< Deuteronomy 5 >

1 And he summoned Moses all Israel and he said to them hear O Israel the statutes and the judgments which I [am] speaking in ears your this day and you will learn them and you will take care to observe them.
2 Yahweh God our he made with us a covenant at Horeb.
I whakarite a Ihowa, to tatou Atua, i te kawenata ki a tatou i Horepa.
3 Not with ancestors our he made Yahweh the covenant this for with us we these here this day all of us alive.
Kihai a Ihowa i whakarite i tenei kawenata ki o tatou matua; engari ki a tatou, ki a tatou nei ano, e ora katoa nei i konei inaianei.
4 Face - on face he spoke Yahweh with you at the mountain from [the] middle of the fire.
I korero a kanohi mai a Ihowa ki a koutou i te maunga i waenganui o te ahi;
5 I [was] standing between Yahweh and between you at the time that to declare to you [the] word of Yahweh for you were afraid of the fire and not you went up on the mountain saying.
6 I [am] Yahweh God your who I brought out you from [the] land of Egypt (from a house of slaves. *L(p)*)
Ko Ihowa ahau, ko tou Atua, naku koe i whakaputa mai i te whenua o Ihipa, i te whare pononga.
7 (Not it will belong to you gods other *L(p)*) on (face my. *L(p)*)
Aua etahi atua ke atu mou ki mua i ahau.
8 (Not you must make for yourself an image of - *L(p)*) any (form which [is] in the heavens - above and which [is] on the earth beneath *L(p)*) and which ([is] in the waters - from under to the earth. *L(p)*)
Kei hanga koe i te whakapakoko mou, i tetahi ritenga ranei o nga mea o te rangi i runga, o te whenua ranei i raro, o te wai ranei i raro i te whenua.
9 Not (you must bow down to them *L(p)*) and not (you must be enticed to serve them *L(p)*) for I Yahweh God your [am] a God jealous [who] visits [the] iniquity of parents on children and on a third generation and on a fourth generation (of [those who] hate me. *L(p)*)
Kei koropiko koe ki ena mea, kei mahi ranei ki ena mea: ko Ihowa hoki ahau ko tou Atua, he Atua hae, e mea ana i nga hara o nga matua kia tau iho ki nga tamariki a te toru, te wha ra ano o nga whakatupuranga o te hunga e kino ana ki ahau;
10 (And [who] does covenant loyalty *L(p)*) (to thousands *L(b+p)*) of [those who] love me and of [those who] keep (commandments my. *Q(K)*)
11 Not you must take [the] name of Yahweh God your for emptiness for not he will leave unpunished Yahweh [one] who he will take name his for emptiness.
Kei whakahuatia noatia e koe te ingoa o Ihowa, o tou Atua: e kore hoki a Ihowa e mea he harakore te tangata e whakahua noa ana i tona ingoa.
12 (Keep *L(p)*) ([the] day of the sabbath to set apart as holy it *L(p)*) just as (he commanded you - Yahweh God your. *L(p)*)
Kia mau ki te ra hapati, kia whakatapua, kia pera me ta Ihowa, me ta tou Atua i whakahau ai ki a koe.
13 (Six days *L(p)*) (you will labor *L(b+p)*) (and you will do all work your. *L(p)*)
E ono nga ra e mahi ai koe, e mea ai hoki i au mea katoa;
14 And [the] day (seventh [is] a sabbath - *L(p)*) (to Yahweh *L(b+p)*) (God your *L(p)*) not you must do any work you and son your and daughter your and [male] servant your and female servant your and ox your and donkey your and all livestock your and sojourner your who [is] in gates your so that he may rest [male] servant your and female servant your (like you. *L(p)*)
Tena ko te ra whitu, he hapati no Ihowa, no tou Atua; kaua e mahia tetahi mahi i reira, e koe, e tau tama, e tau tamahine, e tau pononga tane, e tau pononga wahine, e tau kau, e tau kaihe, e au kararehe katoa hoki, me tou tangata ke i roto i ou tatau; kia okioki ai tau pononga tane, tau pononga wahine, kia pena ai me koe.
15 (And you will remember *L(p)*) that (a slave you were - *L(p)*) in [the] land of (Egypt and he brought out you Yahweh God your from there by a hand strong *L(p)*) and by an arm (outstretched *L(p)*) there-fore he has commanded you Yahweh God your to observe [the] day of the sabbath.
16 Honor father your and mother your just as he has commanded you Yahweh God your so that - they may be long! days your and so that it may go well for you on the land which Yahweh God your [is] about to give to you.
Whakahonoretia tou papa me tou whaea, kia rite ki ta Ihowa, ki ta tou Atua i whakahau aia ki a koe; kia roa ai ou ra, kia whiwhi ai hoki koe ki te pai i runga i te whenua e homai nei e Ihowa, e tou Atua, ki a koe.
17 (Not you must murder. *L(p)*)
Aua e patu.
18 (And not you must commit adultery. *L(p)*)
Aua e puremu.
19 (And not you must steal. *L(p)*)
Aua e tahae.
20 And not you must testify against neighbor your testimony of falsehood.
Aua e whakapae teka ki tou hoa.
21 And not you must covet [the] wife of neighbor your. And not you must desire [the] house of neighbor your field his and [male] servant his and female servant his ox his and donkey his and all that [belongs] to neighbor your.
22 The words these he spoke Yahweh to all assembly your at the mountain from [the] middle of the fire the cloud and the thick darkness a voice great and not he added and he inscribed them on two tablets of stone and he gave them to me.
23 And it was when heard you the voice from [the] middle of the darkness and the mountain [was] burning with fire and you drew near! to me all [the] chiefs of tribes your and elders your.
A, no to koutou rongonga i te kupu i roto i te pouri, ko te maunga hoki e ka ana i te ahi, ka whakatata mai ki ahau, ara nga upoko katoa o o koutou iwi, me o koutou kaumatua;
24 And you said here! he has shown us Yahweh God our glory his and greatness his and voice his we have heard from [the] middle of the fire the day this we have seen that he speaks God with humankind and he will live.
A ka mea mai, Na, kua whakakite mai a Ihowa, to tatou Atua, i tona kororia, i tona nui ki a tatou, kua rongo hoki tatou i tona reo i roto i te ahi; kua kite tatou i tenei ra ka korero a Ihowa ki te tangata, a ka ora ano ia.
25 And therefore why? will we die for it will consume us the fire great this if [are] repeating - we to hear [the] voice of Yahweh God our again and we will die.
26 For who? [is] all flesh who he has heard [the] voice of God living speaking from [the] middle of the fire like us and he has lived.
Ko wai hoki o nga kikokiko katoa i rongo ki te reo o te Atua ora e korero ana i roto i te ahi, me tatou nei i rongo, a ia ora ano?
27 Draw near you and hear all that he will say Yahweh God our and you - you will speak to us all that he will speak Yahweh God our to you and we will listen and we will do [it].
28 And he heard Yahweh [the] sound of words your when spoke you to me and he said Yahweh to me I have heard [the] sound of [the] words of the people this which they spoke to you they have done well all that they have spoken.
A ka rongo mai a Ihowa i te puaki o a koutou kupu, i a koutou e korero ana ki ahau; na ka mea a Ihowa ki ahau, Kua rongo ahau i te puaki mai o nga kupu a te iwi nei, i korero ra ratou ki a koe: he pai nga mea katoa i korero ra ratou.
29 Who? will he give and it will belong heart their this to them to fear me and to keep all commandments my all the days so that it may go well for them and for children their for ever.
E! me i pena o ratou ngakau i roto i a ratou, te wehi i ahau, te pupuri hoki i aku whakahau katoa i nga ra katoa, kia whiwhi ai ratou ki te pai me a ratou tamariki hoki ake tonu atu!
30 Go say to them return yourselves to tents your.
Haere, mea atu ki a ratou, Hoki atu koutou ki o koutou teneti.
31 And you here stand with me so let me speak to you all the commandment and the statutes and the judgments which you will teach them and they will observe [them] in the land which I [am] about to give to them to take possession of it.
32 And you will take care to do just as he has commanded Yahweh God your you not you must turn aside right [hand] and left [hand].
Na, kia mahara koutou kia pera te mahi me ta Ihowa, me ta to koutou Atua, i whakahau ai ki a koutou: kaua e peka ke ki matau, ki maui.
33 In all the way which he has commanded Yahweh God your you you will walk so that you may live! and it will be good for you and you will prolong days in the land which you will take possession of!
Haere i nga huarahi katoa i whakahau ai a Ihowa, to koutou Atua ki a koutou, kia ora ai koutou, kia whiwhi ai ki te pai, kia roa ai hoki o koutou ra ki te whenua ka riro nei i a koutou.
