyện.
9 Whatever it has been it [is] which will be and whatever (which has been done *L(abh)*) it [is] which will be done and there not [is] any new [thing] under the sun.
Việc gì đã xảy ra, sẽ còn tái diễn. Điều gì làm ngày nay, người xưa cũng đã làm rồi. Chẳng có gì mới dưới mặt trời.
10 [is] there? Anything that anyone will say see this [is] new it already it has been to ancient times which it was from to before us.
Thỉnh thoảng có người nói: “Có vài điều mới!” Nhưng thật ra nó đã có; không có gì thật sự mới.
11 There not [is] remembrance of the former [things] and also of the subsequent [things] that they will be not it will be of them remembrance with who will be to the later [time].
Chúng ta không nhớ những việc xảy ra thời trước, và trong thế hệ mai sau, cũng chẳng ai hồi tưởng việc chúng ta làm hôm nay.
12 I Teacher I was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
Tôi, Người Truyền Đạo, là vua của Ít-ra-ên tại Giê-ru-sa-lem.
13 And I gave heart my to study and to discover by wisdom on all that it has been done under the heavens it - [is] a task of evil [which] he has given God to [the] children of humankind to be busy with it.
Tôi chuyên tâm tìm hiểu và dùng sự khôn ngoan để khảo sát những sự việc dưới trời. Tôi sớm khám phá rằng Đức Chúa Trời đã giao mọi việc lao khổ cho loài người.
14 I have seen all the works that have been done under the sun and there! everything [is] futility and striving of wind.
Tôi nhận thấy mọi công trình dưới mặt trời, và thật, tất cả đều vô nghĩa—như đuổi theo luồng gió.
15 [something] bent Not it is able to become straight and something missing not it is able to be numbered.
Vật gì đã bị cong vẹo không thể uốn thẳng được? Đã thiếu hụt, làm sao có thể đếm được?
16 I have spoken I with heart my saying I here! I have made great and I have increased wisdom above every [one] who he was before me over Jerusalem and heart my it has seen much wisdom and knowledge.
Tôi tự nhủ: “Kìa, tôi khôn ngoan hơn các vị vua cai trị tại Giê-ru-sa-lem trước tôi. Tôi có kiến thức và sự hiểu biết hơn bất cứ ai trong họ.”
17 And I gave! heart my to know wisdom and to know madness and folly I knew that also this it [is] a striving of wind.
Vậy, tôi cố gắng học hỏi từ sự khôn ngoan đến sự điên rồ và dại dột. Nhưng qua kinh nghiệm, tôi phải nhìn nhận điều đó cũng chẳng khác gì đuổi theo luồng gió.
18 For [is] in abundance of wisdom abundance of frustration so someone may increase knowledge he will increase pain.
Càng khôn ngoan càng nhiều sầu khổ. Càng hiểu biết càng nhiều buồn đau.
