< Deuteronomy 5 >
1 And he summoned Moses all Israel and he said to them hear O Israel the statutes and the judgments which I [am] speaking in ears your this day and you will learn them and you will take care to observe them.
Pea naʻe fekau ʻe Mōsese ke haʻu ʻa ʻIsileli kotoa pē, ʻo ne pehē kiate kinautolu, “Fanongo, ʻE ʻIsileli, ki he ngaahi tuʻutuʻuni mo e ngaahi fakamaau ʻaia ʻoku ou lea ʻaki ʻi homou telinga he ʻaho ni, koeʻuhi ke mou ʻilo ia, pea tauhi, pea fai ki ai.
2 Yahweh God our he made with us a covenant at Horeb.
Naʻe fai ʻe Sihova ko hotau ʻOtua ʻae fuakava mo kitautolu ʻi Holepi.
3 Not with ancestors our he made Yahweh the covenant this for with us we these here this day all of us alive.
Naʻe ʻikai fai ʻe Sihova ʻae fuakava ni mo ʻetau ngaahi tamai, ka ko kitautolu, ʻio, ʻakitautolu ʻoku moʻui kotoa pē ʻi heni he ʻaho ni.
4 Face - on face he spoke Yahweh with you at the mountain from [the] middle of the fire.
Naʻe folofola ʻa Sihova kiate kimoutolu ʻae mata ki he mata ʻi he moʻunga mei he loto afi;
5 I [was] standing between Yahweh and between you at the time that to declare to you [the] word of Yahweh for you were afraid of the fire and not you went up on the mountain saying.
(Naʻa ku tuʻu ʻi he vahaʻa ʻo Sihova mo kimoutolu ʻi he kuonga ko ia, ke fakahā kiate kimoutolu ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova; he naʻa mou manavahē koeʻuhi ko e afi, pea naʻe ʻikai te mou ʻalu hake ki he moʻunga; ) pea naʻe pehē mai ʻe ia;
6 I [am] Yahweh God your who I brought out you from [the] land of Egypt (from a house of slaves. *L(p)*)
“Ko au ko Sihova ko ho ʻOtua, ‘Naʻaku ʻomi koe kituʻa mei he fonua ko ʻIsipite, mei he fale fakapōpula.
7 (Not it will belong to you gods other *L(p)*) on (face my. *L(p)*)
“ʻOua naʻa ke maʻu mo au ha ʻotua kehe ʻi hoku ʻao.
8 (Not you must make for yourself an image of - *L(p)*) any (form which [is] in the heavens - above and which [is] on the earth beneath *L(p)*) and which ([is] in the waters - from under to the earth. *L(p)*)
“ʻOua naʻa ke ngaohi kiate koe ha fakatātā, pe ha meʻa fakatatau ʻe taha ʻi ha meʻa ʻe taha ʻi he langi ʻi ʻolunga, pe ha meʻa ʻoku ʻi he fonua ʻi lalo ni, pe ki ha meʻa ʻoku ʻi he vai ʻi he lalo fonua:
9 Not (you must bow down to them *L(p)*) and not (you must be enticed to serve them *L(p)*) for I Yahweh God your [am] a God jealous [who] visits [the] iniquity of parents on children and on a third generation and on a fourth generation (of [those who] hate me. *L(p)*)
“ʻOua naʻa ke punou hifo koe ki ai, pe tauhi ki ai: he ko au Sihova ko ho ʻOtua, ko e ʻOtua fuaʻa au, ʻoku ou totongi ʻae hia ʻae ngaahi tamai ki he fānau ʻo aʻu ki hono tolu mo hono fā ʻoe toʻutangata ʻokinautolu ʻoku fehiʻa kiate au,
10 (And [who] does covenant loyalty *L(p)*) (to thousands *L(b+p)*) of [those who] love me and of [those who] keep (commandments my. *Q(K)*)
Pea u fakahā ʻae ʻaloʻofa ki he ngaahi toko afe ʻokinautolu ʻoku ʻofa kiate au mo tauhi ʻeku ngaahi fekau.
11 Not you must take [the] name of Yahweh God your for emptiness for not he will leave unpunished Yahweh [one] who he will take name his for emptiness.
“ʻOua naʻa ke takuanoa ʻae huafa ʻo Sihova ko ho ʻOtua: koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai lau ʻe Sihova ko e taʻehalaia ia ʻaia ʻoku ne takuanoa hono huafa.
12 (Keep *L(p)*) ([the] day of the sabbath to set apart as holy it *L(p)*) just as (he commanded you - Yahweh God your. *L(p)*)
“Tauhi ʻae ʻaho Sāpate ke fakamāʻoniʻoniʻi ia, ʻo hangē ko e fekau ʻa Sihova ko ho ʻOtua kiate koe.
13 (Six days *L(p)*) (you will labor *L(b+p)*) (and you will do all work your. *L(p)*)
Ko e ʻaho ʻe ono ke ke ngāue ai, ʻo fai ai hoʻo ngāue kotoa pē:
14 And [the] day (seventh [is] a sabbath - *L(p)*) (to Yahweh *L(b+p)*) (God your *L(p)*) not you must do any work you and son your and daughter your and [male] servant your and female servant your and ox your and donkey your and all livestock your and sojourner your who [is] in gates your so that he may rest [male] servant your and female servant your (like you. *L(p)*)
Ka ko hono fitu ʻoe ʻaho ko e Sāpate ia ʻo Sihova ko ho ʻOtua; ʻoua naʻa ke fai ʻi ai ha ngāue ʻe taha, ʻa koe, pe ko ho foha, pe ko ho ʻofefine, ko hoʻo tamaioʻeiki, pe ko hoʻo kaunanga, pe ko hoʻo pulu, pe ko hoʻo ʻasi, pe ha manu ʻe taha, pe ko e muli ʻoku nofo ʻi ho lotoʻā: koeʻuhi ke mālōlō mo koe ʻa hoʻo tamaioʻeiki mo hoʻo kaunanga.
15 (And you will remember *L(p)*) that (a slave you were - *L(p)*) in [the] land of (Egypt and he brought out you Yahweh God your from there by a hand strong *L(p)*) and by an arm (outstretched *L(p)*) there-fore he has commanded you Yahweh God your to observe [the] day of the sabbath.
Pea ke manatu naʻa ke nofo ko e tamaioʻeiki koe ʻi he fonua ko ʻIsipite, pea naʻe ʻomi koe mei ai ʻe Sihova ko ho ʻOtua, ʻi he nima māfimafi mo e nima kuo mafao: ko ia kuo fekau ai ʻe Sihova ko ho ʻOtua kiate koe, ke ke tauhi ʻae ʻaho Sāpate.
16 Honor father your and mother your just as he has commanded you Yahweh God your so that - they may be long! days your and so that it may go well for you on the land which Yahweh God your [is] about to give to you.
“Fakaʻapaʻapa ki hoʻo tamai mo hoʻo faʻē, ʻo hangē ko e fekau ʻa Sihova ko ho ʻOtua kiate koe; koeʻuhi ke fuoloa ho ngaahi ʻaho, pea koeʻuhi ke hoko ai ʻae lelei kiate koe, ʻi he fonua ʻaia ʻoku foaki ʻe Sihova ko ho ʻOtua kiate koe.
17 (Not you must murder. *L(p)*)
“ʻOua naʻa ke fakapō.
18 (And not you must commit adultery. *L(p)*)
“Pea ʻoua naʻa ke tono fefine.
19 (And not you must steal. *L(p)*)
“Pea ʻoua naʻa ke kaihaʻa.
20 And not you must testify against neighbor your testimony of falsehood.
“Pea ʻoua naʻa ke tukuakiʻi ʻa ho kaungāʻapi.
21 And not you must covet [the] wife of neighbor your. And not you must desire [the] house of neighbor your field his and [male] servant his and female servant his ox his and donkey his and all that [belongs] to neighbor your.
“‘Pea ʻoua naʻa ke holi ki he uaifi ʻo ho kaungāʻapi, pea ʻoua naʻa ke manumanu ki he fale ʻo ho kaungāʻapi, pe ki heʻene ngoue, pe ki heʻene tamaioʻeiki, pe ki heʻene kaunanga, pe ki heʻene pulu, pe ki heʻene ʻasi, pe ki ha meʻa ʻe taha ʻoku ʻa ho kaungāʻapi.’
22 The words these he spoke Yahweh to all assembly your at the mountain from [the] middle of the fire the cloud and the thick darkness a voice great and not he added and he inscribed them on two tablets of stone and he gave them to me.
“Naʻe folofolaʻaki ʻae ngaahi lea ni ʻe Sihova ki hoʻomou fakataha kotoa pē ʻi he moʻunga mei he loto afi mo e ʻao, pea mo e poʻuli matolu, ʻi he leʻo lahi: pea naʻe ʻikai fakalahi ia. Pea naʻe tohi ia ʻi he maka lafalafa ʻe ua, ʻo ne tuku mai ia kiate au.
23 And it was when heard you the voice from [the] middle of the darkness and the mountain [was] burning with fire and you drew near! to me all [the] chiefs of tribes your and elders your.
“Pea naʻe hoko ʻo pehē, ‘ʻI hoʻomou ongoʻi ʻae leʻo mei he lotolotonga ʻoe fakapoʻuli, (he naʻe vela ʻae moʻunga ʻi he afi, ) naʻa mou haʻu ʻo ofi kiate au, ʻio ʻae houʻeiki ʻo homou ngaahi faʻahinga, mo hoʻomou kau mātuʻa;
24 And you said here! he has shown us Yahweh God our glory his and greatness his and voice his we have heard from [the] middle of the fire the day this we have seen that he speaks God with humankind and he will live.
Pea naʻa mou pehē, Vakai, kuo fakahā kiate kimautolu ʻe Sihova ko homau ʻOtua hono nāunau mo hono lahi, pea kuo mau ongoʻi hono leʻo mei he loto afi: kuo mau mamata he ʻaho ni ʻoku alea ʻae ʻOtua mo e tangata, pea ʻoku moʻui ia.
25 And therefore why? will we die for it will consume us the fire great this if [are] repeating - we to hear [the] voice of Yahweh God our again and we will die.
Pea ko eni, ko e hā te mau mate ai? He ko e afi lahi ni te ne fakaʻauha ʻakimautolu: kapau te mau toe fanongo ki he leʻo ʻo Sihova ko homau ʻOtua, te mau toki mate ai.
26 For who? [is] all flesh who he has heard [the] voice of God living speaking from [the] middle of the fire like us and he has lived.
He ko hai ia ʻi he kakai kotoa pē, kuo ne fanongo ki he leʻo ʻoe ʻOtua moʻui ʻoku folofola mei he loto afi, ʻo hangē ko kimautolu, pea kei moʻui?
27 Draw near you and hear all that he will say Yahweh God our and you - you will speak to us all that he will speak Yahweh God our to you and we will listen and we will do [it].
Ke ke ʻalu koe ke ofi, pea fanongo ki he folofola kotoa pē ʻa Sihova ko hotau ʻOtua: pea ke lea ʻaki ʻe koe kiate kimautolu ʻaia kotoa pē ʻe folofola ai ʻa Sihova ko hotau ʻOtua kiate koe: pea te mau fanongo, pea fai ki ai.’
28 And he heard Yahweh [the] sound of words your when spoke you to me and he said Yahweh to me I have heard [the] sound of [the] words of the people this which they spoke to you they have done well all that they have spoken.
Pea naʻe ongoʻi ʻe Sihova ʻae leʻo ʻo hoʻomou ngaahi lea, ʻi hoʻomou lea kiate au; pea naʻe pehē ʻe Sihova kiate au, ‘Kuo u fanongo ki he leʻo ʻoe ngaahi lea ʻae kakai ni, ʻaia kuo nau lea ʻaki kiate koe: kuo lelei kotoa pē ʻae lea kuo nau lea ʻaki.
29 Who? will he give and it will belong heart their this to them to fear me and to keep all commandments my all the days so that it may go well for them and for children their for ever.
ʻAmusiaange ʻeau kuo ʻiate kinautolu ha loto pehē, kenau manavahē kiate au, pea tauhi maʻuaipē ʻa ʻeku ngaahi fekau, koeʻuhi ke hoko ai ʻae lelei kiate kinautolu, pea ki heʻenau fānau ʻo taʻengata!
30 Go say to them return yourselves to tents your.
ʻAlu ʻo tala kiate kinautolu, Mou toe ʻalu ki homou ngaahi fale fehikitaki.
31 And you here stand with me so let me speak to you all the commandment and the statutes and the judgments which you will teach them and they will observe [them] in the land which I [am] about to give to them to take possession of it.
Ka ko koe, ke ke tuʻu ʻi heni ʻo ofi kiate au, pea te u fakahā kiate koe ʻae ngaahi fekau kotoa pē, mo e ngaahi tuʻutuʻuni, mo e ngaahi fakamaau, ʻaia te ke ako ʻaki kiate kinautolu, koeʻuhi kenau fai ki ai ʻi he fonua ʻaia ʻoku ou foaki kiate kinautolu kenau maʻu.’
32 And you will take care to do just as he has commanded Yahweh God your you not you must turn aside right [hand] and left [hand].
Ko ia ke mou tokanga ʻo fai ia ʻo hangē ko e fekau ʻa Sihova ko homou ʻOtua kiate kimoutolu: ʻoua naʻa mou tafoki ki he nima toʻomataʻu pe ki he toʻohema.
33 In all the way which he has commanded Yahweh God your you you will walk so that you may live! and it will be good for you and you will prolong days in the land which you will take possession of!
Te mou ʻalu ʻi he ngaahi hala kotoa pē ʻaia kuo fekau ʻe Sihova ko homou ʻOtua kiate kimoutolu, koeʻuhi ke mou moʻui, pea mou lelei, pea ke mou fakatolonga homou ngaahi ʻaho ʻi he fonua te mou maʻu.
