Ecclesiastes 1
1 [the] words of Teacher [the] son of David king in Jerusalem.
੧ਲੁੱਕ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ, ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ।
2 Futility of futilities he said Teacher futility of futilities everything [is] futility.
੨ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ, ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ, ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ!
3 What? profit [belongs] to humankind in all toil his that he toils under the sun.
੩ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਸਾਰੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਤੋਂ ਕੀ ਲਾਭ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਉਹ ਸੂਰਜ ਦੇ ਹੇਠ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ?
4 A generation [is] going and a generation [is] coming and the earth for ever [is] continuing.
੪ਇੱਕ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਚਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜੀ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਧਰਤੀ ਸਦਾ ਅਟੱਲ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
5 And it rises the sun and it goes the sun and to place its [is] panting [is] rising it there.
੫ਸੂਰਜ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਲਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਸ ਸਥਾਨ ਵੱਲ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿੱਥੋਂ ਉਹ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ।
6 [it is] going To [the] south and [it is] circling to [the] north circling around - circling around [is] going the wind and on circuits its [is] returning the wind.
੬ਪੌਣ ਦੱਖਣ ਵੱਲ ਚਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਫੇਰ ਉੱਤਰ ਵੱਲ ਮੁੜ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਸਦਾ ਘੁੰਮਦੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੱਕਰ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਮੁੜ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
7 All the rivers [are] going to the sea and the sea not it [is] full to [the] place where the rivers [are] going there they [are] returning to go.
੭ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਦੀਆਂ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਪੈਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਰਦਾ। ਉਹ ਓਸੇ ਸਥਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿੱਥੋਂ ਨਦੀਆਂ ਨਿੱਕਲਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
8 All things [are] wearisome not he is able anyone to speak [them] not it is satisfied an eye by seeing and not it is filled an ear from hearing.
੮ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਥਕਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ, ਅੱਖ ਵੇਖਣ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਜਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਨ ਸੁਣਨ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਰਦਾ।
9 Whatever it has been it [is] which will be and whatever (which has been done *L(abh)*) it [is] which will be done and there not [is] any new [thing] under the sun.
੯ਜੋ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਹੋ ਫੇਰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਜੋ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਫੇਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਦੇ ਹੇਠ ਕੋਈ ਗੱਲ ਨਵੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
10 [is] there? Anything that anyone will say see this [is] new it already it has been to ancient times which it was from to before us.
੧੦ਕੀ ਕੋਈ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਖ ਸਕੀਏ, ਵੇਖੋ, ਇਹ ਨਵੀਂ ਹੈ? ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਪੁਰਾਣਿਆਂ ਸਮਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਈ, ਜੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸਨ।
11 There not [is] remembrance of the former [things] and also of the subsequent [things] that they will be not it will be of them remembrance with who will be to the later [time].
੧੧ਪਹਿਲੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੁਝ ਚੇਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਚੇਤਾ ਨਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ।
12 I Teacher I was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
੧੨ਮੈਂ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਸੀ।
13 And I gave heart my to study and to discover by wisdom on all that it has been done under the heavens it - [is] a task of evil [which] he has given God to [the] children of humankind to be busy with it.
੧੩ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਲਾਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਹੇਠ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਬੁੱਧ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਸਭ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਕਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਖੋਜ ਕੱਢਾਂ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਵੰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਲੱਗੇ ਰਹਿਣ।
14 I have seen all the works that have been done under the sun and there! everything [is] futility and striving of wind.
੧੪ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਹੇਠ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖੋ, ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਹੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਅਤੇ ਹਵਾ ਦਾ ਫੱਕਣਾ ਹਨ!
15 [something] bent Not it is able to become straight and something missing not it is able to be numbered.
੧੫ਜੋ ਟੇਢਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਹੈ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ।
16 I have spoken I with heart my saying I here! I have made great and I have increased wisdom above every [one] who he was before me over Jerusalem and heart my it has seen much wisdom and knowledge.
੧੬ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਭਈ ਵੇਖ, ਮੈਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਵਾਧਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਸਗੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ, ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਬੁੱਧ ਪਾਈ। ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਬੁੱਧ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
17 And I gave! heart my to know wisdom and to know madness and folly I knew that also this it [is] a striving of wind.
੧੭ਪਰ ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਬੁੱਧ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਨਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਗਲਪੁਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੂਰਖਤਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਾਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਹਵਾ ਦਾ ਫੱਕਣਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ!
18 For [is] in abundance of wisdom abundance of frustration so someone may increase knowledge he will increase pain.
੧੮ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਬੁੱਧ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਵਧਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਿਰ ਦਰਦੀ ਵਧਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
